    You don't need Windows if you want to run a different OS as your "guest".  You can download many different flavors of Linux for free, and most of them will run in Parallels or VMWare Fusion...  If you want to run Windows though, you will need a copy of that OS to install in the virtual machine of your choice...

  • Does VMWare Fusion work with Lion

    Does VMWare Fusion work with Lion?

    After upgrading to Lion, I was experiencing significant problems with my MacBook Pro waking from sleep.  It would present me with the screen asking for my password and as soon as I typed into the field the screen would blank.  Almost like a badly done game.
    In an effort to address this, I re-installed VMWare Fusion.  The problem has not presented itself since, and it was happening on almost every wake-from-sleep.
    Take this as what it is -- a one-time anecdotal report.  But if you're experiencing issues after upgrading to Lion and you have Fusion, try just re-installing Fusion.  It doesn't take long and it doesn't impact your VMs (I'd shut them down before the re-install, but that's probably not a requirement).

  • Where in my Time Capsule does VMWare Fusion 5 store the virtual machine?

    Greetings from Toronto Apple Community!
    Due to a software issue my MAC Book Pro has been erased and selectively rebuilt from my Time Capsule in order to prevent re-creating the problem.
    I run Mountain Lion with VM Fusion 5 and Windows 7 64 bit Pro on my MAC.
    Does any one know where in the Time Capsule backups does VMWare store the virtual machine???
    Your brilliance and answers would be most appreciated!

    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
    Virtual machines are stored on Documents folder. If you want to restore them, go to Documents folder and open Time Machine UI

  • Does Final Cut Express allow you to create EDLs?

    Considering purchasing Final cut express but wondering if anyone know if it allows you to create EDLs?
    Also curious as to wether timelines created in Express can also be used in Studio?

    A timeline created in FCE can be used in FCP, but not vice versa. FCE has no EDL export function.

  • Why does the Message App Crash after I "Load Earlier Messages" X amount of Times on some Conversations (iPhone 5S; iOS 7.1)

    On some conversations, after hitting "Load Earlier Messages" so many times, my Message App crashes...
    Are others experiencing this?
    Is this a known bug?
    Is there a fix for this?
    Is there a way to avoid this or a workaround?
    I can't see any corelation between conversations that crash and don't crash, it's almost random - as if some conversations were eventually trying to load a corrupted part of a conversation file and crash while others do not.
    Please help! I need to look something up from a few older conversations dating back to June of 2012 and some of the conversations crash the app before I get there...
    Thank you!

    No one else is experiencing this issue?!?

  • Does Firefox 7.o have a supported 64-bit version for Windows 7?

    On the system requirements page for Firefox 7.0, I found the following statement: "Please note that while the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7 can be used to run Firefox 6, only 32-bit builds of Firefox 6 are supported. at this time."
    I do not understand why Firefox 6 is mentioned on the Firefox 7 system requirements page. I have Windows 7, 64 bit version.
    Does Firefox 7.0 have a supported 64 bit version that runs on Windows 7--64 bit version?

    Not yet. The web page text is incorrect.

  • Does Photoshop Elements 11 allow you to use layers to edit and/or merge photos?

    I'm looking into purchasing my first photoshop product.  I have used Photoshop CC twice and loved what I was able to do with it; however, I don't want to spend approximately $700 when I'm just beginning.  People have asked me to do portraits for them similiar to one I did of my children, but it requires merging and editing the pictures with layers.  I know Photoshop Lightroom does not have the ability to use layers.  Can anyone help me?  Thank you.

    Thank you very much.  I've just gotten into photograpny within the past 1 1/2 years.  I've used Picasa , but I've outgrown it.  Again, thank you very much for your help.

  • Does Adobe Captivate 4 allow you to produce output in the H.264 format?

    O.K., I don't really understand my own question.  My department is probably buying some additional Captivate licenses for a project.  One of the techies asked a colleague of mine if the Captivate licenses we are buying will allow us to publish in H.264.
    I don't have Captivate 4, but I'm guessing the answer is "No".  Based on my understanding, H.264 is the codec for the MPEG-4 video format utilized by iTunes, YouTube, etc.  Not that I fully understand exactly what a codec is.
    My assumption is that a .swf to video converter would be needed to publish Captivate files in the H.264 format.
    Is this correct?  Or is this capability part of Adobe Captivate 4?
    Thanks.

    Hi there
    I certainly cannot claim to be any sort of expert on the H.264 format, but Captivate 4 only produces SWF, EXE and AVI formats. So you are correct in that you would need to convert from either the SWF or AVI format to an H.264 format. From what I understand, AVI and MP4 are the two file extensions you may find H.264 file format used. So I suppose it's possible to say that if you have a CODEC (Compressor/Decompressor) installed for H.264, Captivate could spit out an AVI encoded in H.264 format.

  • Does the app install allow you to erase your hard drive?

    Looking to completely erase my harddrive.
    Typically installing OSX from a disk gives you the option to transfer files or erase.
    Does the app install do the same, given that there is no alternate startup disk?
    Thanks

    You boot into the ML Recovery disk by holding down the command-r keys and proceed from there.

  • Does Firefox 4 not allow you to append script tags with external/local sources?

    Hello,
    I am trying to use JSONP to append a <script> tag with an external source (and local)... The page I am trying to append is a valid JSON file, and the script worked fine in Firefox 3, and still works fine in Safari 5 and Internet Explorer 8... So it leads me to believe that Firefox 4 has closed the security hole that allowed me to do this.
    The code I am using is:
    $.jsonp({
    url: "http://localhost/All.json",
    callback: "callback",
    success: function(data) {
    alert("Success");
    complete: function(xOptions, textStatus) {
    alert("Complete");
    error: function(xOptions, textStatus) {
    // This will be called in case of error no matter the callback name
    });

    When debugging with Firebug it says this inbetween the <script> and </script> tags:
    Failed to load source for: http://localhost/All.json?_1300977243502=

  • Does captivate 8 subscription allow you to install the software on both an Mac and a PC (the way CC does) ?

    I need to be working from home (Mac) and at the office (PC)... Creative Coud solved this problem for me, what about Captivate ?
    Thanks for your help !

    You are allowed to install Captivate on two machines (e.g. office and home) as long as you do not try to use them both at the same time.

  • Does Photoshop Lightroom 3 allow you to "tag" your images?

    Hi All...
    I'm looking into purchasing Lightroom but I'm wondering if Lightroom 3 has the ability to "tag" your images for easy searching?  How About Lightroom 4?

    Hi guys...  Thanks for responding!  I did just download the LR3 trial version...  And have only just started to toy around with it...  I basically want to be able to assign names to each photo for the project the photo was for...  I then want to be able to recall all the photos which have to do with that specific project just by typing in project names or other keywords which will then essentially display them for me without having to search my hard drive or think back on where I stored them.  Is this possible with Lr3?  I believe it is with Lr4 but I'm not sure.
    Also, is Lr4 worth waiting for?

  • Anyone know if you can load older versions of IE onto Windows 10?

    Actually, it was already installed on the Win 10 Enterprise demo I have...

    My CEO wants me to upgrade them, but there are sites that they use everyday that have to have special endpoint protection. I am sure that Edge will cause problems.

  • Does DPM 2012 R2 with rollup 2 support any version of Windows Server 2003/2008 on Hyper-V?

    We have Hyper-V Hosts with VMs which include Windows 2003/2003R2/2008/2008R2.
    If I we upgrade to DPM 2012 R2 Update Rollup 2, will we be able to backup all those VMs now?   The support matrix (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj860400.aspx)
    still seems to show what is supported by the initial release of DPM 2012 R2, not an updated version for the rollup.
    We currently use DPM 2012 SP1 and Hyper-V hosts using Server 2012.

    Hi,
    This is kind of a loaded question because DPM 2012 R2 never dropped support for protecting Windows 2003/2008 using host level backup.
    However, the support matrix will be updated shortly to include the added support for protecting workloads on Windows 2003 / 2008 using DPM 2012 R2 UR2.
