Don't trust skype.

Yesterday they charged my credit card for automatic topups. I never signed up for automatic charges. having only purchased a single set of credits several months ago to evaluate their system. I've never used their --- service beyond the first day, and now they wont give my money back.

I would recommend not posting accusations on a public website which you could be called upon to substantiate.
My immediate concern is that your account may have been compromised or "hacked."  This most commonly occurs when an account password is guessed or "cracked" with a password cracker.  If you have not already done so, change your Skype account password as well as any payment method password immediately.
Then, as this is apparently a fraudulent purchase, report the matter to your payment method immediately.  If reported timely, most credit card issuers will not hold their accountholders liable for fraudulent purchases, and if they do, for only a small amount.
Report this also to Skype Customer Service.  Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service   As you know you intend to contact Customer Service, skip past Step 2 of the instruction when information is presented for you to review and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request.

Elaine

  • How can i ever trust Skype again?

Imagine going in to a store, ordering an item, paying for it, and then a week later they tell you sorry, we can't get the item, and no you cannot have your money back. Would you like to order another item?
Ok, my account was uncerimoniously suspended last week. No warning, no reason, just like that.
I lose my Skype-in number that i printed on my business cards, stationary, web site, etc. Skype politely tells me that oh, we're sorry too bad.
I lose my existing Skype credit, Oh well, we're sorry too bad.
Now I have a new skype account, so what assurances can Skype give me that my new account will not be suspended with no warning nor reason? Should I get a new Skype-in number and give it to all my contacts? Or will this nonsense happen again? Is there any human being who understands these things working at Skype?
I really need an answer, Mr Skype, because I cannot work with a carrier this way.  I need someone with even the tiniest bit of brains to understand that you just don't do this to customers. PLEASE!!!

I think the conclusion is you can't and I don't think Skype really cares. My account was hacked (about 3 months when the Russians found a loophole) They added a credit, then took the balance of the account. Skype in unsympathetic and will not take any responsibility.
I am not  alone, this happened to many, many accounts......
Don't put much money in your account and don't trust it is my advice.

  • I want to transfer my photos from iPhone to my macbook pro as I have done many times before but I pressed (don't trust instead of trust) accidentally and now can't access the photos at all on the computer.

My phone is an iPhone 4
computer is a macbook pro OS X 10.8.5
When I plugged in the phone it asked me to unlock the phone with my password which I did.
Then it asked if I trust the device and I accidentally pressed don't trust. On the computer ( iPhoto) it told me there were no photos on the phone)
I tried unmounting the phone and retrying but get 0 photos now when there are many new ones.

iOS 7 devices need iTunes 11.1 or newer to sync.  Depending upon your computer and the OS it is running, you may not be able to upgrade to iTunes 11.1 based on the requirements for iTunes 11.1.  What computer and OS are you running your iTunes on?  From the iTunes download pages I see the requiorements are:
    Macintosh System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core processor
OS X version 10.6.8 or later
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
    Windows System Requirements
PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor and 512MB of RAM
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store

    Hi Rebekah...
This problem seemed to have worked itself out... Somewhere amongst these solutions...
    1. Reinstall iTunes
    2. Restart computer
    3. Restart iDevice
It didn't at first, and I thought to myself... "Oh great, another problem which Apple doesn't acknowledge as existing", but don't worry. Give it a couple of restarts, and if all else fails... Create a new Windows Logon and try from there.
It just happens I was in the middle of reformatting my PC and resinstalling Windows 7, so it wasn't so much an issue when I wiped as it worked when I tried it on a fresh system.
    Hope something helps...

  • I don't trust DVD's

    Hi,
this post is not so much about how to use the software but since the people on this site are talking about making movies i thought i'd ask.so here goes...
what do people think about the future of keeping your valuable movies (ie home videos) on DVD. What are the alternatives? I'm worried about DVD's. I don't trust them enough to keep my family movies safe for years to come. I've actually been thinking about researching online storage?? or should I just be putting it all onto a large external drive (which arn't that dear these days)..
Are you people thinking about the safety of the storage media??
what to do? all advice appreciated.

Use iMovie 06 with iDVD 08 and make DVDs. I also like Taiyo Yuden DVDs.
A DVD is by far the most reliable back up that exists today.
According to the National Institute of Standards and Technology
"There is a consensus that, under recommended storage conditions, CD-R, DVD-R, and DVD+R discs should have a life expectancy of 100 to 200 years or more"
    http://www.itl.nist.gov/iad/894.05/docs/CDandDVDCareandHandlingGuide.pdf
Taiyo Yuden DVDs have a 100-year data integrity guarantee.
(I'll be there with my receipt in 99 years!)
I have found DVD+R to be more reliable than DVD-R. The only disadvantage to DVD+R is that DVD players manufacture before 2003 may not play them.
DVD+R disks are better than DVD-R disks because of the increased error correction technique used for the +R type.
    http://www.cdfreaks.com/reviews/Why-DVDRW-is-superior-to-DVD-RW
This may be the best media if money is no object.

  • HT5868 i accidentally hit don't trust and no matter what i do it will never ask me again

I accidentally hit don't trust when i connected to my mac and know it won't ever give me the option to select trust again.  What should I do??

Ok, this just happened to me and none of the above seemed to work. But, I have found a solution that worked for me:
go to settings > general > reset > then click 'reset all settings' (only click if you happy to reset all settings)
Obviously, this will reset all your settings but not lose content.
My iphone 5S was attached to the computer and itunes throughout this process .... it will power down, restart and you will notice the sync icon start to whirr!
Obviously once redone you will have to reset security thumb/passcode - but your sync should now be working!!!

  • HT5868 Windows XP Trust/Don't Trust

Everytime I connect my iPhone to my Windows XP laptop, I'm asked if I want to trust/not trust my computer.  I select "trust" everytime, but only half the time does my device show up on my laptop.  The other half, the device is recognized.
I had understood that once the laptop was trusted, it would be trusted indefinitely.  However, the phone prompts me every single time I plug it into the USB port.  It doesn't matter if the laptop trusted it on the last instance or not.
    Anybody having a similar problem?

    Hello andogigi,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information, take a look at:
    iOS: 'Trust This Computer' alert
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5868?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Note: If you select Trust, the computer will be trusted indefinitely. If you select Don't Trust, you will be asked if you want to trust that computer each time you connect your device to that computer.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • HT5868 I accidentally selected [don't trust]

I acidentally selected [don't trust] but I want to change that and it's not prompting me anymore to selct [trust] or [don't trust].  Is there another way to change it?
    Thanks,
    Lee

    According to Apple:
"If you select Don't Trust, you will be asked if you want to trust that computer each time you connect your device to that computer."
Are you using a Passcode? If so, try unlocking the phone before connecting to your computer.

  • HT5868 Accidentally pressed "Don't Trust"

I accidentally clicked don't trust and now it keeps asking every time. Is there a way to stop this so that it may trust the computer "indefinitely"?

Reset all settings should cure that. Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings. All your preferences and settings are reset including those for apps. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected. You will be asked all the questions you have answered about using location services again etc. Data like high scores etc will be lost but it will let you use the computer again

  • Accidentally pressed don't trust my computer

Connected my iPod to my computer. Message came up to trust or don't trust the computer and I accidentally hit don't trust. Now the computer doesn't recognize the phone and vice versa.  What do I do

I'm also getting this message sporadically since upgrading my iPhone5 to iOS7, when I have it connected using the Apple cable to my PC running Windows 8. still getting the same error whatever I trust or dont trust when I connect to my pc its popping up. its really annoying n no one can help about this. so we all have the same problem.

  • I don't trust iCloud

Apple is making it harder and harder to not use iCloud. I don't want all photos and all contacts and everything to be on all of my iThings. Plus, just the name is silly. It's not a cloud, it's a server somewhere. I don't know where it is and I don't know who is in charge of it. I don't trust it.
    <Re-Titled By Host>

Of course it is a server somewhere (actually several), that's basically what cloud computing is. If you don't wish to use it, turn it off. Of course, if you do not wish to use "a server somewhere" you can also skip email, surfing the web, Netflix, and just about any app update available.

  • Warning! Don't trust the Cloud!

Not only did Apple prove to me today that their "cloud" is completely unreliable, but they lost days of work that I did in Pages.  I'm writing a book. I'm currently traveling and did some revisions on my iPad and added a few pages.  I had not even closed Pages, only shut the lid on my iPad for about 45 minutes.  When I opened it again to resume writing, it opened a window that said my documents were out of synch.  It showed two documents with the same name, one from a few hours ago and one from 45 minutes ago.  I had no idea why it would be thusly confused but figured the later one was the obvious choice so I picked it. It also gave me the choice to save both, but I didn't think that was necessary (why? since the 45 minute one should have been what I was just working on). It didnt let me review the documents. What did it do when I touched OK? It substituted a previous version from months ago, THAT HAD BEEN SAVED WITH A DIFFERENT NAME.   So much work was lost.  Even if I had saved both that it showed, I suspect that neither contained my recent additions.
What else can I say?  Don't trust the cloud.  Backup every few minutes.

Follow-up:  So I pulled up my one backup, a pdf version I had saved the day before.  After spending hours going through and correcting all the formatting line by line and getting about halfway through re-writing close to what I had written beyond that, the same warning popped up (on my Mac this time) saying that two documents from different devices were out of synch.  Tellingly, one of those documents, it said this time, was from my iPhone.  I don't even have Pages on my iPhone!  Of course, this time I saved both.  And, you guessed it, the "ghost" document from my iPhone was the version that was lost from the previous day.   That was great, but unfortunately after I had wasted more hours recovering from my backup.  This just further emphasizes how screwed up Apple's cloud is - maybe it's just with Pages, but either way, be careful and expect this craziness.
If I'm missing someting, someone please let me know.

I'm having the same problem... So far doesn't seem to be any fix for it.
People will try and tell you "Apple say just reconnect the device" but if that was the case, well... we wouldn't be here would we lol.

When I connected my phone to my computer I accidentally clicked "don't trust" and now I can't change the setting to allow my phone to "trust" my computer even though it has trusted it before I downloaded the new update. What do I need to do to be able to connect my phone to my computer again?
