Don't touch the touch

Earlier this week, i put my touch in my coat pocket, like I always do going to class, and walking from my room to the stairs, the music stopped, and when i pulled the player out of my pocket, it was showing the load screen.
It resumed playing from the same spot (/2 way through Jimmy Buffett's "Diamond as Big As the Ritz") when i first turned it on.
Thinking it was a random fluke, i put it back.
A few songs later it did the same thing. Reboot. Play from /2 way through "Diamond...".
The player has a few scoffs and scratches, i won't lie about that, but no major injuries. Is it possible that just from everyday use and those few bumps that i now have bad sectors on the hard dri've?
And like the Nomad JB I, does disk clean up fix that kind of stuff? I haven't had a real problem since i did the clean-up last night, but i haven't listened to those songs either.

harikari: Very hard to say whether you've done something that's damaged the player, or whether the player has developed a fault.
Disk cleanup doesn't fix all faults on the player, nor does it run some form of scandisk or defrag (both common myths). All it does is rebuild the file table, and reset the settings. It's worth a try though in case this relates to your issue.

  • Since last firefox update 7 Nov - enter web address - it 'goes to sleep' until I touch the touch pad

I enter a web address and for a couple of seconds the little circle by 'Firefox' spins with 'connecting' - and with 'transferring ...' at bottom left. Okay - fine so far. But then circle stops spinning and nothing happens until I just touch the touch-bar - then it continues. This has only been happening over the last couple of days. Touching the bar seems to wake laptop up.

  • Itunes don't see the touch

    hi!
first of all, excuse me for my poor english
i got an ipod touch 8gb (novembre 2007), powerbook 15"@1,3ghz, osx 10.5.2 and itunes 7.6.1 just reinstalled
this is my problem: since last week i can't use the touch because my itunes don't see it
the touch freezed sometimes, so i put it in recovery mode and rifilled it with the 1.1.4 firmware from itunes
after this, when i plug the ipod touch i got a message from itunes (i try to translate it from italian, i hope it's correct):
itunes can't connect to ipod because the pairing record is missing
the big trouble is that 1) i restart the ipod in recovery mode, 2) restore to 1.1.4, 3) the ipod restart working fine, 4) itunes repeat that it cannot connect to the ipod, 5) i try the step 1 and so on
yesterday and today i have reinstalled the whole os, itunes, and the things are unchanged, or not: now itunes NEVER see thei ipod, that stay in the recovery mode but isnt' restorable at ALL
lat week i plugged the touch stuck in the recovery mode to another mac, with an older itunes, and the touch works, but pugged to my mac itunes wont' see it, so back to the step 1...
i'm desperate, i buyed the ipod used just 3 weeks ago and i used it just 10 days...
i really hope someone out there will be able to help me!
    many thanks to all
    matteo (italy)

update: sice the ipod remains in the recovery mode i just restored the touch to 1.1.4 via itunes, the restore was done, the ipod restarts in therecovery mode again and now itunes tells me it can't connect to the ipod because it miss the pairing record. if i restart the ipod touch in the recovery mode, the whole thing repeats
i reinstalled itunes 7.6.1 just today
    any suggestion?
    thanks!

  • My macbook pro screen page jumps around without touching the touch pad

When I am on Mail or my Firefox Browser the screen keeps jumping forward, back or to another site without my touching the trackpad. (Macbook Pro 2014.  At first I thought it was the Firefox Browser, but it also happens on "mail" (verizon.com).  This instability of the screen has rendered my computer little better than useless.

  • U310 IdeaPad Touch :The Touch Screen Stopped Working. No Previous Posts Have Helped.

Drivers all show working properly. Not intermittent. Tried settings and no help. No response when touching screen at all. Can't calibrate. Bios has no update available. Nothing in manual under troubleshooting. Any quick fix suggestions have likely been tried, but open to all ideas.
If all else fails, and assuming the digitizer is bad, what does repair entail and any rough estimate?
Is there any recall? I see this issue on the forum a lot with not many folks getting it resolved.
    TIA!!

    hi c2nah777,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Have you tried booting the system in Recovery Mode (One Key Recovery), You're not going to Recover the system since your only going to check the touchscreen in that mode "Outside Windows"
See if the touhcscreen works there,
If Yes, I would suggest doing a factory Reset First Before jumping into a hardware Repair.
If No, Then I think you're correct with the digitizer.

  • Taking picture without having to touch the touch screen?

Hey, I was wondering if there is any way to take a picture without having to have to use the touchscreen like using the volume button or something.
I think they should add this feature in the new update because it's hard to take a picture when you dunno exactly where the button to take the picture is or you can't feel the button........ Not the greatest idea.
My idea would be either using the volume button or using the home button and to exit the camera mode you would double tap home instead. Would be a lot better for people who like taking close up pictures with their friends and family.

This may not be much help, but I noticed that if you push the onscreen button and hold your finger on it, it does not take a picture until you release it. You could then push it while looking at it, then frame your picture and release the button to take the picture. I agree a mechanical button such as one of the volume buttons would be fantastic for taking pictures.

  • Thank youbfor optimizing the touch input for scrolling on my HP Slate 500, why wont the others do the horizontal scrolling feature enables?

After testing all other available browsers the past month I have arrived at the conclusion that the Firefox browser is the only one that enables touch input for scrolling. Trying to navigate pages without this function using IE, Opera, Safari & Chrome is just tedious. I'm using the Slate as it was intended, business functions especially day to day charting for my patients in an online system.
The larger tabs for opening new searches & sites. If Microsoft plans on making W8 truly touch enabled they need to take note of what FF has done here. The touch input is limited on W7 but you've succeeded where others have failed.
3 cheers for FF! I couldn't do my job and document patient progress w/o your intuitive design. Brendan S. - Latham, NY
I guess the question is why are the others not developing these key features for Windows based slates...are they ignorant or is FF that much further ahead.

    public MainWindow()
    InitializeComponent();
private void Window_TouchMove(object sender, TouchEventArgs e)
    TouchPoint tp = e.TouchDevice.GetTouchPoint(this);
I got the TouchPoint while i touching the touch screen, and i want to get the size of the Touching point.
I tried tp.Size but is zero.
    Thank you.

If the Size is always 0 in a TouchUp event handler, your touch screen hardware may be the issue. Appearantly some touch screens report sizes in a non-standard way and then you cannot really get the size of the TouchPoint. Please refer to the following

  • I have a HP 6510 All in One printer Model # CQ761A. It does not respond to touching the screen

I have a HP 6510 All in One printer Model # CQ761A. Using Windows XP.
Power light is on and wireless light is on. When I touch the touch screen there is no response from the printer. The computer and network does not see the printer and power button will not power down the printer. I have to unplug the power from the printer to get it to turn off then on and start working. Works fine for a day or two then back to malfunctioning.

Try working through this support document. it walks through resetting the power module and testing it. It also includes a video which is very helpful.

If this does not resolve your issue post back so we can get it fixed for you.

  • ANN: The Touch now available

    Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to let you know about the release of my new Lightroom tool for Mac users - The Touch
The Touch is a new way for Mac users to work with Lightroom using either a trackpad or an iPad. At the heart of The Touch is its ability to allow you to develop your images without having look away from your work. A set of simple and intuitive gestures allow you to instantly grab the correct slider or puck and move it with precision without having to spend you time finding these elements on the user interface. Even if the slider in question isn't visible on the interface The Touch will scroll straight to it.
It really is a totally different experience to be able to develop your images while never taking your eyes off your work - I urge you to give it a go!
Additionally, The Touch also provides support for a whole host of other functions for navigation control, rating and flagging images, switching quickly from the Library to the Develop module, seeing your images in full screen, etc. It's quite possible to return from a shoot and do an initial edit using just The Touch.
You can see a demo video here:

You can find more information about The Touch on the Arctic Whiteness site:

I don't understand what's happening with my Music. All the songs that I purchased, that were previously on my phone, now show up with a Cloud next to them, but I can't play them. If I touch the Cloud, it turns into a red square, acts like it's downloading (which I can see happening in iTunes), but never downloads. The Cloud just stays there.
I've sync'd my phone, I've turned it to "show all music" in Settings, I've drag and dropped the songs/albums onto my phone again. I feel like I've tried everything I've seen recommended, but nothing works.
I've purchased a lot of music from iTunes. It should be there. What's going on?
P.S. Same thing happening with my purchased books. Ugh.

Once you successfully add you iTunes library to iTunes Match, you go to Settings>iTunes & App Store on your iOS device and turn on iTunes Match.  Your iTunes Match library will then appear on your iOS device.

I am trying to restore an older iPod Touch, but do not have the passcode.  I am getting an error message saying that I need to free up some space, but I cannot because I don't have the passcode and have never synced this device to my account.  Help..

If it is asking for the screen-lock passcode then:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
