Don't have appropriate permissions required to uninstall extension? (GuideGuide)

I'm receiving this message:
"you do not have the appropriate permissions required to perform this operation adobe site:forums.adobe.com"
When I try to uninstall the GuideGuide extension from extension manager.
The extension stopped working after they recently released a new update, so I went to update it, only to be told that I need to remove the old one in order to install the new one. Ok, fine. Then I go to remove it, and I get the above error! I definitely do have the permissions! I'm the administrator! Why doesn't the extension manager know that?
So, what do I need to do? Is there a way to manually remove the extension? I'm currently re-installing the extension manager in hopes that that works.
For others with a similar problem, they've been running windows and just need to 'run as admin', but for me, being on a mac... It seems it's an uncommon problem.
Thanks Adobe Community!
I'm running CS5 (or 5.1?)
-Julian

One thing you have to know: That you are administrator doesn't means that all applications you are running have administrative privilege automatically, no matter Windows or Mac. You have to explicitly tell OS (Windows or Mac) you want to run applications as admin. on Mac, sudo command should be used.
1. Run "/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app".
2. Input the following commnad then press "return" key.
sudo "/Applications/Adobe Extension Manager CS5/Adobe Extension Manager CS5.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Extension Manager CS5"
3. Input your admin password then press "return"key.
BTW, privilege escalation feature was introduced in CS5.5. So in CS5.5 and later, you don't have to run EM this way.

  • I get a message saying that I don't have appropriate permissions to install an extension

I get this message only on some extensions I try to install.  Others install just fine.  Other times I get a message saying that there was an internal error and that the extension won't be installed, even though the extension is for Dreamweaver CS4, which is what I'm using.  These are for both extensions that are free and ones I have paid for.  I am the admin on this workstation, so I can't understand why I get these messages, especially for the one about permissions. I am using a Dell PC with Vista Home Premium 32bit.

Most likely the VISTA UAC security settings are getting in your way.
To run a program as an administrator, follow these steps:
Right-click  the icon that you use to run the program, and then click Run as administrator.
When you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the administrator password, or click Continue.

    Hi,
If this is not a permission issue, then this rule can be corrupted. You can use MFCMAPI tool to delete it.

  • Extension Manage - Appropriate Permissions Required

I installed the trial version of the Master Collection, uninstalled it, then purchased a subscription to Adobe Cloud Service.  All my Dreamweaver extensions I bought and previously installed are still there, but when I try to remove or update them I get the following message:
You do not have the appropriate permissions required to perform this operation.  Contact your system administrator to obtain permission.  The extension will not be removed.
Well, I am the administrator and only have one account on my machine (Windows 7 x64).  I have even gone directly to the EXE file in the folder, right-clicked and chose "run as administrator" and still get the same error.  I have gone to properties on the app and changed it to run-as administrator for everyone and still the same error.
I have no idea what to do.  Any other ideas are VERY welcome.
    Thanks,
    Ben

    Hi Ben,
Sorry to hear of your difficulties. It is possible to convert trials to be included as part of your Creative Cloud Membership (not that it matters now).
Are you on a domain using an account governed by group policies or is this just a stand alone machine?
Which version of Windows 7 x64 are you using? Enterprise, Pro, Home, etc.
Permissions issues on the Windows can be difficult to fix.
Have you tried turning off/lowering UAC settings?
You might try reinstalling Dreamweaver CS6 in the Hidden Admin account for Windows. (unofficial recommendation, try at your own risk)

  • I get a message popup saying unable to update because I do not have system permissions required when trying to go to 3.6.13 on my IMac,but I am the system administrator.

I tried updating from 3.6.12 to 3.6.13 on my IMac and get a pop up window that says Unable to update because I do not have system permissions required to update. If I download the latest version and try to replace the existing version it says "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items." I called Apple and made sure I was the system administrator and I am. I made sure that the two other users did not have FireFox open and it still fails the same way.
Note: This problem resolved itself for some reason but I still want to thank everyone for their suggestions.

  • SBS 2011 VM and Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V host. After rebuilding the host image, no email is received, EMC states "You don't have sufficient permissions to view this data" when looking at organization config. Server config not shown on EMC.

    Hyper-V Host Server 2012 R2 x64 drive c:
All VMs, including SBS 2011 Standard x64 are on drive d:
I replaced my motherboard and defined a Marvell RAID 1 Mirror for my boot drive C:.  My drive D: containing all of my Hyper V machines remained untouched since the new MB had Intel Matrix Controller with RAID 5, as did the old MB.
Since the C: drives are a few bytes smaller after configured as a RAID 1, I was unable to restore drive C from the image copy, so I rebuilt a new Hyper-V Host identical as possible using Server 2012 R2 x64.  I had to redefine the Hyper-V machines on
the host, and the 1st time I brought it all (host and VMs) I had to reconfigure the NICs due to new MAC addresses, and verifying SBS 2011 DNS and DHCP for all physical and Hyper-V machines. Otherwise my Hyper-V SBS 2011 x(64) wasn't touched.
Now the SBS Exchange 2010 is not receiving mail.  In the Exchange Management Console clicking on the Organization config gives me a highlighted error "You don't have sufficient permissions to view this data".  The Server
Config is no longer on the EMC.  The Recipient Config looks fine.
Outlook 2013 x64 connects to the Exchange Server, but no new mail appeared.  There were just a few older messages that came in since the last time I opened Outlook.  My public DNS on GoDaddy was not changed.  I did not change sending mail
through my ISP Sonic.net.  The SBS internal DNS doesn't have an MX record, but I'm not sure it ever did since my GoDaddy public DNS has an MX record.
I tried restoring to an earlier Image Copy, but that made no difference.  I'm using the Windows Backup from SBS 2011 for my daily image copy backups.

  • Error in Powerpoint 2011: "You don't have the permissions necessary to perform the operation"

We have a user with a new iMac running 10.7.2 that is having some strange problems with Powerpoint 2012 and who knows how many other programs. The issue is whenever these programs try to write to the user's personal network folder, which we keep on a DFS share. The error message only pops up when the user tries to save over something that already has that file name on the share. So she is always able to make file.pptx, but any subsequent "save" commands result in this error message: "You don't have the permissions necessary to perform the operation." Then, all she can do is save the file as newfile.pptx.
This doesn't happen in Word or any other files in the office suite. I've tried this both when connecting to the DFS share, and when using SMB to connect directly to the folder on the server, with no change in results. I've not tried removing/reinstalling the Office suite, because it's only powerpoint. I believe it must be something to do with her account's permissions in Active Directory, but when she uses this domain account on a Windows computer, there are no problems at all, of course.
There's a mere 3 google hits on that bolded error message, leaving me with very little to go on. Has anyone run into this before?

    Hey,
I have Mac users using Office 2011 saving to CIFS shares having the exact same problem.
Like heiseheisepointed pointed out only Power Point seems to be affected. Word, Excel etc seem to work fine.
I have checked and reapplied the permissions to the share and it is not that, I believe it is something faulty in PowerPoint itself.
I also tried saving the files as ppt rather than pptx but you still get a permissions based error message.
Just wondering is eitherJeff or hbonath have any sucess in getting a fix for this?
    Cheers

  • Cannot move the items. You don't have appropriate permission to perform this operation.

Recently, I upgraded outlook from 2007 to 2010, but I got a problem that I cannot move any mails to personal folder and the error msg is "Cannot move the items. You don't have appropriate permission to perform this operation.".Even I create a new personal

    Thanks so much in advance.

I've experienced the same thing and was unable to find this key that Tony mentioned.  After searching numerous sites, i found this instruction set below and tried it and it worked.  Per my case, the key PstDisableGrow was set to 1 under ...\Software\Polices\...
instead.  I disabled it and bam, it worked.  Give this a try...
Your System Administrator has either enforced a group policy to prevent pst files growing in size or a registry key is present preventing the growth of pst files. One of the following
registry keys will be present based on your version of office (11.0 for Office 2003, 12.0 for Office 2007 and 14.0 for Office 2010). The example below is for Office 2010 (14.0):
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\PST  - DWord Value: 'PstDisableGrow', Value: 1
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\PST  - DWord Value: 'PstDisableGrow', Value: 1
    Best of luck!

  • Modify Calendar item gives "You don't have the permissions requied to send messages from this mailbox" .

     Situation:
-Customer has taken over an existing company.
-New users where created in the domain.
-Mail accounts where created and the .pst's imported.
    -Everything fine so far.
    Problem:
When a user tries to edit a calendar item created in the past the message "You don't have the permission required to send messages from this mailbox" appears. After that the item is changed in the users calendar who edited the item but not in the
other users calendar who where also invited.
Everything works fine when a new calendar item is generated.
    Cannot find anything on this.
    Please help!!

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that you create a new mailbox for a user and imported Calendar items to this mailbox by using PST file.
If that is the case, the calendar items which are imported should be created by other user. It is just imported in this mailbox. Please check whether the original mailbox which these calendar items created on is still existed in Exchange server or not. Then
check the calendar items in the original mailbox.
Additionally, if the original user is still existed in your AD or exchange server, please assign Send As permission for the new user to this mailbox to have a try.

    Hi,
Before this issue occurred, what did you perform in Outlook?
Based on the error message, it seems like a permission issue. Try to run Outlook as administrator, check if the issue persists.
Please also try to start Outlook in Safe Mode. Sometimes the 3rd-party add-ins will cause the Outlook startup issue, run Outlook in Safe Mode will disable these add-ins:
Press Win + R, type "outlook.exe /safe" in the blank box, press Enter.
If there is no issue starting Outlook in Safe Mode, consider to disable the suspicious add-ins from FILE -> Options -> Add-Ins.
