  • Doesn't recognize internet connection to update to 1.2, but should I bother

I update to itunes 7 and I wanted to update my ipod to 1.2 to watch videos I bought and have not been able to watch with 1.1. However, when I click on update in the summary tab I get that I need to be connected to the internet. I am on-line while I try this so why won't it recognize the connection? But given the problems I have read about in this forum should I even risk updating my ipod software to the 1.2 version? Any useful information would be appreciated PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND WITH: EVERYTHING WORKED PERFECTLY FOR ME.

I was having this same problem and was able to fix it by doing the following: Go to "Control Panel" "Network Connections" Right Click on your connection Go to "Properties" then click on Windows Firewall "Settings" button. Find "ipodService.exe" "itunes" and "ituneshelper.exe" Click on "edit" then "change scope" then make sure "any computer (including those on the internet)" is selected for each setting. Restart your computer and resart itunes you should now be able to run the diagnostics on the "network" and have it pass. You can then update your ipod by using the update button in itunes
If you still have problems turn on the "allow connection sharing" in the "network connection" settings
It took me a while to find this fix too, normally I can find it quicker. good luck.

  • Cloud drive doesn't recognize internet connection

I recently had some work done on my laptop (runs  Windows  7) and used to have Cloud Drive on my computer but it was deleted.  I tried to reinstall it and now I get this error message:  "You need an internet connection to set up HP Cloud Drive.  Please check your connection and try again."  I have an internet connection which is up to date and also runs Java's latest version.  I don't know what to do.  Help!

  • Reformatted iPod on Windows, iTunes doesn't recognize internet connection

    Help!
A friend loaded his songs on my iPod. When I tried to update it on my Windows PC, the Mac prompt 'iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes.' popped up, instead of the Windows prompt 'Your iPod needs to be reformatted for use with Windows. Would you like to run iTunes to restore your iPod now?' (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1441)
So I try to 'Restore' and the prompt I get is 'iTunes could not contact the iPod software update server because you are not connected to the Internet. Make sure your internet connection is active and try again.'
Thing is, I AM connected to the internet.
So then I accidentally formatted the iPod on Windows Explorer, and now nothing shows up except the image ' Use iTunes to Restore'.
Would any of you be able to save my iPod?
    Thank you!

  • Blinking Amber Light - AX Doesn't recognize Internet Connection

I've reset my Airport Express. Before and after doing so it just randomly stopped recognizing my internet connection. I can not find any sensible explanation on how to deal with this issue. I feel as though this crap is just going to be a table weight. Suggestions?

I have the same sort of problem. After I bought a new MacPro (no wireless btw) and migrated all the info from my MacBookPro 17" the AX and my iPod Touch now can't connect to the internet. I reset the AX to factory specs and used the Airport Utility to reset up the AX. That reports that all is fine. and the network says that the MBP is connected to the network (no its not!) but not the internet. The iPod Touch says it is connected to my 'Home' network but can't access the internet either.
I can't think of anything else, anyone?

  • Router doesn't recognize internet connection

I have a WRT54GS V7 that I have been running for a few years now with no problems until today.
My wife used the internet from her laptop through the day but this evening after she moved to the bedroom and booted up the laptop, she found there was no internet connection.
I tried what I know in cases like these, unplugging the router or modem for brief periods of time to try and get things going again but to no avail. So I tried using the Easylink Advisor which basically suggested the same process.
At this point, my internet connection is coming in from the cable just fine. I have access on the desktop which is wired and works with no problems. The modem and router lights are both signaling that everything is fine but no wireless internet coming from the router.
Using the desktop I tried looking for some solutions and tried resetting the router. I ultimately called customer support but being out of warranty they wanted too much to help although she suggested that I needed to reconfigure the router since I had reset it. I followed the online instructions for reconfiguring but still have gotten nowhere.
I wonder if anybody else has any suggestions or am I just looking at a lost router here?

Even after the reset the wireless connection is still not working? Might have something to do with the wireless settings on the router. You may try the following wireless settings: ssid/wireless network name: should be unique ; channel: 1,3,6, or 9 ; security mode: wpa2 personal. On the laptop, you may try to delete the profile of the network first then after that, re-connect to the network. For further instructions on how to do that, refer to this link: Removing wireless network profiles or preferred networks. If ever it won't still work, download the firmware for this router from this site: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/WRT54GS. Make sure to select Hardware version 7.0. Proceed then with upgrading the firmware of the router. Instructions on how to upgrade the firmware of the router is here. After the upgrade, do another reset on the router - push and hold the reset button for 30seconds then power it off for 10-15 seconds. Once the power light goes solid, reconfigure the settings of the router again. You may refer to these links for the reconfiguration: Setting up a Linksys router with Cable Internet service & Setting up a Linksys router for DSL Internet connection.

  • OneNote Doesn't Recognize Internet Connection - Unable to Sync

    Greetings All,
I am running OneNote 2013 and get the message that my notebook cannot sync because it needs a password.  I click and receive a dialog indicating "We are unable to connect right now.  Please check your network and try again later.".
However, I am connected to the Internet without any issues; it seems to be isolated to OneNote.
This is a notebook that is stored one my OneDrive.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you in advance...
    Bob Mixon

    Hi,
If we try to open the notebook from OneNote web app, will it open properly?
Please also try to switch to another live account and check if this issue persists.
In addition, please go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials > Generic Credentials > Find the entry start with 'MicrosoftOffice15_Data', remove it and then open your OneNote to check the result.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Steve,
Thank you for the response.  Yes, the notebook opened correctly in the OneNote web app without issue.
I ended up going to the control panel and removing the credentials.  I was then prompted for my username and password and all is working again.
Thank you again for the suggestions.

  • ITunes doesn't recognize internet connection

    Oh the joys of change...
I recently switched over from dial-up to DSL (just become available in my area), and am utilizing a wireless modem. Safari and Mail communicate fine with the world-wide-web, but neither iTunes nor Software Update seem to be able to [iTunes says "accessing music store" with the spinner-line going for minutes/hours, and SU says "A networking error has occured: timed out (-1001). Make sure you can connect to the internet, then try again"].
NOTE: I have this problem both wired and wirelessly. Any help would be much appreciated!!

I solved the problem with the ipod updater yesterday, at home i successfully updated it but today i get a new error message while contacting itunes server:

  • What can I do when I try to access a URL and get the message "MAC OSX doesn't recognize internet addresses starting with "c:"?

I recently tried to download a pdf file from a website in the UK.  Up popped a message saying the website could not be accessed, followed by this message: "MAC OSX doesn't recognize internet addresses starting with "c:".  I was able to access the website easily (its domain was "www") and the page listing the pdfs, but could not download a pdf.  Of course," c:" appears not to be a valid domain name, but why would anyone use "c:" in place of a domain name in their URL?  And what can I do about the problem?  I'm using Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.10, but also have Firefox and Chrome loaded.  Thanks.

An address starting with c: wouldn't be any kind of domain name. C: is the drive lettering system DOS and and later uses. By default, A: and B: are reserved for your first and second floppy disk drive. All hard drives are then named C: through Z:, if you have that many. C: is normally your startup disk.
Anyway, their PDF file is incorrectly linked to a file directly on the C: drive of someone's computer. It's not going to work no matter what you do.

  • Mac OS X doesn't recognize Internet addresses starting with "lastfm:".

I am running Safari 5.0.2 on Snow Leopard 10.6.4.
I am unable to open my last.fm radio streams in the browser. I receive the message:
Safari can’t open the specified address.
Safari can’t open “lastfm://user/tivorion/recommended” because Mac OS X doesn’t recognize Internet addresses starting with “lastfm:”.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

It seems addresses starting with lastfm:// are opened in the Last.fm Scrobbler.
To listen to my radio streams, I had to go to http://www.last.fm/listen

  • How do I transfer photos and videos from my iPhone 5 or Mac to an inactive iPhone 4S that my granddaughter uses ( it doesn't have Internet connection )

How do I transfer photos and videos from my iPhone 5 or Mac to an inactive iPhone 4S that my granddaughter uses ( it doesn't have Internet connection )

    Two steps:
you can first transfer photos from iPhone to computer and then drag them to the external hard drive. For your iTunes library, you can follow:
    1. Quit iTunes.
    2. Locate your external drive.
Mac: On the desktop or Finder sidebar.
    3. Locate your iTunes folder:By default, the iTunes folder is located in:
Mac: Finder > username > Music
    4. Drag the iTunes folder to your external drive. This can take a while if you have a lot of items.
    6. When the transfer is complete, your iTunes Library will have been successfully copied to your external drive.

  • Macs don't recognize internet connection

I live in a remote area and still have a dial-up connection that has been working for a few years. Now suddenly, out of the blue, neither of the two Macs I have (a PBook G4 and an 800 MHz iMac) recognize the internet connection. I can secure a connection via Internet Connect which authenticates the connection and then starts clocking my time connected, but neither Safari, Internet Explorer 5.2, nor Apple Mail seem to recognize the connection. They act as though there's no internet at all. I even spoke with my ISPs tech support and they had me try to ping their router, but even though they could "see" I was connected to their network, the ping resulted in 100% packet loss. Any ideas as to what is wrong? This happens whether or not I try it with a direct modem phone line or via our Airport network with the base station hooked to the phone line.

Yes, the phone line seems to be fine and both Macs even acknowledge a working connection and modem handshake when I monitor that part via Internet Connect. It's just that none of the software that's suppose to make use of that connection seems to be able to do so (e.g., Safari, IE 5.2, Apple Mail, etc.). I was thinking that something hidden way in the depths of System Preferences that I haven't been aware of has been forcing all software to look for the wrong port out (to the internet). But I've tried disabling (unchecking) all the other options in the Port Configurations window besides "modem" and this still doesn't work....

  • Aperture does not recognize Internet connection with SmugMug

When I try to add an account for SmugMug, the Accounts dialog box shows, "Your computer is not connected to the Internet. Aperture needs an Internet connection to login to SmugMug."
I added a Flickr account with no problems. How can I get Aperture to recognize that I have an Internet connection for SmugMug?

    jscorbin wrote:
    ** Workaround **
The problem appears to be with some routers in the network -- for example my Netgear R6300. When I hooked my iMac (running Mavericks) directly to the cable modem with an Ethernet cable, Aperture was able to authenticate with the SmugMug service (using Safari). The Apple Professional Applications technician suggested trying that, and it worked.
After replacing the original network configuration, where the iMac is connected through the Netgear router, Aperture maintained the SmugMug shared service, and I was able to upload and download photos with SmugMug.
Confirmed that this insane workaround did work. ***, Apple and/or SmugMug? This should be fixed. It doesn't jive with Apple's "ease of use" software mantras.
BTW -- I have a Netgear WNDR4500 v1 in between the world and my Mac.
