'Doesn't meet requirements...' for Safari 3?

I've just reinstalled my OS, but had backed up my /Applications and /~ folders, and restored them. However Safari refused to open, just bounced once then stopped...
I reinstalled Safari 2 using the OS X DVD, but not I want to update it to Safari 3 the installer says my system 'odes not meet the requirements'. I know this can be due to Safari being ina subfolder but in my case it is not, it is in the /Applications/ folder. However Safari 2 still has all my bookmarks I set up in 3 before the reinstall...
Anyone got any ideas? I'm stuck, but I really want my tabs and the new search back!

OliQ, are you sure you don't have Safari 2 and 3 on the hard drive?

  • Don't meet requirements for safari beta?

I tried to download Safari 3 and was told I don't meet requirements though I have 10.4.9 and 27 gigs free space on my hard drive. Anyone else have this problem? I'm sad! I wanted to see it!

    Hi dobes918,
I just download it on my PC and macmini (1.5Ghz/512mb) and so far both are work for me.
    http://www.apple.com/safari/download/
Try to restart your macbook, run software updater, update anything that offered by software updater and re-download from link above.
    Good luck.
ps: repair your permission by open application folder > utilities > disk utility > repair permission everytime you install/remove application, or update your software and hardware.

  • I have a G5 and bought and upgraded to osx 10.5.  now i need to upgrade to 10.5.6 or higher, but when i download and try to install, i get message "this volume does not meet requirements for this update".

i am trying to sync an ipad to a power mac g5.  i bought and upgraded to osx 10.5 and have tried to download and 10.5.6 or higher, but i keep getting same message:  "you cannot install mac os x update on this volume.  this volume does not meet requirements for this update".  help!

Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update
Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 5
To me, in all such updates, goes without saying maybe: backup, repair permissions, repair your drive (Disk Warrior does more reliable and thorough job, and it comes out to pennies if you don't wait until needed). Clone your system so you can restore or use the backup - just in case.
I'd even do a fresh format after your clone is done and do a full OS clean install and update, and then a quick import from Setup Assistant.
Mac computer with USB 2.0 port
Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later
    iTunes 10.2 or later recommended
    (free download from www.itunes.com/download)
    iTunes Store account
    Internet access
I'm going to assume there is something with the partitions on the drive, partition table most likely, though I know I've seen others with that error message - doesn't really point to cause, rarely does (make sure latest firmware update etc is sometimes included but again, we know that isn't why).

  • Drives do not meet the requirements for Safari 4.0.5

I have an original Power MAc G5 with daul 2 GHz processor running 10.5.8. I am currently running Safari 4.0.3 and would like to upgrade to 4.0.5, but the installation package stated that none of my drives meet the requirements for installation. What are the requirements for installation, my startup drive has over 100GB of free space.

    Ok..
    Try repairing disk permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • T400 WinXP SP3 - Intel GM45 Driver won't install (Doesn't meet requirements error)

I have a ThinkPad T400 running WinXP SP 3 with a P8400 CPU and 2 GB of RAM. I've re-installed an OS on the laptop 5 or 6 times now without any problems, switching between Windows and Ubunutu. I went to do a clean Windows XP install the other day though, and everything went fine until I went to install the video driver. When I tried to run the VGA, Intel 4500MHD (Intel GM45 Express Chip), driver setup I receive the following error message:
"The computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software."
I googled around and immediately saw others with the exact same problem except I haven't been able to find a resolution. There is another support thread similar here: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/Workaround-Here-New-GM45-Integrated-Graphic... but this isn't working for me. Anyone have any ideas how I can get my VGA Driver up and running again?
I also have tried seeing if Lenovo keeps a roll-back archive of older drivers to see if they would have an older version of my driver (one that I know works) but had no luck. I tried calling support and they said only that whatever driver came up when I found my computer was the one they had. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

The installer (.exe file) extracts the files before giving me the error message. So when the "Add New Hardware Wizard" pops up on a restart, I try manually pointing it to the driver in the intel ../DRIVERS/WIN/DISPLAY2/Graphics sub-directory. This didn't work the first few times I tried it. Then on the 4th or 5th time, it saw the driver and installed it. However, upon a restart, it popped up the "Add New Hardware Wizard" again and the VGA Controller was again listed under Unknown Devices in the Device Manager. Anyways, thought some more info might be helpful. Thanks again in advance for any help

  • Flickr Uploader: 8310 doesn't meet requirements error

I just got a 8310 and when I try to install the Flickr Photo Uploader via web, I get an error that my device doesn't meet the requirements.
This is my first BB and I'm not an expert, but 8310 should meet the requirements, right?
    Thanks.

I gave up on the app since RIM does not seem to be updating it and very limited support.
The best option is to email your photos directly into Flickr. You can get your custom email by accessing your account->Email & Notefications-> Upload by email. The subject line would be the Title and the body of the email would be the description.
    Here is a direct link:
    http://www.flickr.com/account/uploadbyemail/?from=email
So add email to your addressbook and you will be uploading photos in no time. This saves you app memory and uses the native email app.

  • Your app doesn't meet requirement 10.1.9 / 10.3.2

The mentioned requirements cannot be found in either the new (Windows and Windows Phone Store Policies) or the 'old' (App certification requirements for the Windows Store) requirements.
So how do I know what's wrong?
P.S. I wanted to paste the links to the requirements in the question but I am not allowed, because my account isn't verified (yet).

    Hello Reware,
    Please contact
Dev Center Support to have them take a look at the app failure itself.

  • Migration Option for Devices that Doesn't Meet Requirements

We have a Family MobileMe Pack and have an iMac with Snow Leopard. When I chose to move 2 accounts that the iMac uses to iCloud, I selected the option to "keep using your email after MobileMe ends" so that these accounts will still work on Mail for the iMac.
When I check the accounts under the Master account, these 2 accounts show (Remove Account) instead of (Migrated to iCloud) as is the case for my kids' accounts.
Now I'm confused as to whether these 2 accounts are really migrated or not. And I'm not sure I can move the Master account to iCloud before these 2 accounts have been migrated. I've read I cannot manage any of the family accounts anymore once the Master account moves to iCloud. But time is running out.
So confused. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks.

If you have a Family Pack, each sub-account and the master account can be regarded as individual and separate for the purposes of the exercise. In each case all you have to do is go to http://me.com/move and follow the instructions, and it doesn't matter what order you do it in. Because of confusingly worded instructions from Apple some people have got the impression they have to cancel the sub-accounts first: do not do this.
If you migrate the master account first the others will continue to run: obviously what was the master account will not have any control over them nor be able to administer or delete them in the event it wanted to. If you migrate a sub-account while the master account is still running you can't create a new sub-account to fill the gap. Aliases will be maintained but unlike in the MobileMe Family Pack you cannot convert an alias to a full iCloud account.
Apple have provided a facility for MobileMe users whose computers don't meet the requirements to migrate their email only to iCloud. If you choose this option only your email will be migrated to iCloud. It's not entirely clear whether this takes place immediately or waits until July 1, but you can easily check by seeing whether your email is available at http://me.com or athttp://icloud.com - if the latter, the migration has taken place (give it time to take effect before checking).
On July 1 all other data on MobileMe will be deleted, but your email will be accessible at http://icloud.com.
Though Apple have not included this information, you will be able to set mail up manually to access your iCloud email by following the instructions on these pages:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Tiger
Apple have not stated what will happen if you do not follow this process. It seems safe to assume that in that case your emails will be deleted and you will lose the account.

  • Processor requirements for Safari?

For my first foray into Apple Discussions, I am going to ask what is probably a very stupid question, but here goes...
After updating the software on my OLD iMac at work (to OS 10.4.7, Safari 2.0.4), Safari will not launch. I get one of those "Safari unexpectedly quit-other applications not affected" error msgs every time. The guys from our IT department took a look and told me that this version of Safari will not run on a computer as old as mine. (I have exactly the same stuff on my iBook G4 at home and it works great.) They downloaded Firefox and told me to use that. Is this for real? Does Safari have processor requirements above and beyond the OS? Everything else seems to be working OK. And if it really is true, can I uninstall the new Safari and install an older version?
    Thanks!

Hi nildem, & welcome to apple discussions
Safari is bundled with os x 10.4.7, if the computer can handle the os it can handle Safari
Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.6 tech specs
    Requirements
    •Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G3, G4 or G5 processor
    •Built-in FireWire
    •DVD drive for installation
    •256MB of RAM
•3GB of available hard disk space (4GB if you install the developer tools)
Try a test account to see if safari works there.
Did you apply Mac OS X Update 10.4.7 Combo PPC which os did you update from?
Did you run disk permission repair before & after the installation of the update.
Home~/Library/Logs/Crash Reporter-> Safari crash find the most recent crash and post it.

  • Two clicks required for Safari window which is not currently the focus

This is really starting to annoy me - I have a 17" powerbook so I can display two webpages side by side. I click on a link in one page and... ...nothing happens. If this page was not the current focus, my first click just changes the focus - i then have to click again to go to the link. Many times i sit there waiting for the display to update, only to find that it is not going to because it requires another click... Is there any way to make Safari take action on the first click on a window not currently in focus?

I don't know of any way to allow this.
    Mail works the same way.
using mail & safari windows side by side does the same, as does anything(?) that involves switching applications.
It's just the links in safari that require one click to focus then one to activate - running two safari windows & clicking something in the toolbar or bookmarks bar on the 'other' window works just fine. As does clicking a 'button' within the page (like 'post message' on these boards, for example)
I can only suggest letting Apple know what you think at http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/

  • Does my iMac meet requirements for Lion

I bought my iMac 2 years ago and I am on OS 10.6.8, but when I read the min requirements in another thread it appears that I do not have enough memory capacity, or if I'm reading that is the memory that is available. Am I looking in the correct place?  I have time machine backing up my iMac to an external hard drive and I'm wondering what are the best options in your opinion.  Or do I have options, I don't even know if I can purchase more memory for my iMac.  I don't know much about hardware, but I can follow directions and am comfortable in any software.
    Should I...
    1.  Buy if possible more memory for my iMac
    2.  Buy another external hard drive to store my photos, using the existing hard drive just for Time Machine
    3.  Use existing external hard drive for both Time Machine and photo storage (seems like that doesn't make sense though if the drive goes bad).
    4.  Something I'm not thinking of.
By the way I used to be a Mobile Me user and really miss the calendar sharing/syncing features from my iMac to my iphone, and also to my families iphones.  iCloud syncing is my main motivation for wanting to upgrade.
Here's some info about my i Mac.
      Model Name:          iMac
      Model Identifier:          iMac11,2
      Processor Name:          Intel Core i3
      Processor Speed:          3.2 GHz
      Number Of Processors:          1
      Total Number Of Cores:          2
L2 Cache (per core):          256 KB
      L3 Cache:          4 MB
      Memory:          4 GB
      Processor Interconnect Speed:          5.86 GT/s
      Boot ROM Version:          IM112.0057.B00
      SMC Version (system):          1.64f5

Lion needs 7 GB of free storage in the hard drive, but you have 4 GB of RAM installed (Lion needs 2 GB of RAM memory). Hard drive and RAM memory are different hardware of the Mac

  • Downloaded OSX updates won't install - disk doesn't meet requirements

I also posted this in the Mac Mini section, so please excuse the double posting.
Brand new Mac Mini 2012  2.3 quad Core i7.   When attempting to install any Mountain Lion updates downloaded from Apple support site (10.8.2 combo, 10.8.2, or 10.8.2 Supplemental update), installers will not proceed and says "Can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements..."
Happened on two identical brand new mac Minis with no other data on them, and Apple senior tech support said they had never seen it and had nothing else to try after wiping the drives and reinstalling several times.
App Store was not showing updates, so I downloaded and tried to install from installers on Apple's download site (never worked). When App store eventually  found and installed the 10.8.2 update (after OSX reinstall) , the 10.8.2 supplemental update did not show up.
Just curious if anyone else has seen or could duplicate this issue.

You have to install a special OS X Mountain Lion update > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1603

  • Uninstaller Required for Safari 5

After Steve Jobs speech I tried Safari 5 and everything went pear shaped on my Mac. I tried to 'get rid' of Safari 5 but it wont allow anything and wont allow me to reinstall Safari 4, So I now use Firefox but I want to use Safari 4.
A uninstaller is required from Apple to remove Safari 5 completely and allow installation of Safari 4.
    Who agrees?

I've had the same problem ever since installing Safari 5.
It's just dead in the water after the program "opens". Nothing comes on screen after the menu bar. Nothing responds .. no "New Window" .. nothing. And it's simply not possible to re-install Safari 4.5 .. I've certainly tried. So I've been forced to abandon Safari altogether. I've moved to Firefox 3.6.4 and also have also installed Google's new "Chrome" browser, which although still in Beta (5.0.375.70) .. is very impressive.
So, Apple people .. please ensure that your new software "updates" work across Mac OS versions other than your Most Recent OS .. "Safari 5" is the most recent problem symptomatic of the difficulties that can occur in the very real world of Macs in business!
Remember that we do discuss our Mac software problems with our associates .. it would be a shame if people saw that the faults we discover and report are left unresolved. It speaks to the matter of maintaining product quality across the board.
Please do not ignore this very real problem with Safari 5!

This is what I've been instructed to do now (all with no success):
Restart the computer, holding down the option key and then do a restore.
Download the 10.8.2 Combo update and try and install.
Restart the computer, holding down the option key and then do an erase & then restore.
Download the 10.8.2 Combo update and try and install again!
Restart the computer, holding down the option key and then do an erase with zeroes & then restore.
Try and buy Mountain Lion from the App Store. (Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer)
My case has also been escalated. I asked about the DL1603 but they knew no more (or even less) than I did.

  • HT4929 I have 2nd generation I-pod which does not meet requirements for ICloud.  However, I was told that after I moved to ICloud if I connected my iPod to my Mac via the USB connection that my calendar and contacts would sync, but this didn't happen.

I have a 2nd generation Ipod and just moved to Icloud.  I had been told my an Apple tech that although my contacts and calendar would not sync automatically I could connect the Ipod to my Mac via the USB port and ITunes would sync the calendar.  Now I find that this is not happening.  I am not happy that I will have to enter/edit calendar and contact info on two devices.  Is there something I can do to fix this problem?  Thanks.

one more detail, after a restore, when I attempt to reload music to the ipod, if I try and move, say, 20 files, the transfer seems to work as it should but then stalls on the last file.  Eventually, the status will change to "Updates Files on (my ipod)" a and suggests the iPod is syncing  even though I have the auto sync feature turned off.
This process eventually works itself out, and seems to take longer relative to the number of files I attempt to transfer.   Once done, howver, if I try and eject and dismount the iPod, iTunes stalls with the spinning pinwheel and I am warned that the iPod is syncing again with the spinning candy cane status bar.     Eventually thisd works itself out and the iPod dismounts from iTunes and the desktop and eventually the iPod is free to disconnect.
Then if I try and play the music I just transfered, the iPod says there is no music loaded.
    Ideas?
