Does VSearch force browser to use Yahoo search engine?

though i licked the problem by doing a clean install of Yosemite, is VSearch responsible for forcing my browsers to use Yahoo as the search engine? I use Chrome primarily, and even when i set preference to Google and deleted Yahoo as a search engine option, any search i did was coming up Yahoo...

I don't know the answer to your specific question as to whether VSearch is forcing your browsers to use Yahoo, but VSearch is adware and there is a very useful app that will remove all adware without the need to do a clean install. Yahoo is better than Google right now. While using Google as a search engine and logged into Yahoo-mail the page elevator (up& down) bar actually freezes, a dead giveaway that something is up. It's hard to tell from your description what is going on, but try this first.
Quit Safari. If it won't quit in the usual way, select
 ▹ Force Quit...
from the menu bar, then select Safari from the list and press return.
Relaunch Safari by holding down the shift key and clicking its icon in the Dock. That will stop the bad page from reloading automatically. From the menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove all website data
to get rid of any cookies or other data left by the server. Open your Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.
Also get rid of the useless Norton crapware, after backing up all data.

It seems to freeze EVERYTIME idk if this is due to fire fox 4 being incompatible with the yahoo browser. but it freezes when it uses that search engine

Ahh, the toolbar is still on system. I thought ComboFix got it. I think I'll uninstall Mozilla prior to initiating the fix procedures you linked. The extracare service tech support I'm paying Frontier (ISP) isn't worth a lick. After I thought I had removed, I called them and had my system scoured by them. May need to cancel that $14.90/month service...seems to have been a waste.

Why, when using a search engine i.e. Google or Bing does Firefox 'hang' and not allow any input

When I use a search engine i.e. Google or Bing, the site and Firefox crashes or 'hangs' and does not allow any action to be taken. Even if the window has been closed, Firefox continues to run but cannot be seen by 'Task Manager' resulting in me having to restart my Laptop in order to use Firefox again.
Note: This only happens with Firefox, other browsers work fine with these sites.

Why does the message '500 internal server error' appear when I use any search engine?

I am able to type a web address and use the internet successfully but when using ANY search engine I get the '500 internal server error' message. BT Yahoo Search Engine

Hi my BT Yahoo Search engine has been ok till now every page or on reboot google has taken over I have tryed Tools. Internet Options. General Tab: http://home.bt.com has not changed. Progroms Tab: Internet Explorer Default web browser not changed. How do I get rid of google taking over and go back to Yahoo search when booting or opening a new Tab my hub is BTHUB3 Unlimited Broadband [not infinity] customer. Hope somebody can Help thank you.

BT now use Google as the default search engine, not Yahoo.
If you are using the BT version of Internet Explorer, then that will alway default to Google.
Use a different web browser, or a non-BT version of IE.

When opening a new tab it automatically loads the yahoo search engine in the new tab. It use to just open a blank tab..how do I remove the Yahoo search engine from loading in a new tab ?

To make it a blank page again go to:
Tools and then click on add-ons
Then scroll down and disable "My.Freeze.com Net Assistant"

In firefox I cannot use the search engine, like to order a product or search it seems to be in the upper half of screen

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
