Domain IWEB Mobileme

Hi, I have a question that is driving me crazy! I want to publish a page made with iWeb mobileme, I took an all-in hosting domain to redirect to mobileme and leave the url of the page I want. The page is www.dinoaldolor.com I have already added the mobile domain and post me what I published as www.dinoaldolor.com / NOALDOLOR and what I want is that I published as www.dinoaldolor.com. So I can not visit the website or do anything because the domain does not match the one I've purchased. X Please Help!
Thanks

  • Google finding iWeb mobileme site

I have an iWeb mobileme site and a separate domain name linked. Google can't find it.
Does a site have to be hosted separately for this to happen?

In terms of SEO, iWeb sites aren't that different from any other site. It's slightly more challenging to accomplish some things, but for the most part, you can nail all of the important on-page optimizations on iWeb that you could if you were to have an HTML/CSS website.
But anyways, if your site isn't commercial and traffic isn't a big issue for you, then you don't really need to worry about SEO or hosting. If you want to be found to some degree, ie. typing your site URL into Google, then you just need to create and submit an XML Sitemap and you're good to go.

  • If I use my own domain with mobileme, does it work with google search?

I've noticed something, I used to only access my page with web.me.com/NAME and it shows up relatively at the top of of the google search results when I search for NAME or things related to me.
Since then I have started using my own domain which I have bought from godaddy.com. Now I'm not sure if I am doing it right, but at godaddy, I setup this forward to web.me.com/NAME as a 301 site move. When I type in my own domain, it gets redirected ok but the problem is it never shows up in google. It doesn't show up if i search for "mydomainname" or "mydomainname.com" or anything.
Any ideas? Does forwarding (cloak) does not work with search engines?

You are referring to IP addresses and Nameservers. You DON'T need these if you are using CNAME forwarding. They are not required.
Normally, when you set up CNAME forwarding you would delete the A record and set-up CNAME in its place. At least this is what I had to do when I used CNAME forwarding with MobileMe. I went to my DNS settings and there were A records against both @ and www. I had to delete both of these and set up new records, one for @ with CNAME that pointed to web.me.com and then the other for www, CNAME that also pointed to web.me.com.
What you have done sounds right, in that your domain name is pointing to web.me.com that is where your new website is with iWeb/MobileMe.
I think your problem is due to your old website that you created with Microsoft Office Live. You seem to have used the same domain name with this? If so, have you deleted your old site that you created with Microsoft Office Live?
I don't quite know how Microsoft Office Live works, but I know that you can create a site with them quite quickly using their templates and colour themes, although it is limited as to what you can do and probably is not as good as iWeb. Did you register the domain name through them and then publish? How do you publish to their server? You need to remove this site totally from the server so that your domain name will just be linked to your iWeb/MobileMe site.
I think the problem lies with your old site and Microsoft Office Live rather than your CNAME settings at GoDaddy. Investigate this first.

  • Domain iWeb (Snow) do not open in Maverick

When I open my Domain iWeb  (made in Snow) in Maverick I have a empty iWeb.  What can I do? I am shure there are a solution.... thanks for your help.

In Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible in Lion or Mt. Lion enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.
To open your domain file in Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Publish my own domain with MobileMe, but redirect to iDisk

I followed the steps from Apple: added my domain in MobileMe site and changed "www" CNAME to "web.me.com." with my registrar. After publishing my own domain with MobileMe, my site was redirected to iDisk. Anything I did wrong? Thanks for advise!

Hey Paul, I got my problem resolved. I used some capital letters when setting up my personal domain name in MobileMe "Personal Domain". I changed them all to lower case, published my site again and voila. All is good!!

  • Personal Domain Names in iWeb/MobileMe?

Why is it that MobileMe will now not accept UK domain names? I have a .co.uk domain name and can no longer use it with the new MMe.
When I first started to use iWeb and .Mac I purchased a UK domain name and had it entered in the personal domain name section and .Mac accepted it with no problem at all and I had my site redirected using the CNAME option for a long time.
Now .Mac has become MobileMe, it will no longer accept UK domain names, only domains ending in .com, .net, .org etc. Due to this, I can no longer use the personal domain name option of my MMe account and I did not want to re-direct to my domain using web forwarding so have had to publish my site to a folder and ftp up to my host server space. Now I don't mind doing this, as it does not take that long and the whole site loads more quickly anyway, but I would just like to know why MMe does not now accept UK domain names now when .Mac always used to?
This is irritating because it means that I am not able to use my MMe account to the full and as I live and work in the UK it did seem more appropriate to purchase a UK domain name rather than a .com or a .net.
Perhaps Apple should look at this again, as not accepting UK domain names excludes a lot of British users!!

What the heck is wrong with some people on this site! The guy was simply asking for advice!
I got a similar snotty reply from someone in a post I made in which I was simply asking for advice from other users.
I thought this was a SUPPORT Forum? Sheesh!
Anyway, I am glad that Ethmoid posted about MobileMe and the problem with it and .co.uk domains. I was thinking of signing up to MobileMe and using iWeb for my blog and having it redirected to a .ie domain. But if this problem keeps up then it looks like I won't.
    Happy happy forum!

  • IWeb Domain and MobileMe

I have two mobile me accounts and maintain two websites. I back up the domain(s) on removable hard drives and usually work on the site from a variety of office and home computers via the removable HD, save domain to removable HD and then upload being sure I am logged into MobileMe as the correct "user" for the site. Is it possible to upload the site to thel MobileMe site that corresponds to the accounts...download the domains from any location, update, and then upload to the host and then to my MobileMe account.... naturally being sure I am logged incorrectly.
Also, is there a way, to work on each site separately and upload to the Mac host without having to sign in separately to the individual MobileMe account that corresponds to the site?
    Appreciate the advice. Thanks.
    Art

download the domains from any location, update, and then upload to the host
If you are talking about storing your domain files on a server someplace, I think this is possible in theory but may not work well in practice because of their possibly large size and the time needed to download and upload them.
is there a way, to work on each site separately and upload to the Mac host without having to sign in separately to the individual MobileMe account that corresponds to the site?
You certainly don't need sign on to anything to just work on a site in iWeb. But to publish it to the right place you have to at least set system preferences/mobileme to the username/password of the right account before hitting the Publish button.

  • IWeb / MobileMe / Site Sync?

Hi, I was hoping that iWeb sites across computers synced with MobileMe would be kept up to date that way, ie. machine x has sites 1,2,3 then machine y would have those same sites available for editing in iWeb. Is there a way to do this? thx!!!

You can use iWebSites to merge the two domain files into one. Rename both sites to represent the site name inside and put into your your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. Run iWebSites, select the two domain files and hit the merge button. A new domain file will be created containing both sites.

  • Iweb, mobileme, and godaddy HELP!

I purchased a domain from godaddy.com, designed the website on iweb '09, and have chosen to host the site through mobileme.
After an initial CNAME error on my part, I have been assured by godaddy reps that everything is correct on their end. I have set up the personal domain on my mobileme account, and have published the site from iweb '09 to mobileme. I have waited for the site to propogate onto godaddy servers, and the website is not pulling up. I get an error message that states that the website is temporarily unavailable. I tried republishing through iweb, and nothing seems to help.
My mobileme account is not set to private, and all of the mobileme information is showing correctly.
What do I do to fix this--fast?
    Thanks!

Thanks for your help. I spent 4 hours yesterday at my local apple store to see if anyone had additional ideas, and finally a representative deleted the site from my iweb and had me create a new user on my mac. I set up the site through iweb under the new user, but we were still having issues, so we went into godaddy and changed the url forwarding and then masked the site. It was the only solution that worked, and I am thrilled that the site is up and working. I had followed all of the godaddy instructions on the site, and so did the apple reps, (we were troubleshooting mobileme, iweb and godaddy simultaneously) but nothing provided by the godaddy site or godaddy representatives worked. It was just a long process of trial by error that eventually brought us to a solution.
Thank you, everyone for your suggestions, and please know that I tried each one--multiple times. I truly appreciate the help.

  • IWeb/MobileMe not accepting comments

Over the past week or so, I have had two people tell me that they can not leave comments on my blog. I have tried myself (from MacBook Pro, iPhone 4 and Dell/Windows) and can not get a comment to post. I get the pop-up comment window, enter my comment, enter my name and then enter the security "phrase" that is provided. Then, when I hit "Add Comment" it just sits there. It does not reqister at all. And this is all on a very simple MobileMe hosted site. No outside domain. No outside tools. Just iWeb and MobileMe.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone know if MobileMe is experiencing issues that are causing this? It sounds like I am not the only one.

I manage my wife's site which includes blogs on mobileme with comments. Readers leave comments, but other readers (or the same readers at other times) report they, too, cannot leave comments. My wife often cannot post a comment (the misdisplayed comment screen hangs just as you described). I had the same experience on my computer today. In my wife's case, using Firefox instead of Safari allowed her to comment. In my case, restarting my computer cleared up the problem. But the inability to enter comments happens to too many would-be commenters on different computer using different browsers at different times to ignore. I promised my wife I would investigate. I echo your question: Does anyone know a solution or have a handle on why users have this problem?

  • Possible to retrieve an '09 blog published on iWeb/MobileMe?

Argh. I published my family's travel blog a few years back using MobileMe (web.me.com/shwang), and stupidly forgot about it during the MobileMe/iCloud transition.  Is there any way to retrieve the blog's contents, with or without comments?

iWeb saves the assets of your website, webpages, blog posts and photoalbums in the domain.sites file on your computer.
    It's here :
    ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/
where ~ is your Home directory.
Only the comments were saved on the MMe server.
So you need the domain file to continue publishing on a new server. Comments are not supported on 3rd party webservers, so you could not see them anyway.
If you have no domain file and no backup, you'll have to start from scratch.

  • Transfer Blogger blog to iWeb/MobileMe

I want to move a blog from Blogger to iWeb and then publish it to MobileMe. The blog is currently published to my own domain and now I want to move the whole thing. How do I do that?

Blogger has various features you cannot duplicate in iWeb's blog. I would recommend you keep it and either link to it from an iWeb site or use an iframe on an iWeb page to incorporate it.

  • Dashcode And iWeb(mobileme) upload problem

Long story, short, I'm trying to make my Mobile Me Blog RSS feed into an iphone web app. In Dashcode I have the rss template set up and in the Application attributes URL Feed I have : http://web.me.com/username/MyAnnouncesments.rss.xml.
I have already uploaded the site in iWeb.
When I try uploading (deploying) the webapp in DashCode I get this error:
The deploy domain “idisk.me.com” is different from “web.me.com” used by data source “feedDataSource”. This can cause the web application to not function properly.
What is wrong? They are both mobile me hosted so I don't see the problem.
    How Do I fix this?

For some reason, iWeb thinks I own the domain name www.katiehughes.com and tries to post the pages there.
It doesn't actually try to "post the pages there." The only place it can post your pages is web.me.com/username, even when it says otherwise down at the bottom. So it really doesn't matter as far as what is happening to your site.
But go to your MobileMe account settings/personal domain and delete anything which is in there. If nothing is there, you might put in a nonsense url and see if that will replace katiehughes, and then delete that later.

  • Is iWeb + MobileMe hosting reliable enough for a small business?

I have a small business and am trying to get a website up. It will be less than 10 pages, mostly static informational stuff that will almost never change. I will have a few pictures and maybe about 10 documents that clients can download. I won't be doing any e-commerce, no shopping cart, etc...
I'd like to use iWeb '09 to create it and then just host it on my MobileMe account since that would obviously be the cheapest solution. But I didn't know if that was going to be as reliable as using a hosting service like GoDaddy or AT&T's service (that's who my business DSL is with). Those 2 are only about $15/month for everything (domain, hosting, etc...)
My other question, more related to iWeb, is whether GoDaddy's WebSite Tonight program was any easier to use than iWeb. I'm a complete novice to web page building. I've seen some really nice sites people have posted here that they created with iWeb, but I'm wondering how long it would take me to learn to do something that nice.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Judging by what most people complain about, MobileMe's reliability (uptime) appears to be satisfactory — there are more complaints of MobileMe being slow, but perhaps with only a few pages and pictures your clients won't notice.

iWeb is designed for personal sites and so Apple apparently assumes you'll simply pass your site's URL to friends & family. Web-design apps for business sites tend to integrate search engine optimization — Sandvox Pro is an example:
