Here are a few questions for the iWeb geniuses out there.
• Thanks to Domains Juggler I can now handle the different domains created on different computers. BUT - is there a way of merging domains ?
Currently I have separate domains - one for clients, one for personal work, one for projects. Trouble is, that some sites I created for clients were on the personal domain and vice versa. Is there a way of taking a site and plonking/merging it in/to another domain ?
• Is there a way to create a log-in and password box, so you can make part of your iWeb site accessible to your specific clients only ?
• Currently any images on iWeb can be dragged and dropped onto anyone's desktop. Is there a way of "locking" the images, or does one have to use Flash in that case ?
• Finally, still an issue - how does one keep track of all the sites when travelling (let's say without one's powerbook) ? The only solution I found, is to send the links to the individual sites via e-mail to my self - but that seems so ********. Apple currently does not offer a better solution - the "Pages" on .mac will only give you the most used/published pages of one site, (...........which seems even more ********).

A. If you are using dot mac then I believe that you can create and protect a site but not a page. Therefore you could put a link to a second site on your main page.
Is there a way of "locking" the images, or does one have to use Flash in that case ?
A. Not within iWeb, if someone wants them they will get them, by doing a screen capture if nothing else.
Finally, still an issue - how does one keep track of all the sites when travelling (let's say without one's powerbook) ?
A. Not quite sure what you are trying to achieve here, if it is moitoring site traffic then you could look at something like StatCounter, you insert the html code post processing, but it allows you to login to their site and monitor your traffic. Do a search on the forum for StatCounter, you should turn up some results.

ISE and 3850 3.2.2SE - Authenticating Wrong Domain and More

Hi everyone,
Have been forced in to accepting the new session aware networking commands and I am running in to a few issues. I finally have a service policy that is authenticating dot1x and MAB (we use EAP-TLS for the desktop and MAB for the phone), however I am experiencing two major issues:
When attempting to authenticate both devices, the port has a port-security issue and moves to an err-disabled state.
When attempting to authenticate just the phone with the service-policy, the phone is authenticated in to the data domain. However, if I use a service-policy that authenticates just MAB the phone will be correctly authenticated in to the voice domain.
Can anyone give me some pointers in the right direction? Attached is the interface configuration and service-policy I'm using.

Please find attached the following:
1-Device.txt = The output when only authenticating MAB and one device. As you can see it starts unauthorized and once authorized remains on the data domain despite receiving the correct service template I have configured that allows voice domain access.
2-Devices.txt = This is what occurs when authenticating both dot1x and mab in a sequential manner for two devices. Once the second device is authenticated there is no access session for it, as you can see the port is put in to an err-disabled state.

Pros and cons in setting AD domain trust into my AD domain for more than 10+ AD domain and some with same FQDN or label ?

Can someone please share what is the pros and Cons of trusting AD domain for more than 10 different AD sites into my existing single domain forest let say ParentCompany.com ?
At the moment I only have one single forest AD domain with the Domain and Forest functionality Windows Server 2003. The main domain controller FSMO role holder is in the Data Center spread across three different VMs running on Windows Server 2008 R2.
The main/parent company has acquired smaller business chain of 15+ offices in which they have their own Domain Controller and also their own domain, sometimes they also got the same AD domain between them (no trust or whatsoever in those 15+ AD domain).
Sounds crazy but yes, there is no standardization in them or whoever manage their IT infrastructure previously.
I'm now considering what are the benefits of creating the AD domain and trust versus importing those AD objects into my domain and then decommission them.
No need to worry about Exchange Server since all of the user in those sites connecting to the RDS to my ParentCompany.com terminal servers.
My requirements or goal are as follows:
1. Simplify the AD domain structure & maintenance
2. Try to avoid the disruptions of the user in terms of downtime and selecting multiple different domain everytime they login to their PC or SharePoint sites.
any kind of help and suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I think you mean 10 AD domains.
Managing multiple domains can be difficult for administration. I usually recommend using a single domain in a single forest with OUs to separate resources whenever it is possible.
However, if you can't do that then you can simply create trust relationships between your domains. The advantage is that you can enable access to resources to different domains. I do not see cons here.

I would recommend consolidating your domains into a single one. ADMT is a migration tool that you can use. The advantage would be the ease of administration. Also, by having multiple DCs for the same domain across sites, you will take benefit of High Availability
of your and DRP.

How do I restrict access by domain and the rest of the world to the documents in the public_html folder in iPlanet Portal Server?

Hello,
We have multiple domains configured in our iPlanet Portal Server 3 demo environment. In addition we are using the gateway.
In one of these domains the userTemplate.html file is tailored to display Macromedia Flash components at dynamic positions on the page. The logical home for these Flash components (since the portal software cannot find them if we simply store them in iwtDesktop) is somewhere below the /opt/SUNWips/public_html directory.
The problem is that once the file is stored here I can access it if I know the url (http://server:8080/file_path) without being authenticated in the domain.
The allow/deny url policy settings are specific to a domain and seem to have no affect on the rest of the world.
Any advice you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Joel,
If your intent is to block access to the doc root, you can probably use access control lists (acl) to prevent anyone from accessing the files stored under public_html. You can get more information about how to create ACLs from the following URL

You can even set up Basic Authentication for access to the direcory or ip based access or any which way you want. I've personally never blocked access to the doc root in portal, so I am not sure what the impact will be.

Copying files from local computer to a remote server which is not in Domain and with username and password?

2ndly, I need help , I am not asking anyone here to write code for me, I have already wrote that but its not doing which its suppose to do,
check below screen shot, after running suggested script, it has mapped drive ,
now I do not want to do that, I want just files to copy from that machine to my machine, and want script which I can run from any PC,
Tried with UNC PATH as well, but not making any difference, its keep mapping that server drive to my computer

Bill - he still sees that "connection" although it isn't mapped it is attached temporarily.
P - Log off and log back on and the attached connection will be gone. It is temporary. Again - knowing the basics of WIndows would let you know this.
We have given you all of the answers that are possible. There is no other way unless you have installed things like PowerShell and PowerShell remoting or an FTP server.
If you do use a drive it can be just as easily deleted after you have finished the copy.
Again: "NET USE /?" will tell you all of the options.

Intune: No licenses, user name not recognized and more errors

I've just activated our IUR from our Action Pack subscription.
So, I go an Intune product key for 5 users for 1 year and set it up in the Intune Portal.
So far, so good.
My domain and users from Office365 have automatically transferred to Intune as well, so that's great.
However, it seems the licenses won't activate or something.
When I look at Subscription > Manage (or something like that, it's Dutch), it says 5 licenses until Aprl 2nd 2016.
However, in Subscription > Licenses it says I don't have any licenses.
Also, when going to any other portal (company or admin), it says 'User Name not recognized'.
My main account is rowdy[A]noord-computers.nl
Is there something more I should do? Or do I just have to wait a few days?

If you still see this problem, you should contact Microsoft support from the Intune portal.
They can help you fix this problem.

Domains and Groups

I'm hosting two FQDNs on the server, Domain1 and Domain2. I also have three groups as well.
If I go to www.domain1/groups, all thee groups appear, but one of them is a 404 link, while the other two groups are fine.
Conversely, if I go to www.domain2/group, all thee groups appear and the reverse is true.... two of them are 404 links and one works fine.
As life would have it, that's actually the way I want it to work.... but don't quite understand why.
Ultimately, I'd like people visiting from Domain2 to not even know that other groups exist, let alone be able to click in and look around.
Any ideas?

Hi,
You have one server hosting two virtual domains. The wikiServer builds a listing of all the groups your server is hosting. Depending on which domain a group is assigned to (Enabled services site) it will answer on a request to that domain and return 404 if not enabled on that domain.
I've used one approach to separation, which is to build a static listing page for only those groups on a specific domain say http://domainX/Welcome.html then edit the site conf file and add the following redirect:

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} ^TRACE
RewriteRule .* - [F]
RewriteRule ^/groups\/$ "/Welcome.html" [R=301]
Which will refer all requests for a domainX/groups to your welcome page with the groups listing (you need to add the links to specific groups, e.g ../groups/groupZ).
This also self contains the wikis and blogs to use "Other Wikis" in the footer as a redirect to your welcome page.
Of course, this approach could be extended to as many virtual domains as you have groups for and separates domainX from domainY. What you lose is the dynamic updating of the group listing for more control on your part but doing it manually.

Hey, guys. Thanks for responding. I really didn't know I was so clueless about this stuff.
I really thought "urxvt" could be used as an alias or, what we called in Debian, an alternative, to the rxvt-unicode-256color command. I guess not? I'm still trying to set up "vi" to be Vim as well, and I'll read more of the Wiki to figure that stuff out with Arch.
So in the tty interface I can start zsh again just fine. That's old news. I removed the TERM setting and placed the resource in my .Xresources that derhamster said. Thanks.
I also replaced the line in my Openbox rc.xml and menu.xml for terminal opening commands (can I use $TERM for those?)
Now when I start Xorg (with Openbox running) I tried both urxvt-unicode-256color and urxvt but none of them work with Openbox. No terminal emulator pops up and no errors show that I can see.

Personal Domain and MobileMe

Once I changed my settings to my Personal Domain, I could no longer post my second MobileMe site. Can I use a Personal Domain and have more than one MobileMe site?

This is incorrect. You can only use the personal domain name option with CNAME forwarding ONCE for every MobileMe account. If you want other sites, then you can publish as many as you want and they will have the url http://web.me.com/username/sitename. If you want to use domain names with these sites, then you can, but you have to use ordinary masked or unmasked web forwarding so that your domain is forwarded to web.me.com/username/sitename.
Also, why do you persist in placing links that don't work? Try clicking on your WordPress link and it comes up every time with server not found.

Problems Removing Secondary Domain and agents

I had a secondary Domain and a gwia and webaccess agent running on an vm box. The box had issues and crashed and I was unable to recover it. I am now left with a secondary domain and two gateways that I can cannot get rid of because the edir objects are gone. I get this error when I try to connect to the gateways....E-Directory counterpart of this object does not exist. The objects are not in edir. I am also unable to delete the domain because it has subordinates left under it. What are my choices for cleaning this out. I really would like to get this resolved before I try to upgrade to GW8.

This can be fairly difficult given your situation of not being able to recover the server so you might consider opening a service request with a partner or Novell Technical Support. I will try to give you the steps to follow though here..
1. You need to first get the object back in the tree. To do this, you must graft them in by selecting a container in the tree and selecting Tools|GroupWise Utilities|GW/eDIr Associations|Graft GroupWise Objects. Follow the wizard through all the steps. This should get you the objects back though I do not understand why they would be gone in the first place with just a server crash. I assume that eDir was on other servers as well so wondering if you manually deleted the objects but either way, that is what you need to do.
2. This is where it can be a bit tricky. You need to create a temp folder on the server and rebuild the secondary domain into that folder so that you have a database to work with. Just go to properties of that secondary domain and change the UNC path to point to the temp folder and then under GroupWise Utilities|System Maintenance choose Rebuild Database. In the end, there should be a wpdomain file in that temp folder.
3. Copy in all the .dc files from your primary domain root folder into this temp folder.
4. You now need to Release that secondary domain from the GroupWise system. To do this, make sure you are connected to the primary GW domain and then right click on the secondary in question and choose GroupWise Utilities|GroupWise System Maintenance and then there is an option to release secondary. This also brings up a wizard to walk you through the process.
5. Now the secondary should show up in your live system as an external system. You just need to go under Tools|GroupWise System Operations|External System Synchronization and delete the new link it automatically created.
6. Now you can just delete the objects. You may need to delete them separately from the tree afteward.
Let me know if you have any more questions or need clarification.

Virtual domains and their installation

Thank you all for your help the last time I was in need.
I'm setting up Postfix by editing the postfix files directly without using server admin due to it's limitations. Especially since I'm using an external GW in a DMZ along with an internal server delivering the mail.
And now I would like to add virtual domains using "Postfix virtual MAILBOX example: separate domains, non-UNIX accounts". Is this possible with OS X?
I have read what is on postfix.org, I have read what is in Alex's installation guide but there are a few things I'm not getting.
I've created the virtual domains and all that stuff but I'm not getting the creation of user access. Do you mean I actually need to create each and every user acessing mail in Workgroup manager?
Could you point me to some information that bypasses the use of server admin but is still usefull in setting up mail under OS X. I don't want to use SA since I do not want to ruin my manual setup of the Postfix files.

P.S. Just make a backup fo main.cf so you can copy paste changes that might get hosed by Server Admin. Once your setup is complete, adding users through WGM or aliases through /etc/postfix/virtual will not touch main.cf

Platform Domain and WorkShop JMS Control Problems

I created a platform domain and created a workflow in WLI. I would like to expose
the workflow from a web service. I successfully used the JMS control to send
the XML request into WLI and receive the reply from WLI. My problem is whenever
I try to execute the callback function when I receive my reply from JMS it his
a loop and never executes the callback to the client. In the same service i replaced
the JMS interaction with a timer and it works fine. The problem only occurrs when
the JMS control receives the reply and then invokes the callback. If I just receive
the reply without calling the callback everything works fine. Any ideas? Thanks

I did a little more debugging and it looks like when the message is sent to the
JMS Queue a different instance of the session EJB is calledback to when the JMS
reply is received. I noticed when my callback is invoked by JMS i have different
proxy and context objects. I hope this helps.

How to Publish to a personal domain AND .Mac?

I had a working iWeb site published to web.mac and it working fine. I added a new site in iWeb08 and set up a personal domain. When I selected the new site and published, BOTH my old site and the new one published to my personal domain. How do I tell iWeb08 to publish one site to a personal domain and another site to .Mac (.Me)?

This post is a little confusing. Do you have two sites hosted at MMe or not?
Do you mean that you used to host your business site and MMe and have now switched to uploading directly to your web host using ftp? If you have, then you can of course delete this site from your iDisk/MMe account, because if you have uploaded directly, then MMe has nothing to do with your domain name any more.
If you have not done this and you are hosting both your sites on your MMe account via either CNAME or web forwarding, then no, you can't delete that site because if you do, there is nowhere to forward to.
Password protection will not affect any other sites that you have. Just go into iWeb and set this up and then re-publish and it will just affect that site that you set it up for. Nothing else.
