Domain name link up a mess

I am OS 10.5.6 on a MacBook Pro and iWeb '08. I have 3 iWeb sites. One site, let's call it "A" is the one I want linked to my domain name, so I reconfigured my CNAME to point to my me.com account. However, I can get only C to show up on my domain name site. So I changed my CNAME back to point straight to my domain name thinking I would upload the site (site A) FTP style onto my domain name account. It uploaded but only the welcome page and NO navigation menu. And now, none of my iWeb account show up after republishing them. What to do?

However, I can get only C to show up on my domain name site.
You need to make A the topmost site in the list at the left (or last site you uploaded, if you have separate domain files). That is what CNAME points to.
I changed my CNAME back to point straight to my domain name thinking I would upload the site (site A) FTP style onto my domain name account. It uploaded but only the welcome page and NO navigation menu.
You may have failed to upload everything. You must use a real ftp app like cyberduck and upload two items, the folder which has the same name as you gave your site inside iWeb, plus the index.html file that iweb creates alongside that folder.
none of my iWeb account show up after republishing them
What is the url (your iweb username and the sitenames)?

  • Mail autoformats domain name as link as I type

Just recently, I have noticed that Mail is autoformatting domain names as links, and leaving the insertion point before the thing it thinks is a link.
For example, if I type foo.bar.com and hit the spacebar, after a few moments I will see
    | foo.bar.com
(the '|' indicates where the insertion point has moved to)
This is quite annoying as I constantly write emails containing domain names and it really messes with my typing.
It is possible that this is due to the MailTags add-on that I have installed. I'll be checking that

That was very quick, silver.   Very many thanks.... still finding my way, as I use both English and French.
Will be back next time I get lost.

  • Why is a site asking me to renew my domain name

when ever i try to load my company's' site i am being redirected to another site with an information that my domain name has expired, i should renew my domain name.

a domain name links your site to the adress you enter in the browser url-bar (like www.example.com) and is usually only leased for a certain amount of time.
first of all you should inquire if this is a legit message by checking if your domain has indeed expired or will do so shortly. use a site like [http://www.internic.net/whois.html] (or one that applies to your countries TLD) to search for your the whois info of your domain & check the expiration date and registrar.
if expiration is due and the site you are redirected to belongs to the registrar, then you should indeed make arrangements with your domain name's registrar to renew the adress.

  • Domain name does not link to index page.

Having a lot of difficulty publishing to FTP, have researched many forums and unable to find answers. Whether I publish to FTP via iWeb or Cyberduck, my domain name danbaileymusic.com shows a 403 Forbidden Error. However if i type in danbaileymusic.com/index or /music, ect it loads. The whole site functions fine, but the domain name does not link to the index page.
In Cyberduck all permissions have been turned on. Also I noticed that when publishing to a local folder, iWeb creates a folder "danbailey" and an index.html. This index page does not work in Cyberduck, however the index page that is WITHIN the folder "danbailey" does work, but it doesn't link to the domain name.
Please help! I've been working on this for weeks and cannot figure out why the domain name is not working!

It only creates the page names with first letter capitalized (as in Index not index) I have tried changing it from the sidebar and from the Page Name in the Inspector -- typing "index" comes back as "Index" It's easy enough to change the "I" to an" i" at the file level (which did fix the problem) but doing this also breaks all the links I have to "Index.html" Fixing this on the creation side would be ideal. Thoughts?
I am using iWeb '09 v.3.0.1 if that makes a difference

Have several hundred PDF files with links to external files. Links were inserted into Word version prior to PDF'ing. Need a utility or batch tool to update the domain name in the links. For example:

Alternate solution might be to batch update the links in the Word files, then batch process new PDF files.  (Need advice on how to do batch update of Word files.)

  • My newly purhcased Domain Name does not appear in sidebar...how do I link

I have purchased southbaygunnersredondo.com and followed all the steps to link the name with the website I created using iweb. When I look at my me.com account, I see my new domain name listed and ready to use, but it doesn't show up in my sidebar in iweb so I have no idea how to link the domain name with the site I created. help-

    Is this the URL?
    http://www.southbaygunnersredondo.com/southbaygunnersredondo.com/Welcome.html
Try a shorter Sitename. It's a bit overdone to display it twice.
You do not have to link anything in iWeb.
iWeb gets the domainname from the MMe server and will only use it to create the RSS and subscription links.
You can keep using the web.me.com/username address and the domainname address.

  • Link domain name to .mac server

How do you link your own domain name to .mac server? please advice, thanks
    SIlver G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi
This is something that is done by your domain name host, so login to their site.
Search for domain name forwarding, or domain forwarding.
Here you enter the address that you wish to forward to.
The short address for an iWeb page on .mac is:
    http://web.mac.com/YourUserName
If you have more than one site and wish to forward to a specific one, then you can use:
http://web.mac.com/YourUserName/iWeb/SiteName <<-- Make sure the W in iWeb is a capital.

I created an iWeb site and would like to have my
domain .org point to that site to act as my
    official
web site for now. How do I go about that?
If you have put your iWeb site on .Mac, then you need
to go to the place where you have your .org domain
name and activate Domain Forwarding there.
If you want to put your iWeb site on a host which has
your .org domain name already, then you publish to a
    folder and upload via ftp.

  • The window where Domain Name, Edit, Modify doesn't show up to access my Fatcow website on my new iMac in Firefox (the only browser Macs can use). Help!

Just got a new iMac. For the first few days, I was able to log in to, then access the window in Fatcow web host that allows me to make changes to my website. Now, the window that is supposed to say "Domain Name" and "Edit" and "Modify" is blank, so I cannot access my website to make changes. Firefox is the only browser available to Macs through Fatcow. In the two weeks before getting the iMac, I had the same problem on an Acer laptop. Hughesnet is our internet provider, since we live in the country. I have worked with several Fatcow techs, and they do not believe the problem is on their end. When I open Firefox, there is now also a message that says I'm missing plugins, yet when I follow the plugin link, no plugins are listed as missing. I have removed/reinstalled Firefox, to no avail. I have turned off the clear-cookies-automatically add-on, cleared the cache and history, etc., to no avail. I have printed out the HTML script for the Fatcow window from my Mac at work (from which I can access the window) and compared to the one at home. There doesn't appear to be any script missing, but I can't say for sure. I have read several articles, hoping for clues to fixing this problem. Now I need your technical expertise. HELP!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
    <b> To Enable SafeMode </b>
*You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
*''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox"; Linux: "Firefox/File > Quit")

  • Multiple Web Sites with Personal Domain Names - Overview

I have read through the last 10 pages of these discussions and have almost worked this out, but I need some help.
    Problem:
I want to publish and edit two separate web sites with their own, individual, personal web addresses
from the same user account on the same Mac using iWeb '08 (2.0.2) and my .Mac account
    _So far:_
I have purchased and registered the two domain names (with Cheap-DomainRegistration.com)
I have configured the CNAME to point to web.mac.com, and "Set up a Personal Domain" in iWeb successfully, but using a separate Mac for each web site.
    The two sites work great.
_What (I think) I need to know:_
(excuse me for copying these posts out, but I can't find a way to link them to this post)
    1) Should I be using iWebSites as suggested by Old Toad (posted Jan 24 in response to StAnNe's "Multiple Websites--HELP!!!")?
I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
    2) Should I be using Mireille's approach (also posted Jan 24 in response to StAnNe's "Multiple Websites--HELP!!!")?
Yes you are correct in the thought that with a family pack you can use different accounts and that is the easiest way to upload with one click to .mac. But it is still possible to publish differents sites to one .mac account if that is all one has. Even if the sites are in one domain file each purchased mysite.com domain name purchased can be pointed to a different page in the site
    Look at it this way
    Original Poster has
site1 page 1 page 2 and so on
then he/she has brothersite page 1 and so on.
They each have a domain name purchase wherever
then site1domain.com is forwarded to site 1 page1
and brotherdomain.com is forwarded to brothersite page 1.
Even though both sites are in the same file they do not have anything to do with each other.
This is one possibility there are others but for a novice user this could be the way to go for simplicity.
(Mireille, if you're there, can you clarify what you said - thank you)
    3) Would I use Roddy's fix (posted Jan 23 in response to canadensis' "Publishing Multiple Websites?")?
Here's an example of how you can separate two websites that are on the same domain file.
    Quit iWeb
Create a new folder on your desktop and call it "iWeb Sites".
Inside this folder create two more - Website A, Website B.
Go to Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb and copy your domain file - command C
Paste this into folders A and B - command V - and also paste a copy of it somewhere else - like in Docs - in case you make a mistake!
Double click the domain file in the folder Website A - this will launch iWeb.
In the left column, delete site B, save and quit iWeb.
Double click the domain file in the folder Website B to launch iWeb.
Delete website A, save and quit.
Drop the iWeb sites folder into your Home Folder.
If you want quick access to this folder you can highlight it and do command L to create an alias to leave on the desktop.
From now on, to launch any site in iWeb you open its folder in the iWebsites folder and double click the domain file.
This is not necessary when you are working on only one site as iWeb saves the domain file of the last site you were working on to Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb. When you open the iWeb application, the last site you worked on will be launched.
    Summary:
I'm not sure if some of the answers in previous discussions allow for personal domain names, which is what I need.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions as I'm getting bogged down.
    Many Thanks,
    Jeff

When you said, "you don't need to do CNAME for both sites…", would this method still allow me to use personal web addresses for both sites?
Yes. With "Ordinary Forwarding" you normally just type your .Mac url (web.mac.com/username/sitename) into a form at the place where you have your name.
I thought I was using 'web.mac.com' as the 'www' CNAME (alias) for my personal domain name (web address), so that when someone typed in my personal domain name they would 'go' to the domain registration location, which would then pass it on to the .Mac server, where my web site is hosted.
That's exactly right. It's just not the only way to do that. Ordinary Forwarding is another way, but it differs in terms of what appears in the address bar of the browser. Either you will see web.mac.com/username/.... or, if you add "masking", you will see your personal name for all pages. The CNAME method results in a address bar that reads www.myname.com/sitename/pagename.html.
    Am I way off?
    All help gratefully received,
    Jeff

  • Active Directory Domain Name Convention

    Hi All
I'm creating a brand new domain for a new company I have just started at. We currently use Office 365 so sharepoint and Exchange are both in the cloud and our website is also outsourced.
I am now rolling out our first DC on Windows 2012 Server and I'm find conflicting reports on what naming convention I should use for AD with use with hosted exchange.
Most seem to point at using a subdomain of our main site, like corp.mydomain.com whereas I come from a background using Server 2003 where its always been mydomain.local
Can anyone advise me on this one and are there any additional thoughts around implementing with an existing Office 365 setup?

It seems that mydomain.local is recommended less often (if not discouraged) because certificates from a third-party CA will no longer accept internal domain names, like mydomain.local, in the near future.
    Some links on this subject:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/a460ee18-e674-4c14-b4e8-33afd9ddb2a0/change-local-to-com-to-resolve-ssl-certificate-mismatch?forum=exchange2010
    http://www.digicert.com/internal-names.htm
    http://exchangeserverpro.com/ssl-requirements-for-exchange-when-certificate-authorities-wont-issue-certificate/
In any case Office 365 will not interact with internal names. If you use such a name currently, you'd have to configure a UPN suffix allowing users to connect with the external name. This link might
    explain it better:
    http://www.messageops.com/documentation/office-365-documentation/active-directory-federation-services-design-planning-for-office-365
    In particular:
"It is common for organizations to use one domain name internally and a different domain name externally. A best practice was to have your internal Active Directory domain name have a .local or a .corp suffix.  With Office 365, the UPN suffix must match
your external domain name which you have registered and verified within Office 365.  In these types of situations it is necessary to add a UPN (User Principle Name) suffix to the Active Directory."
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you.
