Domain Setup Issue

I went through the steps to configure iWeb to use my own domain (from godady) it has been almost 3 days and I am still seeing the GoDaddy park site...
Do I need to do something other than input my domain name (url) into the .mac setup and then update the cname at godaddy dns list?
I think I should be seeing my "published" (to .mac and/or iDisk) website by now....
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

At godaddy go to your domain. If you're in the right area you should see a row of options, one of which is "forward".
Click on it and type or paste the .mac address in there.
Such as "http://web.mac.com/chuckusher/Site/Home_page.html". Your address being what you would put in of course.
Make sure it's enabled and within a couple of hours it should work.
I'm no expert at this, but the cname thing has to do with how the address in displayed when the site is accessed.
I don't believe you have told the domain name what access as to yet.
If you have further problems it's been my experience that godaddy has good phone support.
good luck

  • Setup issue in oracle projects - classifications link(standard link) is missing in oracle projects page

    Hi Team,
I have a setup  issue in oracle projects
I am unable to find the classifications link in oracle projects page.
Navigation : Go to any projects responsibility-->search for the projects-->click on project -->click on setup Tab : At the bottom of the page, we can see some standard links along with UDA's.
Here one standard link Classifications is missing.
Can anybody guide me what setup we need to do get the link.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
The classifications link is not appearing in your Project's Setup page because, Classifications must have been unchecked in the Project template from which your project has been created. You can find the Project template information by clicking on the Additional Information link in the same Project -setup page. Once you check the classification flag in the concerned Project Template, all future Project creations made out of this template would have the link enabled.
But for the current project, classification link cannot be enabled.
    Rgds,
    Shan

  • Odd speed dial setup issue

I am getting an odd speed dial setup issue.  Here are the steps:
    1. Open speed dial setup screen
    2. Tap an open slot
    3. Search for a contact using the keyboard
    4. Click on the contact to select it
If I do it that way, I am taken back to the speed dial setup screen, but the contact is NOT added to the slot.
On the other hand, if in step #3, I just scroll down the list of contacts and select a contact, it works just fine.  Seems to be an issue with the search function.  Anyone else have this problem?
    Android v2.2
    System Version.2.3.15.MB810.Verizon.en.US

The steps that you are taking correct for setting up the speed dial. I have provided a link for additional information.

As far as the flashing question mark and globe icons are concerned, your computer had lost track of its startup volume and was searching through the possibilities. The globe icon indicates that it is looking for a network to start from and the question mark indicates that it is looking for an OS X volume. To fix this, if you haven't already, go to System Preferences > Startup Disk and reselect your internal HD as the startup volume.
From what you have described, this issue does seem to have corrected itself, and the faster start up is what one would normally expect. I think that you have absolutely no reason to reinstall your system.

  • AWE Transaction Configuration Event Notification Setup issue

AWE Transaction Configuration > Event > Notification Setup issue
On Final Denial Event has Notifications Option set to "Requester" "Both".
The Email URL is redirecting to the correct Approval Component mentioned under Approval Component in On Final Denial Event
But the Worklist URL is redirecting to another Component unlike the email URL, it is sending to a different component.
Why the same notifications via the same Event (On Final Denial) have two different URL's??

    Hi,
The worklist/notification component is defined on several places, where the "lowest" definition applies for the action being triggered.
1 AWE Transaction Configuration> Transaction Registry > Default Approval Component
2 AWE Transaction Configuration > Event
3 AWE Transaction Configuration > Event > Notification > Template Detail tab
Be aware that the Notification section in the Transaction Configuration shows 1 row in the grid, where more than 1 row can be defined. Click on the View all to expand the grid and see all notification defined for this event.
See if above configurations differ in menu, component, page ...

  • ICloud OS X email setup issue

Hi need some help with an iCloud email setup issue that doesn’t seem to have been covered by other posts or the Apple help factsheets.
Used my old mac.com Apple ID to set up an iCloud account which now shows as having my iMac as a linked device. To use iCloud Mail was prompted to create a new email address which I could do by turning on Mail in iCloud settings.
I signed into iCloud via my iMac and having deselected default options to use iCloud for Contacts etc arrived at the account page which has the various options on the RHS and my mac.com ID info on the left.
Ticked the Mail option on the RHS was asked to “choose an iCloud email address” underneath the box where you enter the chosen email address was a note saying “you cannot change your email address after creating it”. When I tried to  set up the new iCloud email address got a prompt saying “you cannot change your email address after creating it”.
    Help!

You need to know Comcast's settings for incoming and outgoing server when setting up your OSX Mail app. The info should be somewhere on Comcast's help web page.

Scratch the post above - the musics that plays in the playlist also plays in the library and that is because i forgot that i imported from the cd yesterday. Basically, I see the rest of my music, but it doesnt' play and tells me it can't locate the file though the location in 'perferences' points to the correct location. Getting iTunes to play after a new computer or rebuild is a headache.

  • Skip Domain Setup?

    Hi folks,
I have 2012r2 essentials which will be replacing an XP machine that is used as a file server for a client.
Everytime I start the server up - it wants to setup a domain and all that jazz - can I just skip that and use it as a stand-alone file server w/o a domain setup?
I ask this because we'll get them on a domain in the future, right now we just want to replace their 'file server' before it dies.

Nope... it is, and must be a DC.  If you have 15 or fewer users in the LAN, may I suggest Server Foundation.
However, Domains and Essentials were invented for a reason as I am sure you know.  With all the advantages and PC backup as a bonus, why not just do it.?

  • New, Single Server - DNS, Web, Wiki, Mail Setup Issues

I'm having some issues properly setting up 10.7.3 to host internal DNS and external Web, Wiki and Mail.  I'm having issues with the web and wiki hosting.  Since those are the most important right now, I haven't really had a chance to fully test the other features.  I was able to do some testing of the mail and iCal but it was limited.
Long read below but I thought the specifics would be helpful...
    My goals and configuration are:
    ***GOALS***
    Primary:
    1) Host a public website: example.org and www.example.org
    2) Host a public wiki: main.example.org and www.main.example.org
    3) Host a public mail server: [email protected]
    4) Host a public, group calendar
4a) Read only to majority - Read/Write to a group
    5) Host a global address book for authenticated users
    Secondary:
    6) Allow anonymous public access to a file share (read only)
    7) Allow authenticated access to the same file share (read/write)
    8) Do as much of this via GUIs as possible.
    ***SETUP AND CONFIGURATION***
    Physical:
    1) Business class Internet (no blocked ports)
    2) A single, public and static IP address
    3) Domain name and public DNS via GoDaddy
    4) Wildcard Cert: *.example.org from GoDaddy
    5) Late 2011 (bought in Jan 2012) MacMini Lion Server (the $1,000 one).
5a) Upgraded the RAM to 16GB (need for VMware Windows clients)
5b) Added two USB to Ethernet adapters.
    6) Using a new model AirPort Extreme Base Station (bought w/ the MM) as the main router.
    Initial Configuration:
    7) Setup a Mac Address reservation for the main and two USB Ethernet ports along with the wireless too.
    7a) Main port = 10.0.1.5 / Others are .6, .7 and .10
    8) During the setup, I chose the Host on the Internet (third) option and named my server: main.example.org
    9) After the setup completed, I upgraded the OS & Admin Tool to 10.7.3 from a clean install (on #5 now)
    DNS Config
    10) I used the admin tool to open DNS and change:
    11) "Primary Zone Name" from main.example.org to example.org.
    12) In the "Nameservers:" block, I changed the zone name there but left the nameserver name alone (zone: example.org /// Nameserver Hostname: main.example.org).
    13) The Machine Name and Reverse Zone was left alone.  RZ resolves to main.example.org.  sudo changeip -checkhostname is good.  dig on the example.org and main.example.org are good to go (NOERROR).
    OD Config
    14) From the server app, I clicked Manage/Network Accounts and setup the OD - No issues.
    SSL
    15) From the server app, I created self signed cert, generated a CSR, got a public Cert, then replaced the self-signed with the public one - No issues.
    16) Changed any service using the self-signed cert to the public one - No issues.
    17) Changed the cert in the OD to the public cert from server admin - No issues.
In order: File Sharing, Mail, AB, iCal, Web, Wiki, Profile Manager, Network Groups, Network Users
    18) File Sharing was setup using the server app
    19) Setup mail using the server app to start it and the server admin app to configure it - No issues there (I think...)
    20) AB - Flipped the switch to on
    21) iCal - Flipped the switch to on - I setup the e-mail address to use after I added the network accounts.
    22) Web - Flipped the switch to on - Default site worked (main.example.org)
    23) Wiki - Flipped the switch to on - Default wiki worked. (main.example.org)
    24) PM - Checked the sign config profiles and enabled the device mgt.  I then flipped the switch to on - Default settings and pages worked.
    ***MY PROBLEMS***
    Website:
Adding a website for example.org gave me the red dot in the server app.  To fix that, I added a Machine Name record to my primary zone (PZ = example.org Machine Name = example.org).  I first tried using the same 10.0.1.5 IP as the main.example.org and left the reverse mapping alone (still resolved to the NS of main.example.org).
That gave me the green light in the server app when trying to add the website again.  From there, I changed the "Store Site Files In" to the location of my website files (and confirmed "Everyone" has Read Access in the folder's security settings).  I left the other info alone (all defaults accepted) and clicked done.
Access to the website works on the server but external access doesn't (Network Error/timed out tcp_error).  Checked the AirPort settings using the AirPort utility (version 5.5.3) and the Port Mapping (under the "Advanced" icon) show serveral services all pointing to 10.0.1.5.  Thinking it could be DNS I tried main.example.org externally and it failed the same way.
I ran the changeip command (good to go) and dig on example.org and main.example.org and they both resolved to 10.0.1.5 correctly.
I removed the example.org Machine Record from the zone and it now looks like:
    PZ=example.org / ZONE=example.org / NS=main.example.org
    Machine Record=main.example.org / IP=10.0.1.5
    RM=10.0.1.5 / Resolves=main.example.org
    PLEASE HELP!

The amount of users (if relevant):
    On site - 1 (Me)
Off site - 16 (Windows clients - some have iOS devices too)

  • Shared Review comment server setup issues

I've been having some issues setting up a comment server/repository for Shared Reviews in Acrobat 8 (for our all-Mac network). I've done extensive research on how to set up a Network Folder and a WebDAV folder (since those are the only two supported methods in Acrobat 8).
    - For the Network Folder setup, I created a folder on one of the machines on our network and shared it using SMB. When specifying that location (using smb://IPAddress/Folder/), Acrobat either 1) brings up a login screen, into which I enter the proper credentials, and after pressing OK, it says the connection could not be made, or 2) it verifies the shared folder location, but when I make comments and then choose Publish Comments, a red box appears saying something to the effect of "cannot access IPAddress, will keep trying."
    - I also tried using WebDAV. Solutions I found online mostly consisted of using the Terminal to access system files and entering numerous lines of code. I pretty much had to learn about WebDAV from scratch today in order to get the Shared Reviews process set up, but I feel like there is something I'm missing regording its implementation.
I suppose this post can be boiled down to three questions:
    1) What is the best way to set up a Shared Review system, and how can it be done in the simplest manner possible?
    2) What am I missing from my knowledge of Network Folders and WebDAV folders in this regard?
    3) Would functionality be benefited by simply upgrading to Acrobat X?
Thank you all in advance for your responses and help. If there is any more information required in order to provide a solution, please let me know.

  • Auditing file server setup issues - nfs permissions

I have half-dozen Solaris 10 workstations requiring Solaris Auditing enabled and audit files saved. I used a spare Solaris 10 system with 2-72GB disks and formatted 2nd disk for entired 72GB. I shared out the 72GB partition on this system and modified /etc/security/audit_control on a test Solaris 10 W/S to use the shared-out partition on Audit file server as primary audit directory. Following directions in Solaris 10 Admin Gde I chmod -R 750 the mount pt using the 72GB partition before sharing out the partition. However, all client W/S's that I enable Auditing would not use the 72GB partition on file server until I went back and chmod 777 the partition and rebooting file server. Also, on any client that I have enabled Auditng to use nfs-mounted 72GB partion on file server I cannot as a non-root user issue a "df -k" command without getting error:
df: cannot statvfs /var/audit/fmaud.1/files: Permission denied
Is this normal or did I miss a chmod step or two in setting up Audit clients and/or Audit file server?

  • Directory Server setup issues.

I recently installed the new OS X Server on my new iMac. I have two iPhones, two iPod touches, the iMac and an Air that I want to serve. I registered macserved.com and have a static IP. As far as I can tell, the domain and DNS is set up correctly (to serve internal DNS). I had a wordpress blog running for a while and can access it both internally and externally. MySQL was a pain in the butt to configure, but I figured it out. When I started the config for Profile and OD however, I get this error:
An error occurred while configuring iMac as a directory server. Please check your network configuration and try again.
So I first checked my hostname:
    Primary address     = 192.168.0.6
    Current HostName    = macserved.com
    DNS HostName        = macserved.com
The names match. There is nothing to change.
    dirserv:success = "success"

I'm not certain it is a DNS issue, but I'm fairly new to DNS setup so I cannot rule it out.
Where should I start looking? What should I be looking for in the logs? I'm cool with scraping everything and starting over as well. Right now I have zero invested in it (no files that need saved, etc) but I would PREFER not to reformat/reinstall OS X though.

I figured it out! My certificates were hosed. I rm -rf the Authority in Library/ and recreated the certs after DNS was setup properly. Works great now aside from a few other website issues, but that is another thread :-)

  • DNS, Certificates, and Active Directory - School Setup Issues

Our school has been piloting a small iPad depolyment.  I have been struggling with getting Profile Manager to work correctly since August of last year. Here's the setup:
    1. Active Directory DNS/DHCP server (set as "school.local"--yes, I know .local is bad form, but it was set before I got here). I have changed the "Digest" to "Basic" setting
    2. Mac Mini server that has its own external IP and hostname ("mac.school.org") and is also bound to the AD server for user authentication for services (Profile Manager, WebDAV, wiki, etc.). I have a self-signed SSL certificate installed under the name "mac.school.org"
    3. About 90 iPads, and a handfull of Mac desktops
In a perfect world, users would be able to login (with their AD credentials) to the Profile Manager self-service portal using the external hostname of the mac server ("mac.school.org/mydevices"), install the Trust Profile, and enroll the device (iPad, Mac, etc).
However, this is not the case.  The setup seems to work for awhile; quite perfectly in fact. But then for reasons unknown to me, everything just "breaks" and Profile Manager ceases to work like it should. Here are some of issues I am seeing:
a.) DNS service on the Mac server turns itself ON randomly.  DNS should NOT be running this server, correct? All DNS lookups internally are done by the AD server. I've used changeip and everything matches (both say "mac.school.org")
b.) Whenever we use VPN, and at other seemingly random times, the server's hostname changes from "mac.school.org" to "mac.school.local" I would make the server external only, but it needs to have an internal IP to talk to the AD server.
c.) AD binding breaks randomly and I have to rebind the server to AD
d.) When enrolling devices, Profile Manager starts rejecting certificates (not a trusted source, etc.) and I have to destroy OD and PM and start all over again.
I know this is a lot and I'm not necessarily expecting anyone to answer all of these questions. I guess I'm wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction? I've looked for help with these issues all over the place, but none of the environments I read about are quite like the one I'm in.

Yes, I am not giving the real domain name here.
No prob. just checking, sometimes people have weird domain names never know if they are real or they expect them to be real or they put domain names owned by someone else on their internal network eek.
Not really needed to use mac.school.org internally, that is in local LAN. The thing to understand about DNS is the scope for which a DNS zone is relevant WRT a client machine — inside LAN or on Internet, and which DNS server is authoritative for a domain. Authoritative in the sense of 'the final word'.
Go to Network Utility on your mac, type in your real domain name (whatever you are changing to school.org to hide it) what comes back. On my server I see the below (I have replaced my real, Internet legal domain, to 'example.com')
In my setup I have, on the LAN, setup the Mac server to be authoritative for domain 'example.com'. On the Internet however it is another external DNS server.
So you have set DNS forwarders on the Mac machine?
I really don't believe that the machine's hostname is changing, it is statically configured. What I believe is happening is that DNS name resolution is telling you different things at different times because you are using different DNS servers.
On mac machine terminal type $less /etc/resolv.conf and copy paste what it says. In server app Services | DNS right side does it say you have forwarders?
Still it is not good to have two DNS domains in your internal LAN, there is no need to have school.org on the mac DNS unless it is going to be fully setup to be authoritative in the internal LAN for the domain school.org. You can have school.org on the Internet (Internet scope of users point 1) and school.local on internal machine (LAN scope of users).
    Lookup has started…
    Trying "example.com"

We are working on a SOA , BAM , BPM Cluster setup on OEL VMs
    With Admin server running on Host1 and Soa_server1, BAM_server1 , Host2 - Soa_server2 , Bam_server2.
We were successfully able to setup clustering for Soa without using the webTier utilities in our environment, Just by adding entries in the /etc/hosts file.
Followed the document - except for web tier setup
    http://www.namredlek.nl/orasoa/InstallSOASuite11gOnCluster_v1.pdf
    1)     Installed Weblogic 11g.
    2)     Soa 11g.

    4) Configured Node manager
    5) Soa Clustering completed successfully.
    6) Domain up and running with SOA_Cluster up and running.
    7)     Extended the domain with BAM
The issue revolves when we are doing teh Migration configurations from the console for BAM and we restart BAM server we get an error -

This error occurs due to a failure in adding the virtual IP of BAM server to the network interface you have specified in nodemanager.properties.
You need to check whether you have specified the correct interface and subnet mask in node manager.properties as below :
The fourth step is to edit the Node Manager's properties file. This file is called nodemanager.properties
and is located in the ORACLE_BASE/product/osbmw/wlserver_10.3/common/nodemanager directory.
For server migration to work properly, you need to add the properties listed below:
    Interface=eth0
    NetMask=255.255.255.0
    UseMACBroadcast=true
    · Interface
This property specifies the interface name for the floating IP (for example, eth0).
    · NetMask
This property specifies the net mask for the interface for the floating IP. The net mask should the
same as the net mask on the interface; 255.255.255.0 is used as an example in this document.
    · UseMACBroadcast
This property specifies whether or not to use a node's MAC address when sending ARP packets,
that is, whether or not to use the -b flag in the arping command.

  • Windows 2008 R2 NFS setup issues...

Windows 2008 Enterprise R2 fully updated and is a new install.
I can only install NFS client not NFS server (only from CLI using Ocsetup, from Server Manager / Roles NFS does not install at all).

... anyone had the same experience... really need NFS server installed to use User Name Mapping service!
    Thanks.

    Hi Lex,
I will try to follow your setup steps and see if I can hit the same issue. Here is what I am going to try
    1) New Install of Windows 2008 Enterprise Edition R2
    2) Turn on automatic updating and install all updates
    3) Install AD Services and promote server to DC (new domain in new forest, functional level Windows 2003)
    4) Do you have DNS or any other selection besides this ?
    After this I will run
    Ocsetup
    ServicesForNFS-ServerAndClient;ServerForNFS-Infrastructure;NFS-Administration;ClientForNFS-Infrastructure
I see that you mentioned "really need NFS server installed to use User Name Mapping service!" Are you planning to run User Name Mapping Service on this machine ? User
name mapping service is no longer shipped from Windows 2008 Server onwards.
    Thanks,
    Frank
