You cannot uninstall the update. Apple does not support downgrading. What troubleshooting have you done? Start with a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. Are you syncing contacts with iCloud?

  • Missing contact when "create new contact" from email or number

I am having a really strange problem on my iPhone and think it will be a fun mystery to solve. Please help me!
It is currently set up with google so that my mail/notes are using gmail IMAP and my contacts/calendars are using Google Sync. So far it's been working pretty well except for all the known many bugs and issues (please fix these, google!). I have no other email, calendar, or contact accounts set up (not even syncing with my computer).
I received an email from a friend who I did not yet have a contact for, so in the email header I clicked her name and chose to "Create new contact." As usual, the email address was already in the "email" field, so I just edited her name and filled out the "company" field and pressed Done. The "from" field in the email updated to show that the contact had been added to my phone and that it recognized the email as being from her.
Now, I go to add a number to her contact and when I navigate through my contacts list, her name is no where to be seen. I've tried searching through the contacts by using the search bar at the top of both the Phone and the Contacts apps, but nothing shows up. However, when I compose an email and start typing her address, it recognizes her as a contact. Even weirder, I just tried the entire phone search spotlight feature, and it found her contact right away, as if it were any normal contact. When I click on it, it brings me to her contact page, which I cannot edit, and when I press the little left arrow "Contacts" in the top left of the screen to go back to the whole listing, she's not there!
When I go to add contacts using the little + symbol in the top right of the phone app, it works normally and the contact appears as usual. But every time I try to do a new contact from email, this happens! Choosing to "update existing contact" works fine, though. So I've been forced to create an empty contact with her name in the Phone app, and then add the email to it.
Please help my find where in my phone this contact is residing, and how to bring it out so I can find it. I have tried force-quitting the relevant apps from the multi-task dock, and even turning off and on my phone, but to no luck.
Update: Just tried creating a new contact from a phone number I've previously dialed and the same thing happens! Where are my contacts going?? This is so weird!
Not sure if this is just a google sync issue, but I figured I'd post it in case other people are having similar issues
    Device: Apple iPhone 4
    Carrier: AT&T
    Country / Language: USA English
    OS: iOS 4

I recently experienced a similar event. I was adding from Contacts "+" button on the iPhone 4. I completed entering the data & hit "done". I went back to add a photo. I hit "done" & went to test the result. No new contact. Search did not find it. Tried two more times with different contacts. Same result.
At one point, the "All Contacts" directory went blank. Nothing. Seconds later the contacts returned. Scary. I rebooted the iPhone. No new contacts but old ones fine.
I then entered with an old iPhone on OS 3.2 same data. Showed quickly via MobileMe. On the new iPhone added photo the photo. All OK. From an iPad, OS3 I did the same. Added photo in new phone. All OK. I added from the new iPhone including photo. All OK.
The iPhone IOS4 reboot may be the answer. Wish I had tried older systems before reboot.

  • 'Create New Contact' not working in Phone app

I want to Create New Contact after a call from a new number (selecting the "circled i" button next to the "unknown" phone number in the Recents tab) but while I was entering data in the Contact app, I was interrupted, the iPhone went to sleep and my extensive Contact entry was lost because no data is saved until the Done button is manually selected which closes the record.
When I go back to the Phone app and select the "circled i" button next to the "unknown" phone number in the Recents tab, both the "Create New Contact" and the "Add to Existing Contact" buttons to take me to the Contact app do not work...i.e. nothing happens when I press them, even after putting the iPhone to sleep. After several tries, I let it sleep for 10 minutes and now these buttons linking to the Contact app from the Phone app again work as usual.
So we have two unacceptable defects in the iPhone basic Apple apps here:
1- interruptions while entering a new Contact app record causes the new record to be lost because it isn't automatically saved when the iPhone goes to sleep or an incoming call, etc, but only when the user manually selects the Done button in the Contact app record, which closes the record and one must then select the Edit button to resume data entry (repeat often to simply save as you enter in case there is an unexpected interruption...how dumb is that?. This is just poor iOS implementation that doesn't consider common usage situations that cause data loss, and it could be data that isn't easily retrieved. If Apple doesn't know how to implement auto save at frequent intervals, or upon certain events like sleep or incoming call, then they should at least put a Save button next to the Done button so we can manually save without the stupid Done and Edit button pushing, repeat, repeat, repeat.
2- A bug in the Phone app that causes the link buttons to the Contact app to stop functioning in at least the situation I describe above. This is unacceptable in a mature iOS basic usage app.

  • Can't create new contacts from email message

I get an email message that has a phone number in it and of course an email address. I want to create a new contact. I hold down on the phone number and a dialog appears asking if I want to add to contacts. I select it and press Create New Contact. I type in a name. I click Done. The dialog disappears. I go to Contacts and there is no entry. Is this supposed to work?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

This solved it. Don't know why. Shouldn't be like this. When I searched for it, the file appeared. Not only it it appear but my three other attempts appeared as well. All four of them are in Contacts. That's a bit wacked I think.
    Thanks very much.
Wait it gets better. I went back to the email. Clicked the email address to save it. Selected Add to existing contact. Found the contact. Added it. Click Done, and the name is gone again from the Conatcts directory. Used the search function again, and it reappeared.
But there's more. Left the phone app. Came back to it and the name is gone again. Apparently every time I want this name I have to add it by searching in Spotlight, and of course it's not updating iCloud so it's never going to get back to my computer.

  • How To Add Additional Fields When Creating New Contact From w/in Mac Mail?

Hi there. When in Mac Mail and clicking on contact information provided within an email, we are able to either (1) CREATE NEW CONTACT or (2) ADD TO EXISTING CONTACT (by clicking on the arrow next to a phone number, address, etc.). If I choose "Create New Contact," how can I add additional fields BEFORE clicking on "Add to Address Book" button in lower right corner? Let's say, for example, I know this new contacts URL or company. (Currently, I am creating the new contact from within Mac Mail and then going to Address Book and finding the contact, then editing, the adding the additional fields, then saving, and then going back to Mac Mail. This all takes time.)
Note: When creating a new iCal event from within Mac Mail, we can click on Option/Alt key when selecting drop-down arrow...and this will allow us to add additional information. The same feature isn't available for address book???

I have the exact same question and problem. If there was a way to automatically open the AB entry after "creating new contact" this would solve it.
    Thanks for any suggestion

  • My contacts are organized in different groups. An iPhone trade show app (Vinexpo) displays exhibitors infos and allows to create new contacts. Is there any way to save a new contact in a specified group instead of the contacts root? Thks in advance

My contacts on my iPhone are organized in different groups. I have downloaded a trade show app which gives infos on the exhibitors of the show. It offers to create new contacts from these info. Is there any way to save these new contacts in a specified group instead of putting them into the contacts root, where they are mixed with all the old ones? By the way, can we create a new contacts group directly from the IPhone, without having to go through the sync process with the PC?
    Thanks a lot in advance

Sorry, I forgot to bookmark the thread where the app was mentioned, but searching for "group" or "contacts" should bring a few results in the AppStore.

  • Can't create new contact in OS7

My husband has a new iPhone 5c. Some of the calls in his recent call list give the option of "create new contact" when you press on the "i" next to the phone number of the recent call. Other calls give the option of sharing the contact, but not creating a new one. Why can't he create a new contact with every call? Is there a way around this?

if only the share contact is available, it means the contact is already stored in the phone.

  • When in phone and I add dialed number to create new contact, I cant find it in with my contacts.  Why is this?

How come when i am on the phone or in phone app, I add number to "create new contact".  But when I go back to contacts to look it up, its not there?

Some mail programs, including Apple Mail, can reduce the size of images that are attached to a message. It's happening at the sender's end, and all you can do is ask the sender for a larger image.

  • Is there a way for the Yosemite maps app to add address to an existing contact (in contacts app) instead of creating new contact record with blank name (not useful)?

I was using the maps app in yosemite to look up an address, once I was able to verify the address, I wanted to add that address to an existing contact record in the contacts app.  When I clicked on the option to add address to contacts, it unfortunately creates a new record with the address in it, however, the rest of the contact is blank.
My question is: is there a way to prompt the user (me), to select whether they want to create a new contact or add it to an existing contact?
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • On Upgrade (from Office 2010) don't create new .ost file

Hi there, hope someone can help me.
    Here is my Problem:
I'm runninng Office 2010 (32Bit Version) on Windows 7 Enterprise x64. I've started Office 2010 with Exchange CacheMode activated. The ost-file is located under D:\Data\outlook\%username%
Now I'm testing Migration to Outlook 2013.
I'm using OAT to do the following things (regarding only Outlook):
    - Uninstall of Office 2010
    - Install of Office 2013 with using old settings
-Features:  Configuring "Do not create new ost file during Migration" (we have many subsidiaries with low performance connections - so the old ost should be used after migration)
Outlook-Profile: Tried all 3 methods (use existing profile | change profile | new Profile)
At all my tests Outlook creates a new .ost-file under standard directory and don't use  the existing ost-file under D:\Data\%Username%
After These tests i tried it with gpo "donotcreatenewostonupgrade" - But in this case also a new ost is created.
In all cases i have 2 Outlook profiles: "Outlook" (with new ost) and "Backup of Outlook" (with old ost)
    By Setting ForceOSTPath to D:\Data\outlook\%username"
    and Donotcreatnewostonupgrade to 1
i get two .ost's under D:\Data\outlook\%username" - "outlook.ost" and "Outlook data file.ost"and two mailprofiles "BACKUP OF Outlook" and "Outlook"
So ForceOSTPath is getting used, but Donotcreatnewostonupgrade not *confusing*
Can someone cann tell me a solution for this problem?

    Hi Daniel,
What OAT tool are you using? Is it the Office Customization Tool?
Where did you get the "Do not create new ost file during Migration" option in the tool? As far as I know, OST file cannot be migrated. If you were able to use the old OST file, Outlook will prompt that it
    doesn't match the server mailbox.
The ForceOSTPath applies only to new profile, it can't be used to force Outlook to use the old OST file.

    Hi jamilhamada,
IF you are ready to welcome risks ??? My suggestion could be uninstall Nokia PC Suite (whatever version exists on your PC even if its latest), nokia connectivity cable driver, PC COnnectivity solution, Run reliable registry cleaner, install latest Nokia PC Suite 7.0.8.2 and reboot the PC and then connect your phone with the pc and open Nokia communication centre which is a part of Nokia pc suite... Create new messages from this application, hope it will work well. Being a proud owner of NSeries phone, you can also install either Nokia NSeries PC Suite 2.0.262 or Nokia OVI Suite 1.0.417 etc on your pc along with Nokia PC Suite.
With the help of Nokia PC Suite (7.x), you can edit your Contacts and Messages and with the help of Nokia NSeries or OVI Suite, we may feel the new PC Suite UI ....
You can have both the PC Suites ( NOkia pc suite & NSeries PC Suite or Nokia PC Suite & Nokia OVI Suite) got installed on the same time which wont be harmful... Hope your issue will get resolved. Best of luck

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to migrate lost file from Outlook 2010 to 2013, please follow these steps: -
You need to use one of the two methods to move the OST file and both involve a new profile. If you are making a new profile, you can use
ForceOSTPath registry key. Or you can move the ost file and create a new profile in the Control Panel, Mail applet and point it to the new location.
Copy your ost file to the new location. You can skp this step if you want to create a new ost file.
    Open the
    Control panel, find Mail.
    Click Show Profiles.
    Click Add.
Type a name for your new profile, click
    Ok.
    Enter your
username and password and let Outlook find your account information.
    Select the
Change account settings option, and then click Next.
    Click
    More Settings.
    On the
Advanced tab, click Outlook Data File Settings.
    Click
Browse, browse to the ost file, then click Open.
If you want to create a new ost file, browse to the new location,
enter a filename, and then click Open, Outlook will create the new ost file.
    Click
Always use this profile, select the new profile that you created, then click
    Ok to close the dialog.
Using ForceOSTPath to set the file location
Open the registry editor and browse to this key. Create a string value named ForceOSTPath and add the path. (You can use variables, if
you are using group policy to push it out to your users).
    Outlook 2013
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook Expandable String Value: ForceOSTPath Value data: full path you want to use
    Outlook 2010
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook Expandable String Value: ForceOSTPath Value data: full path you want to use
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • Create new contact types for customer contact worklist

    Hi,
I'm new to Collections Management and have been asked to add some new dropdown options to the Create Customer Contact screen, Contact Type field.  The current options are 'Outbound Call', 'Inbound Call', 'Visit to Customer' and 'Visit from Customer'.  This is viewable in the Worklist (tcode UDM_SUPERVISOR).
I've searched SPRO and thought it might be set in the Customer Service or Notification area but can't find it in either.
