Don't Get Rid of CS6

I have just discovered from this DVInfo thread, that Premiere Pro CC no longer comes with Encore, or any DVD/Blu-ray authoring software.  That’s a huge omission, and I have no idea what they could have been thinking in taking this step.  So if you used Premiere Pro CS6 and still need to provide clients or whoever with DVD or Blu-ray disk, hang on to your CS6 apps.
The reason I mention this here is Dynamic Link.  It is a huge (my word for today) benefit being able to right click an object and having the option to open it in Photoshop like a Smart Object.  Make your edits, Ctrl (Cmd) s and it updates in Encore.  But so long as you still have Premiere Pro and Photoshop CS6 installed, you still have that function.
I am afraid I don’t know a whole lot about Photoshop and video because I’ve always used Premiere Pro.

I spent some time making space on my 250Gb SSD while waiting for CC to go live.  I'd already got most things caching etc. to other drives (I have 14Tb over 11 drives), but with the aid of Windirstat - which is an excellent free download - I was able to find another 40Gb.  There's another 10 or so Gb of space to win back if I can make iTunes relocate some of its information, like device backups, but I have tried following the Googled instructions and it wouldn't take.
Anyway, I ended up with 90Gb free, which has dropped to 80Gb after installing the 12 CC apps I need.  I still have a few CS5 and CS6 apps, and will probably keep them, but I was still kind of shocked when I used Windirstat and found that Adobe apps are using 38Gb of my C drive:
Program files               18.6Gb
Program files (86)        9.9Gb
AppData/Roaming       9.4Gb
That's kind of scary.  Harm Millaard mentioned trimming 2Gb of extraneous files from his CC installations by deleting the Language and Legal folders, but they are barely a few Mb per folder, so it would take you ages to hunt them down, (unless you were brave enough to use a search and delete method (I just made myself shudder)

  • Can't get rid of CS6 extended offer even though I don't want it.

I wouldn't mind it all that much if I could just close the offer and use my "non extended CS6" but when I attempt to do that photoshop also closes. How can I get rid of this offer ?

Thanks to Gene who just answered David 202 I'm back on track. The licensing thing did the trick.

  • So, even though I'm a fully licensed CS6 user, I don't get all the  CS6 features?

I just found out members of Creative Cloud get many additional CS6 features that are unavailable to "the unwashed masses."  I simply find it frustrating that I'm a second class citizen even though I'm a fully licensed user of a $700 piece of software.  Sorry to rant, but this is getting ridiculous....

You seem to feel you're a premium customer because you've paid so much.  Unfortunately, that's no longer the case.
It stings to find out that people who pay even more than you do (much more in the long term) do get more in return, but that's today's reality.  Adobe plans to use the additional money (besides making executives richer) I'm sure to engineer even more amazing new features.  There are already a few coming out with Photoshop CC 14.0 in a week.
By the way, note the first A: on the following page...  Until July 31 you can get a single app Photoshop CC subscription for an introductory $9.99 per month if you pay for one year in advance.  That's a good enough deal that I'd suggest subscribing, then fall back to your existing Photoshop CS6 13.0 perpetual license after a year, assuming you don't see new features that light your fire to want to continue on at $19.99 / month.

  • FormsCentral provides an elegant solution. Please don't get rid of it.

As long as you are making some money off of it, why not keep it going? As time goes by more people may discover its advantages.

  • Getting rid of CS6 files so I can reinstall

I need to reinstall cs6 but the uninstaller files are corrupt. Applications manager is also corrupt. I've tried renaming the library preferences and application support files as old. I know the applications need to be reinstalled. Is it ok if I trash them?
I'm working on a Mac running 10.9.5 Maverick.

    I have a MAC running Maverick OS X 10.9.5
I have CS6 Design and Web Premium
The entire suite is corrupt and needs to be reinstalled from scratch. It started with Acrobat and progressed to all of the other applications in the suite.
I've tried uninstalling but there is no uninstall app in the application support folder
I've checked the Activity Monitor no adobe products are running
I've tried uninstalling each application separately it crashes "unexpectedly" quit
I've tried installing from disk the installer starts then just disappears
I've tried using the cleaner tool - It doesn't launch
I've backed up the utilities and renamed the library files as old
I need to trash the applications and reinstall from scratch.
Nothing from Adobe is working is there a key file or app missing?

ads on FireFox home page started a month or two ago...
some are very offensive (a gun pointing at me) and all are highly distracting/flashing things and such....

My version is current 18.0.1 as of a week or two ago..
and there were only 2 Extensions listed and both are disabled..

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

  • How do I get rid of the bottom thingie in panel (CS6)?

My panel is made up of an Html widget that covers the entire panel. It looks good in Configurator 3 but when I open it in PS CS6 (public beta) there is an unwanted area at the bottom of the panel that I'd like to get rid of.
    Any idea how?

By default, there is a status bar at the bottom. We don't disable the status bar and used the default. We will disable it in the next version. The enhancement bug is already logged for this. Thanks for your suggestion.

you have a ps cs4 license for mac and you have some way of finding your serial number.
if yes, download an install the installation file.  if you already have the installation file, what is its name and file extension?  (eg, if it's one file, it should be a dmg file.)
