Don't Know what's wrong ?

I have had my macbook pro for about 2 years right now, and I haven't had any major problems with it so far. I had some battery issues but that was because I updated to the new OS and it is not as bad anymore. I also had to get my sata cable replaced a few months ago because of the question mark issue. I had done it in December and it was at an apple store.
Today I was using my computer and all of a sudden my webpages wouldn't load while using chrome and my computer started to freeze up a little. So at first I thought it was just a wifi problem and went to the bathroom before reseting my router. After coming out from the bathroom I saw that my mac had a a grey screen so I restarted it, and reset the PRAM or whatveer it is with comand option P + R. After I did that my macbook screen went white and after a while the dreaded ? Mark Sign Came Back. So I restarted my computer and pressed command R or option R. Which sent me into a menu to Restore From time Machine, OSX reinstall , Internet Solution, and Disk Utility. So I just pressed Disk Utility and Verified and Repaired my disk and its said that "Macintosh HD was Ok". So I restarted my computer and It worked so I thought I had dodged a bullet. About an hour and half later the same exact thing happened. I was using basic webpages on google chrome, my computer froze, went to gray screen and then the question mark folder and I had to the command R thing again and then I ran the same disk utility method and It started to workagain. I am out of the country and there is no apple stores near me or authorized apple repair shops. Does anyone have any idea of what might be going wrong. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

The folder with a question mark at startup means that no bootable system could be found. There are several possible reasons for that. One is that your system is badly corrupt and needs to be reinstalled. This can also be accompanied by hard drive corruption that needs to be repaired by Disk Utility, or sometimes that can't be fixed or can't be detected by Disk Utility. Since Disk Utility says your disk is okay, you can try reinstalling Mac OS X right on top of the existing system. If that doesn't work, though, you should erase the hard drive with Disk Utility and reinstall from scratch.
Another possibility is that your hard drive is failing. All hard drives fail at some point, and sometimes this sort of behavior is the only warning you'll get. (Sometimes you get no warning at all.) Be sure to back up your data, and if the problem persists even after erasing, you may need to get the hard drive replaced.
Finally, you could have some other hardware problem causing the issue. If nothing else helps, get the machine checked out by Apple.

    I've tried doing that with no results. Same screen keeps showing. Maybe it'd be more helpful if I told you a bit more info.  My phone was randomly playing music, and the voice control would also suddenly start without me touching the phone.  Then I let the battery die and started to recharge when on the screen it indicated to plug into my computer/iTunes, I tried to restore but was getting an error message (can't remember what it said now). Battery died and now my current issue of the black screen with white apple.  I'd love to be able to restore my phone but now its not showing as a device on my iTunes. HELP! Any other suggestions?

    Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
    This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.

    Generally i found this thread because i've also got troubles with coax output my problem is in choppy sound with scratches and clipping in Windows 7, when i try to play Dolby Digital or DTS audio in movies or even test sounds from speaker control panel. In win xp all works fine - and in win7 only pcm stereo can normaly being output.
    I try with different drivers (official and from daniel) and nothing helps...
    yep...bios of my motherboard was configured to lower CPU ratio and voltage when idle (C1E option). I turn this option off and all works fine now)

    If the reset doesn't do it then it's possible that the backlight or another part of your screen has broken. Unfortunately it's not really user servicible. I'd make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out. If your device is still under warranty and they don't determine that the damage was the result of 'abuse or neglect' (their words) then it could be a free replacement.
    I'd just do a backup before you take it in, just in case.

  • OSx not recognized. Invalid node estructure error but Windows 7 partition works perfectly. All tests done but still don't know what is wrong

    I have an Imac Snow Leopard 10.6.3 1TB hard drive , it has a partition of 100gb for Windows 7 using Bootcamp (only for games)
    The computer was kind of slow one night. The next day it was so terrible slow that I decided to restart it, but it never showed OSX again. If I try to boot into single user mode it shows Windows Boot Manager. Even booting with alt only shows Bootcamp Windows. Is like OSX dissapeared.
    I tried Disk utility and it showed an "inlavid node structure" error, "Disk Utility cannot repair this disk"
    I also used Diskwarrior, the test was relatively fast and showed this at the end "Disk Warrior has successfully built a new directry for the disk. The new directory cannot replace the original because of disk Malfunction. Disk Malfunction is a failure of or damage to any mechanical component of the disk or any component connected to it"
    I also did a S.M.A.R.T. test from diskwarrior which turned out ok
    I used Apple Hardware test, (booting with D and the Applications DVD). It goes through several things, even logic board but when it reaches "testing in progress" almost at the end it gets stucked. I have tried the simple and complete test in many different ways, with mouse, without, everything disconnected, it doesnt matter,  clicking the "Stop Testing" button or using cmd+period (as instructed on screen) doesn't stop the test. The "Total Time Testing" field also stops counting. I have to force shut down with the power button every time.
    But here comes the most odd part of this story. The computer now almost always boots in the Windows 7 partition which works perfectly. I can chat, use viderocamera, save, delete, listen to music, watch videos, etc.... I even enter from Windows all my MAC Archives and backuped almost the 900Gb I had with no problem (great thing to use Bootcamp, never imagined it will be this useful).
    So my question is, WHATS WRONG? The hard drive? the logic board? the fan? I need to know in order to buy the replacement. I have no warranty anymore and would like to fix it myself.
    Please help me understand what is going on

    RESOLUTION:
    I erase the drive completely following the security measure "Zero Out Data" and then reformat the drive. According to what I read, by following the zero out data procedure, the computer checks the drive and isolates possible structural errors in the disk ( don´t know if it is true) I had everything already backup through Windows as explained originally.
    After I reformat the drive everything is working OK. I have done the tests again (Disk Utility and Disk Warrior) that showed the drive to be in perfect order. So probably the error was caused by lack of sufficient free space in the disk ( 30 highly fragmented GB for a 1TB computer) that made OS X incapable of handling new information and was deleting key elements (?) in short a fragmented and saturated disk. However still do not understand why most tests could not complete or showed info relating to structural damage and now the same tests are saying everything is OK...
    So if anyone goes through something similar, try erasing and formatting the drive, see how it goes.

    i don't know why it's all null. i assign something in the default constructor. it shouldn't be "null".

    ok for some reason my computer got rlly slow so i restored to a previous date by use of norton 360(the reason i did this is because other things worked ok but
    not very well and it was stil rlly slow)so after i restore i come to watch youtube and it says my current adobe flash player needs to be updated so i go update it then i go back to watch the video but the message stil says my flash player cant play the video, so i uninstall my flash player then reinstall it but it stil wont play the video so i say tht ill fix it later but when i go to play some flash games i cant play them either so i go to watch anime and i cant watch it either so norton somehow messed up my flash player when i restored it to a previous date and i dont know what it did or how it did it so could i pls get some help on this matter

    Hi, If you followed Norton's instructions, then you may want to ask them what needs to be done. You can Uninstall Flash Player and Install it again. Follow the instructions here.

  • I'm so confused I don't know what is wrong with my router

    I am clueless when it comes to this so any advice, please pretend like you're talking to a kindergartner. I have this WRT54GS router plus 3 computers. Two are desktops and they have a wireless adapter on them (also Linksys brand). One is a laptop with a built in wireless card. The main desktop is a dell, the other desktop is an emachines, and the laptop is a dell. All 3 are running winxp sp2. I got it all set up and all 3 seemed to be working fine and connected, both to one another and to the internet. Then I had to download a few windows updates on both the 2nd desktop and the laptop (first time going online for them) and when they rebooted they cannot link to the wireless connection. I tried all kinds of things. So I get on my main computer and neither of the other two are showing up. So I try fixing it and at one point it says to connect the computer to the router again (with the wire). So I do, and go through all the steps it tells me to go through, and now when I look at the available networks it says "wireless connection 2" instead of just wireless connection. And the other two still will not connect to the network. How do I get it back to how it was before-you know, when it was working. I am ready to uninstall everything and start all over but I can't really do that every day.

    thanks for the reply! I think I got it working so far. I ended up calling and I could barely understand the guy I got but we got it done and he was really very nice and patient with me. I had some settings wrong. On my laptop I had to redo the windows zero configuration thing every time I started it but it looks like that's a common issue. I tried disabling the dell software managing my wireless so hopefully that will work today. So far *crossing fingers* the other two are working normally still. I left my main computer hooked up to the router though. I know it said I could disconnect it but that's where I started running into problems so I just left it connected. Hopefully that's ok. It's a desktop and isn't going anywhere so it's not a problem having it hooked up.

    Hello and thank you for posting back.  What it sounds like is the cable that connects to the screen from the motherboard has either come loose or has a issue after the fall.
    To fix this it would have to be opened up and the connections checked.  If there is an issue with the cable then it would have to be replaced.  This will require either you opening up the system yourself and checking the connections and tha cable or sending it in for repair.

  • I Don't Know What Went Wrong

    Okay, so I got a new Toshiba laptop just under a month ago, and all has been fine until this evening when it started having problems.
    It installed a windows 8 update, and since then it keeps losing connection to my wireless internet or when it does have it, it's incredibly slow or doesn't connect to the page at all. Now I know this could be put down to my broadband, but right now i'm on the desktop and it's perfectly fine.
    I thought maybe it was to do with the update, so set it to system restore to before the update I'd done hours before, and now the system restore seems to be taking a very long time. Is this common with Windows 8 or more possibly because I haven't done a restore until now?
    Am very confused. Also, whilst my desktop is connected to the wireless (Speedtouch wireless box provided by my broadband provider) directly, we also have a netgear wireless adapter which we were never certain if it was important or not. Now normally when the desktop is on, the blue light on the adapter flashes, but right now it's not flashing at all. Does the adapter help with wireless signal and is it possible it needs replacing and is why the signal is not sending properly?

    EDIT: Okay, system restore has completed okay...then immediately installed the updates that i was undoing. *facepalm*
    Also my wireless network is not on the list of networks...So possibly it is my internet not sending a wireless signal. :/ Which again brings up the question about my netgear adapter. It doesn't flash when the desktop computer is on, and it still isn't now whilst i'm on the desktop.

    System Restore is one of the last things I'd try to resolve a problem. It writes files
    all over the disk. Do it enough times and you'll run out of space on the HD.
    In the meantime you can choose how windows installs updates by opening up
    Windows Update and Change Settings. I have mine set to check for updates
    but let me choose whether to download and install them. In other words I
    download, check and install the updates I want manually. It's possible you
    received an update for the driver and it installed automatically. I never allow
    Windows to update the drivers. As far as I know the drivers for these
    machines are propriatory.
    If you haven't done it yet now would probably be a good time to backup the
    files you have on the system to a cd, dvd, thumbdrive, etc.
    Since you've had the system for a month I'm guessing the first thing you did
    after powering up the machine for the first time was create restore disks.
    When trouble shooting a problem always do the simplest things first and only
    do one thing at a time. 
    Power reset the Netgear Wireless Adapter.
