Does Windows Servers 2012r2 DFS use dual commit when a file is changed or added
When using DFS on Windows Server 2012r2, a file is modified or added. Is that change recorded using dual commit? In other words does it have to be written to all replica's before the modification is seen? Can you expand on what happens
when a file is modified?
Hi,
When a file is updated, it will be added to staging folder and send a notification to other member servers. Then member servers will pull files to their staging folders and update their local files.

Oh. Gosh. What's Windows got to do with anything? You're on Leopard, on a Mac.

When I set up Adobe reader on my computer to be able to download books from a library and then transfer to my Nook e-reader, I initially stating No authorization required using Adobe. When I try to change it so I can transfer downloaded books by my Nook e-reader it I get an error message stating the Adobe user name and password is associated with another computer. What gives?
This is pretty surprising and wierd that even Reader 10.1.1 is crashing on your system. It works pefectly for me.
Would it be possible for you to get the crash dump, and upload it, so that I can have a look at the same.
Download PROCDUMP from <http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/dd996900.aspx> and extract it to a folder, say, c:\temp\procdump.exe
Open cmd prompt and type "cd c:\temp".
Launch the browser and open the PDF.
Open task manager, sort processed by name. Two AcroRd32.exe instances should have been launched. Note the PID (a small integer like 5588) corresponding to the AcroRd32.exe with the higher memory usage; this is the process that must be crashing. Note this PID.
On the cmd window, type "procdump -e -ma 5588 c:\temp\01.dmp" (replace 5588 with the actual PID of the process noted in Step 4). Procdump will now wait for the aoolication to crash. If it throws a EULA, accept it.
Perform your steps to cause the crash.
Procdump will have created a dump file at "c:\temp\01.dmp". Zip it up (since it will be 100s of MBs otherwise) and share with me.
Thanks in advance for all your help

How to create a new excel file using Excel Destination when Destination file not exists.
how to create a new excel file using Excel Destination when Destination file not exists.
Just need to set an expression for excel connectionstring and set delay validation to true and it will create it on the fly.
The expression should return the full path with dynamic filename in each case.

Unable to use reverse geocoding when renaming files
I've asked about this on different discussion boards but no answer so far. The first versions of Lightroom that came with reverse geocoding did not have this problem. But somehow after an update in Lightroom 4 the Google reverse geocoded location fields cannot be used to rename files. This was very convenient for me to export images to people as a landscape photographer working in many places and making it easy for others to locate the place via the filename.
Is this a bug or a Google rights thing? And is there a way to make reverse geocoded metadata permanent (not in gray and italics?) because when I overtype the place myself it does work.
Example below: note that the fields {Country} and {City} or not added to the file name, even though they are in the metadata field.Don't use realtive paths, at least not without making them absolute yourself.
Java gives you the ability to figure out the path from which the executing program was loaded. Use that, together with your relative path, to construct an absolute path. -

Using muliple delimiters when importing files.
I have some sql*loader control files that I created manually, but I would like to set those up in OWB so that I can keep the entire ETL process in one tool.
My files are Tab delimited, but the last field has trailing spaces so in my Control file I have TERMINATED BY WHITESPACE on the last field. How do I do this with OWB?
Thanks,
ScottHi
I personally have not found that much difference between sqlload and external tables in mappings without complex joins
What I think you are doing
sqlload --> Staging Table --> Validated staging table --> Fact Table
What I normally do for loads under 1m rows (rule of thumb based on current hardware that I don't stick to)
External Table --> Validated staging table --> Fact Table
which includes all the lookups in the first step
What I normally do for loads over 1m rows
External Table --> Staging Table --> Validated staging table --> Fact Table
where the lookups are done in the second step and the staging table can be indexed or not. The staging table is nologging and the first step a truncate/insert.
What I was suggesting is that you might consider switching from
sqlload --> Staging Table --> Validated staging table --> Fact Table
to using
External Table --> Staging Table --> Validated staging table --> Fact Table
where the first step is a straight truncate/insert with no joins.

Problem using af:inputfile when only file name is given without path.URGENT
Hai Friends,
I am using input file type and <h:commandLink to upload a file. But when I type only the file name without the path like(hello.jpg) and try to submit then a javascript error occured "Access is denied". But my requirement is when i type without the path, that is only the file name i need to do some validations, like appending a global path with this file name and upload the file... the following is the code am having...
<af:form id="address" usesUpload="true" >
<af:inputFile id="id" value="#{BKb.batchFile}"/>
<h:commandLink action="#{.uploadFile}">
<h:outputText value="Upload" styleClass="buttonNoDecoration"/>
</h:commandLink>
<h:commandLink action="#{BKb.clearFile}">
</h:commandLink>
</af:form>
can u help me in this issue...
Thanks in advance,
CiyaI figured out the problem, and it was caused by JHeadstart. I placed a default display value in JHeadstart for the download link. This caused a default values bean to be created by jheadstart and that bean was what was causing my problem. The download link had a display value, but not a valid path. I removed the default value, re-generated the screen and it is totally fixed. I have pretty much decided that it is never a good idea to use a default value in Jheadstart.
Thanks for your help,

Hi,
I am running Data-Driven test on different machines with different input values in .CSV file in batch mode.we are facing following problem:
Test not considering modified values in .CSV file until we recompile the test.
Is there any way to avoid this dependency of compilation after updating .CSV file???
Regards,
Nagasree.Assuming the CSV is part of the Visual Studio solution. Open the properties panel for the CSV file from solution explorer. Set "Copy to output directory" to "Copy if newer" or to "Copy always". Some documents recommend
"Copy if newer" but I prefer "Copy always" as occasionally a file was not copied as I expected. The difference between the two copy methods is a little disk space and a little time, but disks are normally big and the time to copy is normally
small. Any savings are, in my opinion, far outweighed by being sure that the file will be copied correctly.

Does anyone know if there is a way to share files between Mavericks and Mac OS 9.1 operating system? When I try to connect from my iMac I get a window that says "The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported." Is there a work-around to this problem or is it just not possible? It would be largly appriciated for a solutin beings my business is a small town newspaper, and we have some important files on the older computer that need to be acessed daily.
Actually to share files between OS 8-9 and OS X, all versions, is quite easy from what I read. Look here for some details.
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20003464-263.html
And here.
https://www.google.com/search?q=file+sharing+Mac+OS+9.x&oq=file+sharing+Mac+OS+9 .x&aqs=chrome..69i57.20706j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
Or since both OS 9 and OS X can do SMB Windows sharing you could use that protocol to share files from one to the other.
Doesn't really matter what OS you are using. Mac OS/OS X shar files with Windows computers of all types and versions of Windows so the same applies for the different versions of Mac OS/OS X.
Each Operating System takes care of reading and writing files to there respective file formats of the hard drives so that does not have to be the same. They both just have to be able to do Ethernet with the same files sharing protocol. -
Hi,
I have assigned a time capsule and a USB harddisk as backup devices.
Usually I keep both the devices disconnected and doa backup every couple of days and usually alternate between the two.
I see that the TM does about 29GB of backup when every I connect either of my devices and then it goes hourly incremental after that.
I thought the TM backups were incremental after the 1st inital full backup.
What can I do to mitigate this.
Thanks

I am using Parallels for running Windows 8 mostly for using MS Access 2007, but my daily change of data is not more than 50 MB.
It's my understanding that if the virtual machine files you use are included in what Time Machine is instructed to backup, any change to the content of the VM file is considered to be a change to entire VM file. I use VMware Fusion rather than Parallels and with Fusion, the VM file is actually a folder with a special icon and inside is a collection of component files which actually make up the VM. While only some of them may be affected by using the VM, the entire VM is backed up by Time Machine. Moreover, if the backup is taking place while the VM is in use, TM is capturing the VM in a state of flux so the internal components may not agree (the VM is so big that there might be some minutes between the beginning and end of the backup so both ends don't agree with each other; the short version is the VM may be corrupted). I don't know if Parallels saves its VM's the same way but the time it takes to backup large files shouldn't change so the risk of corruption is still there. I'd suggest that in addition to TM, you should make periodic complete bootable backups on another drive. Apart from a safety net, that also gives you the VM backup.
In Time Machine options you can exclude the folder the VM's are kept in. Try that and see if the size of the backup goes down. -
Lost Page on when you should use MVC vs when you should use web forms
I read a page last week. I think it was on MSDN. It was talking about the relative merits of MVC and web forms. However, unlike the page http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd381412.aspx,
which merely states the advantages and disadvantages of each format, this page went on to state something like:
You should use MVC:
when building web apps that do this
when you web app needs that
when you are doing the other
You should use web forms:
when building these other kinds of web app
when your web app does this other thing
when your web app does this.
Does anyone know the page to which I am referring?
(Oh and since when did it become impossible to paste anything into a question or reply block in MSDN forums. This makes it very difficult to paste in page links.)
Also I am not seeing an appropiate forum in my forums dropdown list. So if a moderator wants to move it to the right forum I would appreciate it.

The first link is not what I was looking for as it tells the difference between MVC and Web Forms but not which is better for what.
The second link does get more into which is better in certain situations but doesn't really analyze each type of project and specify that this is good for web forms and this is good for MVC. However, it does provide some ways to analyze if your
"situation" would be best served by using web forms and which would be best served by using MVC.
It specified that if reaction time is an issue then MVC is the answer. This is good because with our excruciatingly slow network we need apps that take inherantly as little time as possible to load.
I took another look at the link provided by gaurav. Turns out that link has a link to an article by Dino Espisito which actually has the statement that I referred to above i.e. if your app has a lot of busines data. After two years, that
is as much as I remember of that page. So in fact indirectly gaurav found the page I was looking for.
Too bad I did not re-read this link when I started the current project, though. One thing each of them says is that if your team (in this case me) has not had much experience in handling html elements directly then MVC is not a good fix for them.
For the last 6 months theis has been a major learning process in using JQuery, AJAX, and MVC to accomplish tasks which I've could have done using server controls and web forms with my eyes closed. Too bad they don't make MVC so that you can use server
controls with it.
However since this thread is so old and unlike "Whose Line is it Anyway?" the points
do matter. I am going to award the answer to gaurav. Thanks everyone for providing some very interesting links on MVC.

I would like to know if there a way to use window (via bootcamp) and use a dual screen with the use of thunderbolt?
There are very specific requirements for using an iMac as an external display.
From Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Apple Support
What are the requirements for TDM?
A Mac notebook or desktop with a Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt connection
A Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort cable
A supported iMac with OS X 10.6.1 or later. The table below shows iMac computers that support TDM, the required cables, and the port of the computer to which you are connecting the iMac.
