  • HT4597 Can I just choose which apps or photos to sync via iCloud since I don't want all of them in all my devices?  I have all photos & apps in my iMac but only sync manually some of them to my iPad and to my iPhone. Can I still do this with iCloud?

I have 3 Apple devices - iMac, iPhone, and iPad.  I am planning to move to iCloud from MobileMe.  In iTunes, I just choose to sync whatever files I want my iPhone and iPad to have since they don't have sufficient disk space as my iMac.

Calendars, emails, contacts, are fine since files are small.  What I'm afraid of are the apps and photos.
    Any reply will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

With the exception of photo stream, iCloud doesn't sync your apps or photos between devices. You will continue to sync this content via iTunes in the same way as you do now.
Photo stream allows you to sync your most recent photos between all devices, you have the option to use photostream or not.

Sorry, I don't understand this - you don't want Adobe [Reader] not to open when doing what?  On what operating system?

  • HT4927 Are there ways to only upload certain photos from my iphoto backup? It is really big and I don't want all the photos on my new computer.

There is a way to find and recover individual photos from a Time Machine backup.
1 - dowload and launch  Find Any File.
2 - select the Time Machine hard drive in FAF's Find Items menu.
3 - enter the full file name of the photo you want to recover into FAF and use the Find button.
NOTE: it will take a while for FAF to retrieve and display the results of the search due to the nature of how TM makes its backups. 30 seconds or so is normal.
4 - select the file in the Masters folder and use the Space bar to verify it's the one you want with Quickview.
5 - drag the file from the FAF window to your Desktop.
6 - repeat for each photo you need to restore.

  • I accidentally hit "download all" in iTunes. I don't want all that music on my phone. How do I stop it?

Please help. Don't want all these songs on my iPhone. Accidentally hit "download all" on iTunes. How do I stop it!!??

Once it finishes, you can go back into iTunes and unselect sync music, resync the phone and it will remove the music. You can then select certain tracks or playlists if you want. You also have the choice to manually manage music. See the User Guide http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf

They are not in the cloud unless you put them there. Did you? Have you configured Photostream?

  • Don't want iPhoto to Open and other questions

Whenever I connect my camera to the usb cable iPhoto opens up and I don't want it to... it takes forever as I have over 5000 pictures and I get the spinning rainbow wheel..
So, any suggestions as to how to have iPhoto ONLY open when I want to open it?
any suggestions as to how to speed it up short of deleting pictures?
Can iPhoto 5.0.4 be upgraded to a newer version by a quick download or do I have to purchase all the upgrades?

    Bijoux
    1. Go to Image Capture in your Applications Folder. Use the Preferences to that app to decide what happens when you connect a camera.
    2. Some possibilities: More RAM, you don't say how much you have.
Try Rebuild the library: Hold down the Command and Option keys, and open iPhoto
Also, how big is your HD, and how much free space on it?
iPhoto 6 saw a big improvement in speed over v5. Though, again, this will depend on your Hardware.
    3. Updates (i.e. bug fixes etc) such as from 5.0 to 5.0.1 are free but Upgrades (new features) such as from v5 to v6 require that your purchase the iLife Package. They cannot be downloaded.

  • I can't stop the App Store from opening on my MAC Air when turning it on.  It didn't use to do this and I have no idea what I did, but I don't want it to open without me asking it to.  Help please.

I must have done something that I'm not aware of.  Every time I turn on my Mac Air the App Store opens.  I don't want that, obviously.  It's not in my login apps (I checked in system preferences), and it's not in my dock and when I put it in my dock it didnt' show "open at login", and I never choose to resume my programs when shutting down.
I am running the latest OS (10.8.4).
So, there has to be something else that I'm missing.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, when you are going to turn off or restart your Mac, you will see a box called "Reopen windows when logging back in" in the shutdown or restart window. Untick this box and see if the App Store opens automatically in the next startup.
If it starts, open System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Items, and see if the App Store shows up. If so, remove it from this list

  • How do I copy just 1 album from my iMac to my iPad mini? I already have many albums there, but do NOT want to sync. don't want All of my pix there.

how do I add just 1 more album to my iPad mini from my iMac (10.8)?

You still have to sync the photos. Just select the photo albums that you want to sync to the iPad. You can include as many albums as you want and remove whichever ones you don't want to sync.
Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
Select the folder from which you want to sync your photos - usually iPhoto on a Mac
Click on all of the albums that you want to include in the sync
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
Any albums that you don't include in the sync preferences will be removed when you sync. So if you want to keep the albums that are already on the iPad, make sure that stay selected to sync.
If you are running iTunes 11 and do not see the sidebar and the iPad name under the devices heading - go to View>Show Sidebar from the menu at the top.

  • HT5278 How do i even possibly do this?! I don't want all my stuff gone!

I want to update all my stuff on the iOS 5.1.1 software update, and i don't want to loose all my stuff in the process, how do i not

Connect your iPod to your computer.  iTunes launches.  Under devices, click your iPod.  Verify the "Backup to this computer" is checked.  Synch your iPod.  After the synch is finished, click "Check for update."  Download and install the update.  Synch your iPod.  All your stuff is there, right where you left it...

  • Don't want iPhoto to open automatically when camera is attached

How can I get iPhoto to quit opening when I have a camera attached to the computer. I don't use this program for editing photos, not do I download photos to it and so don't want it to take five minutes to open every time I connect my camera or iPhone.

    Open iPhoto.
Go to iPhoto > Preferences > General > "Connecting camera opens:" and choose "No application".
If you don't see that option then perhaps you are not using iPhoto '09. Go the the iPhoto menu > About iPhoto and check the version. Should be 8.1.2.

  • Don't want all my music on my new iPad.

I don't want my new iPad to upload, (in iTunes,) my complete music library. I only want it to do the folders I want. I have it set to manual, but it still put all my music that is in MUSIC on it. Thanks for your help in advance!

Have you considered using the Sync Only Checked Songs and Videos in the Summary Tab of iTunes? You can choose the only the albums that you want to sync in the Music Tab of iTunes.

  • I don't want all these versions! Do I have to go through 3500 photos to delete?

I'm doing all the reading online and in my manual but I'm so confused by this.  I just did the import from iPhoto 11 and referenced my pictures (though I'm thinking I might consolidate so they just are all in Aperture).  Anyway, obviously Aperture is showing me masters and versions of the pics I played with in iPhoto..but how do I get rid of (clean up) ALL the versions from my library that I don't want?  For example, pics that I had rotated in iPhoto, or slightly cropped....basically I don't want to click on an event in my Aperture library and see 'unrotated' pics etc....I just want to see the final clean copies..not the masters too..does this make sense?  Do I have to go through my 3000+ pictures and do it manually?  Am I missing something?
    Help?
    thanks

I hadn't done a conversion from iPhoto11 so I did some experimenting for my own edification.  I can't go into detail right now, but I urge you NOT to delete any files with the keywords "iPhoto Original" or "iPhoto converted" until you dig deeper.
Quickly, what I found is that only the ones I did actual adjustments on brought over two images.  Images that were simply rotated, had "quick fixes" or "Effects" did not bring in two images.  More importantly, among the ones with adjustments that did bring in two images, the ones with the keyword  "iPhoto Edited" appear to be nothing more than iPhoto's 6MB JPEG Previews.  The master was a 25MB RAW image.
I did this quick and dirty so maybe I'm missing something, but my results give me pause.  Maybe someone who's dug deeper will chime in.
(Oh hidden images come in as rejected so they are there but not showing.)

I have several songs on my computer that I don't want on my iPod as they're songs my wife listens to. How can I select which ones I want when I sync?

    Do it in computer iTunes.
Make a playlist in iTunes, drag and drop songs you like into playlist
Plug your iPod Touch into computer.
In iTunes select your iPod Touch (left panel), select Music tab (top right).
Check Sync Music, choose Selected playlists, artists, album....
On the left select your playlist then sync (bottom right).
