Does X-Fi have built in Flash Memory or internal Hard Driv

I can't find any specs on whether the X-Fi's internal storage is flash memory or if it uses a hard dri've.
I know about the SD card slot and I am not referring to that which of course is flash memory. I mean the 8/6/32 gig storage depending on the model.
Anyone know?

Hi Merkaba777,
The ZEN X-Fi is flash memory based.

  • Does OS 9 have built in support for external Iomega Zip drives?

    Hi,
Does OS 9.x have built-in support for external SCSI Iomega Zip drives?

Yeah, you are correct, but Iomega's drivers & APPs were one really destabilizing factor for OS9, as well as ruining a few ZIP Disks with that Death Head crash, and being a nuisance. Intech's drivers gave twice the R&W speed, never failed, never crashed, could Format & Partition them... also worked for MOs, JAZZ, SyJets, other Syquests from 44MB to 550MB, and any other drive regardless of IDE, SCSI, FW, USB.

  • Does the iPod Touch use Flash memory, or a hard drive?

I thought that both the Touch and Nano used flash memory, but people on another board are telling me that the Touch uses a hard drive.
    Which is correct?

Should have said Flash memory not Flash drive.

  • Just erase my internal Hard Drive but still have files on it? help & thanks

    Hello all,
i want to erase all the data on my internal Maxtor 250gb Serial ATA Hard Drive securely, so i format the Drive by using Apple Disk Utility but still found remaining files on it, i already use the "35-pass Erase" option to erase the Drive successfully, but the info from the Apple Disk Utility still says:
    Number of Folders : 4
    Capacity : 232.8 GB
    Available : 232.7 GB
    Used : 73.6 MB
    Number of Files : 8
so it that normal ??? or what is the "hidden" folder & "Used" files stand for???thanks a lot!!!

    Hi-
I don't know about the iPhone or iTouch, but the statement is wrong regarding hard drives.
As for the other devices, they use flash memory, which like hard drives, may be erased and rewritten with zeros for security.
I would say that the rumor is just that, and to disregard it.

I believe the device has 128MB of device memory, 1Gb of built in storage memory and can accomodate up to a 32GB MicroSDHC memory card.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Both Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11 are compatible with Photo Stream. However, note that the most recent iPhoto '11 and Aperture 3 versions use the same library, so your library will be upgraded, and it doesn't mind if you install iPhoto '11 or Aperture 3. That's why I recommend you to make a backup of your iPhoto library before installing Aperture or upgrading iPhoto

  • Does my OfficeJet 8500 have an internal hard drive?

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 All-In-One (FAX/Scan/Print/Photo) printer that doesn't work and I'd like to get rid of it.  Before I dispose of it, I'd like to know if there's an internal hard drive that could potentially be storing anything I may have copied, scanned or faxed.  If it does have an internal hard drive which is holding this information, (1)  How do I erase/delete it? and (2)  Where can I dispose of the printer once the "memory" is removed/deleted/erased?

    Hi ProudNavyMom,
I see that you want to dispose of your printer.
The printer doesn't have an internal hard drive.
For disposing of the product take a look at this link.

  • I have a late 2012 iMac running osx 10.8.5.  I keep losing access to my internal hard drive.  I can reboot and regain access and it will last for a few minutes or hours.  Disk utility does not seems to help.

I have a late 2012 iMac with an I5 precessor running OSX 10.8.5 and a 1tb internal hard drive.  I keep losing access to the internal hard drive/startup disk.
I can reboot and everything operates as normal for a few minutes or hours but then I lose all access again to anything on the hard drive.  The computer is still up and running but no files can be accessed and certain websites cannot be acessed even though internet access appears to be normal.  Disk utility can only find permission errors related to iTunes which can be repaired only to come back at the next scan (I would not think permission errors would have anything to do with the hard drive crashing).  It does not seem to matter what program I am using at the time access is lost and it can lose access sometimes right after reboot when no program is running.

You will need to boot into the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during restart and select it) to run Disk Utility/Disk Repair.

  • I have an early Mac mini with a combo drive, 1Gig memory and 80Gig hard drive. Can I replace my memory chip with a 2Gig?

I know Apple doesn't like us to crack the case, but if I want to upgrade to mavericks, I need 2Gig memory. I have plenty of available space on my hard drive.

First if you have not already done so, check to see if your Mac Mini model meets the requirements...?
see > Apple - OS X Mavericks - Read the technical specifications.
Then for RAM, go to > Memory, Drives, Free Installation Guides for Apple Mac mini and select your model.
In addition to the OWC guides, go to > Mac Mini Repair - iFixit, again select your model and click on the RAM guide.

  • I currently have a mbp with two internal hard drives ( took super drive out) which for a video editor like myself is a dream I can edit video anywhere, my question can I order a new mbp with 2 internal flash drives?

I currently have a mbp 2.3 gighuz intel core 7 16 gig of ram with two internal hard drives ( took super drive out) which for a video editor like myself is a dream I can edit video anywhere, my question can I order a new mbp with 2 internal flash drives?

I wouldn't think so because the newer ones with Retina displays don't have an internal SuperDrive that can be replaced. Therefore the newer logic boards wouldn't have the two SATA/SATA Express connections on the logic board.
At least that was the case as of 2012. I've seen newer ones and they also don't have a SuperDrive.

  • Why does Boot Camp Assistant already think I have more than one partition on my hard drive?

    Greetings...
I'm surprised I've found no remedy for this problem in my searches so far. My symptom is that when I run the Boot Camp Assistant app, I get the following error message:
"The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition." The instructions that are provided along with the error message are: "Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again."
When I try to follow the instructions, I see that Disk Utility shows my drive as having a single partition. Nevertheless, I've backed up my Macintosh HD volume, re-artitioned the drive into a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume (once using the Snow Leopard Installation disk and once using Drive Genius 3), and restored my Macintosh HD volume. After all that, I still get the same error message. I even defragged my hard drive, which seems to have helped some users I've read about, but it hasn't helped me.
Something worth noting is that I recently upgraded to a bigger internal hard drive, and before doing so, I deleted the Boot Camp volume. I innocently thought I'd just do a fresh install sometime after replacing the hard drive, but hindsight tells me that I might have fallen victim to my own ignorance.
Is there a value stored in a register somewhere that's telling my OS that I have more than one partition when I really don't? Can someone out there help me do battle against my ignorance?
I'd be grateful for any help that can be sent my way...

I used DG3 to initialize the HD, which essentially erases the disk if I understand correctly. I haven't used Superduper before, so perhaps that's worth looking into.
I did mentioned the use of DG3 to ensure that I had a single disk partition. I guess the restore from a clone or Time Machine was implied...
    ;o)
Thanks for putting some effort into helping me. I'll look at Superduper and let you know if that gets me anywhere...

Your welcome and good luck finding the solution. BTW as a newbie you benefit from:
    Switch 101 & Mac 101.
Also you may want to reassess to see if you really need Windows on your computer. Remember if you install it you have all the issues every Windows users has to deal with. When I switched almost 4  years ago I installed Windows too but now I only turn it on to see if it still works. Of course your situation is different you may have proprietary software only designed for Windows and have to have it installed.

  • Does macbook have to have internal hard drive to boot?!

As i'm having partition problems with the aftermarket hard drive installed in my macbook, I am resigned to re-partitioning it to install SL and restoring from time machine.
However, the old stock hard drive I have is in a caddy, I kept it as a backup incase anything ever goes wrong, then I can just boot straight back into a copy of OSX 10.5, last night I managed to install SL on this drive etc,
So i'm wondering is it possible to boot the macbook from the USB Snow Leopard drive, then at the same time in a seperate caddie, re-partition the other hard drive so I can perform a fresh installation?
Complicated I know, but i've looked into other areas and it appears this is going to be the only way!
    Comments, advice and suggestions welcome

I can confirm that the macbook does not need a internal hard drive to boot, I booted using the factory hard drive in a USB caddie, and then installed Snow Leopard via another USB caddie
    thanks for the help Matt

    Hi 12msonti,
    Please try the following:
Delete the Adobe PCD folder and caps.db file:
    Windows:  \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD
                        \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\caps\caps.db
Launch Acrobat and enter the serial number and check.
