Doesnt alloe the User to save the form

Dear All,
I have designed a form that upon submittion will call the web service for documentum and generate a flateen version of the PDF. what I need to do is upon submission by the user. the flatten should be generated and close the Adobe reader or Acrobat window without allowing the user to save the form. Because the user filled out the form Adobe keep asking to save changes which allow the user to save the file. Any idea to skip the prompt for saving the file.
Thank you,

OMFH! Thank you so much for the solution I so desperately needed and spent so many hours trying to figure out then so much more time looking for here. How completely unintuitive and frustrating to not be able to create a form in Live Cycle Designer 8 that can be filled out *AND SAVED* from Reader - rather you have to open the finished PDF in Acrobat Pro and use an *advanced* feature to add user rights so the file can be saved from Reader. How difficult would it have been, and how much frustration would it have saved so many end users, for this to have been included as a choice in LCD when creating the form??? After all, it's part of the same software package and probably even the same code base.
Adobe... the new Microsoft.

  • Hi, Is it possible to enable Adobe ReadersX users to save filled forms without enabling them to have access to the additional features as highlighting etc?

Hi, Is it possible to enable Adobe ReadersX users to save filled forms without enabling them to have access to the additional features as highlighting etc?

You can do that with individual pdf files using Adobe Acrobat to set the security.
In Acrobat go to File>Properties>Security. Choose password security as the security method then choose "restrict editing and printing of the document..." and under "Changes allowed" choose "Filling in form fields and signing existing signature fields".

  • How to Allow the End User to Save a Form

How do I allow an end user to save form after they've filled it out? I understand this can be accomplished using the distribute function where you email the form to people. We don't want to do that. We want to put it on a website and allow them to access it, open it, fill it out, then save a copy to their hard drive (with the data they entered visible). I have searched the forums and cannot seem to find a solution for this.  Thanks, in advance!

Hi Kyle. Thank you for the reply.  I do have Acrobat Pro, so I will try that. To make sure I understand correctly, the form has to be create in LiveCycle Developer, then you have to open it on Acrobat Pro and set the permissions?

  • Html:select doesnt set the form property if there is no option tag

    Hello,
I have a select box that I am dynamically populating through ajax.
I have it populated in the create screen. I save the form elements saved. I am able to get the data on a detail screen when i do a bean:write
But when i try to see the selected element on the edit screen. The bean doesnt get populated
    Here is my code:
         <tr>

         <td>                              <html:select name="matterCreateForm" property="region" styleId="regionListBox">
         </html:select>
         </td>
         </tr>
Can somebody help me with this. If i do an alert of region in javascript it is empty though the form element has a value.
If I remove the entire select code and use a html:hidden fot the property. It alerts me with the value.
    Your help is appreciated!

After your SQL SELECT on CO_EditForm.cfm, you need a
<CFIF> that checks to see if any records were retrieved. See

  • Allow reader users to save pdf form with data

I want to create a form that an adobe reader user can open and save a copy as a pdf with the data in the form. I know that requires reader extensions - what i can't seem to figure out is if I already have this included and how to do it. I have LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 - which is the download I end up at when searching LC with reader extensions.
Does anyone have instructions on how to do this or know whether that functionality is available in the version I'm running?

You can add the Reader Extesnion right to save the form with data locally in two different ways.
    1. In Acrobat Pro open the form and under the Advanced/Extend Features in Adobe Reader will walk you through a wizard. Once the wixard is finished, save the file and use that one. This technique is limited to 500 users by licence.
    2. LiveCycle Reader Extensions Server has a User Interface that allwos you to pick the rights you want. There are no luser imitations to this option.
If you do not have either, option 1 is a lot simpler. You can download a trial copy of Acrobat Pro and try it.

  • Users cannot save Acrobat forms

I've run into a stumbing block with Acrobat 8 Pro and forms.
I have a PDF to which form fields have been added, and in one area, even tallies price totals (it is an advertising contract). Dates format correctly, all works fine. If I send the finished form to another computer running Acrobat Pro (either 7 or 8), I can enter all fields, and save the form. But, if I send it to a user who only has Acrobat Reader, they can enter text in the fields, but cannot save the form. Right now, I have no security or access permissions on the form at all.
Basically, I want the form to work like the tax forms available on the IRS site--that a user can download it, enter the text, save it for their records, and either be able to e-mail it back to us, or to print and fax it.
Is there anything else I need to do?

I would use the DISTRIBUTE option under the FORMS menu since it not only
Reader Enables the PDF but also prepares a response file for collecting
the data. One very, very cool thing - Acrobat 9 can now also collect all
forms responses via Acrobat.com so you can log-in, filter the data,
export to XML / CSV and keep everything in the acrobat.com cloud

  • How can I allow users to save fillable forms I've created in Acrobat 9 Pro?

Do I have to use Live Cyle Designer? I require all users to use Acrobat Reader 11 so I do not have to Reader Enable each form, which is a hassle.

No, you don't need to use LiveCycle Designer. To create a form, first create the PDF and open it in Acrobat. You can then add the form fields by selecting: Forms > Add or Edit Fields
It will ask you if you want Acrobat to attempt to create fields automatically where it thinks they should be. The form will then be opened in form editing mode and you can add/edit the fields.

  • My livecycle designer es4 form needs password protection for parts of the form

I  have a form created in livecycle designer es4 that will be used by Adobe Reader users in three stages. The first stage is setting up choices on the form, saving them and passwordprotecting this Save. The form will be used three more times, each time saved as a new file.
How do I password protect each saved version from a command button?

    Greetings,
You have a couple of options depending on whether you need to display the number when the form is created, or saved.
You will need a 'Back-end' data store - most likely a database with a table that at a minimum keeps track of the last used number.
If you are saving the data from the form into a database, you could return the number to the user after saving the data ( and generating the associated number )
If you are wanting to display the number when the form is first opened, you will need to set up an action profile that fires when the form opens to call the back-end and get the next number.
There is no guarantee that the user will save this form, so you may end up with gaps in your sequence if you are assigning numbers other than when saving.
The forum has many posts on loading data into forms before presentation, and also some on using web services to push and pull data from forms.
    Hope this helps

  • LOCK the form once its SAVEd?

    Hello
I have developed a form, opening in browser, as online, well.
But, if user once SAVEs that form on local machine, all the field LOCKED or GREYED OUT, it shuld meant for just DISPLAY purpose
Pls. let me know hoe can i get this requirement, JS code snippet pls?
    Thank you

    Thank you.
    My impression:
PreSave: Fires as soon as user clicks the SAVE button, but not YET the form saved on PC
PostSave: Fires, AFTER form is saved on PC
Not sure, did i understood correctly or not
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/designerHelp/index.htm?content=000753.html
    I will explain my requirement:
My form uses by 2 kind of user groups, say, grp_1 and grp_2 (i knew/ my_form knows that which group is logged-in/accessing/opened the form, so that i can differentiate the below 2 scenarios easily, no worries here for this validation )
grp_1: With your first code snippet working well, i am all set here, Thank you
grp_2: User opens the form, starts entering data, user is half way, want to take coffee braek, hence want to SAVE at that point as is on PC, so user clicked SAVE button of the form (work-in-progress) and the form has saved on PC...........if user opens this saved form, it must be locked status/not editable status
    Well,
User came back from coffee, want to continue filling the rest of the stuff/fields/pages of the form, so, let user go ahead filling the form......may be if user want to save any time (even completing all the fields/sections/pages) the form on PC, let SAVE, but again the the SAVEd form should ALWAYS in lock/non-editable state
Pls. help, where should i write the JS for this grp_2 case, JS Code snippet pls?
I guess, i need to write some piece in PreSave (as i am doing for grp_1) and fields "open" peice is in docClose or Validate event as below link tells, not sure

  • I created a form using acrobat XI pro.  SOME users of the form cannot save the form.  what can i do from my side to 'correct' the issue?

i created a form using acrobat XI pro.  SOME users of the form cannot save the form.  what can i do from my side to 'correct' the issue?

Do you know what PDF viewer those users were using? Do you have any more details about what happens when they attempt to save?

  • I have set form fields as User required and yet the form still prints/save when empty.

I have set form fields as User required and yet the form still prints/save when empty. I also have an email button on the form but that works correctly by not allowing the user to email the form with the required fields empty.
What script do I need to additionally restrict both printing and saving if the required fields are empty?
You would think that just setting that option would restrict those functions the same as it does for the email button.
Please be specific with your response if you are gracious enough to offer one. I have been searching the forum all morning for the answer to this and I really didn't understand any of the solutions offered to others enough to use those in my own form.
    The required fields are:
    Social (social security number)
    Name
    Headquarters
    Residence
The next question I have is if there is a way to make individual signature fields mandatory if they are digital signatures?
In other words, I don't want the individual to be able to email the form to the next person if he/she hasn't applied their digital signature.

Saving can always be done, even when mandatory fields are empty.  This is by design.  And that is correct.  Suppose you have a big form and 2 people need to fill it out.  How can you fill out a first part and then send it to the second person without saving.
Same for printing.  Same for your signature fields.
What I would do, is to put a "watermark" on the form that you show on preSave and prePrint if the form is incomplete.  Just a static text on your form.  Then the user will see that they need to do more.  Also, on preSave and prePrint, you can show a warning popup to tell the user about the missing fields.  You can then still cancel their action if the user decides not to save/print anyway.

  • How do i create a form in live cycle E4 that i can save as a PDF that the user cannot save over?

How do i create a form in live cycle E4 that i can save as a PDF that the user cannot save over?

You can't. If the file is made read-only via the file system, the user will prompted to save as a new file if they attempt to save.

  • How do I create a form that enables the user to save the form filled in?

When I create the form, save it and open it later, I get the message that the form can only be saved empty - without whatever the user filled into the text fields. Why is this and how can I enable the form to be saved including the content of the fields?

It should only say that when used with Reader versions prior to version 11. If you have Acrobat, you can Reader-enable the form, allowing it to be saved in versions prior to 11, and 11 as well. Exactly how you do this depends on what version of Acrobat you're using:
A9: Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader
A10: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features
A11: File > Save as Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (includes form fill-in & save)

  • Can users add an attachment & save the form?

I am attempting to create a form that users can download, fill out & submit with an attachment. It appears that the only way to add an attachment is the use an online (web form). But I don't see how users can save the online (web form) prior to submitting it.
Is there a workaround that will accomplish adding an attachment & saving the form?

Basically you are correct. Web forms currently have no way of locally saving them prior to submission. You could turn on email notifications found in the options tab to allow the user to see the data they entered.
