Doesn't the iPad 2 have the camera on the lockscreen in iOS 5.1?

I thought that one of the new features for iOS 5.1 was having the camera icon located on the lock screen so you could just swipe up on it to open the camera app. I am still waiting to update my iPhone 4S because there still seems to be some issues around the battery life "Feature" and wether or not iOS 5.1 offers any relief.
I did update my iPad 2 but I am not seeing the camera icon on the lock screen. Did this new feature only get ported to the iPhone? Or do I need to reinstall iOS 5.1 on my iPad to have this feature. I never use the digital picture frame feature on my iPad, it just seems like a big waste of power to me but I would use the swipe to use the camera feature if it was on my lock screen.

I had to replace my LCD assembly on my ipad 1 last month, and there is a camera in it. Apple aparently did not want to support it, intead you had to buy an 'Camera Adapter Kit' for it or buy a ipad 2 and spend $500 to get that option. Also there is no "Tab" button on the virtual keyboard either.

i strongly think that the ipad should have a camera for maximum social networking capabilities and sharing moments.

I think Apple has intentionally left it out because it would be as silly as putting a phone in the iPad. Imagine someone holding a nine inch iPhone to their ear. The same goes for holding a nine inch tablet to take a photo + any camera put in a iPad would lead to many complaints and people complaining about picture quality. The price would also go up. As for a front facing camera I can see use but currently the speeds would not be adequate on 3g and it would also ruin Apple’s one more thing.. thing (iPhone-FaceTime) I think they are letting features go slowly until Apple finds what people use their iPad for then they will decide what needs to be added. Generally the first product is more like a beta. Apple is going slow and steady to make the WOW people have with the product last. If they gave all the features go at once what would be in the next iPad. I do think they have unintentionally let people get their hopes up too high leading to some disappointment (which is the other extreme). Anyway hope I answered your question

I don't think that the box has the gen number on it. My first gen iPad box has a picture of the screen covering the front of the box, whereas the 2nd gen box just has an angled view across the iPad in the middle of the box cover (there is a picture of the box here) - it doesn't say 'iPad 2' on it, just 'iPad'
If you open the box then you can definitely tell by whether it has cameras on the front and back - there are pictures of the front and back of the iPad 2 on this page : http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/

My computer keeps recognizing my iPad 2 as a camera when I try to sync with iTunes.

I'm unable to sync my iPad 2 with my computer because the dialog box that comes on when I hook the USB up, does not recognize my iPad. It recognizes it as a camera. The source list on the left-hand side of the iTunes screen, doesn't have a "Devices" in the column.

The iPad does have a camera so your computer is acting correctly. Via this you can use the built-in Windows tools to import photos directly from the iPad (or an iPhone).
If you want to sync more things thant that, then you need to use the iTunes software. This will let you sync music, videos, etc.

If you are running iOS 5 on the iPad you can use iCloud. Go to Settings and see if there is an iCloud setting. If there is - then you can activate iCloud in that setting.
If you don't see that setting, you are not running iOS 5. You can update to iOS 5 in iTunes. You must be running iTunes 10.5 in order to download and install iOS 5.
If your iPad is brand new and you purchased it from Apple, it should have iOS 5 preinstalled.

Maybe you purchased the wrong item.
iPads that have the 25 pin connector use the original Camera Connection Kit. That kit has two parts and adapter to allow you to insert SD cards and a second adapter to connect a USB cord from your camera. Here's a link to that kit:

Newer iPads have the Lightning connector. You have two choices for those iPads. If you want to read SD card purchase a Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader.

I just want to start off first by saying I just purchased my iPad about six months ago and I'm really enjoying it,but if you're like me,I believe in protecting my privacy.
I don't like to turn down any of friends or coworkers when I'm asked to use my iPad,but when you have such things as your personal pictures,movies,music,business documents,etc...you'd like to keep them from prying eyes. I thought that with the new iOS 7 update,that issue would've been fixed, but I was wrong. I'm hoping Apple would correct this problem with the next iOS update,it would make a lot of loyal Apple consumers & anyone who's new to purchasing the iPad for the first time very happy to know that feature is available.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Photostream when enabled will only add photos from the camera roll that were taken post photostream activation. (Photostream does not currently share video)
Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.

Correct. You don't use iTunes to get photos off the iPhone.
