Don't know what install disks to buy for new computer

I bought a computer from ebay with not install disks thinking I would buy those seperately. The computer I bought is a iMac G5 machine model PowerMac 8.2, Cpu PowePC GF (3.0). It currently has OS X 10.4.11 Installed. I do not have adminstrator rights and the only way I know to get them is to reinstall the OS. So, I tried to do so with disks I had on hand for mac OS X 4.8 but I got a message saying these were not the correct disks for the computer. The problem is I don't know which ones are to buy them. If someone could help with this, or any other ways of getting the administrator password for this computer I would certainly appreciate. it.

Upgrade Tiger discs were not machine specific, so if you had Panther installed then you could upgrade to Tiger with a Tiger Upgrade disc. However, the Tiger Upgrade disc does not support Archive and Install or Erase and Install. They cannot be used to install Tiger on an erased drive. You must have Panther installed to use the upgrade disc. You would be much better off getting the Tiger retail package.
I say again that you want to avoid purchasing any OEM disc that claims to be a "universal" Tiger installer as these are usually machine specific. The Tiger upgrade disc has a black label with a large gray "X" and the word "Upgrade" is on the label.

You have an 24" Early 2008 iMac. It came with Mac OS X 10.5, and you would need the disk set for your specific model. It's possible that if you call Apple Support, they can still sell you a set, but that model of iMac is no longer supported by Apple so Support may not be able to help. If not, then you'll need to look to private sellers or companies that sell obsolete software.
You can also call the online Apple Store and purchase a retail copy of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

You should contact the department of studies at the school and ask what types of application that you might have to use. If there are Windows based ones, then you may have to consider installing Windows in your MBA or get a PC. This could have an influence on the amount of storage the MBA should have.

Adobe PDF Pack is an online service, so there's nothing to download. You just log on to https://cloud.acrobat.com using your Adobe ID and password. From there, you'll be able to create and combine PDF files, export PDF files to other formats, fill out and sign PDF forms, and send anonymous links to PDF files. You can also upload files and store them in your Acrobat.com storage.
The free trial that you mention is for the Acrobat desktop software, which is separate from your subscription. The free trial is valid for 30-days from the first time you start it; after those 30 days you need to license the software (by purchasing it).

If you enter the PIN incorrectly three times, you may need to enter a Personal Unlocking Key (PUK) to enable your SIM card again. Refer to the SIM card documentation or contact your carrier.
Note: Entering an incorrect PUK code too many times will result in the SIM becoming permanently locked. If this occurs, you will need to contact your carrier for a replacement SIM card.

Thanks for your help, but that didn't do any good either. I have been double clicking from the download files, double clicking on the "install adobe flash player", closing the anti virus, closing Safari, watching the install progress and clicking finish. It indicates that "flash player" is installed, but every time I try to view something requiring flash player, it tells me I must download it. It shows up in the "system preference" and from there I can make some changes, but it still won't let me view anything requiring "flash player". It does not show up in my apps like Adobe Reader does. The "disk" is your startup volume, which is usually called "Macintosh HD" (unless you changed it). Your iTunes media files (such as song files), and basically everything else, are stored on that volume (unless you changed it).
You should create some free space as soon as possible, because the system (OS) and applications use free space to write temporary files as part of normal operations. If there is very little free space available, your system may start to bog down and feel slow because it's not running efficiently.
You can empty whatever is currently in the Trash by doing a click-hold (or right-click) on the "waste basket" icon in the Dock, and selecting Empty Trash. A good place to look for files you may no longer need is your Downloads folder. There is usually a link to your Downloads folder in the sidebar of a Finder window. (The folder itself is located in your user home folder.)
You can see how much free space you currently have by selecting Macintosh HD on your Desktop (or in the sidebar of a Finder window), and selecting Get Info from the File menu. You can also right-click on it and select Get Info from the menu that comes up (or hit Cmd-I on keyboard). The Info window shows Capacity and Available for the volume. Available is the free space. It would be best to keep Available at least 10% of Capacity; getting it to 20% or more would be better.
If you can't free up enough free space by deleting things you do not need anymore, you should get an external hard drive and save some your files there. That's actually how I run my iMac; most of my user files are stored on external USB and FireWire drives.

Sounds like you may have a harddrive issue. You are probably going to need to get that changed out and then install the OS X again to get it going.

I went to Apple Chat and they lead me through a power down and start up with Recovery Disc Utility (Hold down Apple and R keys when powering up).
Then was instructed to run Disk Recovery and it showed HD was error free. Then a reboot started up fine to desktop and showed update to 10.9.2 had been installed. I am guessing the internet connection my have been interrupted during the install.
Apple Chat folks are awesome and a short wait too.
