Domain Password Changes - Bad User Experience

I just want to say this is ridiculous and annoying. i use my iPhone at work and every time my domain password expires and i need to change it it causes all sorts of issues with my iPhone. It asks me to update the password so i do then it asks me again and again. I sat through it all just to see how many times it would ask, 7 Times. in the past i had to wipe my mail settings (MS Exchange) and WiFi settings and renter them (or it seems enter my details 7 times).
This to me is a really bad experience. I should only need to enter these details in once, it should be smart enough to realize that i use the same domain credentials for multiple features (WiFi, proxy, mail) and update them.
Who thinks we should only need to update these details once?

I wouldn't call that ridiculous. Just good practice. I could understand needing to enter it up to 2 times, but 7 whats the go there? I say 2 because there are 2 different sections that use it. First the WiFi/Proxy, and second the Exchange server Mail Account.
so i'd be happy if it asked me one for the wifi/proxy when i tried to access it and another time for the mail when i try to access it. but when i try to access something like the app store thats when it just constantly asks me.
Can you explain why i must be prompted 7 times? whats the problem with using the same domain credentials for your mail and wifi? in most cases they will be the same.

  • How to monitor user password changes for users in a database.

    hi All,
    can someone please help me.
I need to audit the user password changes in a database. Ive check the auditing but audit " alter user " doesnt audit the changes in password and ive also checked the select * from sys.user_history$; view but didnt find anything useful. So is there a way to trace who changed the password and when ?
    Thanks for the help.

You need something along the lines of http://www.morganslibrary.org/reference/ddl_trigger.html
or you need to disallow ALTER USER to everyone and write your own PL/SQL and instrument logging the changes.

  • Bad user experience/errors with Adobe Air widget installation

    I'm having a nervous breakdown at work (it's 10pm and I'm
still in the office), an Adobe Air widget application I've built is
somehow causing the client to panic (they can't install or run the
Adobe Air installation or the widget and now they feel all their
users are having the same problem). If anyone has a minute to try
this out and let me know if the widget installs correctly of if you
have any recommendations on a better user experience I'll greatly
appreciate it. The client is receiving an error message when
installing Adobe Air (error 0 or something).
widget is on the bottom left (installs for PC and Mac). If
the widget installs without any glitches please let me know. God
    bless.
    http://stayonhermind.com

The application installed just fine for me. I'm running
Windows XP SP2 and I already have AIR 1.1 runtime installed.
I do have a few suggestions for improvement though! Just take
or leave any or all of these! :)
    In your popup you say,
"Before installing the 9IX Rules Widget verify that
you’re running the latest version of Adobe Flash."
Is this really a necessary requirement? If you are
downloading the .air I think it would not matter whether or not you
    have Flash installed.
    Then you say,
"After installing Adobe Air (link below), return to this page
and re-install the 9IX Rules Widget. Install Adobe Air Now .
Otherwise click on the button below (the widget install button)."
I understand you are trying to make this easy for people but
    to me this seems confusing.
    <GENERAL AIR COMMENT>
If someone does not have AIR runtime already installed I
thought running a .air would trigger the download and install. If
not this gets pretty complicated. How do you test if they have AIR
or not? And since most will not at this early stage how dow we
educate end-users to even know if they have it or not?
    </GENERAL AIR COMMENT>
You should digitally sign your AIR app so it does not say
Publisher: UNKNOWN with the big red "?" icon!
I would recommend against using all caps in your messages.
I would recommend choosing a better font (maybe a pixel font)
since the message text is a bit blurry.

  • User Password change fails in OWA 2013

User Password change fails in OWA with this error: Your password couldn't be changed. Make sure the old password you typed is correct and that the new password meets the minimum security requirements.
We are migrating from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.  Have mailboxes in both environments.  OWA 2007 password changes succeed (user mailbox is still in Exchange 2007).  When the user mailbox is moved to Exchange 2013, password changes fail
    with the above error.
We have the Exch 2013 servers are on Windows 2012 and we are running Exch 2013 CU3.   We have made changes to the Default Role Assignment Policy to prevent users from changing Contact information and setting user photos, etc.  We are not exactly
sure when user password changes stopped working, or even if they ever did work, although we recently installed our Prod Exch 2013 servers alongside our 2007 servers without any RBAC delegation implemented and a quick test of a user password change was successful.
I reversed all the changes to the Default Role Assignment Policy but the password change still fails.

    Hi,
Please try the following steps in your CAS server:
    1. Click Start > Run and type regedit and click OK.
    2. Navigate to the "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchange OWA" key.
    3. Set the ChangeExpiredPasswordEnabled value from 1 to 0.
    4. Close regedit and re-open it.
    5. Set the ChangeExpiredPasswordEnabled value from 0 to 1.
    6. Close regedit.
    7. After you configure this DWORD value, please reset IIS. The recommended method to reset IIS is to use IISReset /noforce from a command prompt.

  • Outlook prompting for password after password change

I have a client who has Exchange 2013 and the PCs run Windows 8.1 with Office 2013.
The users just started having the following problem. Their domain passwords are expiring and when they update them with a new one, Outlook starts prompting them for a password when they open it and periodically while Outlook is running. They keep entering
the new password and checking the box to remember it, but the password prompt keeps coming back.
I've checked and the account in Outlook does not have the box checked to always prompt for logon credentials. I did notice that the proxy authentication is set for NTLM so I changed it to Basic, restarted Outlook and there was no password prompt and the
user has not seen one since.
Any idea why having the proxy authentication set to NTLM would cause this after the domain password changed? It has been set to NTLM rather than Basic for years now. Exchange 2013 has been in use there for about 6 months and Office 2013 longer than
that. Windows 8.1 has been on the computers for 3-5 months so I don't think that's it either. I've tried with our domain account we have setup there and with a test user account by changing the password on them but with the proxy authentication set to NTLM
I haven't had the password prompt appear other than once the next time Outlook is opened after the password change, and that is to be expected.
So it's not every user account but a good number of them this is happening with.
    Jonathan

    I have an update.
There must be a GPO or setting in Outlook changing the proxy authentication to NTLM because this morning it was changed back to NTLM from Basic. They all either shut down or restarted their computers since I worked on them Friday.
One user got the password prompt one time when starting Outlook. She entered the password and that was it. But she was unable to connect to a shared calendar. She put her computer to sleep, woke it up, logged in, and then was able to connect to the shared
    calendar. I don't understand that.
Another user could not get the password prompt to go away this morning no matter how often he input his password, and he also was unable to connect to the shared calendar. So I changed the proxy authentication back to Basic again, restarted Outlook (which
is required), got no password prompt, and he was able to connect to the calendar.
I realize the calendar issue is tied to the password issue. What I don't understand is why these people are getting the password prompt ever since they changed their domain password.
I have a test account and test PC set up in a VM and it does not have any of these problems. I've changed its password 3 times but I never get a prompt when opening Outlook and it is set to NTLM.
I hope someone out there has an idea why changing their password now is causing this authentication problem in Outlook.

  • Weblogic admin user password change w/o disrupting existing users

    Hi Folks,
As a business policy we need to change the password of the admin user in weblogic after a cycle of specific period.
Please let us now how can we do that without losing the other existing users in 'my realm.'
I understand that we can use the weblogic.utils.security.AdminAcoount utility to give the new password, which will create a new DefaultAuthenticatorInit.ldift file in +<domain-home>/security+ folder (according to Doc ID 1082299.1).
The password will change but the users in 'my realm' will be lost. (there are many users and it is a production environment so recreation is out-of- question)
Is there a way we can retain the users and still proceed with the password change?
    Cheers,
    Jeegar

    Hi Jeegar,
This can be doen by followin the standard procedure by login to console and navigate to :-
DOMAIN_STRUCTURE--->Security Realm--->myrealm--->Users and Groups---->User tab click on the user weblogic
--click on the password tab and put the new password there and save (password is changed for the user here)
---Logout from the console and login to the console again using the new password
But when the server starts it do not read the password for the user directly from the realm rather it picked the same from the $DOMAIN_HOME/servers/AdminServer/security/boot.properties
Now in order to make this change available when the server starts change the values for the username and password in boot.properties and specify them in plain-text and save the same.
Now next time whenever the server will start it will pick up the new values from the boot.properties and once the same had been accepted those will be encrypted again.
You might have to make the change for the boot.properties for all the Managed Server if you have the Managed Servers in the domain which will be located at the location $DOMAIN_HOME/servers/<<Managed Server Name>>/data/nodemanager/boot.properties
You can test the steps on some lower environment first and try the same in Critical environment once the testing goes successful.

    Vijay

  • Windows 8 Problems changing an AD domain password

Hi i have a problem with Windows 8 computers changing passwords on a Domain.
I have several Windows 8 clients that when their passwords have expired they are unable to change them and i am having to reset them on a domain controller.
If users change their passwords before they expire by either using control-alt-del or clicking the notification bubble then it works fine and they can change their passwords without a problem.
We have a Domain with a mixture of 2003 and 2008 domain controllers running at 2003 domain functional level
However, if they leave it until their passwords expire and try to log in they are prompted as expected to change their passwords so they click yes and they enter the info:
    Old Password
    New Password
    Confirm New Password
They then get an error your password has expired and this error repeats in a circle until i change their passwords on a DC. This behavior also occurs if i check teh box for 'User must change their password at next log on'
This as far as i can see is affecting all Windows 8 users, all Windows 7 users are working fine and everything works as expected. From what i can make out its a problem with authentication as you are able to change t he password once the computer
has logged in using a valid password.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I am getting the same issue. If you found how to fix it can you share please?

    Hi,
I faced with problem with Oracle Messenger Console. I can not connect to
    my Portal Server (RTC Serevrice).
I have installed Oracle Messenger to my Windows Operating System
and It should communicate with My Oracle Collaboration Suite 10g Installed in Linux Os
    But I receive following Error:
Sign in failure. "Bad user name or password, Please renter your user name or password"
I should mention that I enter my user name as following format:
    <username>@<domain>
    also
I have run rtcctl getproperties command to ensure information about my domain.
Any comment and help will be appreciated in advance.

FYI: This topic is in the wrong category, should be under "Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management". See if there is a way to move it and you may get more exposure.
I re-read your question and it is unclear to me what DB platform you are attempting to run on. Is this Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle. Also, please specify the version.
    If Oracle:
-Are you able to TNSPING your Oracle XE instance?
-If you can TNSPING it, try connecting from the command prompt via SQLPLUS:
    sqlplus admprm$pm/password@XE
Also worth noting, P6r8 admin functions have been moved out of the desktop client and into the Web so you will be limited in what you can demo without installing the web component.

  • Automatically change AD User's password hourly

    Hi
I was wonder if there was a script or some kind of way which could reset a specific user's password every hour and save the password to a .txt file or maybe to a SQL table? I found one program however it emails the password rather than saving it to a file
(and isn't free). I am using the NPS RADIUS server role and would like guests to have temporary access without having to create and delete an account every time (or have a static password allowing them to rejoin the network if they return).
    Thanks :)
    [Using Windows Server 2008 R2]

    Hello,
I just have an idea about this.
Save all the passwords you want in a text file and give full control access to your own user and remove the rest of the ACL entries except Domain Admins.
Create a Powershell script to reset user password. This Powershell script reads the new passwords from the text file and will delete the newly assigned password from the text file. In that case your text file will be fresh with unused passwords.
Run the Powershell script as schedule task on hourly basis with your own user.
To understand how to reset password using Powershell check:

  • How to change SSO user's password: Get LDAP URL

    Hi,
I would like to add a 'change user SSO password' form to my BC4J application. The form's submit button fires an action that calls a PL/SQL package. This package receives 7 parameters, and uses de dbms_ldap package to change the user's password.
    Parameters:
    - LDAP Host
    - LDAP Port
    - User DN
    - SSO Username
    - Old Password
    - New Password
    - Retyped New Password (for confirmation)
I'm trying with a DataForwardAction event whose purpose is to get the user's account information and the LDAP location, but I can't get the LDAP Location (ClassCastException) and the SSOUsername (NullPointerException).

// the main menu "Tools/Override Methods...".
    }Thanks in advance.

    Hi again,
First of all, thanks for your reply.
Yes, I know I can use JNDI instead of a call to a PL/SQL package (I visited this link: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=592611&start=0 that explains how to do it), but in both cases I have the same problem: I don't know if it's possible to get the LDAP's environment specifications (PROVIDER_URL, SECURITY_PROTOCOL) dynamically.
Our production environment's LDAP is not the same as our development environment's LDAP. This is why I want to get this information dynamically.
I think that this information is stored in the jazn.xml file: Is there any way to get this information?
    Thanks a lot.

My AppStore id is my apple id n password which is good when purchasing. But when I am updating from update option it ask for a password. The user id I see there is not mine, it's different. How do I change that to my apple Id? Please help me resolve  this issue. I have tried resetting it but nothing... Either I'm doing something wrong or....

I believe the issue is with the Apple ID that was used to purchase the App. If you download an App that was purchased under a different Appple ID then all updates will also be linked to the original purchaser's Apple ID. Your Apple ID is the the same ID as your iTunes, iCloud, etc. Some folks use different ID for the different Apple sites. No need for that One ID for all Apple Sites, and if someone else buys an App using their ID and they(you) download that App onto your device and that App requires an update it will ask for the purchasers Apple ID. This happens a lot when folks sell their iPad or give it to someone else and leave some purchased(free) Apps on the iOS device. You cannot change the original ID the App was purchased under. A suggestion would be if someone else has an App that you like but do not want to pay for use their ID or in the future have them gift the App to you.

I have tried to change my User id which is an email address I no longer want to use. Now I am constantly getting requests from icloud and Apple ID for my password and cant get into my icloud account.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
