Domain forwarding to specific pages

hello!
I know this question was asked by someone else and is already answered but I cannot find that thread anymore. I did not bookmark it or something and finally gave up searching after 30 mins. I hope the one who answered it the first time will be so nice to do it again...
I use domain forwarding from a registered domain to my .mac account. That works fine but I want to give friends the link to a specific page.
The setting now is: www.domain.com --> http://web.mac.com/dotmacname/iWeb/sitename
When I try to go to for example www.domain.com/certain_page.html all I get is the index.html. I do not want to show my .mac-url but still want to be able to give people the link to a specific page. What should I do to accomplish this?
Thanx in advance!

See if you domain registrar also offers "subdomain" forwarding. For a domain name http://www.domain.com, the "www" part is the subdomain. If subdomains are allowed, then you can configure these to forward anywhere just like the main domain name.
Example:
Here is my own personal domain: http://www.dirtdoog.com
It forwards to http://web.mac.com/jwtseng/iWeb/
But I also have several subdomains that are forwarded to specific pages...
http://blog.dirtdoog.com <== goes directly to my blog
http://guestmap.dirtdoog.com <== goes directly to the guestmap
http://gallery.dirtdoog.com <== goes directly to the gallery
http://funhouse.dirtdoog.com <== goes directly to the funhouse
All of these subdomains point to specific pages of the same site. You can also forward subdomains to different sites altogether...
http://travel.dirtdoog.com <== goes to my Homepages site.
I'm sure you get the idea. Just ask your domain registrar for the details or look in your domain name account. I am with GoDaddy, so if you are too I can talk you through it.

  • How to redirect a sub domain to a specific page in Sharepoint Online

    Hi,
      My Organisation has a O365 account, and hoisted the public website on it, now user requests to have a friendly url for a specific page on the public website.  I've added a sub domain on O365.  but i cant find ways to redirect this domain
    to the page.  How can i do so?

    Hi,
    If you need to redirect the sub domain to a specific page in SharePoint Online, you need to rename the Public Website with the sub domain.
    Then configure the friendly URL for the page in the Public Website.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/office365-sharepoint-online-enterprise-help/upgrade-your-public-website-HA102801184.aspx?CTT=5&origin=HA102828142#_Step_5_%E2%80%93
    Or you can use the managed metadata navigation for the Public Web site and configure the friendly URL for the page.
    http://jeffkelly.com/2014/05/office-365-public-website-what-no-managed-metadata-mms-navigation/
    In the meanwhile, you can post your question to the forum for Office 365: http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/default.aspx.
    More experts will assist you, then you will get more information relation to SharePoint Online.
    Best regards.

  • Hyperlink to a specific page in .mac website does not work

    I used iWeb '06 to create a website. Published it to .mac. Every thing is hunky dory. I have another domain name at godaddy forward you to my .mac site. When I send a hyperlink to the godaddy domain name for the website, the site opens just fine. When I send a hyperlink link to a specific page in the website, I get an error message from .mac that 'the user does not exist...' Any idea on how to fix it so I can send a link to a specific page in the website?

    Could you provide your url and the hyperlink? If you are using masking/cloaking at godaddy, there is no way to refer to a specific page except via the web.mac.com url.

  • How do I set a Phase Listener to only run for a specific page?

    How do I set a Phase Listener to only run for a specific page?
    I understand that a Phase Listener runs for ever page in the application, however I want a phase listener to only run for one page at the beginning of the application.
    I discovered I can't use a Filter, because the JSF Application instance always returns null.
    Thus, I thought a Phase Listener would be a good approach.
    Thoughts?

  • IWeb/Domain Forwarding/.mac question

    Hello Everyone
    I have been lurking in the forum for some time, and now have a question. I did a search for it without any luck, so here goes.
    I have a website I created using iWeb, with a domain I purchased from GoDaddy. I have domain forwarding and domain Masking both enabled. The issue I have is that each page shows only the purchased URL. In other words, I cannot direct someone to an individual page. I would like the pictures page to show up as purchased domain/pictures, and the links page to show up as purchased domain/links.
    We had a discussion involving this on a MMUG I belong to. There are 3 of us who all have domains purchased from GoDaddy. The 2 of us hosting on .Mac have the above mentioned issue with the URL. The one person hosted elsewhere (not GoDaddy), has distinct URL's for each page. This leads me to believe the root of the issue resides with .Mac hosting. Does this make any sense?
    FWIW, I asked the same question to .Mac support and got nowhere. They just sent me a response explaining what domain forwarding is.
    Dual 2.0 G5 Rev A - PowerBook 17" 1.33   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    The masking feature that you describe is just that.... it masks the actual URL with whatever URL you give it...in this case the URL for your domain. So if you type in http://www.yourdomain.com and have it masked and forwarded to your .Mac pages, that URL is the only URL you will ever see in the address bar of your browser. This is the expected behavior for masking.
    There are some different things you can do with your domain, though...
    Remember that your forwarded domain basically replaces the relevant portion of your .Mac address. I will use my domain name and .Mac iWEb address for example.
    http://www.dirtdoog.com ==> forwards to http://web.mac.com/jwtseng/iWeb
    So anytime I see my .Mac URL, I can replace the whole initial section with my domain name...
    http://web.mac.com/jwtseng/iWeb/kate/MyWorld/MyWorld.html
    can be directly replaced with...
    http://www.dirtdoog.com/kate/MyWorld/MyWorld.html
    And because I have masking turned on, this is the URL that will stay in my address bar.
    For your purposes, you might be interested in assigning subdomains. This feature is located under "Total DNS control". It lets your replace the "www" with a sub-domain that again can be forwarded to any URL. You can use this to forward directly to your photos page using this...
    http://photos.yourdomain.com
    That would work too, if you had a page that you commonly like to give out to people.

  • App crashes when trying to edit specific page

    I need to edit a specific page of my site and I cannot open it as the app crashes when trying to. Does this happen often? It is my wife's business site and she is a novice so we are wondering if we should move to a more stable platform. There is nothing fancy on the page. We bought into iLife specifically because it was easy for her to manage and are interested to know if others see the same thing.

    Your Public Profile indicates you're running Mac OS X (10.4.10) — if that's the case, you should upgrade to 10.4.11 via  menu > Software Update... then update your Public Profile and try editing your site again.

    iWeb is designed for personal sites and is a minor part of Apple's software repertoire. I suggest you consider web-design apps from companies dedicated to their product. Weebly is free and web-based — so you can update the site from any Mac or PC. It also offers e-commerce features:

  • Forward to new page

    Hello,
    On clicking a column , I open a new popup page.(page 2)
    now in the popup page 2, i need to put some logic to forward to a specific page based on the parameter value
    example in page headers of Page2-- i want to put some logic if paramvalue= A forward to Page3 else forward to Page 4
    how can I do that?
    thanks,
    Arun

    Hi
    You can use jQuery to accomplish this. Assuming you are passing a parameter value to page 2 say it is P2_ITEM_VALUE. Now you can place the following javascript in the page 2 header this will execute on page load.
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $(function () {
            var txt = $('#P2_ITEM_VALUE').val();
            if (txt == 'A') {
                window.location.replace("http://someurl.com");
                //alert("You have entered A");
            } else {
                window.location.replace("http://anotherurl.com");
    </script>Hope this helps.

  • Want to automatically forward an iWeb page to another page...

    Hello all,
    I've decided to use blogger instead of the iweb system for my blog, since it's much easier to work with it off site. However, I want to automatically forward visitors to the blogspot page when they hit the "blog" tab on the pages... The way I have it currently, visitors have to click on a separate hyperlink to get to the actual blog....
    Is there a way to automatically forward visitors when they click on the "blog" link to the blogspot address?
    My website is: www.danevans.org ... the specific page I'm speaking about can be found at: http://web.mac.com/motoelvis/iWeb/DanielEvansWeddingPhotography/Blog.html

    1. In iWeb:
    Create a dummy page in your site called "Blog"
    (You have already basically done this)
    Make sure the dummy page is included in the nav bar.
    (You've already basically done this too)
    Put something like "If you have reached this page, then I am in the process of updating the site. Normally, clicking Blog in the navigation bar would take you to my Blog. CLICK HERE to visit my Blog." (CLICK HERE = a text link to your blog)
    Publish your site.
    2. Find your html files.
    Go to iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/Sitename/Pagename.html
    There are two ways to handle accessing your iDisk.
    Method 1:
    Turn on local copy of your iDisk in System Prefs, with or without automatic syncing.
    If you publish your site via iWeb, now the updated pages exist online but the old pages are on your local iDisk. You need to sync (automatically or manually) to get the new pages on your local iDisk (on your computer).
    Then you can open the updated files, make your html changes in Text Edit or whatever program, and SYNC AGAIN (automatically or manually) to update the online version of the site to match what you have just changed on your local iDisk
    Method 2:
    Mount the iDisk when needed via the "Go" menu in Finder. This is the ONLINE VERSION of your iDisk, not a local copy. When you publish your site via iWeb, the changes INSTANTLY appear on the iDisk on your desktop. If you make html edits or other changes, they appear INSTANTLY online.
    I recommend Method 2 - much easier!!!
    3. Make the html changes.
    You can open the html files generated by iWeb in any text or html editor. In TextEdit, to view the code in an HTML file, choose File > Open and select "Ignore rich text commands." Then locate the .html file (as described in step 2) and click Open.
    For all the pages in "DanielEvansWeddingPhotography" except for Blog.html, search for
    href="Blog.html"
    Replace with
    href="http://marriedtotheblog.blogspot.com/"
    Now open DanielEvansWeddingPhotography/Blog.html
    Find
    </head>
    Replace with
    <META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" content="0;URL=”http://marriedtotheblog.blogspot.com/">
    If someone gets to this page via Google or something, it will automatically redirect them to the correct page.
    And don't forget to save your changes (not Save As, just Save)!!!
    4. Remember, if you make a change to a page like this post-publishing, and later re-publish, you have to make the html changes again! Set up a Find/Replace command in MassReplaceIt and you can do this very quickly. You can save your queries so you can make all of your changes with one click the next time you save.

  • CNAME vs Domain Forwarding - Can somebody explain this to me?

    Currently I have several domain names and hosted space at GoDaddy. I publish to a folder and upload to GoDaddy. I also have a .Mac account. I'd edit the html so that the GoDaddy site would still have the Apple slide shows, and so forth...
    Now that iWeb '08 has the CNAME functionality, I guess I'll terminate the GoDaddy hosting and use just the .Mac account. I've got quite a mess to undo here...
    Now the questions, how does CNAME differ from domain forwarding & masking? What do I need to tell GoDaddy to make all this happen? I searched their help and the CNAME part was a bit vague.

    I too need an answer to the same question as I have a domain name with another registrar and they say the cname is name specific which web.mac.com certainly is not ??????

  • Starting wiki service breaks domain forwarding

    I have two domains hosted at GoDaddy that are forwarded to my server with masking (one is http://www.internationalworkshops.org). One of my other users requested wiki service, so I turned that on, and now the forwarded domains come up as blank pages. When I view the page source, all appears well (it's an HTML 4.01 document using frames to show the content on my server), but only a blank page comes up in my browser. If I turn off wiki service, then the domain forwarding works properly again.
    Any ideas on how I can get both services to work at the same time?

    Aiiiii.
    took all my forwarders off and then decided to check my Spam filter and viola the email is in my Spam box.
    got to simplify things over here and getting a new domain host would be a nice start.
    sorry for the long post.

  • Which Domain Forwarding sites offer meta tags?

    I am soon going to publish my website through .mac with iweb. I have some expirience with webdesign in the past and I know that .mac does not have meta tag implementation.
    That being said I know some domain forwarding cann allow you to implement keywords and meta tags into the forwarding url. In the past I know .co.nr the free domain forwarding site allows this. that way when you searched for thissite.co.nr the keywords and description you entered would be displayed. I am not sure if other places allow for this same sort of meta tag placement for domain forwarding. This would really help with overcoming the issue with meta-tags in iWeb if possible.
    Does anyone know what domain sites offer this sort of feature? Does Godaddy.com?

    newmacguru,
    The situation is a little bit different with masked Domain Forwarding. The meta-information is placed into the frames code which is responsible for the masking. Since this code is generated by the domain forwarding setup, it is not available for editing like other iWeb HTML files. Futhermore, with a masked Domain Forwarding setup, search engines that find the domain URL only see the frames code and whatever meta-information is contained in the frames code. So even if you add meta-information to the iWeb HTML pages behind the masking domain name, the search engines will never see it.
    This is one major downside to using masked domain forwarding.

  • IIS 7.5 URL Rewrite: Hit specific page of a web application but should be redirected to another application's page

    I have deployed 2 different web application on IIS 7.5 running on Windows Server 2008 R2 but on different port numbers i.e. one application deployed on port no. 1776 and another on 8091. I want to rewrite URL in such a way that if i hit any page of first
    application such as default.aspx then it will be redirected to particular page of another application along with some changes in url.
    Example: if i access any page from first application like:
    http://g2wv126rbsc:1776/sites/main/commercial/commercial-solutions/financing/default1.aspx
    then it should redirect to specific page of another application along with some changes in url:
    http://g2wv126rbsc:8091/main/commercial/commercial-solutions/financing/default2.aspx
    Note: In above mentioned url, also removed "sites".
    I tried to create a inbound rule through URL Rewrite module (installed on IIS 7.5) by selecting Action as "Rewrite" but didn't find any success.
    I need some examples if anyone has come across same kind of issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    When I publish my site on one specific page where I've added {tag_pagecontent} I get the error:
    'Some files on the server may be missing or incorrect. Clear browser cache and try again. If the problem persists please contact website author.'
    I'm trying to get a blog module going, I've even deleted the html insert bog with the tag in and re-published which then I don't get the error but as a result no blog either. But then I add the tag in again and publish the error comes back. I've used the dev console and it says that my musicians sample.css is out of date but why is it only out of date when I add in html to my muse site?
    HELP!!!! I've searched other threads and to no avail I'm publishing so no direct ftp going on. the only thing I changed in business catalyst was the module stylesheet in order to style the blog. I've tried uploading and replacing all files nothing seems to work. the site is here:
    http://www.musicstudentsforhire.co.uk/musicians-samples.html
    It's only this page as it has the blog on. Also I've noticed when I've re-published occasionally it will show the mobile version on my desktop and not the desktop version??? no idea why that's happening so I've had to turn that off. any explanation on why that is happening would also be much appreciated.

    I haven't received an answer as of yet, I'll post t on here when I do. I de-activated the mobile site because it's my clients site so he needs it to be operational during the day. I hope someone gives me an answer soon.

    ryanj4799 You'll need to change the Menu Type to Manual in the widget's options and add the links yourself. Then go to the Hyperlinks panel. Check the option to open in a new tab/window.
