Don't my clients deserve to see sharpened images?

I do quite a bit of portrait photography for clients, and the images are shown to my clients in a presentation either on my laptop or a large screen. Why can't I show my clients a sharpened image from within Lightroom 1.1? Sharpening is definitely visible on a large monitor, and with 1.0 the sharpening was visible in other views. Now with 1.1 the slideshow turns off sharpening! I can understand that turning on sharpening everywhere could have performance problems, but the whole point of a slideshow is to show images to people! Shouldn't they look their best?
The second most common usage for my photos is in my online gallery, and with the new Lightroom 1.1 sharpening the only way to see how the sharpened image is going to look online is to export and view the images in a separate program! Does that make any sense? I might as well just export the image into photoshop to sharpen.
Finally, when setting the sharpening parameters I realize you can see more of the sharpening effects at 100%, but at least in Photoshop one can see both the 100% view and the image at any magnification, which is really useful in determining how that image will look like both when viewed on the web and when printed.

Generating on-the-fly previews for slideshows is not unprecedented -- Aperture does this very thing. And it does take Aperture a good few moments to go through this process before it launches your slideshow.
Perhaps LR should have a feature to automatically generate temporary 1:1 previews for slideshows. Or to just generate 'standard previews' WITH sharpening (as of now, I can't tell the application of sharpness in the Develop module on 'standard previews', only on 1:1 previews zoomed out to 'fit') for slideshows.
Or just, in general, a feature to ALWAYS generate 1:1 previews.
Mixed bag... dunno what the best combo would be.

10.5.8 iCal clients can't see additional Wiki Calendars

We just implemented a company wide iCal Server solution on 10.6.3 server (although just updated to 10.6.4 with no difference).
Most of our clients are 10.5.8 (iCal 3.0.8 - 1287). We've setup about 4 or 5 wikis, each with calendars and setup each user's iCal with additional CalDAV accounts for each Wiki Calendar, with URLs in the form of
http://server.example.com:8008/principals/_uids_/wiki-<wikiname>/
Now, within each Wiki/Group Calendar account, there might be multiple calendars. It seems that 10.5.8 clients can only see events in ONE of these calendars, whereas 10.6.x clients can see everything! User credentials seem irrelevant, it's just down to the OS/iCal version.
At first, I thought it might just be the primary calendar (/calendars/_uids_/wiki-<wikiname>/calendar) as opposed to the secondary ones (/calendars/_uids_/wiki-<wikiname>/87263455-a895-dfg3-23456789). However, even that is not the case. I can't seem to find any pattern to dictate why some show and some don't.
Now these 10.5.8 users can create events in the calendar whose events they can't see, but then others can't see those events. I've dug around in /Library/CalendarServer but I can't seem to find anything about event level ACLs. Am I misunderstanding how this should work? Is this a limitation of 10.5.8 iCal? Is anyone else experiencing this?

I'll just add that when users view the calendars via the web, all events show up perfectly.

Client says can't see Flash images

Let me request your patience in advance - I don't have many

therefore difficult to pinpoint. Here goes.
We created an HTML website with some flash content and some
static jpeg images. My client's client says he cannot see the flash
images. All I know is...
-The client is on Win2000
-He uses a version of IE
-He does not get prompted to install ActiveX controls
-He says he does not see the image placeholders in place of
the Flash animnations
What do I need to ask this individual in order to pinpoint
the problem?
-what version of IE he's using and Flash player?
-does he have install Active X prompt deactivated?
-anything else?
-is there something with Win2000 that might affect what's
going on?
The person having difficulty is from a very large corporation
and no doubt has an IT dept. Any suggestions on going through
them???

Not other than parental oversight. On the computer you can implement Parental Controls on a separate user account that they would use. You can then block certain websites. But you cannot do that on the iPad.
You could change your iTunes account such that they cannot access it in order to buy or download apps.

* "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

After my '2 years' if I don't upgrade I deserve a discount - the reason for the service contract was to pay off the cost of the "free" phone. Especially since there was a hefty penalty for cancelling before the contract completes. So now I'm effectively overpaying, right? And I'm not looking for some snarky comment to go elsewhere, this is an INDUSTRY WIDE issue. EVERYONE who pays off their phone deserves the discount.

Well, all been discussed before but I don't think there is an "official" position on this, and there are various competing interpretations. I think the one you discuss is simply:
1) Pay for a two year contract, for which you get two years of service at a fixed price, like many other types of contract. (And in fact you will probably continue to get the same pricing afterwards, unlike many other types!). In this model, the ETF is a penalty for breaking the contract and not giving Verizon the promised two years of revenue. In theory, you could keep your existing phone, and sign a new two year contract (to keep the pricing) and still be hit with an ETF if you left
The other common view:
2) As above, but with a subsidized phone, some portion of the monthly fee is used to pay back the subsidy. Now the ETF is charged because you haven't paid the subsidy off fully.

Using spotlight, I was able to see where a document of folder was located. Now, I see a image of the document but have no idea where it is located. Is this a setting I change? I really don't need to see or open the docs and folders, I just need to locate

Using an older operating system, when I used spotlight for a serch I was able to see where the document or folder is located.
Now, I see an image thats nice, but I must open it it find out where it is stored. Perhaps this is a setting change?
I search not always to open, but just to see where like files are stored.

Ok sorry. Yes it doesn't anymore but I think you can right click on the entry in the SL search and select either Get Info or Open in Finder and then it will display the location of that file. I don't use spotlight as I think it is @^%$&. I use Easyfind.
Apple doesn't think the user needs to know the path of their files so they removed that feature of spotlight.

Netboot client doesn't see image in boot disk preference pane.

Hello all,
This is my first time building a netinstall server and I am running into some issues. The reason for me creating this server is that I have a bunch of xserves that don't have DVD-ROMS. Since apple has decided to use DVDs as their only media this makes installing 10.5 a bit of a pain for me.
Every method that has said to work has not worked for me so this is my final option to try and probably makes the most sense. So he is my scenario.
I have an intel xserve that I am using as my image server where I am trying to push any install to a G5 xserve.
I have created the image and have set up the netboot service and dhcp to use this image as the default.
I have connected a crossover cable between this server and the G5 server so that I am off of the corporate network.
I take a look at the start disk preference pane and I don't see the image that I created. According to what I have read, I should see an option with a green "download" arrow that shows that its a netinstall.
I am doing this install without much documentation since I wasn't able to find any solid documentation on the entire setup and installation process. Any help is appreciated. Sorry if I didn't provide enough information :-/

The NetBoot service is pretty straightforward... it's some of the other ones you'll probably have trouble with. In short (starting from a clean installed server):
1) Select the server in the left panel.
2) "Configure" NetBoot (Settings -> Services).
3) Save.
4) Select NetBoot in the left panel.
5) Enable a port (Settings -> General).
6) Select a volume to serve from.
7) Save.
8) Add any images you might have to <selected volume>/Library/NetBoot/NetBootSP0
9) Go to the images tab (hit the refresh button if necessary) and enable your images (if needed).
10) Save.
11) "Start NetBoot".

You have to explicitly share directories on external/secondary volumes.
Use the Server admin app to configure file sharing, and select which directory/directories on the second drive you want to share, then they'll be available to clients.
