Domain name redirect directions.

Hi all. I'd recently completed my upgrade. I want to re-direct my domain/url where it's hosted through B.C. how do I accomplish this? Is there a tutorial available? My domain name is through Godaddy. I currently have the domain hosted under a different host but plan on moving it over to B.C.

There should be a 'Going Live' link in your partner portal as well that has a full pdf download. But that part is the basics of it - assuming you are moving the email accounts for the domain as well.
Here you go, here is a link to the download:

  • My domain name redirect to mobileme homepage.

Why my domain name redirect to mobileMe homepage?

    Why?
Probably because you want that and configured your domainname accordingly.
    Here's how I did it : http://www.wyodor.net/Domain/

  • Do you need .Mac accout to set up personal domain name!?

i've just bought iLife '08 and i thought you could publish your own websites through iWeb. But so far it looks like i have to pay 60 odd quid on a .Mac account!! what a p* take!!

The "set up personal domain" is for directing a personal domain name at your .Mac account. This is of no use to you if you are hosting with a commercial service.
When you host your website on the Apple server with a .Mac account your URL is something like this....
    http://web.mac.com/YourName/YourWebsiteName/PageName.html
You can register a domain name and direct it at your .Mac account so that the URL is more like...
    http://www.yourname.com/pagename.html
When you are using a commercial hosting service you register your domain name and instruct the registration company to direct it at your servers IP address.

  • MORE THAN ONE DOMAIN NAME WITHIN MY MOBILEME ACCOUNT ?

I own more than one domain name. Can Mobileme host more than one of them and keep them separate for viewers so that somebody logging in to website 1 does not also get the files etc for website 2 ?

    mrs green wrote:

Welcome to the discussions, Mrs Green. MobileMe doesn't host domain names +per se+ — MobileMe accepts a re-direction of a domain name to its servers. MobileMe will accept only one domain name re-directed via CNAME, but can accept more re-directed domain names via "WebForwarding".
...and keep them separate for viewers so that somebody logging in to website 1 does not also get the files etc for website 2 ?

  • ISE redirect to the wrong domain name

    Hello guys,
We changed a domain name of the ISE appliance and it started giving us grief. It was configured to redirect wireless users to the web registration and authentication portal. We properly added all required A records in DNS server and looked everywhere but didn't find anything that could give any clue.
Perhaps the old FQDN get stuck somewhere in the database.
    Any idea? Please help !!!

    Case Solution:
Connecting to the Active Directory Domain
To reconnect with Active Directory domain, complete the following steps:
Step 1                                                   Choose Administration > Identity Management > External Identity Sources.
Step 2    From the External Identity Sources navigation pane on the left, click Active Directory.
Step 3    Enter the domain name in the Domain Name text box.
Step 4    Enter a friendly name in the Identity Store Name text box for your Active Directory identity source (by default, this value will be AD1).
    Step 5    Clicks Save Configuration.
Step 6    To verify if your Cisco ISE node can be connected to the Active Directory domain, click Test Connection. A dialog box appears and prompts you to enter the Active Directory username and password.
Step 7    Enter the Active Directory username and password and click OK.
A dialog box appears with the status of the test connection operation.
    Step 8    Click OK.
Step 9    Click Join to join the Cisco ISE node to the Active Directory domain.
The Join Domain dialog box appears.
Step 10    Enter your Active Directory username and password, and click OK.
Step 11    Check the Enable Password Change check box to allow the user to change their password.
Step 12    Check the Enable Machine Authentication check box to allow machine authentication.
Step 13    Check the Enable Machine Access Restrictions (MARs) check box to ensure that the machine authentication results are tied to the user authentication and authorization results. If you check this check box, you must enter the Aging Time in hours.
Step 14    Enter the Aging Time in hours if you have enabled MARs.
This value specifies the expiration time for machine authentication. If the time expires, the user authentication fails. For example, if you have enabled MARs and enter a value of 2 hours, the user authentication fails if the user tries to authenticate after 2 hours.
    Step 15    Click Save Configuration.
Step 16. Create Certificate Authentication Profile
Step 17: Import CA Certificates into ISE Certificate Trust Store
Step 18: Configure CA Certificates for Revocation Status Check
Step 19: Enable Client Certificate-Based Authentication
Please check below link for certificates configurations

  • New website domain name, how to redirect?

It appears when you rename your website pages a 301 redirect will redirect to the new pages without losing your ranking in the SERPS. However, a new website registered under a new domain name with more or less the same content creates new challenges. Is it enough to redirect the old domain name(s) to the new one using the C-Panel (and what exactly takes place when you do this?) or is there another solution? Until I find one, I am invisible to the search engines...

Joomla's default of index.php is only that way if you do not have mod rewrite enabled in the configuration meaning that you are on a windows server without access.  If so you would need to make the IIS modification which it sounds like you have not done.
    http://docs.joomla.org/Enabling_Search_Engine_Friendly_%28SEF%29_URLs
SH404SEF is only $40 and I don't care for the ".html" at the end of the file.  I would remove that from their rewriting. Just not the best practice to rewrite files that way.  Also the Google API just makes it easier to add in analytics, otherwise you have to add it into your template manually.  Or it does the sitemap which you can do for free online at places like ( http://www.xml-sitemaps.com).  Honestly if $40 is out of the budget I'd do the best you can with a free option.
I have been using a site recently with JoomSEF which is a similar paid extension.  Honestly neither is as powerful as Drupal's pathauto which is free, but that seems to be the Joomla model.

  • Re Directing several domain names to one iweb site

Hello, what needs to happen on Apples' end so I may re direct several domain names that are parked at godaddy to the 1 web site I just set up with iweb? Thanks
    GMorton

Since there are three ways to use a personal domain, you should first decide what you want displayed in the browser address bar when your site is viewed. See THIS page under +"Chapter 1: What is a personal domain? What does it do?"+.
...When you've decided what you want to appear in the browser address bar, read the rest of that page and if you still have questions, post back here.

  • Just bought some domaine names, but can't see them. they are redirected. best guess it is something embedded in firefox. i can't see anything though. help!

I bought some domain names from Godaddy. when i type the name into my firefox address line, instead of going to the parking page at godaddy, where it should go, it gets redirected to searchpagefix and there is a message on the side that says looksafe has blocked a hijacking page, etc.. i've spent hours on the phone with godaddy. they say the problem is not on their end. they see my domain name (peter-maloney.com) on their parking page. i spent hours on the phone with Norton support, my security software. They ran tests and diagnostics and found nothing. I downloaded ad-aware and ran that, nothing. I looked for looksafe to uninstall, etc. and it doesn't show up anywhere on my windows 7 machine. any suggestions? did this looksafe thing somehow get embedded in firefox? do i need to reinstall firefox? would i lose all my favorites?

Bad redirects can result from a variety of causes, including (1) system level malware, (2) system level settings changes, (3) bad Firefox add-on, (4) Firefox settings changes, (5) other (depending on the nature of the redirect).
Here's what I suggest for tracking it down:
    (1) Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
    (2) Then, in Firefox, open the '''Add-ons page''' using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    (3) Check your '''Firefox connection setting''' in the Options dialog here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network mini-tab > "Settings" button
The default of "Use system proxy settings" should piggyback on your Windows/IE "LAN" connection settings, but you also can try "No Proxy" to see whether that works better.
    (4) Search for remaining issues with the '''scanning/cleaning tools''' listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
Are you able to get rid of the unwanted redirects?

  • Changing domain name. Redirecting hits.

I have given my website to a new domain name .Now I want to redirect people who already have links to my site to be redirected to the new site. Can I do this with a single page that picks up everything that arrives at the old site, gives the punters a chance to read a line or two about the change and then calls the new home page.   Or do I have to replace all the old pages with seperate redirect pages?
I know how to do the redirect code. It's catching the hits that go to a range of different "old domain" pages that I'm interested in.
    Working with HTML/php.

Redirect Old domain to New domain (.htaccess redirect)
Create an .htaccess file in your favorite text editor with the below code, it will ensure that all your directories and pages of your old domain will get correctly redirected to your new domain.
The .htaccess file needs to be placed in the root directory of your old website (i.e the same directory where your index file is placed)
    Options +FollowSymLinks
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteRule (.*) http://www.newdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]
Please REPLACE www.newdomain.com in the above code with your actual domain name.
In addition to the redirect, you should contact every backlinking site to modify their backlink to point to your new website.
Note* This .htaccess method of redirection works ONLY on Linux servers having the Apache Mod-Rewrite moduled enabled.

  • Redirecting domain name

Sorry people, this whole stuff with domains, DNS, A-Records etc. is very cryptic...
    My Problem:
I own the domain "designformat.de". Host was the german company "1&1.de". I built the side with Muse now and published it on BC (CC-Membership). I made a redirection for the domain name to BC. It works, but the url shown is "designformat01.businesscatalyst.com. How do I change this into "designformat.de" ?
    Thanks for help!

Using a frame redirection is probably not the most effective ways to redirect your domain to Business Catalyst.  You should call up 1&1 and tell them that you want to remove your "frame redirection" and add an A record pointing to "54.246.209.120" for your "www" and naked domains.
Once you do this, login to BC and add your custom domain name under Site Settings > Site Domains > Add New Domain
When adding your domain, make sure to check "Use an external server" and if you want your custom domain to be the main domain for the site, click the "Default" checkbox too, making it the default domain/URL for your BC site.
Adding frame redirection might be easier but you'll see some hits in your SEO for sure.

  • Safari doesn't open new domain name .direct without www

When I try to open a domain like "mydomain.direct" Safari opens google search, but if I try to open "www.mydomain.direct" the website opens ok. Safari also doesn't open 3rd domains like "something.mydomain.direct" and sends me to google search.

    Hi ..
    Safari doesn't recognize:   mydomanin.direct   as a URL. That's why it's triggering a Google search.
    That's why www. works.

  • How to I get my host email at GoDaddy to work after I've changed the name servers to redirect my domain name that I purchased to my Business Catalyst Site?

I use a mac and I just recently changed my name servers with my purchased domain name at godaddy.com. As a result, I am no longer able to receive emails in my domain name's email address as I have to change some info with Adobe according to godaddy.  They have sent me an email with all the info that needs to be changed and I was wondering if someone can walk me through it. Thanks! :-)

I guess, you have resolved the issue on your end.

  • Domain name and  session

    Hi ,
We have deployed our application on tomcat server built on struts framework.
We have also set the domain name and are redirecting the domain name to Static Ip
where our application is deployed with URL Masking option enabled.
Everything is working fine in Firefox. But in IE6 and IE7 we are facing issues related to sessions.
    Example:
it works when we access directly
    http://156.78.78.89:8000/myapp/login.do?method=display
when i redirect this with a domain name(with URL masking enabled) like
         http://www.mydomain.com It does not work.
I am not able to login into application(using sessions of this) or use shopping cart(using cookies)
Cookies are getting disabled and there is no session maintainance.
Is it problem with struts config or tomcat server?
I am unable to take my application live because of this issue.
Please help me to solve. Thank you for your time and consideration

  • Domain name error

I'm trying to add a domain name to one of my Business Catalyst sites. I keep getting the same error message -- that the url I want to us is already in use. Previously, I was using the url for another Business Catalyst site. I thought I had deleted it. However, I tried to check and I can no longer access the admin site. When I sign in, I'm redirected to a godaddy.com page with the url that I'm trying to use. Frustrating. Please advise on how I can delete the old Business Catalyst site and any previous instances of the url I'm trying use. Thank you!

  • Personal Domain Names in iWeb/MobileMe?

Why is it that MobileMe will now not accept UK domain names? I have a .co.uk domain name and can no longer use it with the new MMe.
When I first started to use iWeb and .Mac I purchased a UK domain name and had it entered in the personal domain name section and .Mac accepted it with no problem at all and I had my site redirected using the CNAME option for a long time.
Now .Mac has become MobileMe, it will no longer accept UK domain names, only domains ending in .com, .net, .org etc. Due to this, I can no longer use the personal domain name option of my MMe account and I did not want to re-direct to my domain using web forwarding so have had to publish my site to a folder and ftp up to my host server space. Now I don't mind doing this, as it does not take that long and the whole site loads more quickly anyway, but I would just like to know why MMe does not now accept UK domain names now when .Mac always used to?
This is irritating because it means that I am not able to use my MMe account to the full and as I live and work in the UK it did seem more appropriate to purchase a UK domain name rather than a .com or a .net.
Perhaps Apple should look at this again, as not accepting UK domain names excludes a lot of British users!!

What the heck is wrong with some people on this site! The guy was simply asking for advice!
I got a similar snotty reply from someone in a post I made in which I was simply asking for advice from other users.
I thought this was a SUPPORT Forum? Sheesh!
Anyway, I am glad that Ethmoid posted about MobileMe and the problem with it and .co.uk domains. I was thinking of signing up to MobileMe and using iWeb for my blog and having it redirected to a .ie domain. But if this problem keeps up then it looks like I won't.
    Happy happy forum!
