  • Does the iPhone support WPA Enterprise?

    Hi,
I'm really keen to purchase an iPhone when they appear over here in the UK.
We've just rolled out a wireless network here configured to use WPA Enterprise i.e. no WEP. Our baseline config is WPA/TKIP and after that you use EAP-PEAP/MSCHAPV2 or EAP-TTLS/MSCHAP to authenticate using your university userid and password.
When i was configuring our 802.1X network, the one operating system that beat everything else out there hands down was OS X. It didn't matter if it was wired or wireless, OS X just worked. It was a joy to use ... unlike Windoze.
I sort of assumed that as the iPhone had OS X in the middle it would have the same capabilities as the desktop systems. However, I've heard a couple of snippets saying that it only supports WEP. Is that the case?
It would be a major pain in the a**e if it only supported WEP. While I could set up a separate SSID for an iPhone network I'd really really rather not.
Anyone got any info on the iPhones wireless capabilities?
    TIA
    Alex

  • HT1595 Why does the apple tv not support WPA-Enterprise?

We want to roll out apple tv's to our screens throughout our stores for showing slide shows, ads etc, as well as in our board rooms on our projectors for easy airplay output options for our mobile devices.  It makes it very difficult and less secure if the apple tvs don't support the entprise level security.  With the internal chipworks virtually the same as other iOS devices, why doesn't the apple tv support it and other iOS devices do?
Apple : Please add this funcationality asap!

This is a user forum.  There is no one here from Apple to answer or support design dessions.  Apple calls AppleTV a "hobby" rather than a product.  They have never made it a major focus so if they are cutting courners it is not suprising.  ATV is deffinetly not an enterprise grade product.  It is ment for home use so I am not supprised it does not support it.

  • Satellite L40-14N: Does WLan support WPA PSK encryption security

    Could someone please help?
Does the satellite L40-14N Wireless LAN Card support WPA PSK encryption security?
    Thank you.

What WLan card was installed in your notebook?
You can check this in the device manager.
Then simply Google for this WLan card or visit the WLan card manufacture info site!
    Simply ;)

  • Does E71 support EAP Enterprise?

I'm trying to connect my E71 to work's network. It uses a WPA/WPA2 with EAP-Enterprise authentication method.
My colleague uses an iPhone and setup was easy enough to choose 'EAP-Enterprise' and enter user + password. The certificate get sent to his phone and its all done.
How is this done with the E71?

    3. Even if you do get the certificate and have the right EAP support, you might not be able to log on to the network. I've tried to log in using EAP-GTC and the phone just doesn't give me
enough time to enter the password.
I think that the reason why you are not getting enough time to enter your EAP-GTC password on the phone UI is more likely caused by the impatient WLAN access point behaviour than something being wrong on the phone side.
Some WLAN access points are by default configured to expect EAP authentication response packets from the client within a few seconds from the request that AP sends to client. Typically after AP's EAP response timeout occurs AP will trigger new EAP authentication sequence towards the client, causing yet another EAP-GTC password query on the client that user has again not enough time to answer properly.
This type of AP behaviour will cause a loop of consecutive password queries on the client side, which is especially problematic for such EAP authentication methods requiring user to enter their username/password credentials (i.e. GTC as well as MSCHAPv2 and LEAP in case credentials were not saved in advance in to the IAP settings).
Depending on the WLAN access point you might be able to adjust your AP's EAP timeout (sometimes referred as 802.1x) parameters so that AP will provide EAP clients more time to respond before initiating new (retry) authentication sequence. You could check your WLAN AP for a setting named something like "EAP timeout", "802.1x timeout" or similar and try increasing this value assuming such configuration parameter is available.
Another potential workaround (if your authentication infrastructure supports it and you are not using one-time-passwords) is to use PEAP or TTLS with MSCHAPv2 instead of EAP-GTC and save your MSCHAPv2 username/password credentials into the phone's IAP settings beforehand, which removes the need of password entry during the EAP authentication process.

  • WPA enterprise support

It seems the iPhone does not support WPA Enterprise authentication. That's the only way I can use the wireless at work. Are there any plans to add support? I know Mac OS X supports it just fine. I spend most of my day at work and it'd be a bummer to be restricted to Edge during this time.

Sorry but we do not have any such information on that. Anything that we can say would be speculation which just isn't allowed.

  • No WPA Enterprise!  Does anybody know a walk-around???

I purchased my iPod touch to use on a university network. The university network only supports WPA Enterprise. Does anybody know a walk-around?

None that I'm aware of. If it doesn't support it, it just doesn't.

  • WPA enterprise airprint printers

Does anyone know of any airprint printers that support WPA enterprise authentication?

    Try the HP LaserJet Pro 300 color MFP M375, 400 , 500 , 600.
Call HP first to make sure.

  • WPA-PSK TKIP

    Does iPhone support WPA-PSK authentication?
If so, does it support TKIP encryption?
I'm having a heck of a time trying to set up my work network on the iPhone, though my MacBook Pro handles it just fine.
    Thanks in advance.

i have not seen support for WPA-PSK TKIP if your
router and other devices support WEP 128bit
encription use that... anything other then 128bit
will not work.. took 2 hours of fussing to figure it
    out
    MacBook Pro 15inch
    Mac OS X (10.4.10)
    That is incorrect.
I am running WPA and WPA2 (both on Apple wireless base stations), and was able to connect to both. The WPA one uses TKIP.
Make sure you do not have the new ExtremeN if set to "N-only". It will not connect in that case, whether you are using 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. In fact, it will probably never even see the AP in that case.

  • Do Leopard && Aiport support WPA ?

    Hi All ,
I would like to know whether WPA feature (Wi-Fi Protected Access ) has been supported by both wireless network adaptor (Airport) in the MacBook Black and Leopard (OS version - 10.5.2).
I have a NETGEAR WPN824 router and would like enable WPA-PSK option to secure my wireless network .
How about Windows XP Professional home edition ..does it support WPA ?.
    Thanks,
    Nelson

WPA is supported by both the MacBook and Leopard.
WPA is supported on PCs running Windows XP Pro as long as (a) Windows XP Service Pack 2 has been installed and (b) the software drivers for the PC's wireless network interface supports WPA.

  • WPA Enterprise Encryption, 802.1x

Is anyone else disappointed that the iPhone doesn't support WPA Enterprise or 802.1x encryption? At my job we use it for encrypting our wireless traffic, so my iPhone is without wifi all day! Oh sadness. Maybe in a future software update. Anyone official at Apple care to respond? Its been in OSX since 10.3! I thought this thing was running OSX?! Maybe they forgot to upgrade before they pushed out the iPhone build to these sweet little puppies.
    macbook!   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Very disappointed. Please tell them so they fix it:

  • WPA Enterprise for E63

    Hi,
I just bought an E63 just to realize that I cannot use it with my work WiFi. My workplace WiFi is WPA Enterprise. Is there an upgrade to the software to support WPA Enterprise
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I suggest you contact your IT department on this matter. Setting up EAP-PEAP is not an easy thing to do. The link is an example of how it can be done.

  • Connecting n96 to WPA Enterprise

Has anyone been able to connect a n96 to WPA Enterprise (TKIP Encryption; PEAP; EAP-MSCHAP v2) WLAN?
    thanks.

Not sure what u mean by Enterprise but here is what I got my wireless router set with:
    Authentication: WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK
    Encryption: TKIP
    Wireless Mode: 802.11b/g
    DTIM Period: 3
    Maximum Connection Rate: 53 Mbps
I have mine set to a custom pass phrase key.
When I used the WLAN scan on the handset, it found my wireless network very easy then all I had to do was select it then enter the pass phrase key. When I first started my Nokia PC Suite, my router said there was a conflict and placed my N96 with DMOZ Enabled. A quick reboot of the phone then everything working fine.
    I have a BT2700HGV router.
Hope this is of some help to you

  • Why does the WPA Enterprise Wifi Network not get displayed?

I wanted to connect to the wifi of my university via eduroam and was not able to even get the eduroam network displayed in the list of Wifi networks. I'm sure that it was there, because I tried it on several spots and my laptop was always able to find it and connect to it. Could it be that WPA Enterprise is not supported? It's quite standard already, isn't it?
There would be a second option to connect to an open network and add a VPN tunnel, but I could not find any vpn-Application for Firefox OS.
Did I oversee something or is there really no possibility to access any of my university networks?
I am using an Alcatel One Touch Fire (German language set) with current Firefox OS 1.1.0.0-prerelease

It seems to me that WPA Enterprise is not currently enabled in Firefox OS.
There are several bugs regarding this feature, among others: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=790056
Regarding VPN, there is a recent thread, which also indicates that this feature is not currently supported. See the discussion here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/967948
It also lists the bug-id related to this features.
