Does UTL_FIL utility supports file writing in to remote Host ??

Hi,
I am checking the possibility with UTL_FIL utility whether supports file writing in to remote Host. My database is on different server from UNIX server but i want to make use of Oracle directory objects or UTL_FILES functions to be able to write files directly from Oracle to remote UNIX server.
Is this possible ?
Thanks
Anand

UTL_FILE, and any other PL/SQL package running on the database server, can only access objects that the database server has access to. Unless the remote Unix server's file system is mounted from the Oracle server's file system, UTL_FILE would be unable to create a file there.
Now, there may well be alternateives. For example, you could generate the file locally and FTP the file to the remote Unix server, assuming the remote Unix server is running a FTP server.

  • Does Fingerprint Utility supports the latest Chrome version 21

    Hello !
    The latest version of Chrome is 21 and this version isn't compatible with the Fingerprint Utility (I'm using the 2.0.0.6409).
    So I tried installing the latest Fingerprint Utility (fp-sw-20120710162925.zip, version 2.0.0.9) but the installation program must crash at some point because I never get to see the installation program itself, I only see the unziper (aka THOSHIBA Archive extractor).
    So I don't know what to do to make it work.
    Does the 2.0.0.9 version of the FP Utility supports Chrome 21 ?
    I cannot find any info about it :/
    Thanks in advance :)
    PS: I have a Tecra R950

    I think you should download this package once again.
    Then click right on the zip package and unzip the files.
    Then you should see an exe file this exe file is zipped too so you have to unzip this again.
    Right click and choose extract here.
    Now you should see some files and now you should be able to run the installation.

    The version that you have.. no. Not even going as far as
    jdbc-odbc bridge, the currently released version of the XSU
    requires, for the most part, the Oracle JDBC drivers. We plan to
    fix this in the comming relase. When release...? Very soon :)

  • Does Import utility supports downwards compatible

    1. I need to do export from ora9i & import into 8i. Does it possible ?
    2. How about Transport Tablespace , Is that works from 9i to 8i ?

    Below Paragraph I cut & paste from Orafaq.org
    Different versions of the import utility is upwards compatible. This means that one can take an export file created from an old export version, and import it using a later version of the import utility. This is quite an effective way of upgrading a database from one release of Oracle to the next.
    Oracle also ships some previous catexpX.sql scripts that can be executed as user SYS enabling older imp/exp versions to work (for backwards compatibility). For example, one can run $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catexp7.sql on an Oracle 8 database to allow the Oracle 7.3 exp/imp utilities to run against an Oracle 8 database.
    Does Oracle 9i/8i comes with catexp8.sql .... ?Which I can execute at oracle9i DB.

  • Does Disk Utility defragment files during clone?

    Scenario:
    Boot from OS X (10.6) install disc > run Disk Utility > format a second drive (internal SATA) using HFS+ (Journaled) > Restore tab > Erase and Restore function
    Question:
    Does the above procedure actually defragment file clusters or just remove fragmented free space during the 'clone' process?
    Thanks in advance for knowledge.
    Note - this question was prompted by a post regarding fragmented Aperture library databases but I realized this is probably a better place to raise the question.

    No. When you clone to a freshly formatted drive the result is by definition defragmented. That is because the destination's sector blocks are sequential. Fragmentation only occurs when a file is changed and requires more space than was used by the previous version. If there isn't a contiguous block of space available then the OS uses any available block elsewhere. This results in the file not being saved in a contiguous block of space - hence fragmentation.
    Therefore, when you clone a drive to a newly formatted drive the result is a fully defragmented drive. This is the fastest and safest way to defragment a drive: clone it to a newly formatted drive, erase the fragmented drive, then clone back.
    Fragmentation is unlikely to occur unless files over 20 MBs are being frequently changed and re-written to a drive that hasn't enough free space to continuously change large files that are growing. These files can no longer be saved into a contiguous block of space - hence they become fragmented. Otherwise OS X automatically defragments files under 20 MBs on the fly. Typically rapid drive fragmentation is more a problem from small files than very large ones.

  • Does Oracle B2B supports file (inbound and outbound) via Odette FTP?

    I am unable to find any documentation on whether B2B can receive/send files via OFTP. If it is supported, please point me to any documentation on this topic.

    Thanks Rafael! I have reached out to the Oracle B2B Product Development to provide an enhancement. What is your email id in case I need more details about the open source product? I visited your web site. I am unable to download the APIs since I do not have SVN. Is there a location where I can download it as a compressed zip file?

  • Does PE 13 support files stored on a NAS?

    I currently have PE 10 and would like to upgrade or find something better.  Clearly I can upgrade to PE 13 but a thing that really annoys me with 10 is that it doesn't recognise that files may be stored on network drives such as a NAS.  This is where all of mine are and I have to maintain a copy that PE can get to by setting up an iSCSI drive on the NAS so that PE10, can recognise as a local drive and access the files.  Simple mapped drives don't seem to be supported.  This might seem fine but one of the reasons for using a NAS, apart from drive protection, is so that I can access my content to show on a smart TV over DLNA.  My smart TV cannot see the iSCSI drive as it is targetted at my PC.  Therefore I end up with a copy for access via DLNA which is on the NAS and one on the iSCSI drive, which is also on the NAS.
    Apart from wasting storage there is the risk of the two versions getting out of sync.  I want to solve this and if PE will not do it for me I'll buy a different product although I do want some editing capability.  Even some of the free products don't have this issue and also perform better.

    Hello eimajgraham,
    Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
    Regarding printing from "NAS" to the Officejet Pro 8600 via an App, it would depend on the file format and if the "NAS" supports printing via an App.
    What is the type device the App would be installed on, Apple, Android, etc? You could try using the HP ePrint App.

  • Does Oracle 10G supports 2 Oracle homes on same Host?

    Hi,
    I have installed oracle 10 G R2 on windows OS. I have installed oracle twice, i.e. i have two oracle homes. After installation these are the problems i am facing:
    1. I am not able to start oracleDBconsoleorcl, OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSlistener services. I am not able to get sql command prompt for the oracle home1.
    2. But I am able to start oracleDBconsoleorcl2, OracleOraDb10g_home2TNSlistener services. I am able to get sql command prompt for the oracle home2.
    Can anyone please tell me what the problem is? Someone told me that in 10G i cannot have two Oracle homes. Is it true? if yes then waht is the work around for this problem.
    Thanks
    Varun

    Why have you installed it twice?
    You only need a single home for running any number of instances. (though I question the logic of the person who runs multiple database instances on the same platform as sop)
    Running multiple homes are usually a solution when having to run two different version instances. E.g. installing Oracle 10G in addition to a 9i installation in order to create a 10G database to use for porting the 9i database, after which the 9i database and installation will be trashed.
    Running two homes of the same version is silly - you're simply duplicating a truck load of static files, executables, libraries, message files and so on.. for what purpose?

  • Using AudioFileOpenUrl to play a remotely hosted audio file

    I was playing around with the iPhone SDK and I wanted to write a trivial app (UIView with UIButton, press button, play file) that played a remotely hosted mp3 file. It seems like this should be simple:
    NSString *filepath = @"http://www.server.com/legal.mp3";
    CFURLRef audioFileURL = CFURLCreateWithString(NULL, (CFStringRef) filepath, NULL);
    AudioFileID audioFile;
    if (noErr != AudioFileOpenURL(audioFileURL, fsRdPerm, 0, nil)) {
    NSLog(@"Error - : could not open audio file. Path given was: %@", audioFileURL);
    Why doesn't this work? What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

    QuickTimeKirk wrote:
    Very difficult request because the Apple TV can only play one file at a time. It doesn't have a "loop" feature.
    You could use QuickTime Player Pro to "join" the audio files into one file. The hard part would be adding the five minute video chunks via copy/paste as each would be added as a new "video" track. QuickTime .mov files can have up to 99 "tracks" and the .mov container is supported by Apple TV.
    So this new file would have a new video track (actually just a copy of the original) that played up to 98 times. A five minute source video would end up being a bit over 8 hours in duration.
    The 98 track video could be "flattened" into one video track via export. The same for the audio track movie.
    Other options:
    Set the Quicktime Loop flag in the movie inspector properties.
    Make a video playlist, adding the file to the playlist lots of times - make sure playlists are enabled in Settings for video not just music.

  • Camera RAW does NOT yet support raw files for the new  Canon Sureshot S95

    Camera RAW does NOT yet support raw files for the new
    Canon Sureshot S95.
    Adobe, please can you provide an update asap

    Hello!
    I think that you need to be patient.
    There has not been any release of Camera Raw since the release of the camera.
    I recommend to try the next version once it will be released, as there might be preliminary support (and therefore not listed).
    Usually, Adobe is amongs the firsts to support a new camera.
    Even though the Camera Raw team is fielded with wonderful coders, I do not think that they do have a time machine to allow support before they have their hands on a camera

    Of course not.  The camera was announced 8 months after the last version of LR 3 came out.
    You could use the free DNG converter.

  • Does the Ipad2 support .epub (ebook) files?

    Does the Ipad2 support .epub (ebook) files?
    And: does it support websites built with flash?

    Epub boooks are supported. There are a number of different ebook apps, and generally books are locked (due to digital rights management systems) to the app/retailer that they were bought from e.g. iBooks (Apple), Kindle (Amazon), Barns & Noble, Nook - so won't be able, for example, buy a book from Amazon and read it it iBooks, you'll have to use the Kindle app.
    Flash is not supported on any iOS device (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch). Some apps claim to (e.g. Skyfire) but judging from the reviews the results are varied. More info on why it's not supported here http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/
