Doesn't crop as size indicated...crops as larger ratio

I just went through and cropped a bunch of images as a 5x7. When I re-opened the images to put our studio logo on them (using an action) the images are a similiar ratio to the 5x7 size that I cropped the image, but they are not actually a 5x7 so my action no longer puts the logo in the correct place on the image. Is there a way to get the crop tool to not give me a ratio but actually size the image to the size that I input into the boxes? I don't want to have to re-do all of my logo actions to fit the ratios.

I am using CS6. I actually input the size in the boxes and it pulled up the 5x7 in the drop down menu when I did that.

  • Reducing file size after cropping in Pro X ?

    I have just upgraded from 8.3 to 10.1. I use Acrobat solely to scan old material for putting on the web. As people that have made this switch know, the program is very different! And much simplier and better for my tasks. In 8.3 I optimized the size after cropping, and that discarded what I cropped. In 10.1 the optimization is taking place with the scan. Then I crop. How do I then delete from the file what I cropped out? If I optimize again it questions why I am doing it, and the image quality degrades.

    Go into the importing tab, and set the options to Mp3 at a lower bitrate, then go to your song and choose Convert to Mp3 - it will then create another copy at a lower bitrate - leaving the high quality original - you can then burn the smaller one to your CD - it shouldn't take long to convert.

  • How do I crop without aperture re-enlarging the photo? Can I maintain size of crop without drastically affecting size of mega pixel output for online data transfer to print site?

    HOW DO I CROP WITHOUT APERTURE RE-SIZING THE PHOTO? CAN I MAINTAIN THE SELECTED CROP SIZE (VERY SLIGHT EDGE TRIM) WITHOUT
    DRASTICALLY AFFECTING THE MEGAPIXEL SIZE BEING SENT TO ONLINE PRINTING SITE?

    Note the "Size" read out on the crop popup this tells you the size your cropped image wil be. eg. The image here is a 21 megapixel image, cropping the image like so reduces the file size to 5MP, your exported file size can only be a max of this 5MP.
    Hope this Helps, (HTH)

  • Compressor 4.1 Crop and Size appears to be broken

    anyone who can check this, much appreciated before I send this in as a bug
    try to make a conversion..set any crop and then force the size back to it's original size and start job and it should fail telling you missing codec.
    seems to be happening with anything but uncompressed files...it was fine in 4-4.07
    this just seems like a really bad rethinking of the whole application. it wasn't made 64 bit and the interface changes shouldn't be breaking basic functionality (crop and size, multi core usage etc)

    Thanks Russ
    Can you try these steps?
    1 your original xdcam
    2. set a crop of 8 to top and bottom
    manually set size to original (it will adjust down with e crop, so enter the size manually)
    submit and let me know if it completes.
    if it's working, then it look like it's prores specific (which is bad if you're doing roundtrip from fcp)

  • Photoshop CC crop image size & resolution dialog box

    In previous versions of Photoshop the "R" button displays the Crop Image Size & Resolution dialog box.  Is this feature completely gone is CC? I can't find anything the even references this dialog box.  Anyone out there have this issue?

    In photoshop cc 2014, the size and resolution boxes will actually show on the tool options bar instead of a separate dialog window, by choosing W x H x Resolution from the drop-down menu.

  • Show cropped size while cropping, support detection of min. crop for a chosen image size.

    Now that Lightroom gets really stable and powerful, maybe we have a better chance to get some of the "smaller issues" resolved as well?
    One feature which would interest me would be indication of the cropped size while performing the cropping. Lightroom could also show always the percentage of lost or ignored pixels by the crop as a rough measure of resulting "image resolution."
    With posting in web in mind, I found on many occasions that I would like to have one more feature: I would like to set for the crop the
    "desired image size" as I chose for the posting, say 1200x800 pixels, and not allow the crop to select a smaller area.
    Now its up to "try and error" in such cases. Once the crop is off, Lightroom shows the cropped area if selected so, and so user can see if the crop still encompasses at least the desired image size.

    There is a very simple reason that has been stated several times. You are not editing photos, you are making references to images through a database - its all ones and zeros with colours and hues. It is at the export stage you tell lightroom what crop you want. There is no point telling lightroom to crop 800 by 600 in the develop module (though I do see the reason for the request).
    If you did specify 800 by 600, the crop would be a small proportion of a 4000 by 3000 pixel chip image ,so you would only get a tiny portion of the picture, then what?
    How do you get more of the picture in the crop dimensions?
    You scale it up by dragging the crop box having the constraints in the ratio of 800 by 600..... ( back to the original way LR uses....)
    Wanting emperical 800 by 600 or 1200 by 800 then scaling up is 2 step process where Adobe sussed that one in the beta by saying u"se aspect rations and then use the all (powerful but ugly) export dialog."
    Its has actually been thought out plenty more so "human factors mis-engineering that would make microsoft proud" kind of noise is probably incorrect.
    There are some clever and overworked people battling with Lightroom . Bibble 5 was promised 6 momths ago..... still waiting for their 88% improvement in speed.......... but LR2.3 is not there yet
    If you want a crop of certain "dimensions" enter them into the x and y spaces in the crop options and you will have 800 by 600 or 1200 by 800.
    Then simply set up a batch export using the options long edge... compresssion %.... All these NEED to be entered for exporting at least once - even if you go Export as Previous.
    that is my intrepretation of why Adobe decided not to give absolute crops, I'm sure if Adobe did comment on these forums a little more, they would explain more succintly, eloquently but a very similar explanation as mine is above.

  • Question on Photoshop Image Size Zoom & Crop

    Hello Everyone...
    I was wondering if anyone could help me out on a few questions w/ Image Size Zoom & Crop
    I use to work at a studio that had their own small software for editing photos. It was setup so you take an image RAW and you could CROP by zooming. So I could take the image and SCROLL to ZOOM in and it cropped away the rest without actually pressing crop. Then you pick what sizes you want, 1 8x10, 2 5x7 and sheet of wallets and WALLLLLLA it prints them out on 3 sheets of paper.
    My questions are:
    Is there anyway to crop by zooming?
    Is there anyway to keep the original size after cropping?  Example most of my pics are 12M when I crop they go down to 2 or 3. Why? If I have a picture of 4 people and I want to crop to one persons face but keep the original image size why won't it do that without resizing??
    It says that to get the best print quality it should be viewed at resolution 300 instead of 72? is that true? and why?
    Is there a way to keep the quality at its best and then just select how many and what size I want to have print out? example of the 3 sizes listed above??
    I hope my questions make a little sense.
    Thanks for your help in advance

  • After Effects Crops layer size when importing from Illustrator file

    I don't know if this was reported before, but when importing an Illustrator CS3 file with multiple layers as a cropped composition, some of the paths/objects get cropped horizontally - and the cropping is not even on both sides either (not that it makes any better or worse)- it is more cropped on the left side.
    I really would love an answer to this because I work mostly in that fashion, and it will be a pain if I lose this feature.
    Thanks in advance,
    Doug

    Yes, I made sure of that.
    In this specific case every other layer got cropped, independent of the size of the path, for example - in one layer I have the background that did not get clipped, the next has an oval (smaller than the first) - that got cropped; next some text - not cropped following that a cloud shape get's cropped and so on.
    Right now I do not have time for doing some tests, but I'll do as soon as possible.
    This has been my favourite workflow for client logo animation and I have been craving for new features in this feature such as sub layers becoming pre-comps etc.

  • Crop first and then crop again to specific ratio

    Hello,
    Is there a way to crop first (as in a loose crop--like using the marque in Photoshop), and then to crop again to a specific ratio in lightroom?
    Seems like when I try to crop loosely and then crop to a specific ratio, that the image reverts back to the full image that I started out with.
    Thanks,
    Norm
    P.S. I am using lightrom 3.

    Norm Johnstone wrote:
    Not really sure what you mean by cropping is a one shot deal.
    I mean exactly that. AFAIK, since the dawn of time, Lr has presented you with a crop view that shows the previous committed crop which you can change.
    Because it is not a pixel editor, it does not actually change the file; it is just a hint to the export to create the cropped view it shows in the previews.
    So, when you "re-crop" all you are doing is revisiting the existing crop, if it exists.
    Remember that printing from Lr is a different beast than printing from Ps. You don't have to worry so much about resolution vs. aspect ratio.  Just crop to the size you like and let the print module do the rest.  Or export to Ps and do your regular print stuff there, including destructively cropping a copy of your raw image.

  • Cropping to View or Cropping to Zoom Level

    Just wondering if this is already an option and I just can't find it... I work with very large images, and having a television background, I am always looking for the Wide/Medium/Tight shots - for example, getting three different shots from the originals. When I am zooming in to make corrections or retouch, I find myself saying "Now THAT would make a GREAT image cropped exactly where it is". Instead of dragging out the Crop Tool and risk the image "moving" from the exact zoom level or view I have it at, is there a way to "CROP TO VIEW" or "CROP TO ZOOM LEVEL" with just one click that I am missing, or should this go to the Photoship Wish List? Thanks, all!

    As far as I can tell that’s currently not possible, so unless someone else has more insight here you might want to post in the Feature Request Forum.
    While the zoom-level is accessible for Scripting purposes the image’s position in the window is not (to the best of my knowledge).

    If an extension isn't working properly then you need to take this up with its developer.

  • Finding suitable indices for a large collection

    Hello,
    I'm trying to find suitable indices for a large Xml collection.
    I'm using a indexed node container. I added a large Xml document (about 450 MB). The schema of the document is like this:
    <dbname>
    <tablename1>
    <row attribute1="attributevalue" attribut2="attributevalue" ... />
    <row attribute2="attributevalue" attribut2="attributevalue" ... />
    </tablename1>
    <tablename2>
    <row ......>
    </dbname>
    One table has got about 5 million entries. I'm not able to query this table, because my system runs out of memory (Windows begins to swap several gigabytes).
    Typical queries are : "all rows of a table" and "all rows of a table with attribute=value"
    I also tried using lazy queries, but it didn't get better.
    The following indices I already added:
    - edge-element-presence-none for dbname
    - edge-element-presence-none for each tablename
    - edge-element-presence-none for row
    - edge-attribute-equality-string for attributes I'm trying to query
    E.g. I'm trying to get all rows of a table. This is the query plan:
    dbxml> queryplan collection("temp.dbxml")/dbname/tablename1/row
    <XQuery>
    <DbXmlNav>
    <LookupIndex container="temp.dbxml">
    <PresenceQP index="edge-element-presence-none" operation="eq" parent="tablename1" child="row"/>
    </LookupIndex>
    <Join type="parent-of-child" return="context_item">
    <DbXmlNav>
    <LookupIndex container="temp.dbxml">
    <PresenceQP index="edge-element-presence-none" operation="eq" parent="dbname" child="tablename1"/>
    </LookupIndex>
    <Join type="parent-of-child" return="context_item">
    <DbXmlNav>
    <LookupIndex container="temp.dbxml">
    <PresenceQP index="edge-element-presence-none" operation="eq" parent="root:http://www.sleepycat.com/2002/dbxml" child="dbname"/>
    </LookupIndex>
    <Join type="parent-of-child" return="context_item">
    <QueryPlanFunction result="collection" container="temp.dbxml">
    <OQPlan>n(P(edge-element-presence-none,=,tablename1.row),P(edge-element-presence-none,=,dbname.tablename1),P(edge-element-presence-none,=,root:http://www.sleepycat.com/2002/dbxml.dbname))</OQPlan>
    </QueryPlanFunction>
    </Join>
    </DbXmlNav>
    </Join>
    </DbXmlNav>
    </Join>
    </DbXmlNav>
    </XQuery>
    When i execute this query (in eager mode), dbxml doesn't gives any response. The swap size is increased several gigabytes and the hard disk is working very hard. The same happens, when I use lazy mode and try to print out the results.
    Could anybody please help me to improve the query performance?
    Thanks,
    Benjamin

    Benjamin,
    Using lazy evaluation should allow you to get an answer. The upcoming 2.4 release is easier on memory as well and should help.
    That said, why are you even using an XML database if you are storing/querying what appears
    to be relational data? Mapping relational database tables into a single XML document is going on only slow down access (due to the constraints XML imposes on the data that do not exist in a
    relational system).
    If you must do such things it's best to map at a finer granularity -- e.g. one table to one document or even one row per document.

    George
