Domain change / Spiceworks pings a nonexistent domain

My company is in the process of switches email providers, moving from johnstown.k12.oh.us to jmk12.org. The email I signed up with is a jmk12.org email, and so Spiceworks keeps attempting to ping jmk12.org — a nonexistent domain. How would I go about changing the ping alert to ping my original domain? I already changed my user settings to use the original email.
Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but I'm new and can't for the life of me figure it out, if it's even possible.

Migrating Spiceworks to a new domain

Hi,We are currently migrating between domains, and I have been tasked with migrating Spiceworks. I've moved between servers before by exporting the database and re-importing it on the new server, but this is slightly different.The install is AD integrated, and we are moving from one domain to the other. The username structure will be the same but obviously change due to the domain change (e.g: domain1\abc becomes domain2\abc.) However, the email address is staying the same which uses a different domain name which we just use for email.We want to preserve the logged tickets, users logged against tickets, AD logon to the portal, avoid duplication in the people database (e.g: avoid one entry on each domain for each person) and keep the network scan.Is there some sort of conversion tool or script to run to help with this?Thanks,Dan

Hello Spiceworks,Can someone please help with the following situation?I have an email domain set up using Horde (mail.my-company-name.com) and a set of email addresses ([email protected]). XID-- Change Local User SAPServiceXID to Domain\SAPServicesXID

Hi All.
We have to change local SAPServiceXID User to Domain\SAPServiceXID User
boths users are administrators into the Administrator Group.
If we start the three central instances(Database,Abap,JAVA) with local User there is no problem.
when we replace the local user to Domain\user and tries access to http://Host:50000/rep -->The page cannot be displayed, but in SAP Manage Console, the service green and from TCODE SMICM Java stack is green too.
any idea??

How to change the full host and domain name on OS X Leopard...

I recently bought an iMac, and I'm trying to configure it for my network. The question I have is, how can I change the host name and domain name from Skuld.local to skuld.tolharadys.net?
After mucking around with a few searches on Google, I've gotten the domain name to stick since running domainname returns tolharadys.net. Also I can change the hostname as reported by 'hostname' temporarily by running 'hostname skuld.tolharadys.net' in Terminal.app. However, this isn't persistent after reboots. Ideas are welcome.

You would need a DNS server on your network configured to answer authoritatively for that particular subdomain.

Data element and domain change problem

Hi Gurus!
I changed a Key figure's domain in our system.
The users would like the Key figure with 5 decimal places, but there was only 3 decimal places.
I did the changes based on this document:

Everything is fine in our develop system.
But when I transport the changes to our test system, there are some error messages after the transport.
The transport's return code is 8.
The error messages are:
InfoObject ZIND (or ref.) used in InfoProvider with data managmnt.-> Error:
InfoObject ZIND: Decimal places was changed from 000003 to 000005
InfoObject ZIND being used in InfoCube ZPCA_R01 (contains data)
I don't want to delete any datas from the cube (this will be critical in our productive system).
I tried to activate the Key figure and the cube, I tried "Activate and adjust database" option in trn. SE14, but nothing helped.
Do you have any alternate ideas?

Importance of Certification for Domain Change

Hi,
I have two years experience in development in .Net technologies in a reputed MNC. After that I took a break for personal reasons and now am planning to get back into the industry. During that period of work, i had taken part in a "boot camp" carried out by my company itself in SAP PI/XI 7.1, which perked a lot of interest in me towards SAP. Domain change, unfortunately, was not encouraged in my company, at least at my level.
I am now looking forward to doing Certification in a SAP module. I have a few questions.
1. Even though I have coding experience, will I be counted as a fresher, since it is not in SAP technologies? I think Certification is important towards improving my chances in improving my chances in securing a job as a SAP consultant?
2. I am leaning more towards functional modules than technical. My work exposed me more towards communications end, especially mobile app development, can any one suggest a good module i should look into? I liked SAP PI/XI since including a bit of coding as well, which i though would be good for me since i have experience in that domain, but some consider it as an advanced module, so I'm really not sure.

Hi Arnab,
1. As far as SAP is concerned, you would be considered as a fresher. However, your .net experience would be some handy. SAP Certification may help to market your CV being a fresher. At the end of day, whether you have Certification or not, you need to show case and prove your abilities in the interview.
2. Particularly, mobile technologies have good demand. You should follow the mobile technology space on SCN. There are some wonder people in this area, I am sure, they would be able to advise you in more details.

Oracle Enteprise manager 11g has stopped working after domain change

We are currently running Oracle 11g on our environment. It was working fine until the domain change. how can i reconfigure oracle such that it can work on the new domain without uninstalling. Oracle runs on morethan eight production VM Windows 20008 R2 servers.

System Domain Change

We will soon be going through a Domain change from "NTDP" to "GOVT".
There is a fair amount of shall we say...hesitation (trying to be nice)...regarding what types of changes, if any, are required for the Business Objects Enterprise XI R2 system. Is anyone aware of any existing documentation regarding such a change?
For example, the configuration tab on all of the crystal servers tell me that the "CMS belongs to cluster 'WIT157.NTDP.Henrico". However, we don't really "cluster" the CMS. In other words, there is only 1 CMS server, not multiple. Regardless, will that cluster name need to change to GOVT? Or this name just a name.
Any other recommendations on things to look into regarding a Domain change like this?
It's been a while since BO XI was installed. Years. I'm not sure anyone's really paid it a lot of attention in this whole domain change things. Trying to make sure this app doesn't slip through the cracks.

The domain change will appear as a server name change in releases prior to XI 3.x. You may need to recreate the server/services. There are SAP notes on this in the SMP.
If you have any services running under AD accounts you must insure they can still run in the new domain (or if the old domain is going away) you will need to create their accounts in the new domain. You will need a domain account for various reasons(like sending reports to a network location or to enabling kerberos).
If you use AD or NT authentication enabled then you may need a lot more planning depending on what's happening to the old domain.

I have developed check printing for client.
I am getting ZNME1( Name of the Vendor ) field from REGUH table .
But ZNME1 field length is 35 characters.
But my client wants field length is 60 characters..
i have taken access key from basis consultant and changing domain character size to 60 but domain is not activating.
Now this domain is effected to all other transactions and when they are executing it is moving to dump.
How to recover from this critical situation..

First change the domain to orignal one.
if you are not able to change it then
1. dobukle clcik on domain
2. Menu Utilities->Version->Version management (get the version in which autjor is SAP) and click check box in front of it and click the RETRIEVE button.
But my client wants field length is 60 characters
You can't enter vendor name here... If the vendor name is more than 35 char then rest of name will come into field ZNME2 and you have to concatenate ZNME1 and ZNME2 and then output on screen.

Running the commands SystemPropertiesComputerName or "sysdm.cpl" in command line will open the System Properties window. I still have to click on the "Change" button to
get to the Computer Name/Domain Changes window. Is there a command to get to the
Computer Name/Domain Changes window directly? I have been searching the internet for several days. I've also tried using SendKeys (batch file, VBScript, and in PowerShell) and to send two TABS
and an ENTER key but I can't get it to work. The command doesn't seem to work on the
System Properties window.

Domain change from Local

Hi Alex:
Yes, you can change the current installation from Local to Domain based; I don't think there's a document to perform that; do the following:
1) Create both the Service Account and the <SID>ADM users on the DC.
2) Add the computer has a member of the new domain and logon with the new domain user <SID>ADM to create the domain user profile in the server. The logoff and logon with the local <SID>ADM now copy the current user profile to the new domain based; that is to have all environment variables in the new domain user. You can do this from My Computer (right click)
3) Add the users account from the domain as a member of the local Administrators and any SAP (global and local) groups in the local server.
4) Shutdown the SAP instance and DB instance; I assume you are running MSSQL Server 2000.
5) Shutdown the SQL Server services.
6) Now open Services.msc and search for the SAP services; double click on it and go to Logon tab and change the account from LOCAL to DOMAIN based; I will suggest browsing within the new domain to find the user IDs.
7) Repeat each step for every SAP instance service and for the SQL services if they are configured with the Local SAP accounts.
8) Start DB and SAP
I think that's all!
BTW; have a current backup always!!!

The system will not work/come up after you switched the domain. You will need to adapt the permissions on the filesystem for the new users (in the new domain), registry permission, OPS$-Users (in case of Oracle) and various other things.
I suggest you do a system copy instead (backup the system, delete it, switch domain and reinstall).

VTP domain change

Hi,
Our network runs in one VTP domain. All switches are Cat6500 (ISO) sup2 or sup720. All is working in Layer 2.
We are using vlans above 1000 which cannot be propagated by VTP and needs to be configured by hand on every switch. We changed the VTP domain so every 6500 switch was its own VTP domain and then trouble started ... something strange occured. The MAC addresses were not propagated to other switches in vlan (layer 2 only vlan). Putting static entries did not solve the problem. The MAC addresses in the same VLAN were only propagated from access1(VTP access1) to core1(VTP core1),but not to the access2 (VTP access2). Same thing the other way.
On switches that we didnt change vtp, everything worked fine. After couple of hours trying to solve the problem, I changed back to same VTP domain for all switches and MACs starts propagate.
What was cousing this problem ?

VTP doesn't know propagate advertisements outside the vtp domain. It, rather maintains information consistency between the switches in the same vtp domain through the trunk links.
Configuring different vtp domain is the same as isolating each switch in a domain.
PS:
"You can use VTP to manage VLANs 1 to 1005 in your network. (Note that VTP does not support
VLANs 1025 to 4094.)
When you make a change to the VLAN configuration on a VTP server, the change is propagated to all
switches in the VTP domain. VTP advertisements are transmitted out all trunk connections, including
Inter-Switch Link (ISL), IEEE 802.1Q, IEEE 802.10, and ATM LAN Emulation (LANE).
VTP servers advertise their VLAN configuration to other switches in the same VTP domain and
synchronize their VLAN configuration with other switches based on advertisements received over
trunk links. VTP server is the default mode.
Each switch in the VTP domain sends periodic advertisements out each trunk port to a reserved multicast
address. VTP advertisements are received by neighboring switches (in the same domain), which update their VTP and VLAN
configurations as necessary.
The following global configuration information is distributed in VTP advertisements:
VLAN IDs (ISL and 802.1Q)
Emulated LAN names (for ATM LANE)
802.10 SAID values (FDDI)
VTP domain name
VTP configuration revision number
VLAN configuration, including the maximum transmission unit (MTU) size for each VLAN

We have around 500 remote distribution point servers. We are going through a domain change for the company. I have read that domain change is not supported officially, so does anyone know the best way we can move all the content library and data from
1.abc.com server to 1.xyz.com server?
Is there is other way we can change the domain of the existing server, and not go through a process of building 500 more servers and move the data?
