Domain Netlogon Issue

We have 4 writable DCs all of which are 2008 R2.  We also have an 2008 R2 RODC which is in the DMZ (used for external LDAP authentication).  All 5 are in
the Main site in Active directory sites and services.  I realize that the RODC should be in its own "site" but that can't happen right now as it is heavily used(I inherited this configuration). We have all of the Microsoft recommended ports
open on the firewall between the DMZ and internal LAN.  <o:p></o:p>
The problem I have is when copying a file to \\domainname.local\netlogon when logged into certain DCs it will add the file to the netlogon share
of the RODC.  Obviously at this point will not replicate out to the other DCs because an RODC only pulls it's replication from a writable DC.  BUT if I browse using \\dcname\netlogon and add the file it replicates to all of the DCs just fine.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can do this on the fly...

As a temporary workaround, change share permissions on the RODC and
remove administrators.

  • Domain Controller cannot access \\domain\netlogon causing Auth issues

Hi everyone, I have been spent all day trying to figure out what is going on here, I have a Domain controller (only DC in the environment) that is acting funny
I first noticed when I was attempting to RDP into a server in my domain I was getting "access denied" (but I could log in as a local admin). So when I looked at the Domain Controller, I ran a DCDiag DNS test and got some an AUTH error, but am not
able to figure out how to fix this.
Another thing I notice is when I am signed into the domain Controller (GP2010-a), I cannot browse to
    \\contoso.com\netlogon or any similar share.
Here is the kicker, other servers on this domain, server3, server4, server5 etc... THEY CAN access
\\contoso.com\netlogon It is ONLY the Domain controller and Server2 that CANNOT access this share. The other servers also allow me to RDP into them fine, it is only 1 server that is affected by this strange behavior.
I have checked for no IP conflicts and as far as I can tell all the DNS records are correct.
Regarding the DYNAMIC ip warning, we have a reservation that assigns the IP
thanks for any input here as i'm really stuck,

  • Cross Domain Connection Issues with Test Controller

I am having trouble resolving a problem I have connecting a build agent with the test controller in a cross domain environment.  I have purged out the actual machine names, domain names, and IP addresses just in case that is a security concern.
    Situation is this:
All machines are running Visual Studio 2013
Test controller/agents are on Windows Server 2012 R2
Test controller is installed as stand-alone in order to be able to do load testing, as well as API and CodedUI.
Build definition in TFS kicks off the automation using testsettings file to point to build controller
Application under test uses resources in the ABC.XYZ domain.  Test agents need to be in ABC.XYZ in order to test application E2E.
    TFS is in Main.corp.company.com domain.
Test controller is a dual-homed box in corp.company.com and ABC.XYZ domains.  It are accessible from Main using the corp.company.com NIC.
All our dual homed boxes are set up this way.  Dual homed with Main and ABC directly is considered a security violation.
From the dual homed box, logged in with my ABC credentials, I can access TFS in Main using my Main credentials.
Manually, I can successfully kick off a test run from a command line from a VM in ABC.
Build controller and build agents are in Main.corp.company.com.
Build controller can successfully connect to build agent, and build agent successfully builds the automation.
Build agent fails to connect to build controller:
Failed to queue test run 'buildagent@MachineOne 2014-08-12 12:35:34_Any CPU_Debug': No such host is known
I can ping the build controller from the test agent, and I can successfully query port 6901:
    Querying target system called:
    testcontroller.corp.company.com
Attempting to resolve name to IP address...
    Name resolved to 10.10.10.111
TCP port 6901 (unknown service): LISTENING
Firewall is turned off on the test controller.  Even if it wasn’t, the relevant rules allowing port 6901 and File and Printer Sharing are created.
Local Security Policy | Security Options | Network access: Sharing & security model = classic
NETBIOS names of the test agents and build agent are set in the test controller’s hosts file (they were pingable without this anyway)
NETBIOS name of the test controller is set in the test agent’s hosts file (it was pingable without this anyway)
Tried both simple NETBIOS name and FSDN for test controller in testsettings file
Considering installing a build agent on the same machine as the test controller, but suspect that would just move my communication problem to build controller : build agent
Considering moving test controller to Main and making the four test agents dual-homed, but there is a concern to limit the number of dual-homed boxes, and also suspect that would again just move the communication problem.
I can use netstat to verify that the service is listening to port 6901 on both NICs:
    TCP    0.0.0.0:6901           0.0.0.0:0              LISTENING       6536
    TCP    [::]:6901              [::]:0                 LISTENING
    6536
    (PID 6536 is the QTController.exe)
However the VSTTController.log only mentions listening to the ABC NIC.  Since the connection to the ABC test agents works, that makes sense.
When I open the testsettings file on my laptop in the Main domain and examine the server name, there is a warning that the host cannot be found.  When I open it on a VM in the ABC domain I am able to manage the test controller and view all the test
agents.  However, if I try to restart the build controller I get an access denied error.  Not sure if that is related in some way.
I am using a ABC domain service account to run the test agent sevice.  There is a Main domain service account running the build.  Both service accounts are administrators on the test controller and in the TeatTestControllerAdmins and TeatTestControllerUsers
groups.  The test agent service account is also in the TeamTestAgentService group.
I tried to create a port proxy to forward requests from the Main facing NIC to the port on the ABC facing NIC:
    netsh interface portproxy add v4tov4 listenport=6901 listenaddress=10.10.10.111 connectport=6901 connectaddress=10.20.20.222
This almost worked.  I could see with netstat commands that the port was opened and a connection was established with the build agent,  however after a long wait it hit an error that it couldn’t find the ABC NIC:
A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 10.20.20.222:6901
So apparently the ABC IP is getting forwarded back to the test agent, which then of course can’t use it.
I am running out of ideas to try.  Not sure where the problem is:
    Cross-domain issue between Main.corp.company.com and corp.company.com?  Or,
Problem with the test controller not being able to listen on more than one NIC?
I know I am not the first person to try to set up something cross domain.  Most of the troubleshooting suggestions I have been able to bing have been about fixing connections between test controller and test agents, which isn’t the problem here.
Is this set up just so far from standard that VS can’t handle it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Gary

    Hi Gary,
Thank you for posting in the MSDN forum.

Just to make this issue clearly, you mean that it is not the Test Controller and Test Agent issue, am I right?
As you said that it is related to the Build controller and build Agent, am I right?
If it is related to the Build Controller and Build Agent, I suggest you post this issue to the TFS forum, there you would get dedicated support.

  • Oracle.jbo.domain.TimestampTZ  issue

    JDeveloper Version 11.1.1.5.0
I have a issue with the oracle.jbo.domain.TimestampTZ field. I have a Search screen, when I search on the oracle.jbo.domain.TimestampTZ fields select the date time for the picker, I get the following exception
JBO-26023: Custom class oracle.jbo.domain.TimestampTZ is not assignable to oracle.jbo.format.Formatter
Also, I want to know how to specify the format for oracle.jbo.domain.TimestampTZ field in the View object. Now

You could try adding one of these libraries to your project (BC4J Service Runtime, Java EE 1.5, Toplink) and then using [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B14099_19/web.1012/b15903/oracle/toplink/internal/platform/database/oracle/TIMESTAMPHelper.html]this

  • Domain Mapping Issues

    Hi, Business Catalyst community.
I re-launched my website today, with Business Catalyst only a piece of the whole site. Previously, I had simply used a Tumblr blog for the bulk of my site, with a custom domain. My DNS server pointed to Tumblr's IP address and domains.tumblr.com. Now, the landing page for my site points to SmugMug's IP address and domains.smugmug.com.
Now, here's what just won't seem to work right. The Adobe Muse/Business Catalyst part of my site is run through the subdomain "pages.slowlittlephoto.com". My DNS host records point to the Business Catalyst IP address specified under Add a Domain.  Now, since there's nothing like domains.businesscatalyst.com (as far as I can tell) to match my heretofore perfectly running system, I've configured a CNAME for the Pages subdomain that just says slowlittlephoto.com (the base domain). Throughout the day, after re-publishing my site from Muse, the Pages subdomain got confused and displayed Tumblr's Not Found pages. It came back, but then links from the SmugMug part of my site to pages.slowlittlephoto.com started redirecting to just slowlittlephoto.com and producing error messages. Is there something like domains.smugmug.com that I could use for the Business Catalyst portion of my site? Something that isn't just the Business Catalyst IP address since I don't believe repeating that would work. I have a feeling it could clear up the confusion for my DNS server. Using just the base domain name itself only seems to be causing problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly!

Hi SlowLittlePhoto. I have encountered issues with reserved sub-domains on BC in the past. I suggest you submit a support request to find out if the sub-domains you want are reserved by BC. Good luck.

  • Domain Replication Issue. Is there Any Process can be monitored in task Manager which is responsible for REPLICATION?

    Hi,
There is an issue with Secondary domain controller replication. I am interested in the "Windows Process" which is responsible for Replication.
We have a 3rd party tool in our project which generate alarm when a windows process in not running(configured).
I believe  Remote Procedure Call (RPC) is used to replicate data and is always used for intrasite replication. But How to find out which RPC is responsible? or any other windows process is responsible?
Is it possible to find out "Replication problem" by just monitoring "Responsible Windows Process" ? ( process is running or not running)

  • Master data services 2012 domain trust issues

    hi,
we have a Master Data Services 2012 installation within one domain and the users exist within another domain.  This has a selective trust both ways.
the behaviour that we are seeing in MDS 2012 when adding users to the master data services from the other domain we are getting no exact match found for the users that exists when adding users in;  these users are from the domain that MDS does not reside
in but there is a trust in place.
we have given authentication permissions to all users requiring access to the server that MDS resides on.
the question is what steps are necessary to allow MDS to operate in two domain environment.   We have other applications that function in this manner but MDS is causing issues.
    any help would be appreciated..
    thanks

I don't have the exact multi domains environment to try it on. But I tried on mutil forest domains. It seems working fine.
When add the user, the format is like [DomainName\]UserName
When add the user for another domain, the domain name is required.
There is a trust between our two domains (which works because I can log into SQL Server effortlessly with SSMS). However, when I try to add a user from the other domain, I get the error
"No exact match was found for domain\user"
It seems that MDS really doesn't like trusts.

  • Domain Replication issue

    Hi,
I am using windows server 2008 R2 as PDC and ADC. My ADC was offline for more than 7 month .Now when it come online i am facing issue wit replication...
Problem: "Trust relation between this computer and the primary domain failed"
    Event viewer log is-
It has been too long since this machine last replicated with the named source machine. The time between replications with this source has exceeded the tombstone lifetime. Replication has been stopped with this source.
The reason that replication is not allowed to continue is that the two DCs may contain lingering objects.  Objects that have been deleted and garbage collected from an Active Directory Domain Services partition but still exist in the writable
partitions of other DCs in the same domain, or read-only partitions of global catalog servers in other domains in the forest are known as "lingering objects".  If the local destination DC was allowed to replicate with the source DC, these potential
lingering object would be recreated in the local Active Directory Domain Services database.
    Time of last successful replication:
    2014-08-01 08:52:53
Invocation ID of source directory server:......................................
I have tried repadmin /remove lingering object............................. ,tried re joining the system to domain, netdome trust command etc...still issue not getting resolved.Need help on this
    Regards

It is normal that, when a DC does not replicate since a long time, it gets tombstoned.
    Please proceed as the following:
On the faulty DC, run dcpromo /forceremoval to force its demotion
Check if the faulty DC holds any FSMO roles using netdom query fsmo. In case it holds some, seize them on the other DC: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/255504?wa=wsignin1.0
Do a metadata cleanup to remove the faulty DC references: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc816907%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
Once done, use dcdiag command to make sure that your left DC is in healthy state.

  • Domain Administration issues

I am one of two Apple System Administrators for our company. We recently received a few new Macbook Pros, and upgraded them to Leopard. When setting up the macbooks, we created admin accounts, and then created individual accounts by setting up the Active Directory in Directory Utility.
The issue we are experiencing is when we are on the network at work, it recognizes our domain privileges just fine. OS X will let me install, remove programs, perform administrative tasks. However, when I/we take our macbooks home for the night and get onto our home networks, the administrator authentication does not store locally in the computer. I have to perform installation/etc. tasks by authentication with the admin username/passowrd. This isn't a problem for me personally because as I am an Administrator; however, for those who are not system admins, they do not know the system admin u/n & p/w. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Let me know if you require additional info.

  • Keyboard Layout User Account Domain Wide Issue

I have a 2008 R2 Standard as my Domain Controller and File Server, 2012 R2 Standard Remote Desktop Server and 2012 Standard Server running some applications.
All my computers log on and switch the default keyboard layout to Canadian English with the French layout.  I have tried to install US English and removed the Canadian layout, and even after removing it the Canadian Multilingual layout keeps coming
back as default.  I am lost as to the reason and do not know how to fix this.  I even opened registry and US English is the only keyboard layout listed.
    Ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
At first, I would check that registry key;HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Keyboard Layout\1
    What do you see ?
    And, if the value is ok there, you could make sure the imported keyboard is not check;
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
    IgnoreRemoteKeyboardLayout (REG_DWORD) = 1
With the above two key, the new users will always get the default layout. Just watch out as user profile already created might have the bad keyboard.
Edited; I wrote my answer first answer as if it's an issue when they logon the RDS's server, but if it's locally on their workstation, check the default layout in the first registry I give. If you see an 1109, or something like that it's more the canadian's
    keyboard code.

  • Glassfish / AppServer 9.1 PE domain creation issue

    Hi,
I'm installating glassfish appserver on a Solaris 10 box. Following the procedure, I have to run this command :
    /opt/glassfish/lib/ant/bin/ant -f setup.xml
All running correctly except the domain creation. I got the following error :
    <snip>
[exec] Failed to create database '/opt/glassfish/domains/domain1/lib/databases/ejbtimer', see the next exception for details.
[exec] CLI130 Could not create domain, domain1
    BUILD FAILED
/opt/glassfish/setup.xml:169: The following error occurred while executing this line:
    /opt/glassfish/setup.xml:551: exec returned: 1
    </snip>
I tried to install Application Server 9.1 PE on the same box and I got the same error. I tried to create the domain manually and again got the same error...
I did the same installation on a Mac OS X box and everything was OK !
Someone experienced a similar issue ? I'm trying to find someone who has the same issue, but without success. Maybe the question was already posted on this forum, but I'm not able to find it !
Thanks in advance for your help !
    Ben

    Hi there!
We had the exact same problem, and after several days of search we found that the environment variable LC_CTYPE had to be set to "C" or set to nothing at all. After setting LC_CTYPE=C (your shell syntax may vary), we could once again install Glassfish/SAS without problems.
    Hope this helps!

  • New Secondary domain communication issue

We are currently migrating our GroupWise system from GW8 on Netware to GW14 on SLES11.
The primary domain has been migrated (using Danita's guide) and I've created a new secondary domain, and Post Office and it's been mostly trouble free (see my previous thread on this forums)
I've created another secondary domain, and installed a GWIA on it. Everything appears to be working, and it routes e-mail as it should.
However, there definitely is an issue that is particularly demonstrable when creating a new user.
    Test 1:
    > Connected to PO Domain
    > Create user
    > Check user exists
    > Connect to GWIA Domain - new user does not appear.
    Test 2:
    > Connected to GWIA Domain
    > Create user
    > User appears but greyed out
    > Connect to PO domain - user present and been tested working.
So it appears that the GWIA Domain is able to communicate out, but isn't receiving comms from other Domains.
I've quadruple checked the link configuration and the GWIA domain is set to communicate by direct IP (both inbound and outbound) to the other Domains and vice versa.
I've also checked the permissions on the wpdomain.db file and they appear to be identical to those on the other domains.
At the moment I can resolve these by running a rebuild on the GWIA domain - which is obviously a bit of a 'nuclear option', and any new users created, moved, etc necessitate another rebuild.
Any ideas how to troubleshoot further, or anything obvious I've overlooked?
    Thanks in advance.

This has been a bit of epic SR with Novell, down to being in totally different time zones and having little overlapping work time, but it's fixed.
I've included all of the fault finding and fix attempts in case these help someone else.
    Fault finding:
    > While connected to the Primary domain I changed the description of a secondary domain that was having the issue.
    > Checking the logs on the secondary domain, we found the message was getting queued to /wpcsout/ads/2
    > Checking this folder I found 678 files - so definitely an issue of admin messages not being processed for some time.
    Fault Fix 1:
    On Secondary domain:
    > delete contents of wpcsout/ads/2
    > rename wpdomain.db on
    > rebuild secondary domain
As soon as I started the MTA again, a message was immediately created in the wpcsout/ads/2
In pending operations an entry was listed with a creation date of December - so we'd found our culprit.
    Fault Fix 2
    On Secondary domain:
    > Followed Novell Document ID 7013078
    To paraphrase the document -
    > Stop the MTA, rename wpcsin, wpcsout and mslocal folders
    > restart MTA
Again, file reappeared immediately in wpcsout/ads/2, and pending operation came back.
    Fault Fix 3
    On Secondary domain:
    > Stop all agents on server
    > rename domain directory
    > create new directory with same name
    > copy wpdomain.db and any .dc files from old domain folder to new.
    > copy wpgate folder from old domain folder to new
    > copy .mta files from old domain folder to new
    > restart agents
Again, file reappeared immediately in wpcsout/ads/2, and pending operation came back.
    Final Fix
    > Clear any pending operations on the secondary domain, if possible (Ours was clear since it seemed to not be processing any messages any way)
    > copy .dc files from primary domain directory in to the secondary domain directory
    > carry out renames as per doc 7013078
    > Restart secondary Domain MTA
This fixed it. I've changed the description of a secondary domain, and the change has gone through.
I have also created a user and it does now appear when connected to all the secondary domains
Quite why the .dc files gave it the kick it needed our support guy or the backline engineer who was also assisting couldn't explain, but it is apparently something that has been found to fix it.

  • Upgraded Domain, DHCP Issues

    Hey
I have recently upgraded our domain controllers to Windows Server 2012 R2, which was, seemingly, a success. Running dcdiag and forcing a replication between the two domain controllers proceeded with no errors reported, DHCP and DNS is functioning correctly
This was monitored over the weekend, and all services (AD, DHCP, DNS) and no events were recorded to point towards faults. However, this morning, the DHCP Server Role did not exist on the two domain controllers, and Active Directory had many, many issues,
    which have now been fixed
I have looked in the Microsoft-Windows-DHCP-Server-Service event logs and cannot find events that point either to the scope being removed or the role removed from the server, and the security audit log does not yield any results. In this circumstance, what
should I be looking for to find out the cause of the fault?
    -- Matt

    Hi Matt,
According to your description, do you mean that after you upgraded Domain Controllers, DHCP service was running correctly, but after a couple of days, DHCP role was removed?
Sounds like someone removed it manually to me.
Have you enabled DHCP audit logging? If you have, you can view the logs under
    %windir%\System32\Dhcp.

  • Domain configuration issue

    Hi All,
I have installed weblogic 10.3 in linux box (32 bit). i have created two domains which are listening in two different port so that if i should be able start/stop admin server, access deployed application in of one domain without affecting the other domain.
Everything works fine in IE but in case of firefox/chrome both the domain user are not able to work simultaneously i.e. if one domain user is active and other user has logged in, both will lose the session at that point of time.
Please suggest me something so this.
    thanks in advance,
    Shishir

I see a similar issue when I have two domains set up on the same host, with different ports. If I log into the WL console for one domain, and then in another window log into the other domain, and then go back to the other window, the session is lost. I think (not sure) I've seen this go away when I change the listen address for one of the admin servers to an alternative legal name (from the hosts file). Assuming that works, I don't know how you would resolve this if you didn't have that option. At that point, I would file a support case.
