Don't despair if iphone 4S won't recharge take to Tekserve

My phone stopped recharing this weekend.
Staff at genius bar claimed that it was due to water damage to my connector.
According to them:
-iPhone was dead
-unbacked up data was lost.
-$200 to replace phone.
Went to Tekserve, it turns out:
-water damage was minimal.
-only two pins were corroded.
-none of the liquid indicators were triggered.
-all Data could be restored.
-still covered by warrantee
The problem might be specific to Soho Apple store.
I was tempted to give up on the data on my iPhone, now I know better.

Please follow the troubleshooting below to help resolve this issue with charging your iPhone.
Resolving issues
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge until your device turns on. This could take between 10 and 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue persists, please contact Apple Support.

    In the latest of several quite serious problems with my new iPhone 3G phone, I'm having trouble with the battery not re-charging.
    I plugged it into it's supplied power-point charger overnight and next morning... no charge. The phone was on at the time and the power point works perfectly. It's the phone that's crap.

    i remember one time my battery indicator was showing that it wasn't receiving any charge after a full night's charge, but after restoring the phone, the battery indicator started working. it sounds ridiculous , i know. but you can see if that does anything. on the other hand, it could just be a defective battery.

    Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
    Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

    Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
    Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
    Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
    (If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
    Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?

When I got my 5s I was hoping I could get rid of them, but you can't. They don't want people's music to disappear and then want it back. It is frustrating, but they feel they are helping people.

  • IPhone 4 won't sync to iTunes on iMac

    Recently my iPhone 4 won't sync with iTunes on my iMac. When I connect my iPhone iTunes recognizes it and I'm able to click the sync button. It goes the the sync steps, but at the end it says it can't sync becasue my iPhone is not connected to iTunes even though it is.
    My iPhone, iMac and iTunes have the latest software updates.  I'm running OS X 10.6.8.
    I've tried rebooting both my iPhone and iMac, but it still doesn't work.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

    I'm only asking this because I just got my phone unlocked, and the service provider suggested that I restore my iPhone by syncing it with Itunes.......but maybe I don't have to restore my phone?  Anyone with advice/suggestions?

    My iPhone 5 won't turn on at all and then when I plug it into a power source either into a plug socket or into my laptop with the USB cable it keeps showing start up screen with apple logo over and over again on a loop.
    I have tried holding the top and front button together, this didn't work. I have also tried connecting to my laptop and following the reboot steps that I found on another discussion forum. Neither worked for me. The phone just won't reboot and it keeps continuing to loop the apple logo screen over and over without me touching anything.
    The iPhone won't even connect to itunes and so itunes seems to not recognise my phone because its not even turning on (just continually apple logo screen appears for 5 seconds, goes to black screen and then repeats).
    I don't know what is happening to it! Can anyone help? Is it a fault with the hardware or have I dont something to it? The next appointment at the genius bar for me is monday so I'm going to keep looking for any more recent ones until then but I really need to get it sorted before then so if anyone can help that would be great!

    Try a reset when your iPhone is plugged into the charger as you say it does not respond when not plugged in...
    Press and hold the Home and On/Off buttons simultaneously until you see the Apple logo, then release.  This may take up to 10 seconds.  This is the equivalent of a re-boot and you will not lose any data.
    See if it will charge after this.

    If you did buy a 3rd party product, that could be a reason. Can you check with an original Apple USB cable?

    Then you need to explain exactly what is happening? What have you done to try and troubleshoot the problem?
    Who is your carrier (and what country are you in)?  Where exactly did you get the phone? What changed? Has this phone ever worked on this carrier? Are you getting any error messages either on the phone or in iTunes?

    Thanks for your prompt reply, I'm afraid it hasn't helped. I don't see anything wrong in my device manager.
    I have also gone and updated every driver, especially the motherboard chipset and the Sata Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver.
    Unfortunately, this hasn't made any difference.
    Any other suggestions?
