Doesn't recognize Ipod touch after upgrade itunes to 11.1.3.8

i upgraded itunes and my 2gen ipod touch will not open itunes. It is recognized as a drive in the file folder

I've tried most all of the "solutions" listed' uninstalling itunes, reinstalling, checking Admin Svcs for Ipod and Itunes. Still no luck. Seems there would be a option when plugged in to start Itunes, then we could get to the ipod anyway.

The iPod touch is completely new, no missing contacts etc. It works on other macs as well. Only my iMac doesn't see the iPod Touch. Maybe I can repost this problem in The IMAC section in stead of the iPod Touch, since I think its a iMac problem from now on...

  • Itunes doesn't recognize ipod touch even after I download latest version

About a week ago my ipod touch froze on the apple logo screen. I found a way to reset the factory setting and then try something else (can't remember what it was) where the itunes logo shows up on the screen and you plug it into your computer. After I did that a message came up that said "The ipod "ipod touch" cannot be used because it requires itunes version 9.2 or later. Go to itunes.com to download the latest version of itunes". I did that and it still won't recognize it. I even downloaded the latest version of iTunes 3 times and after I plug my ipod in still the same message. I got this ipod touch as a Christmas gift in 2009. A friend of my mom's bought a car and it came with it. She didn't want it so she gave it to me. So, I'm not even sure which version it is. I've had no problems with it up until now. What do I need to do to get itunes to recognize my ipod? There's got to be more than downloaded the latest version several times- I know that's not good.

  • ITunes Not Recognizing my iPod Touch after Upgrading from Tiger to Leopard

After upgrading from Tiger (10.4.x) to Leopard (10.5.0=>10.5.6), my iPod Touch is no longer recognized by iTunes 8.0.2. The iPod Touch no longer appears in iTunes' "source list" (left side pane in iTunes' GUI).
Immediately prior to that upgrade, my iPod Touch was working great with Tiger (10.4.x). iTunes 8.0.2 recognized it (listed it in sources) and always synchronized with it successfully.''
My iPod Touch is also not shown in the Finder. However, it does show up as recognized in iPhoto.
Any ideas on how to get the iPod recognized again in iTunes under Leopard?

Thanks to a posting by Jim in a different Apple Discussions (forum), my problem is now resolved. Read on for the details.
iPods & Finder. Some other postings incorrectly lead me to believe that the iPod would show up in the "Finder". Jim's posting set me straight on this.
iTunes Not Recognizing iPod Touch. Prior to Jim's posting, I had already read the article that Jim referenced (to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service per article "http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747").
Prior to Jim's posting, I had also read other articles in various "Apple Discussions" (forums) that suggested this recognition problem could be resolved by uninstalling/re-installing iTunes 8.0.2. Some implied that you could just re-install iTunes 8.0.2 right over the currently installed one without bothering to uninstall it.
Based on those postings, I "gambled" last night and simply downloaded and re-installed iTunes 8.0.2 (without uninstalling it first). I noticed during the installation that the Apple Mobile Device agent was also re-installed. Well, my gamble paid off! After the installation (and a reboot?), iTunes onces again RECOGNIZED my iPod Touch.

  • Itunes doesn't recognize Ipod Touch 4g

I purchased my daughter a brand new Ipod Touch 4G last weekend.   When we connect the new Ipod Touch to my daughters computer, Itunes won't recognize her Ipod Touch.   However, I can attach her Ipod Touch to two other computers and it recognizes without problem.
When I plug in the Ipod touch to her computer, it makes a noise indicating it has recognized something is plugged in but nothing is recognized in Itunes.
And what is more strange is her computer will recognize four other Apple devices without problem (an I Phone 4G, an I Phone 3G, an I Pad 2 and a Ipod Touch 3G).
I have completely gone through the recommended Ipod Touch Trouble Shooting steps 4 times now and have no success with the Ipod Touch recognized on my daughters computer.   I have completely removed all the Apple software (Bonjour, Itunes, Apple, etc.) and reinstalled.     I have even removed the anti virus software and it didn't help.
I have also tried to completely erase the Ipod Touch holding down the Sleep Walk button and Home Button for 10 seconds.   After plugging in to her computer when indicated, I get an error message that the reset was not successful.
It is so strange that her computer recognizes 4 other apple devices without problem and her Ipod touch is recognized by 2 other computers without problem.   There has to be a specific reason that it won't work on my daughters computer.
Any suggestions beyond the Ipod Touch Trouble Shooting link?

    - First try placing the iPOd in recovery mode and resoring via iTunes on the computer: For recovery mode:

  • ITunes doesn't recognize iPod Touch

I doubt that this is a Touch-specific question, but that's what I have. A couple weeks ago, I reinstalled 10.4. Since then, iTunes has not recognized my iPod touch when I plug it in. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Max

    Hello,
Try re-installing the latest version of iTunes:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
I realize this is very un-Mac like fault finding but several people have reported that when updating to Leopard they had to re-install iTunes 7.6 to get their +iPod touch+ to be recognized again. I believe this be because the +iPod touch+ needs the Apple Mobile Device Service to be installed which is removed during some OS updates and can only be reapplied by installing iTunes again.

  • Powerbook g4 doesn't recognize ipod touch

i've upgraded my powerbook a bit over the past couple years and i believe it to be compliant with the specs for the use of an ipod touch. i recently upgraded to OS X 10.4.11, i have the newest version of itunes and i believe the usb ports are 2.0 (but i can't figure that out for sure, just that's what the spec page for it on apple.com said it came with). do i need more to connect my ipod touch? when i connect it the ipod responds but lighting up, but doesnt do anything but just activate like i turned it on. it doesnt connect or charge or anything. i am using the usb connector that came with the ipod too. if anyone has advice i'm all ears. thanks.

    alright! i have a usb 2.0, that's what i thought.
when the ipod touch is connected it doesn't respond like it is connected to the computer.
and itunes doesn't recognize it. it doesn't come up under devices.
it also doesn't show up on my desktop or on the left side of my finder where cds, servers and ipods should be shown. it doesn't connect at all.
but the system profiler does seem to know there is an ipod plugged into the usb port but nothing happens about it.

  • Windows doesn't recognize iPod Touch 8gb 3g

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and after I upgraded my iPod Touch to iOS4, it got stuck in DFU mode and is stuck in a continuous DFU mode loop. I found a solution! I uninstalled everything from Apple on my computer. Everything. Bonjour, Apple Software Update, iTunes, everything Apple related that was on my PC. I then went to my Appdata folders and deleted all of the Apple and Apple Computer folders I could find. Then I rebooted and reinstalled iTunes and now it works fine! I hope this helps some more people as well!
I did exactly that, as I was told to do that by an Apple advisor, only it just brought me back to square one. Same probelm as before the uninstall, ipod in recovery mode, and itunes not recognizing it.
After that, they have shipped me a prepaid box for repair/replacement. I recommend everone else with same problem to do the same. Hopefull the new one I get will have OS4 installed and work fine. ****, I'll take 3.1.2 at this point, just want the **** thing to work.

  • Mac won't recognize iPod Touch after library move

Ever since my music library outgrew my internal hard drive and I moved it to my Time Capsule, my computer doesn't recognize my iPod Touch when I plug it in, though the iPod is charging from the USB port. I've deleted iTunes, rebooted and reinstalled in accordance with one of Apple's help pages, but to no avail. I've also tried creating a new empty iTunes library on my internal hard drive and starting iTunes from that, but that hasn't worked either. Any ideas?

I've followed all steps in the following troubleshooting documents:
    "iPod touch not appearing in iTunes" sections 1-7;
    "Mac OS X v10.6 or later: iOS device not recognized in iTunes after restart";
It may be of interest that I do not have the file "/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.usbmuxd.plist~orig", which the latter document recommends deleting. I suspect that that file is either unnecessary or it should be recreated by iTunes, so it seems an unlikely candidate for the source of the problem, however.

  • Sync issue between iPod Touch after upgrading

I have an iPod Touch 16GB 1G. I had no problems upgrading to version 2.1 and also have iTunes on 8.0.1.11. It worked beautifully for a while, syncing my music, videos, contact and calendar no problems. Lately, something weird has happened. After finished syncing, the 'window' at the top says "iPod sync is complete. OK to disconnect." On the iPod, there's nothing to show that it's syncing. Yet, on the left under 'Devices' between the Eject button and the battery indicator button, the sync logo is spinning round and round. If I were to click the Eject button, a message pops up saying that iTunes is syncing the iPod. Are you sure you want to eject it? It's really weird. I tried to to some trouble shooting and I suspect it may have something to do with syncing of my Calendar. I sync my calendar with Outlook and there's only 1 calendar i want to sync to. However, when I check on my iPod Touch, there are approximately 7 Calendars How can I delete the Calendars on my iPod?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Cannot Sync Ipod touch after upgrading to OS 3.0 (error 13001)

I got the error 13001 when I sync after I upgraded my ipod touch (2nd gen) to OS 3.0.
I tried to reinstall itunes and restore the ipod but the problem still cant be solved.
Some topics here said that it can be solved if you do not sync the song with over the sample rate 44.100 kbps. Some post said it can be solved if you create a new library.
It is okay for a few days, but the problem came back again and this time it cannot be solved by creating a new library.
It is ok when I downgrade my firmware back to 2.2.1.
So, I think it is the problem of the 3.0 firmware(7A341), but I want to use the OS 3.0.I know many people got this problem too.
I hope someone can help me and the people got the same problem.

I have seen one suggestion that disabling virus scanning during sync works. There seem to be quite a few hits on Google searching for ipod touch error 13001.
For a variety of suggestions here is a specimen hit:
