Domain Users access to Remote Desktop Apps fails

Can somebody bring a light to this issue?
Our domain users are getting NO apps from the collection, when  they should get at least the Full MS Office 2013 Pro apps suite that was published to the collection without any user restrictions...
Are they supposed to be member of the RDP Group or what else we missed during the settings?
Also, when trying to access from IE using the link https:// [FQDN] /rdweb/feed/webfeed.aspx (FQDN omitted for security reasons) they get a prompt to download the file "WebFeedlogin.aspx" as son as they successfully authenticate with their
credentials...
FYI: All users member of Domain Admin group are working just fine...
Thank you in advance for your time and effort to solve this! ;)

Hi Marcio,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
After going through your comment, I would say that to access RemoteApp by user they must be member of Remote Desktop User local group also. Apart you can go through below article for configuration related setting.
- Introducing RemoteApp User Assignment
- Step by Step Windows 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Services – Part 4
Hope it helps!
Thanks.

  • Remote Desktop Apps via Andriod Remote Resource

    Hi,
My remote desktop was working fine along with the Android app that connection to remote resources. The servers certificate was not renewed in time, so I went through getting all that replaced. I got that working in the IIS, exported the certificate from
IIS and imported it back into the remote desktops settings under the 4 titles : RD Connection Broker - enable single sign on, rd connection broker - publishing, rd web access, rd gateway. They are all trusted and ok.
So when I use the webpage to access the remote desktop apps with a PC it all works fine. no issues with certificates it just works. However when I come to use the remote resources in the android app, the apps appear, when you click on them it runs through
a connection splash screen then just disappears. No error, nothing. It says connection rdp, negotiating connection, connecting rdp then just disappears.
I have tried clearing the data and cache to remote desktop app, made no difference.
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks
    MyPchealth

    Hi,
Please check whether you have successful login connection to remote resource?
In addition please provide the log for further research.
Login in the APP, then go to settings, under 'support' there is an option ‘Send log via email’ and then it will reach to the email inbox which is provided.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Setting up Remote Desktop Apps for access from a Mac with 2FA

    Hi
Setting up Remote Desktop Apps for access from a Mac with 2FA.
I have a server 2012 remote access gateway, with remote apps published(which uses single signon), behind a 2FA connection (web based) and want to know if its possible to allow macs to connect to the remote Apps behind it. i cannot permanently remove any
of the above setup as it is a requirement.
When i connect from a mac i can login to both the 2FA and remote access web pages and see all the apps but when i click on any app it downloads it to the mac and when i try to run it using Remote Desktop App for MAC i get an error :
"httpendpointexception: 4, The non-proxy http connection failed to connect with the message: 500 internal Server Error."
I have tried with 2fa turned off for testing and get the same result.Does it support 2012 TSGW server? does it support Remote desktop apps? as i cant find a definitive answer on either.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
From Error description it seems to be a communication issue between your Mac and your RD gateway server. If you connect from extranet, you may need Remote Desktop Gateway or a VPN/Direct Access connection to your intranet, or forward port 3389 on your router.
500 Internal Server Error seems to be a HTTP related error.
The HTTP status code in IIS 7.0, IIS 7.5, and IIS 8.0
Also, please double check the settings if you have a RD gateway implemented in you intranet.
    http://redmondmag.com/articles/2013/12/24/rd-gateway-in-windows-server.aspx
In Windows Server 2012 R2 RD Gateway pluggable authentication is also introduced. This allows custom authentication routines to be used with RD Gateway. For example building a two-factor solution on top of RD Gateway is now possible which allows doing token-authentication
to the RD Gateway which works seamlessly with RD Web Access or RDP file launching.
Please check below article for more information.
Windows Server 2012 R2 is coming what does this add to RDS – VDI
In addition, please provide the log file from the client for further research.

    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • IOS Remote Desktop App resolves hostname but throws Host is not reachable error.

    Hello,
I am trying to use the Remote Desktop app on my iPad running iOS 7.0.2 to connect to a server through our Juniper VPN. When I type the hostname or IP address I get an error that say "Host is not reachable". If I connect through my Mac I have no

    Hi,
According to the log, your iPad tried to connect the remote server with IP address 10.100.01.01/32. Please check if it is the correct IP address of the server.
Also, please make sure that your iPad can connect to your VPN network successfully and get a valid IP address so that it can remote your internal server.
    Thanks.

  • User profile vs Remote Desktop Services Profile

On a Windows 2008 R2 Domain Controller, if you open properties of an user account, you'd see
a Profile Tab as well as Remote Desktop Services Profile Tab.
I found this very confusing, can any one tell be the key difference between those 2?
If I don't specify Remote Desktop Services Profile path, when I logon to Remote Desktop Server, it seems take user's
    romaing profile.
    Anyway, please advice.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
The profile tab of the user properties window allows you to configure user profile, logon scripts and home folder details for the user object. It is very useful when you have to allow your user access the same environment and data irrespective of the machine
    he logs in from.
Active Directory User properties – Profile tab
    Remote Desktop Services User Properties
You can specify a Remote Desktop Services-specific profile path and home folder for a user connecting to an RD Session Host server. This profile and home folder will only be used for Remote Desktop Services sessions. You should assign a separate profile for
Remote Desktop Services sessions because many of the common options that are stored in profiles, such as screen savers and animated menu affects, are not desirable when using Remote Desktop Services.

  • Microsoft Remote Desktop app ios7 to Windows 8.1 Pro

For anyone using an iPad to remote desktop to your Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit computer, I recently posted the following distress call in the Microsoft Community Windows - Windows 8.1 - Other Windows apps by Microsoft - Other.
A Microsoft Support Engineer there suggested I post it here instead. The 1st part is the distress part, the 2nd part is how I finally solved it and then a different problem started ...
    Part 1
Help, I'm going crazy trying to get this Microsoft Remote Desktop app on ios7 to connect to my computer running Windows 8.1.
I've added my computer name, user name and password, but even though it starts to connect it never does and gives me an error message saying:
    Timeout while resolving hostname
I've set up my computer to allow remote connections and allow connections only from computers running blah, blah, blah.
    What am I doing wrong?
In the past I was able to use logmein free without any problems until they stopped the free version. I can also get through using Team Viewer, so why won't the RD Client app work?
    Part 2
Doesn't matter now as I ended up working out that it didn't work with my computer name. What I had to do is go to cmd and type ipconfig to find
the right ip address and insert it where it asked for computer name and it worked! Of course, then it kept disconnecting, so I've totally abandoned it and will use Team Viewer instead (until I'm willing to try again).
So that's where I'm up to.
I didn't find anything useful in this TechNet article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn473013.aspx
So any suggestions on how to make Microsoft's RD Client app on ios work without disconnecting all the time?

    Hi,
For this issue,as Milos said, using the host name requires your network to resolve the host name properly through DNS.
So this issue is related to DNS.In many home network configurations only the IP address will work properly.
Regarding DNS,I suggest you check the configuration on the ipad.
Regarding how to add host name to IOS,I suggest you contact apple support for help.

  • Web Access for Remote Desktop on Windows Server 2012

    Hello,
i've a Windows Server 2012 without a domain. So i installed the remote desktop session host, the remote desktop license server and the remote desktop gateway as a server role only. All is working fine. Without a domain, no management tools for remote
desktop are available. So i configure the remote desktop via the registry. I define (via registry) some remoteapps, too. All values are copied from a running Windows Server 2008 R2. So the remoteapps are runing.
Now i want to use the new Microsoft Remote Desktop client for Android. To use a remoteapp i must define a remote resource. To define a remote resource i need a url to the web access for remote desktop. So i installed the web access. But if i login to the
web access, i don't see any remoteapp. What's wrong? I've set the ShowInTSWA to 1. What must i do to access an existing remoteapp via web access?
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
Server 2012 RD Web Access is designed to retrieve published RemoteApps and Desktops from a Server 2012 RD Connection Broker and/or a Server 2008 R2 RD Session Host server.  From your description it doesn't appear that you are using either of the above.
I know it is a more complicated set up, but you should consider having a domain, creating a RDS deployment, etc., so that you can use the full featureset as it was intended.  You can do it all on a single server if needed.  For Server 2012
there is a hotfix that needs to be applied to permit RD Connection Broker to work on the same server instance as active directory.

  • HT2476 does mountain lion have remote desktop app?

Hi does anybody know if Mountain Lion has remote desktop app included. if not how do you get it ?

Hmmmmm... OK y'all have got me thinking.
I normally run disk check and repair, this time it found a number of files and links related to printers and image devices, stuff that isn't likely part of the issue.  There were three links, however, related to core graphics.  the permissionss were  rwxr-xr-x when they should be rwxrwxrwx.  I don't think those are involved, but alas they are fixed.
It seems like much of my issues seems to revolve around the mounting/access of resources outside my laptop, be it icloud, nfs server, samba server, etc. RIght at this moment, Finder is hung hard.  I tried to force restart it, and in the Force quit menu I now see two Finders.  One will kill and restart immediately, one does nothing.   And I can't open a finder window period.
In fact, just before writing this, I was attempting to edit a text document in StarOffice, and StarOffice went to lunch trying to access my samba share.  Now before y'all go nuts about any samba server side issues, let me say that while my MBP is having issues accessing my samba shares, none of my other computing devices are.  W7 laptop pulls up samba file system as fast as if not faster than it's own local file systems.  My other MBP (older core2 duo, but still on mountain lion) does not seem to have any issues.  I don't believe it a server side issue.
So I asked myself, what's different on my 2.66 gb i7 MBP??  It just occurred to me that I have one piece of software that's pretty deeply rooted in file system management....   Tuxera NFS.   I see that it has not been updated since updating to Mountain Lion, so I am going to check that out, and will post results.

  • Password expires when using the Remote Desktop App in Android

When the password expires, users using the Microsoft Remote Desktop App in Android cannot logon to the system.
Is there a way for them to be notified of the password expiry and having a chance to change the password?
    Cheers.

    Hi Andrew,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
You can set the GPO policy, “Interactive Logon: Prompt user to change password before expiration” under
Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Local Policies\Security Options which will let the user prompts to change their password before specific limit.

  • Can we implement site catalyst for Remote desktop app like MS dynamics NAV?

Can we implement site catalyst for Remote desktop app like MS dynamics NAV?
    please throw some insight

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Does this happens for this particular application?
For a test you can publish Notepad\WordPad as RemoteApp and check whether facing same issue. Please check the result and let us know. If it’s working normally then might seems there is some configuration issue with MS Dynamics App.
Does this happens for all user or specific users?
Which version of RDP Client you are using for client system?
Try to install RDP 8.1 for better feature.

  • Miracle : remote desktop app that actually works perfectly

New guy here...not new to Android, but very new to the TT (aren't we all, I guess). Loving it...this is the computer I've waited 35 years for. Thanks, Toshiba! As many of us know, one of the big problems w Android is the highly variable...and frequently low...quality of apps (even paid apps). I tend to buy a lot of apps just looking for one which will really get the job done. And frequently come away feeling suckered yet again. So when I went looking for a remote desktop app to run my MacBook from inside my TT (for intensive tasks like REAL spreadsheets) I was prepared for the worst (full-featured remote desktop is a pretty sophisticated task) but, surprisingly, nailed it on the first try. I don't usually plug products, but in case your needs are like mine, here goes: Splashtop Remote Desktop HD. Awesome. Stable. Fast. Ten bucks. If I recall correctly there are versions for both Mac and Win desktops. On my home wireless network there is zero perceptible lag. It claims to work over the intertubes, too, but I haven't tried that yet, and I'm prepared to learn that there the lag might be annoying. The ability to bring up your desktop on your TT, run any program there or fetch any file (I use Wuala on both Mac and TT to facilitate that) is pretty awesome. I intend to make the TT my primary business travel machine, which always raises the threat of those "oops...I don't have the file (or the software) I need on this machine" moments. That's what remote desktops are for. But lately, seeing how well Splashtop works, I find myself using it around the house, too. For instance I've given up on trying to find an Android spreadsheet app that isn't lame and slooooow (even Google Docs doesn't do it for me); now I just connect to my Mac, fire up Excel, and get the job done right. If you sometimes need (or just want) the power of a desktop machine on your TT, drop a dime and get this. You can thank me later. You should also pick up a stylus if you don't already have one (I'm loving the Kensington), because desktop controls rendered on a ten-inch screen can be kind of tiny to poke accurately with your fat fingers. Enjoy! P.s.: Nope, I'm not affiliated with Splashtop. I just really appreciate stuff that works well, is powerful, and gives good value. Plus I'm just tickled to be running my desktop on my TT with no compromises.

I have looked at Splashtop, but before getting it, I wonder if it is better than the LogMeIn Ignition that comes (although a trial) with the TT. I use LogMeIn a lot with desktops and laptops, but it can be very laggy depending onP the internet connection. I would welcome your views as I intend to use one of these apps a lot!

  • Why can I no longer use my remote Desktop Apps?

I have the unlimited data plan on my Droid Razr (I know its a tad dated) and was able to use these apps flawlessly until about 2 months ago.  It says that I am unable to reach the host due to the configuration of the network I am using.  Wifi still works and connects at home, but it seems that there are issues when trying to do so via both Google remote desktop app and Splashtop.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Let's look further into this nkfitz1313! Did anything specific take place when this began (new phone, update)? Have you tried working with your home internet provider to try changing the beginning and end ranges of the IP range on your router? Please share more details. Thank you.

  • Windows 2008 Server crashed - How to find location of remote shared files that they used to access on remote web app?

We have a client that was running windows 2008 server.  A previous IT person had setup their system, so we were walking into a situation where there were many unknowns.  Server was mainly handling emails only, and we were able to get their exchange
database off and export PSTs to hosted exchange via microsoft.
Everything went fine with that, however one user said that he used to access files on the server via the remote web app as he described.  He would go to the following url:
    https://mail.theirdomain.com/remote/menu.aspx#
and he would use his login and then he would see several links to folders.  He could then click on those and see his desired files.
We were able to get the server booted again, however we could not find any of the files he described on it at all, leaving me to suspect that perhaps this remote link was accessing another PC.
We have the old server up and running, however the link above is no longer active because we have pointed the domain to the new hosted exchange server.  As I am still learning and my boss wanted me to research this on my own and figure out how to find
out where these files are located.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Just as a note I did try access mail.localhost.com/remote/menu.aspx# on the server but this did not work.  Is there any way in the IIS 7 management console to figure out where this was pointing to?

I figured it out - The server was using sharepoint to host these files.  I browsed localhost:987 and opened the sharepoint site locally on the server.  They had several documents to be exported, however when clicking on Open in Explorer it was
giving an error that local client was not configured.  I installed Desktop Experience and after that was able to open it in Windows Explorer and copy all files off.
