Does version 11.5 allow Ad-Hoc documents?

My company is new to DocuMaker. Our parent company has 11.5. We are trying to determine if we can use 11.5 as well, or need to upgrade to 12.0.
One of the requirements we have is what we are calling "ad-hoc' documents. Basically where a user is on an application screen and presses a button to create a letter. The application screen will allow the user to select what information to put on the letter. For some of the letters, after the user presses the button on the application screen, then the letters will print without any more user interaction. But for other letters, the letter will be displayed on the user's screen and they have the ability to type in more information.
Does anyone know if this is possible under DocuMaker version 11.5? From what we've been reading, it appears we have to be on DocuMaker version 12.0. The Document Factory appears to be how to make this work.
We would prefer to stay on version 11.5. Since that is the version our parent company is on.
Does anyone know if version 11.5 has the ability for "ad-hoc" documents as I described above. Any information you can give is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
Are you able to right click on the Application and start an Ad-Hoc analysis? Do you see anything disabled in Excel -> Options -> Add-Ins?
One option would be to try and perform a clean uninstall and then reinstall of Smart View on the local machine to see if that helps.
I would uninstall, delete any subfolders created for Smart View, and then use something like CCleaner to make sure the registry is cleared out.
After that, try downloading the latest version of SmartView, and then try and boot that up.

    The latest version of Mavericks does not allow a Pages document to become a 'stationery pad'!  Is there a way to do this this other than through the 'Get Info' window?  As Pages templates cannot be ordered in folders, my many templates are effectively unusable now and I need to find another way to order and access them.

    Are you aware of that you can still use Pages 09 on Mavericks? You don't have to go thru the grieves of using the crippled Pages 5. Pages 09 should bi in Applications/iWork 09 folder.

    Sorry, I do not understand what you mean by "the full version of adobe".  Do you mean Acrobat?
    I am also not clear what you mean by "review and scroll 2 documents at the same time"; please clarify.  Adobe Reader (and Acrobat) lets you open as many documents as you want, but if you press Page Down/Page Up on one document, it will not perform that action on the other documents at the same time.

    Note that Adobe is a company, not a piece of software.
    Adobe Reader for iOS (which is what this forum is for) is for VIEWING PDF files. Not for EDITING PDF files.
    There is no file editor software that I'm aware of for iOS devices. You can do limited editing of PDFs on Acrobat Pro for Macintosh or Windows. This software is NOT free.

    That is exactly what I mean, Im having problems giving planning users only calc access for Essbase. If I do that the users are not able top run scripts from the Planning app.
    What is strange is that for a while it was working for some users, but not for others, now the only thng that works is to give users admin rights for Essbase server.

    does the iOS app allow for digital signatures ?

    Hi,
    Currently, Adobe Reader mobile products (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not support digital signatures.  But you can add handwritten signatures (as annotations) to PDF documents.
    For digital signatures for legally binding documents and contracts, I'd recommend the desktop version of Adobe Reader or Acrobat Pro/Standard.  Alternatively, you can use Adobe EchoSign for e-signatures.

  • Pages '08 says "You need a newer version of Pages to open this document." when opening a Pages '08 Document

    Created a document 3 years ago with Pages '08.  Got a new Mac last summer, migrated my user account, reinstalled Pages '08.  Upgraded to Mavericks recently.
    Now when trying to open the document I get the message "You need a newer version of Pages to open this document."
    Note that I have read a number of the messages here that are similar.  To be clear there is only one Pages (Pages '08) on this system.  Its in the iWork folder.
    Is it the case that this document and all the other Pages '08 documents on my system are lost forever?
    BTW I have looked at the new version of Pages.  Its just plain awful from UX to quality.  What has gone wrong at Apple and specifically in the iWork group in the past few years???
    Thanks for any help!
    K
    And in trying to post this I got the "You are not allowed to create or update this content"  Changed the Community from what was automatically selected and seems to work now.  Whats with Apple Engineering and QA these days???

    I've never had Pages 5 on my system.  Just to confirm I copied the file to a USBDrive and gave it to a friend to try out.  He has Pages 5 on a new MBP with latest Mavericks.  When he tried to open it he got the following message:
    "You document will open in the new Pages for Mac.  If you save it or edit it, you'll need the latest Pages on iOS7 to open it on an iOS device."
    But it did open on his system.  He closed it, no save, and reopened but did not get the above message again.
    We concluded that the file is actually a Pages '08 file because of the above message.
    However we also suspect that when this file was simply opened in Pages 5.2.2 on his system it got flagged and possibly converted which is actually quite offensive!
    Thoughts/Advice?

    Hey! I had the same problem you did just today when I was trying to get my second iPhone to sync. What you need to do with music or anything extra that you doing you have to creat a second playlist or picture or anything that you would like to use, so that you can add to the second device that you are going to be using. I am not sure if that will help but it helped me out a lot!! Good luck!

  • Processing Instructions are not allowed in SOAP documents

    Hi, there. I am trying to integrate WS-Security into our server using the api-sample in JWSDP 1.6 as it is the one that fits into our current architecture in place.
    I have the following code:
    DOMSource domSource = new DOMSource( indoc );
    SOAPPart soapPart = msg.getSOAPPart();
    soapPart.setContent( domSource );
    ProcessingContext context = new ProcessingContext();
    context.setSOAPMessage( msg );
    where indoc is an org.w3c.dom.Document object.
    The last line throws an exception that is ultimately caused by:
    java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: Processing Instructions are not allowed in SOAP documents
    at com.sun.xml.messaging.saaj.soap.SOAPDocumentImpl.createProcessingInstruction(SOAPDocumentImpl.java:109)
    (Please find the complete (partially edited) stack trace at the end of this message.)
    The exception is thrown even when the following very simple (unsigned) SOAP message is submitted:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"><soap:Body><requestMessage xmlns="urn:schemas-company-com:transaction-data-1.17"><merchantID>ever03</merchantID><ccAuthService run="true"/></requestMessage></soap:Body></soap:Envelope>
    As you can see, the only processing instruction is the XML processing instruction, which I don't believe is disallowed in SOAP documents, right? So, I'm not sure why it's complaining about processing instructions. I'm guessing during the transformation into whatever form ProcessingContext wants the document to be in, certain processing instructions are erroneously being inserted.
    I would appreciate any inputs. Below is the stack trace, partially edited to show only the relevant lines.

  • Does "Version History" Work AT All in CQ5.5 DAM????

    How do I retain version history of  an asset in the DAM AFTER I "replace" that asset with a file of the exact same name and location? In 5.5 replacing a PDF wipes out all version history on that PDF making asset version completely useless. What I'm talking about is a basic function of any WCM. A marketing department may update their PDF file 50 times a year. Those are called different "Versions". They update the PDF outside of the DAM and upload "replace" the old version with a new version. Unfortunately all old versions are wiped out and lost when a replace is done. This leaves me wondering what does Version mean to DAM seems to mean nothing. Documentation claims I'm doing it the right way but it does not work at all, despite what the Day docs claim. Any help? Thx

    Hi Sham,
    Thanks for this information. The procedure you describe does work, sort of. However there are still some signficant issues around this topic of versioning assests. Here are the problems I see.
    The documentation I found is completely wrong about how to version assets.
    http://dev.day.com/docs/en/cq/current/dam/cq5_dam_version_management.html
    The process you described, does not allow any opportunity to enter comments into a version that was created through the upload of a new rendition.
    Adding to the problem of no comments, the little icon image next to the version number of each version in the Versions tab shows the wrong picture of what the version actuall is.
    In what scenario would anyone upload an asset to "replace" an asset of the same name that is already versioned. It seems never since it will wipe out all meta data about that asset, references, versions, comments, etc.
    Can you or someone from Adobe help me understand how to overcome these above issues? Is this a known  bug in 5.5 that will be fixed or this this just really bizarre and klunky behavior around asset versionint that we have to suffer through? Products like TeamSite from Autonomy do this so well and so easily and so intuitively that by comparison this is a real embarressment for Adobe. I asked specifically about this feature when selecting this product and was assured it was able to version assets, not just maintain different renditions.
    Thanks again for your help.

    I am currently running OS X 10.5.8 on my MacBook (early 2008) and want to know if I can upgrade to a version that will allow me to use iCloud to sync with my new iPad?

    I believe to use iCloud you need to run at least Lion (10.7). (Only the Find My iPhone or Find My Mac parts of iCloud work with OS earlier than 10.7/Lion).
    I think you can run Lion but you should check each of the following:
    "To use Lion, make sure your computer has the following:
    An Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    Mac OS X v10.6.6 or later to install via the Mac App Store (v10.6.8 recommended); you can install without Mac OS X v10.6 by using an OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive, available on the Apple Online Store
    7 GB of available disk space
    2 GB of RAM
    If your Mac does not meet these requirements, you will need to upgrade your Mac before installing Lion"
    You have a Core 2 Duo. You can upgrade to 10.6 and then install Lion, or use the thumb drive approach mentioned above (thumb drive Lion costs about $70 I think). You need to check your RAM to see if you have enough.
    Folks have reported that 4 GB RAM is really a minimum for a decent experience with Lion.
    For Mountain Lion, see this ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5444 ) for what you need to have to install OS 10.8. I don't think you can use Mountain Lion (10.8) with your early 2008 Macbook.

    To Mickey: I got the 2 RAR files into one directory, extracted the part1.rar file, and in that new folder there is a file called start.html. I opened this, and followed the links on the right, from "Welcome" to "Getting Started". After all this I had the SAP Management Console, as well as the Database Manager applications created. You will find the specific instructions for setting up the MaxDB under the "Getting Started" link. After setting up the Database Manager you have to start it up with a user-id and password which was created during the set-up, and specifically link the database to the NSP system. I seem to remember that this didn't work at first, because the Database Manager shortcut does not run the program as an administrator. So run it as an administrator! I altered the shortcut's properties under the shortcut/advanced so it will always run the program as an administrator, and haven't had any problems - once you have done the "Add" procedure you may never need to re-visit the database manager.
