Don't like ios7, can I change back to ios6?.

can I change back to ios6 from ios7?

Yes, if you buy a phone that is using iOS 6. You can't downgrade a phone that is using iOS 7.

There is a short period (about 5 days usually) where Apple keeps a signed version of the previous OS available (primarily for developers). During that period IF you have a valid .ipsw file on your computer (if you updated over-the-air this wouldn't work) then you could wipe your iPhone by putting it in DFU mode and update from the .ipsw file on your computer.
This won't work now. There is no approved means to roll back. You can use Google to find other means if you want to assume that risk.

OK, I downloaded the utility, but during the installation process I was advised to shut down Outlook, or restart it after installation. I immediately cancelled the installation. Obviously, this thing is going to muck about with Outlook. I don't want anything to be touching or looking at any of my installed program unless I tell it too AFTER I fully understand what it is doing and how to reverse the whole process in case it gets mucked up.
I looked for a manual or some sort of documentation on the configuration utility, but there does not seem to be any.
Anyone have a link to program documentation for
iPhone Configuration Utility 3.6.2  for Windows?
I find it incredilble that there does not seem to be a stand alone, plug the usb cable in, and make a back up (system image) of an iPhone. After all, the thing seems to be hand held computer. Why not have a simple back up utility? Even the newer phones only have, what, a few GB. Lots of images would fit on an outboard TB disk.
Then if every thing gets FUBAR, simply restore the phone the the last working image.
Does no one keep controled squential backups of iPhones and iPads like you should do with any other computer, workstation or laptop that is a serious business tool?
iTunes for back-up. Does and business seriously do that?
iCloud? I'd be fired if the boss caught me putting client contact information on 'the cloud' or anything outside my secured hard drives. (Unless we have a specific paid contract for services).
My company does not even allow wifi in the office. Security begins with a hard wired connection.
    sigh....

All we can say in this Apple forum is that downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.

  • HT4623 I updated my i phone and i pad to ios7, but do not like many of the features, especially the calendar.  How can I go back to ios6?

I have both an iphone and an ipad.  I foolishly updated both to ios7, but do not like many of the new features, particularly the calendar.
How can i go back to ios6 ??

You cannot go back to a previous iOS version.
State your dislikes to Apple regarding iOS 7 here:

That's just about all anyone can do...Apple only "listens" through the feedback process.

  • I have a G5 imac that is using Disk Warrior as the start up disk and can't change back.

I am using a G5 imac (OS 10.4.8 I think the last update is) and I was attempting to use Disk Warrior to recover a lost file. On my other Macs you made Disk Warrior the start up disk to use it, which I did here but I think that was a mistake. Now I can't change back to the regular start up disk.
I tried starting in safe mode but I think I'm getting kernel panic because it goes to a gray screen and tells me to restart.

I don't think Disk Warrior does file recovery. See:
    Basics of File Recovery
    Files in Trash
If you simply put files in the Trash you can restore them by opening the Trash (left-click on the Trash icon) and drag the files from the Trash to your Desktop or other desired location.  OS X also provides a short-cut to undo the last item moved to the Trash -press COMMAND-Z.
If you empty the Trash the files are gone. If a program does an immediate delete rather than moving files to the Trash, then the files are gone.  Recovery is possible but you must not allow any additional writes to the hard drive - shut it down. When files are deleted only the directory entries, not the files themselves, is modified. The space occupied by the files has been returned to the system as available for storage, but the files are still on the drive. Writing to the drive will then eventually overwrite the space once occupied by the deleted files in which case the files are lost permanently. Also if you save a file over an existing file of the same name, then the old file is overwritten and cannot be recovered.
    General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro.  Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.  Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk.  Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.

I accidentally deleted the download stack, but managed to get it back. How can I change back to stack view?

Right-click on the folder icon on the dock where you put it. Change it from 'Display As: Folder' to 'Display As: Stack'.
After that you'll be all set.

  • Can I change back from iCloud to MobileMe?

I bought the new iPhone 4S to replace my old iPhone 3G two months ago. I then learned that to sync with my Macbook, I had to upgrade it to Lion. Now my OFFICE for Mac no longer works. Ok, the kids can work around that. Today, I made the change over to iCloud and now my husband's calendar through Google doesn't sync with my iCal. I have had it with Apple! I'm not a computer person. I email, download photos from my camera and keep my contacts and calendar on it. Can I change back to MobileMe? If not, is there an app that will allow the two to sync? If no, is there a calendar app that will work on my iPhone and macbook and my husband's pc? Thanks for your help.

Your MobileMe account is stilll good until June 30 of this year but you can't sync now with MobileMe after upgrading to iCloud.
You can turn iCloud services off.
Go to iCloud.com and sign in.
In the next window click the circle with an x top right corner.
In the search field top left corner type in:  Turn off or change iCloud services
    Same with iOS devices.

  • I lost lots of apps after updating to ios7. Can I go back to ios6?

I lost lots of apps after updating to ios7. I hate the look of it and I think it is not as easy to use. Can I go back to ios6?

    Hi,
You cannot. It's not supported by Apple actually, so if you downgrade they cannot help you.
However, make sure that all your apps are not in a different page, so keep swiping to the left just in case they are hidden at a first glance.
You can use the App store app to download all your purchased items.

  • Changed from Unlimited to Premium, can't change back

Sorry, I see that this is a double post! My bad! Can't find a delete message option anywhere, unfortunately :\.   Hello, For the last I don't know how many years or months I have had a Spotify Unlimited subscription, costing me 4.99 per month. Recently I went on a weekend holiday, and for the duration of that weekend I wanted to be able to use Spotify on my smartphone. I upgraded to Premium, thinking: ok, Premium for the weekend, it'll cost me 5 extra, but it's worth it to me for now, and I'll go back to Unlimited when I get back home. So now that I was back home I wanted to change back to Unlimited, but I couldn't find a "downgrade" option anywhere. In another thread I read that I would have to cancel my subscription and that then the Unlimited option would be available again. So I did that: cancel my subscription. It has now ended, but I don't see an option for the Unlimited plan anywhere.  I don't feel treated in a way that's fair. If you had notified me beforehand that there wouldn't be a possibility to go back to my old subscription, I wouldn't have upgraded to Premium at all. Even an email telling me "sorry but the Unlimited subscription.. we can't afford to sell this any more, so you'll soon have to upgrade or cancel" would have been fine. But telling me I can't downgrade after I have upgraded.. well that's just pretty disappointing. In case I'm wrong: could you point me to a way to go back to my Unlimited subscription? And in case I'm right: could you let me know as well?

I joined the forum today just to ask a question like this. I want to know if I can upgrade to Premium and downgrade to Unlimited in case I don't need Premium features. I hope someone can answer that...
