Does Windows 7 64-bit "officially" support CS4 64-bit?

Just saw a post here that says, "...be aware that PS is not supported on Windows 7. Some people have got it going though," as well as other posts about CS4 doing odd things in Win7.
Just got a new i7-950/9GB/GTX-285 machine and Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium. I'm eager to upgrade my old CS2 to CS4.  Should I expect issues when I install CS4 64-bit in Win7?  Should I wait for a later build?
Many thanks!

This is a matter of terminology.
Saying "Not supported by Adobe" means they have not added it to the system requirements. (Not surprising since when CS4 was tested, Windows 7 was not available in its released form.)
It is obvious if you read a bit in this forum that lots of people are running different versions of Photoshop under Win7 without any problems.

  • Does the new AIR SDK support iOS 64-bit for Flex Developers?

I saw that the new AIR SDK(December 18, 2014) has supported iOS 64-bit, but it was only supported in the new compiler. See this:
Please note that support for creating universal IPA binaries will only be available in the new compiler. The legacy compiler is not (and will not be)
compatible with iOS 64-bit. Because of this, it will be removed with version 16 of the AIR SDK. To ensure that Adobe as well as third party tools
are able to work with this AIR SDK, the -useLegacyAOT option will continue to exist, but will be internally mapped to the new compiler.
AFAIK, the Flex uses the old compiler and AIR SDK for Flex Developers doesn't include ActionScript 2.0 Compiler. As a Flex developer, what shall I do?

    Hi,
I guess, you might be packaging IPA on windows machine.  Please try latest beta at http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/air.html which has iOS64 support on Windows machine as well.

  • Does windows live messenger app support push notifcations?

i have an iPod (4th gen) and i am running ios 5.1
i have turned on push notifications for windows live messenger in the notification center but they don't seem to work.

This seems to be the app itself's problem. Maybe in the app you allow notifications? Anyways, as long as you have push notifications on then you might want to leave a comment on the app in the app store

  • Is CS4 64-bit?

Adobe has been quiet about 64-bit support for CS4 which I thought was odd as it seems to me to be a major selling point. I assumed this was because MAC was being left as 32-bit only. However, when looking at the system requirements for Master Collection, I saw Photoshop Extended and Acrobat Pro as the only native 64-bit applications. All others are listed as certified for 64-bit for Vista. Does anyone have any details on this?
    Thanks
    David

On behalf of Adobe, I apologize for the blatantly incorrect information being given to your by our outsourced technical support folks. It is dead wrong. Adobe does indeed support CS4 under Vista 64-bit versions (except Home Basic). Think about it for a microsecond or two ... if we didn't officially support it, we would not have released the suite with a 64-bit version of Photoshop!
What is true is that Adobe does not officially support XP 64-bit. You may get it to install and work, but we don't support it. XP 64-bit was somewhat of an experiment with fairly poor driver support.

If you do this only for cost reasons, you should reconsider.
My guess is this is some managerial directive.I agree with you that any flavour of *nix is better than Windows, but the reality is that there might be situations where a Windows-platform is better.
If the entire server park is Windows, then the delivery will be better with a platform change. It's much likelier that the machine will stand abandoned in a corner, slowly rotting away if nobody really knows how to to manage the beast...
The world isn't black and white, and it isn't always about which is the better technical platform. If it was, the whole world would be using *nix-servers... ;-)

  • MDT 32-bit or 64-bit? Technician PC 32-bit or 64-bit?

    Hello,
There seems to be a lot of conflicting information on the internet about this.  I would appreciate any advice.
My goal is to use MDT to deploy custom Windows 8.1 to many tablets using a USB stick (SCCM is not possible or feasible at this time). At the moment, I want to deploy Windows 8.1 32-bit (tablet I'm testing does not support 64-bit). In a couple of months,
I'll probably be also deploying Windows 8.1 64-bit onto a different tablet.
Currently, I have a technician PC (Windows 8.1 64-bit) with MDT (64-bit) and AIK installed.
Q1: Does the OS on the technician PC has to be 32-bit or 64-bit?
Q2: Does the installation of MDT has to be 32-bit or 64-bit (obviously only on a 64-bit OS)?
    According to
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh825212.aspx,
"We recommend that you use the 32-bit version of Windows on the technician computer because the 32-bit version supports both 32-bit and 64-bit deployments."
So the OS on my tecnician's PC has to be 32-bit? Obviously, installation of MDT would then also be 32-bit.
    Many thanks.

The link I'm using for ADK is
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39982, which I believe is the latest version.
The link I'm using for MDT 2013 is
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40796, which I believe is the latest.
    So here's my understanding:
On a 64-bit technician PC, ADK is installed (as 64-bit?).  There no choice when running adsetup.exe, so I'm assuming it gets installed as 64-bit? This then allows me to administer 64-bit wim files only and not 32-bit files? Installing MDT - you
    would need to run  MicrosoftDeploymentToolkit2013_x64.msi.
On a 32-bit technician PC, ADK is installed (as 32-bit?).  There no choice when running adsetup.exe, so I'm assuming it gets installed as 32-bit? This then allows me to administer 32-bit wim files only and not 64-bit files? Installing MDT - you
    would need to run  MicrosoftDeploymentToolkit2013_x86.msi.
Can you please confirm my understanding above is correct.
I currently have technician PC as 64-bit, with MDT installed as 64. I need to create MDT Task Sequence for deploying Win8.1_x86onto UEFI devices.  Will I have issues and do I need to re-install everything to be 32-bit?
    Many thanks in advance.

  • Does Bootcamp version 4.0 support Windows 7 64 bit

I was ready online how it does not but the forum threads where pretty old, I have OS X Lion and I ordered Windows 7 Home Premium.
    Thanks,

Yes. In fact that is really the ONLY OS (Windows 7 Home Premium or above) 64-bit.
Look for one that has "SP1"
And all the help you need http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp
Makes more sense to ask about and include your Mac's specs, along with what you want to use Windows to do. And it all depends on your hardware (current so Sandy Bridge based) and RAM, graphic card + drivers,
    So yes.

  • Why does Silverlight install process state that my 64-bit Win Vista OS does NOT support the 64-bit version of Silverlight?

As of Monday 4/20, I've encountered a significant problem with Silverlight on my Vista PC.
Several weeks ago I read a brief item stating that Google would be dropping support for npapi and that it would affect Silverlight sometime in April.  One of my key daily apps uses Silverlight, but I didn't receive notification from that software's author
about the pending change and how it would be handled.  Successfully used the app every week (Mon-Fri) this month for 8-10 hrs/dy day (as I've been doing for the past ~5+ years: past year under Chrome, year before that under FireFox, ~3 prior years
under IE) and on Fri 4/17 shut it down for the weekend.  When I booted up on Mon morning and tried to log into the key app however, it prompted me to download and install Silverlight, acting as though I never had it installed!
I recalled the earlier warning about Google dropping support, so I closed Chrome, started up FireFox, but got the same prompt from the app -- it directed me to install Silverlight.  I downloaded it (had no choice as to which version, just got the "Silverlight_x64.exe"
file) and got part-way through the install when this error msg popped up:  "Unable to Install Silverlight.  Your operating system does not support the 64-bit version of Silverlight".  WHAT?!   Clicking on the "more info"
link led to this msg:  "Message ID: 1518.  Your operating system does not support the 64-bit version of Silverlight.  Click here for the latest version of Silverlight."  That link simply led back to the download page which resulted
in receiving another copy of the same executable file.
According to my system ( > Control Panel > System ), I'm running "Windows Vista Home Premium", with a "System Type:  64-bit Operating System".  I've been using this same Vista PC since Sep 2008 and running Silverlight for
    around the past 5 yrs.
? -- Why doe the Silverlight installer code flag my OS as not supported?
? -- Is there a way to get an older version of Silverlight that will run under Vista?
Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

Andy -- Thanks for the link, but I'm not adventurous enough to download from a non-MSFT site.
Besides, since I didn't make any changes to my hardware/software config, I expect a MSFT rep to explain why their two programs suddenly stopped working together and then provide whatever code fix is needed.  A phone call to their tech support (predictably)
led to nowhere but a recommendation to purchase one of the company's support offerings (which I declined to pursue).  The Silverlight development team appears to participate in these forums, so I'd hope one or more of them offers a realistic solution.
Here's something I forgot to mention in my original post:  In several of the threads on this subject (some dating back to 2008!), people have
suggested running IE as the browser vs FireFox or Chrome; however, that idea fails to note that the error msg (Message ID:1518) clearly states that "your operating
system does not support the 64-bit version of Silverlight"; it doesn't say anything about
    what browser you're using.

  • I keep getting this error message "Your operating system does not support the 64-bit version of Silverlight" even though I have a 64 bit system?

Netflix requires Microsoft Silverlight plug in to view their videos. Every time I try to load it I get the following error message...Your operating system does not support the 64-bit version of Silverlight. I have a 64bit system with Windows Vista Home Premium. Firefox 33.0 is installed.
    Any suggestions?

    Your User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; '''WOW64'''; rv:33.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/33.0
As said Firefox for Windows from mozilla.org is a 32-bit application. The WOW64 in UA means it is a 32-bit application on 64-bit Windows.
Before you ask if there will be a Win64 version of Firefox. If all goes well the first phase of having Win64 for Release may be as early as Firefox 37.0

BUG! Not system locale Filenames support for 32-bit applications error in Windows 8.1 x64.
All Windows x64 (XP,2003,2007,Vista,7,8) have no support for not system locale filenames|foldernames for all 32-bit applications. I think it is BUG!
For example,  it is possible to read files|folders with French or Chinese in English locale windows installed, rename it, but it is not possible open it, edit or delete. (ERRORS: File not found OR Unknown format)
With using 64-bit programs no such problems. How does it works and how can I fix this? Is it problem with encoding in translating kernel instructions for 32-bit apps in x64 Windows OS's? Whether there are
solutions to this problem OR some hacks|fixes?

    Hi,
Have you installed the language package for French or Chinese?
If no, please download the language package and install them.

  • Is Windows Azure officially supported for Exchange 2013?

Though Exchange 2013 can be installed on Windows Azure, however can somebody help me in knowing that if its officially supported with it OR can live environment of Exchange be setup on Windows Azure?

    Hinte is correct.
You can set up a Exchange 2013 lab in Azure. You may have seen that Henrik Walther has done just that:
    http://www.msexchange.org/articles-tutorials/office-365/exchange-online/deploying-exchange-2013-hybrid-lab-environment-windows-azure-part1.html
But this is just for practice / training.
Besides lack of support, cost of sufficient resources to run E2K13 correctly would be greater than simply using O365 / Exchange Online.
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you.

I recently upgraded to Mavericks from Snow Leopard. Does Snow Leopard still exist on my Mac? If so, is it possible to restart under Snow Leopard in order to run PowerPC apps? If not, is there an OS available in 64 bit that supports PowerPC apps? Mav ***.

The only reason I upgraded to Mavericks was because my Snow Leopard OS was 32 bit, which I was told would support only 4GB of RAM.
That wasn't quite right. You can put in as much RAM as your Mac's hardware supports. The division is in the apps themselves. A 32 bit app can't use more than 4 GB or RAM. A 64 bit app can use much more.
For example, as a 32 bit only version, Photoshop CS3 can't use more 4GB of RAM, no matter how much you actually have installed. CS4 or later can use all the RAM you want to throw at it.
