Domine Problem?

Dear all,
I have a Problem.
I changed the domine of an allready exsinting field of a table and I created entries
for the range values in the new domine.
when I save regenerate and regenerate the maintanance screen I am not getting the new set of values I hav eamintained in the new domine but it is still displaying the values from the previously maintained domine.
can some one tell me how to encounter this problem and make the valuse of the new domine appear for selection
VJ

If you created a new "Z" domain, you must make sure that you now change the data element which is being used for the field in your table, to now use the "Z" domain which you created.  If the data element is not a custom "Z" one, you should create a "Z" data element and then make sure to assign the "Z" domain to this "Z" data element, when all this is done, you should then change the field in your table to use the "Z" data element,  then do SE14 to adjust, then delete the table mainteance, and recreate it.  This should cover it all.

  • Field Dominance problem and questions

I am trying to capture 24p Advanced DVCAM material. I've been using the easy setup. I've tried test captures of about 15 seconds (using capture now) which come into FCP with a field Dom. of NONE and load into my 23.98 sequence timeline with a olive green render indicator (I know I can edit with that as that is just a playback resolution downgrade). If I rewind to approx. the same start point on the tape and capture a 9 minute clip, it comes in with a field dominance of EVEN and loads into the exact same timeline with an orange render indicator. First off, that seems odd to me. Secondly, I've read in other forums that there is a possibility that I can change the field dom. of my longer clips and/or my sequence, but I'm not at all clear on it. Will changing the field dom. allow me to edit w/o render indicators? Do you think that it is the field dom. issue that is causing the render indicators' to appear, or could it be other issues. It seems to me that the fact that I can get the short clips to load with and olive green line, means that it probably is the field dom. issue that is causing my difficulties. Is there an error in my logic? I'm also unclear if I am able to tell FCP not to render in interlaced mode. Is that something I can do? Does it even apply to my situation?

    Jerry,
Thanks for the reply. I've been "assured" (who knows what that means) that the material was shot advanced, but it might make sense for me to do a test to see if Cinema Tool pulldown removal solves my problem. Can I use the pulldown removal option in the FCP tools menu after I've captured or do I need to use Cinema Tool.
I must say I'm still baffled about my different length clips capturing with different properties even though I never changed any settings between captures. Any hunches on your part about that anomaly?

  • Frame Dominance Problems

I have a PAL matrox RTx-100 board in my machine and am building DVD's in Encore 2.0 When I build the DVD the video seems to stutter looking like the field dominance is wrong. The RTX-100 captures at upper field first and my renders out of Premiere also stay as upper field.
I have tried the automatic setting in Encore as well as changing the field to upper manually and the problem still occurs. I thought it may be bitrate possibly so have tried various VBR and CBR rates right down to below 4mbps but it still does exactly the same.
The only thing I can thing it is, is that it is forcing the encoding to lower field when all my avi files are upper, but I have no idea why. It also works fine in encore 1.5 on the automatic setting and on manual upper field first.
I have also tried using various disc media using different brands and -r and +r. I have also tried another burner drive (my installed drive is an NEC and I tried an external Freecom) but with no difference.

Matrox have the field order wrong.
    It's that simple.
It does not matter what the true order is, whatever frame the RTX-100 sees first will be called "Upper Field", whether it is or not.
Always avoidthe use of proprietary AVI formats like Matrox or Canopus ones, and use MS DV-AVI.
Sorry to say, but Matrox' main concern these days is in the Games market, and pro users can apparently all go to hell.
The Parhelia 256 AGP card, for example, only supports OpenGL 1.3, so is useless with After Effects, and is also built on DirectX 8.1 drivers, as the card cannot handle DX9 because of architecture problems.
    And so it goes on.....

  • Field dominance problem?

    Hello:
When editing DVcam footage into a dv sequence with Livetype graphics, which field dominance (none, upper, lower) should be chosen in seq settings?
I take it LT graphics should be created with the same FD? Currently, my seq is LOWER fd, as are LT graphics, but this one LT billboard push transition (moves from up to down, revealing incoming shot beneath) strobes and even seems to have the "double strobe" burnt into it. I have a screen snap I could send if someone needed to see the problem.
    Thanks much
    KB

lower (even) is the correct field dominance for any DV based sequence (excepting HDV)
i'm assuming you're seeing this strobing on your external TV/Broadcast monitor
obviously the first thing to do is simpy run a couple of tests yourself. try changing your field dominance to None
going further, you might try using moving the whole LT compostion up/down a pixel in your FCP sequence ... its been known to help with Text Generator Crawls and Rolls.
worth a try i should think.
    hope it helps

  • MSI GT70 2PC Dominator problems

My laptop has 3 recurring problems. First, the fan noise is really loud when almost playing any modern game. And even when not playing games, the fan noise is audible. I am just worried that there could be a problem with the fan, so should I replace it?. The second problem is the CPU temperature. It reaches up to 90 degrees Celsius when playing games and I fear that this is not normal, do you guys think its normal?. Finally, I have an issue with the Killer N1202 wireless adapter. As online games especially League of Legends, is almost unplayable at times. The amount of lag spikes I get is immense. I tried using Ethernet and it seemed a lot more stable. However, I tried that for about one day when the net was not at its worst. I fear that its a hardware issue for all those mentioned problems  . Tell me what you think guys. Any help is much appreciated

Thanks for the reply. I tried contacting MSI by email and no reply yet. I did register my product, yet when I try to send a support ticket, there is no option for laptop and when I click on register my product (even though I did it a long time ago). it redirects me to the MSI International login page. When I make an account in the international site, it redirects me to the login page of the US and Canada website. Its really messed up...therefore I can't send a support ticket.
I bought my laptop about 4 months ago. Also, can you instruct me on how to update EC firmware, as I'm not really familiar with that stuff. Also, do you have the same laptop? because I can't seem to update my drivers from the MSI website. On the Canadian MSI website, my laptop model is in the list yet there aren't any windows 8 or 8.1 drivers. Only a windows 7 driver.
I did turn off my bluetooth, but no results. I also unchecked the box that turns off the wireless network to save power. but I still get unstable ping on LoL. Football manager 15 is not really demanding, yet the fan goes insane during the match which is in 3d but not even that good of a quality. Do you recommend using GT70 Fan Control V1.6.3 setup? or  it might cause more hardware problems? I appreciate your help

  • Multiple MSI GT60 2PC Dominator Problems

This thing is a beast when it comes to running games and getting my work done, but there are so many problems that seem to sprout up every twenty seconds that I'm really starting to regret not getting another laptop.
Anyway, I have several problems that I had to make an account to get help for, since there is no help whatsoever in the manual or elsewhere online.
1.) When the computer is completely shut off, and I press the power button, it seems to start up for a moment (you can hear the fans start to whirl and whatnot), but then it turns back off. It then repeats this process for a random amount of time before it actually starts up (if it starts up at all).
2.) The special keys that came on the computer, such as "cooler boost", "Display off", and "Dragoon Gaming Center" haven't been working properly. While the cooler boost still functions well, the Gaming Center icon and the Display Off button no longer respond to me pressing them. I mostly used Dragon gaming center to see how hot my CPU and GPU were running, but now it refuses to work whatsoever.
3.) The "Fn key + F5" and other combinations no longer work. As in, I can no longer set my computer to eco mode or anything like that. The only function that seems to still work is when I want to turn off my keyboard backlight, but other than that, the Fn key seems broken somehow.
Please help, it's very frustrating trying to deal with all this and finding no help online whatsoever.

The information you give us is limited and symptom only, no other information such as OS, BIOS, EC, and app version which make it difficult to give advise. But for issue No. 1, maybe it is mechanical problem. when power button is hit, somehow the button get stuck or sink and then accidentally the power button is hit again which cause system shutdown.
For issue 2 and 3, make sure you have installed correct SCM version and EC firmware for your system.

  • Boris text render problem

    Hello,
I am having a problem with the Boris Title Crawl text generator. The problem manifests itself as a field dominance problem. Here is a description of how to create the problem:
    1) Create a new project in FCE (I am using FCE 4)
    2) Drag the Boris Title Crawl generator to the timeline
    3) Open the clip in the viewer
    4) Enter some text into the generator
    5) Select the "roll" animation style
    6) Render the clip (IMPORTANT)
Set the zoom in the canvas to 100% and play the clip. Notice the interlace artifacts, particularly in the curved parts of the text. Note that the fields appear to be *out of order*. That is, the upper field should be the lower field and vis-a-versa.
I've been trying to figure out how to fix this problem. Applying a deinterlace filter cleans it up but you loose resolution. I've tried applying the "shift field" filter but this does not clean up the problem, though a setting of "-1" makes a small improvement. This appears to either be a problem with the Boris generator or some field dominance problem. The field dominance for the clip is "not set". Changing this setting does not fix the problem. Field dominance for the sequence is "Upper" which is what is expected for the HD sequence.
    Any thoughts?
    Steve

Tried to reply to your message but it bounced.
The field order does not appear reversed to me. You're seeing the correct interlacing. You're not seeing interlacing on the LT project because it's project properties have the field order set to none. If you set the project properties inside the LT project to upper you will see the same interlacing. Interlacing is correct for 1080i material. If you don't want to render with interlacing set the sequence field dominance to none and re-render it.
    All the best,
    Tom

  • Encore CS5 transcoding problem

I am using Win7 and trying to create a DVD in Encore CS5, using AVI files created in Prem Pro and can view in Monitor or Preview windows ok. When I transcode and then view in Monitor or Preview window the display simply displays as all horizontal green lines, best described as noise. It could be a field dominance problem...Has anyone had this ?. I am using PAL DV transcodes with Lower field first and have tried reloading all software on a computer with different graphics card etc...same result!. This has previously worked for me using Encore CS2

Can you give us the Export settings on those DV-AVI files? Should be pretty plain-vanilla, but let's get that out of the way first.
Also, are those files muxed, i.e. combined Audio and Video?
If so, try with elemental/elementary streams, i.e. one Audio-only PCM/WAV (or fully-DVD-compliant DD AC3) @ 48KHz 16-bit, and the one DV-AVI Video-only. Import that DV-AVI Video-only file as a Timeline, and the PCM/WAV as an Asset. In En, just drag the WAV from the Project Panel to the appropriate Timeline, where it will snap into place. Test this workflow.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Boris Title roll problem!!!!

Ja have the 1080i 50 8 bit sequence. I try to put the boris title roll on the timeline. Rolling title looks like the interlace problem. I've tried the video filters such as de interlace, shift fields, flicker filter.I;ve changed the sequence setting many times trying set the field dominace but ...No effect.... Strange for me that rolling title looks better on the video client monitor, but only using composite analog output. On the HD SDI output problem still exist. I have that problem foe a long time... It's frustrating .... Please help...

I.ve checked that exactly the same problem I have using motion to create title roll sequence. Putted on the timeline seemes to field dominance problem....

  • Jagged edges using DVCPRO 50

    yeesh.
We are capturing footage that was shot at 24 fps, 16:9 anamorphic standard def on an SDX900 camera using on DVCpro tapes, off of an AJSD93 deck over firewire. We capture with the DVCPRO50-NTSC codec, and have tried both 23.98 and 24.
and we are PLAGUED with these frames with horrible jagged edges. This appears to be an interlace/field dominance problem, but uh it was shot progressive. Any of you masters got any ideas?

  • Thin Black Line going halfway across the top of the screen

Hi - I've exported a sequence from FCP. It's DV Pal 720x576 anamorphic 16:9 lower field dominance. I used compressor to create the mpeg 2 file for DVDSP. I used the Best Quality DVD 150 min setting. The problem I'm having is that when I export the file from DVD studio pro I get a black line going halfway across the top line of the video. I suspect it's either a deinterlacing issue or a field dominance problem. But I'm really stuck on how to sort it. Any ideas would be really appreciated. Thanks very much.

    Something like this?
................................................................................ ........... (might also be mirrored horizontally)
That's the Half Line Offset and is a characteristic of interlaced video, not an issue or field dominance problem. It's quite complicated to explain and probably not surprising if you have never seen it before as it won't be visible on a regular TV set.
Short article here: http://lipas.uwasa.fi/~f76998/video/modes/ Look at the section "The "active" part of the signal". There's probably plenty more on the web, now you know what it's called.
What can you do about it? You will need to view FCP's output on an external interlaced monitor that is capable of displaying in underscan mode so you can see it.
Then you can use the crop controls to snip it off.

  • Exporting Issues--grainy quality with lines

I am trying to export a video in Final Cut 7 using Quicktime Conversion and no matter what changes I make there is this grainy quality that shows up on the exported file every time there is camera movement or movement in general. Its as if you can see the lines of the different "fields" of video not coming together. Everything is fine in the program but once I export the .mov file seems to be corrupted.

OK, your source and Sequence look correct, without any field dominance problems.  Now we can look elsewhere for your problem.
Did you try using Quicktime 7 with the correct preferences set to view your exported file, as I suggested in an earlier post?
Also, export about 30 seconds of your sequence (mark an in point and 30 seconds later on the timeline mark an out point) without using conversion - File > Export > Quicktime Movie with the Settings set to Current Settings and the box for Self Contained checked.
Once that is exported, take a look at that movie using Quicktime 7 as described above and see if that looks OK.

  • Shaky Video after export

Hello. I've posted on this before, but havent quite found my answer.
I have video with some motion in it that looks shaky when I burn it to DVD. Someone suggested that I try adding the De-Interlace filter to correct it, but that doesnt seem to be it. I can watch the video from FCE on a TV going thru my camera and it looks fine (with or without the De-interlace filter). But when I export the video as a self contained movie, then pull it in to toast, and burn a DVD, the motion looks bad on the DVD. I also tried going thru iDVD, and there it looked even worse.
This problem is new to me. I've had video with motion before and didnt have this issue.
    Any ideas????
    Thanks!

I also read your earlier posts on this topic.
From your description I'd exclude de-interlacing and the field dominance problem: you detect these issues before burning if you Print to Video or playback through the firewire connection to a interlaced TV. And you did that.
So export might be the problem. Let me however suggest a test to check if the Export process from FCE or the burning process by Toast or iDVD is the issue.
After export you could try to open the exported .mov (with Export/QuickTime Movie !) using QT Pro, open the property window (cmd-J), select the video track, open the view settings (or something alike, I have the Italian version...) and check High Quality. Then in the main window if you go through the shaky part frame by frame (right arrow) you should see how each frame looks:
    - If a frame has a comb effect (due to the fact that its 2 fields have different timing) that's not necessarily bad: what you see is interlacing, that should be correctly handled by the playback device (whether through firewire from FCE or when recorded on DVD).
    - But if frames jump back and forth, then you might have a field dominance problem.
If interlacing or field dominance is a problem, however as I said above, you should see it also when you watch the movie connected to a TV.
To cross check, in FCE you can set the canvas window to 100% (no more e no less) and repeat the frame by frame test I suggest above in QT Pro: if the behaviour is the same the problem is in the use of Toast or iDVD, if they behave differently in FCE (better) and QT (worse), then Export is the culprit.
This doesn't solve your issue, but it might help in understand it.
I hope I did not confuse your ideas...

  • How to Ruin an MPEG-2 video.

If you don't turn off "Frame Blend" on MPEG-2 video clips, the result will look like you might have a field dominance problem.
MPEG files don't necessarily store frames in the physical order that they are played back. In my analysis, Premiere Elements doesn't take that into account when frame blending. When you watch scenes with action, there's a lot of jittery movement, but you can't pin it down to a field dominance or a field swap problem because the problem still exists after you have attempted to fix the problem. I get very nauseated when there is a real field dominance problem, but don't get that way with just a jittery problem as in this case. The problem is PE frame blending on non-consecutive frames in MPEG files.
I forgot to turn off frame blending on my Zorro Chapter 2 movie that I downloaded from www.archive.org. After turning off frame blending and burning the DVD again, the playback was smooth.

Please accept my apologies for posting this topic. It turns out to be completely false. Although I turned off frame blend and got a good playback, the real cause for the problem with the first burn when frame blend was turned on was from a hacked preset that burned the DVD as progressive. I won't go any further into the hack part.

  • HD footage on a standard DVD?

I used FCP5 and edited a 1:30 sec trial piece all in HD (1080i). I used Compressor and choose the DVD Best Quality 90 Minutes setting. In DVD Studio Pro 4, I had the setting on letter box. When I played it in the simulator it looked great.
I burned the DVD and tried it in a DVD player on my TV. The video was really jumpy. By jumpy I mean as the camera panned everything flashed in a sense. It was actually hard on the eyes.
What settings do I need to be using throughout this process to take HD footage and burn it onto a DVD that non-HD TVs can use? Thanks in advance!
    -Craig

It's hard to know for certain without actually seeing what "flashed in a sense" really means, but this may be a field dominance problem. This seems to be a common issue when converting from HD to SD. Try making two difference versions of your video, one with lower/bottom field dominant and the other with upper/top field. Or, if you know for certain what you used previously try switching to the other setting.<small><hr width="75%"><small>If this suggestion helps in any way, a confirmation or acknowledgment would be appreciated, since that would also help others who may be having the same difficulty.
