Don't have firefox, it says file, edit, view stuff like that

it does not have tweet bird, no firefox sign on top, but says file, edit, view

* In Firefox 3.6 versions on Windows and Firefox 4 on Windows and Linux it's possible to hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu of a toolbar.
* Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
* Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

Why does the fire fox page change, sometimes it is just an orange fire fox button on the top left that opens a panel with all the things listed in it and then it sometimes has a bar across the top that says File, Edit, View, History, bookmarks, tools, Help? I barely get used to using one type of set up and then it changes to the other without me doing anything??

  • The bar that says "File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, help" has disappeared and I would like it to appear all the time.

Near the top of the screen on the left side, the words "File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, help" does not appear consistently. Sometimes if I hit "alt" they will appear. I would like to keep those words to appear constantly. Let me know what I can do. Thanks

  • In the topmost Firefox menu with File,Edit,View,History,Bookmarks, I can not get the list of bookmarks to display as they did before. The Bookmarks menu does not open up into the list of bookmarks.

I am running Mac os 10.6.8 and Firefox 6.0.1 on a MacBook Pro and on a desktop Macintosh.
The large computer displays a list of bookmarks when you click on the uppermost Bookmarks menu.
The MacBook Pro displays the following when you click on the Bookmarks word in the top menu:
"Show all Bookmarks, Bookmark this Page, Bookmark all Tabs and an icon with a blue dot next to Bookmarks Toolbar with an arrow to the right and below that it says Unsorted Bookmarks.
There is no display of the list of bookmarks from which I can chose as I do on the larger desktop macintosh computer.
How can I get the list of bookmarks to show as a list when I click the Bookmarks menu?

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • The File/edit/view/history/tools/help bar and the Back/refresh/and home buttons that used to be on the top left of the screen are no longer there. I want them back

I don't know what I did, maybe download a more recent version of firefox, but I no longer have any of the file/edit/view/history/bookmarks/tools/help bar on upper left hand of the screen.
I also lost the BACK button the refresh or undo button and the home button.
where did they go and how do I get them back?
    Thanks
    Jim F

Aha! I found the "refresh" button at the end of the place where I enter the URL. don't know where "home" is yet, but my home page has mysteriously appeared in the tool bar above the URL.

  • My firefox toolbar disappeared and I can't do what the solutions say because I don't have a back arrow, file button, tool button, bookmark button, help button, or navagation bar, so how do I get my toolbar back?

How do I restore my firefox toolbar? It was my main toolbar. My other one is google. And then another site tried to install a toolbar that I did not want. When I unchecked to get rid of it, apparently I unchecked the firefox toolbar by accident. I don't know if that's what happened for sure, but I'm guessing that's what happened.

Right-click an empty area of the tab bar and check "Menu Bar".
Your bookmarks are accessible from the Bookmarks button on the navigation toolbar. It's the wide button on the right side of the address bar with a star to its left.
Your history is accessible from the History button under the ≡ Menu Button panel. You can right-click an empty area of the tab bar and choose Customize, then drag the History button onto the navigation toolbar if you like (that's the area with the Back/Forward buttons and the address bar).
