Does your microsoft word work on Lion

My Microsoft Word stop working when I installed Lion. Is there a fix or update that I need?

Office 2004 does not work (its PPC, and Lion does not support that). Office 2008 (personal experience) and 2011 (reports from others) do.

Latest build (6.0.12094) works fine with Lion. V4&5 do not work. If you upgrade to V6 now you get a free upgrade to V7 (according to the Parallels site). V7 is coming soon or now if you are a registered V6 user.

Your MS Office may be a Power PC App which is not compatible with ML.
Hold the Option Key and go to the Apple Menu/System Information/Software/Applications. Find the Applications then Kind. If it says Power PC you will need to upgrade.

Will doc files transferred from Microsoft word work in pages

Will be transferring doc files from Microsoft Word to new iMac, can Pages read them. Do I have to import them one at a time into Pages or when opening a particular doc file, will Pages automatically read it and let me revise document

You can open the Word document and edit it, and when you have finished editing the document, you need to export it to Word format. By doing this, you should be OK.

Does logic pro 8 work mountain lion?

I know.. I have both read and taken part in that thread but again....
The majority of peopole who run Logic 9.1.8 and Lion or now Mountain Lion do not have those issues... and because they do not, they don't post in such threads.. so you get a distorted view of the true numbers of people with problems.
Those that do have issues, will naturally post up in such threads... but that doesn't mean they are the majority of users... They are just the 'loudest' and quite rightly so.
I will also say that for me personally, 10.6.8 and Logic 9.1.5/9.1.6 was and still is the most stable platform for Logic of all of the various combinations available... but apart from an annoying issue with the "airplay' dialog box that keeps popping up in 9.1.8 with ML... and the GUI lag affecting a few plugins.. I don't have any major issues with Logic and ML... so I can happily live and work with that setup...
Finally, it's also worth noting that with my own client base.. initially with Lion and then Mountain Lion the number of clients who had problems was much higher.. Probably closer to 20-25% had issues.. but most of those issues were resolved by updates to incompatible drivers/3rd party plugins and so on...
Once those kind of issues were resolved... as I said earlier, the number of my clients who still have major issues running uner Lion or ML with Logic Pro 9 has dropped to less than 5%... and to me, that respresents a minority of all users... like it or not.

I trasferred my data on iMac (runs on Leopard with Office 2008) to my new iMac (runs on Lion). The apple store sales person made me buy Office 2011, which is designed to work with Lion. However, to my surprise, my Office 2008 is working. I can open both previously saved and new project just like before.
I called Apple support and he told me Office 2008 should NOT work on Lion. Should I return the Office 2011 or I might run into problems later?

Office '08 works in Lion.
If you're happy with it you should be able to return the unopened '11 version. If its been opened you may have troubles.

I do have two Mac Mini 2,1 in the process of fading them out since I have a 2010 and 2011 Mac Mini.
I "testeded" to load Lion first time (upgrade method, instead of clean install method) on the Mini 2,1 and Office 2011 (especially Outlook) was my biggest concern.
It turned out everything works fine for my need, I heard some bugs in "word" but I have no issue at all.
Just the PPC softwares were no longer function, nor my two Canon scanners - yike!

Wish I could paste screen shots, but believe my settings agree with yours. Do not have "mixer tab", but do have all the rest, including most importantly all the settings.
Was (am still) hoping someone with Y410 internal mic working with Vista & Windows Recorder might respond because trying to figure out if my problem a factory defect or conflict with software: Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Pro, OmniPage Pro 15.0, or Office 2K with Word 2002 (XP). They all run as XP SP2 compatible with no problems. Although Acro 7.0 causes Vista to stop Aero and restart automatically after exit from Acro 7.0.
One symptom which might be of interest to gurus is that when I rub my finger across the hole underneath is said to be lurking the internal mic, the gain bars in the Control Panel/Hardware & Sound/Sound/Manage Audio Devices/Recording - Microphone to light up. It seems as though Windows Recorder, Audacity etc just don't "activate" the internal mic.

I am currently downloading Lion, and I don't want to do it if my current version of Microsoft doesn't work. What version works?

2011 definitely.
2008 works but don't know how fully compatible.
2004 Does not work - PPC.

Why does green button not work in Lion?

In Lion, in the List view, if I have a Finder window of say 29 items and click the green button (either manually or with Applescript) it will resize to 26 items regardless of where it starts. For example if I set it to much less or much more than the desired size.
Am I missing something or is this another Lion "Feature"?

     After reading your question, I just tried a variety of situations with various amounts of documents and the Green sizing button works as expected.
     This test was on a machine that was upgraded from Snow Leopard.
     Sounds like a bug for your particular installation.
     Try creating a new temporary user. Login to that user and go to a folder that has a lots of documents and try it there to see if the problem remains.

What version do you have? Only 2008 and 2011 will work, since the previous versions were compiled for PowerPC, and Lion dropped support for PowerPC apps.

I bought the HP Envy 100 printer with my new Macbook Pro 13" and it does not seem to work with Lion. Any suggestions?

Sorry, but the response just takes you to the HP site which is of all possible assistance short of actual help!!
HP (and Apple?) need to fess up and tell all the people who have HP printers when they will "just work" with their machines and OS X Lion.... because for many of us, they just don't! It isn't rocket science guys.... blithely telling us that downloading S/W updates from Apple doesn't help.... because they don't solve the problems!

Does YOUR aluminum iMac work with Logic 8?

Hi, I have been facing Core Audio overloads with less than 5 tracks in Logic Pro 8 and have tried numerous suggestions. I have written ~6 songs even with the crashes and I want to something to give me a performance boost to see if Logic is worth it on an Imac or just a buggy trashpot. I recently of people with interfaces getting the same issue however.
I have a 2.4 ghz 24" aluminum imac with 4gigs RAM and am going to try adding these both: an Apogee Duet and an external dedicated FW800 drive in the next month.
For the dedicated audio FW800 drive I was considering a Lacie Quadra. Please come forward if you have an Aluminum Intel mac especially, due to all the firewire chipset discussion etc.
Can anyone who is very happy with their aluminum imac setup in Logic 8 please chime in? All responses are appreciated; So often we hear about problems on discussion boards, please share your smashing success story!

I have a 2.4 20" aluminum iMac running 50+ tracks (no freezing) with a few hundred plugins, with only 1 GB of RAM. I use a few external GLYPH Firewire drives. This system was actually a replacement from Apple for an iMac G5 that had the motherboard die 3 times in a 2 month time span. I'm very happy with it, its allowed me to get more work done. I don't understand why you're having so many overloads w/ only 5 tracks. I'd say up your buffer, but even for mixing I'm running at 256 on my buffer with 50 tracks or more and I'm fine. I've also never had Logic crash on me during recording or mixing. Only when using the score window. But since the update that hasn't happened.
