Domain name deletion within Business Catalyst

I am trying to add a domain name to a website created with Muse and hosted through Business Catalyst, but I am receiving this error meassage 'Domain already exists. Please delete all records associated with the domain before re-adding it'. Anbody know how to do this please? The domain I need to use was used in a previous website which had a single, monthly Business Catalyst hosting subscription, and I now need to add this domain name to the website I am hosting through the included sites provided with the Creative Cloud monthy subscription.

  • Designing in Muse & Editing within Business Catalyst

    Hi everyone,
    Apologies upfront for the newbie question however I've struggled to find a topic which fully describes the relationship between BC and Adobe Muse. I've created site in Muse and happy with the look of the website, I've just realised that when published into BC I'm given some tight limitations, i.e. I can't create pages or modules in the BC admin...the options just aren't there, I can see the web forms I've created however. Am I right in thinking you are not allowed to fully edit the content?  Adobe want you to make updates within Muse and then upload the site each time. However, when you want to get Forms, Customer Logins and more advanced functionality working I'm going to need to make specific changes inside BC and within the markup, i.e. which means 'enabling editing options'.
    Therefore, does this mean you should design sites in Muse, pull them into BC and work on them purely from BC? I cannot see how you can maintain a link between Muse and BC because Muse is a piece of design software and BC is a CMS.... they do different things.
    The issue is, I setup a range of forms, a secure login area, develop more content in BC and then I want to make a significant design change which means going back into Muse and it overwriting everything which has just been setup... is there something I'm missing or is this how it works?
    I'd appreciate any help on this topic,

  • Redirect to another site in business catalyst

    Hello - I have a site that I would like to point my domain name to within business catalyst .  Not sure how to do this without creating an issue with my partner site.  So when people enter in www.mysite.com I want the other site to come up - not the site that has that domain name.  So does anyone know how to do a redirect within business catalyst without messing up your partner site?

    I have an existing site called www.design180.co.nz. But I have designed a new site. I want to replace the old site with the new one Ive redesigned Adobe in muse. The hosting company has the domain name, I will need them to point the domain name to the business catalyst, where the new site will be hosted. Ive 5 free accounts so I will use one of them. This is where I am stuck... Does he point to "ns1.worldsecuresystems.com (54.236.190.129)" - primary DNS server.
    At present the site is set up as a trial in Muse design18002.businesscatalyst.com
    After he points to the site can i save the muse site as www.design180.co.nz

    Hi there, I am guessing your reading the documentaiton. That is correct, if your pointing all traffic to your BC site you need to use those NS records.
    What you then do is go into your site admin, into site settings and manage domains. You need to set up your domain in there.
    Once you do that, it can take up to 24 hours for a .com, but for a .co.nz it should take about an hour or so tops to propergate. ISP's cache dns different so some may take longer, especially if someone is viewing outside NZ.

    Is there any way to Stop pushed live sites? For that matter is there a way to delete one of the 5 sites in Business Catalyst that comes with Creative Cloud?

    At the moment the sites cannot be deleted based on the FAQ below. 
    "How can i delete a Business Catalyst website?
    -You can't delete a website right now, but you will be able to do this later this year."

    However the site is not fully live until you decide to publish and add your domain to it.

    How do you permantly delete old business catalyst websites.
    I've been trying to permantly delete all these old business catalyst sites that keep showing up in the side bar that says "Websites" and u can "View" or "Manage" them. But every time i try to manage them they just go to a blank page worldsecureserver.net or something. What should i do?

  • I can't get a SWF file that runs perfectly in browsers to run in the Business Catalyst environment

    My website has 3 parts. The initial HTML page which upon opening plays a video. The link below gives you that.

      When the video ends a SWF file plays. The code below should show you what is supposed to happen.

      The difficulty is that the SWF file won't automatically play from the website within Business Catalyst. It all works perfectly when I run the webpage in different browsers through Dreamweaver. Also if I just double click the website file where it sits on my computer... the resident browser picks it up and all is well.
    I've already exchanged quite a few e-mails with Business Catalyst support and InDesign support... (The SWF file was created using InDesign) ...but we don't seem to be getting anywhere. I can't think of anywhere else to go... so... here I am.

             Let me see if I'm understanding you. Are you are saying that it
    takes a few seconds for the video to get going after the initial pages
    comes up? Yes, I'm aware of that, but it's only a few seconds and then it
    runs. Or are you saying that the SWF file takes time to get going?  I've
    opened the website http://wrysmilebooks.businesscatalyst.com, let the video
    run and simply waited, but nothing happens.
             However, I've noticed something curious. When I preview the Grid w
    flip html in BC, everything runs its course as it should. When I run it
    with http://wrysmilebooks.businesscatalyst.com there's something of a
    stall. The video has to end... the code to open the swift file is onended...
    but the fade to black at the end of the video never quite happens. A faint
    image which is not the last of the video can be seen on the screen. So...
    it appears the video hasn't really ended... so the SWF file doesn't run.
              So... does BC impose some limit on the length of a video when
    it's accessed through http://wrysmilebooks.businesscatalyst.com that it
    doesn't when its run within BC?

    I REALLY want to use Muse to create websites for my clients but if they can't update image/text content remotely then It's not going to work for me and 90% of freelance designers.
    Please can someone clear this up for me.

  • Publishing News & Events to business catalyst news and a newsletter

    I have a problem that I hope you can advise on.
    We have a school website hosted in business catalyst with news & events, seperate to that we have a weekly newsletter created using word and published as a pdf.  Since going live with the web site I've found that the website news & events are duplicates of information in the weekly newsletter.
    My question is this.  In an effort to stop double handling news & events, is there a simple way of creating news & events once and publishing to both a newsletter and a news item in business catalyst.  I have a creative cloud subscription and hope that one of the many tools in the creative cloud suite will allow this.

    If you want to do a payment that is not supported by BC you have to implement it yourself as Liam has suggested. The case study link is a good start, I've actually built this for a customer in the real world but you can't apply discount codes via the API (at this point in time) so it's better to do it via AJAX / JSONP and keep "most" of the frontend (and discount codes) on BC while the "processing" is done with another server and the API.

  • Transferring client email account to Business Catalyst

    Hello. A client is about to switch to their new BC hosted site. Their current email is hosted by the same company that hosts their email account and has been told that by cancelling their site hosting they will also be cancelling the email hosting, which sounds a bit irregular to me, but that's what I/they have been told. So, if they choose to use the BC site email host solution, will they still be able to use their current email addresses? How do I go about setting this up? Can anybody please direct me to clear documentation that explains the steps involved.

    Hi Grant Senior,
    You will need to firstly ensure that your domain is redelegated to Business Catalyst's nameservers: http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/846/cpsid_84622.html?bc-partner#main_Updating_the_nameser vers_. Once you have done this, simply add the domain to your site via the admin console > Site Settings > Site Domains. An MX record will be created automatically. After which, you can navigate to Site Settings > Email Accounts in order to create individual email accounts.

    Habe eine Creative Cloud Mitgliedschaft (Jahres-Abo). Kann aber keine "Website live schalten" in Business Catalyst. Liegt es daran? Und sollte das nicht gehen, wenn eine Creative Cloud Mitgliedschaft vorliegt?
