Don't Want Bookmarks to Open

Is there a way to open Safari from my iphone without getting the bookmarks menu first?

Hi Swarnava,
Thanks for your help so far!
How do I identify the version or Firefox, please? It won't open via the shortcut or clicking Open in All Programs. When I right click the logo in All Programs and click on Properties, the 3 tabs there don't tell me the version of Firefox.
I'm using Windows XP.
Since I can't open my version of Firefox I don't see a Bookmarks or other Firefox tabs to follow the directions at backing up/recovering Bookmarks in the bottom of the article you kindly referred me to.
When I copy %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ into Search and get to my profile there are Bookmarks and Bookmarks Backup files. I get an error message when I try to open them.

Sorry, I don't understand this - you don't want Adobe [Reader] not to open when doing what?  On what operating system?

  • I can't stop the App Store from opening on my MAC Air when turning it on.  It didn't use to do this and I have no idea what I did, but I don't want it to open without me asking it to.  Help please.

I must have done something that I'm not aware of.  Every time I turn on my Mac Air the App Store opens.  I don't want that, obviously.  It's not in my login apps (I checked in system preferences), and it's not in my dock and when I put it in my dock it didnt' show "open at login", and I never choose to resume my programs when shutting down.
I am running the latest OS (10.8.4).
So, there has to be something else that I'm missing.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, when you are going to turn off or restart your Mac, you will see a box called "Reopen windows when logging back in" in the shutdown or restart window. Untick this box and see if the App Store opens automatically in the next startup.
If it starts, open System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Items, and see if the App Store shows up. If so, remove it from this list

  • Don't want iPhoto to open automatically when camera is attached

How can I get iPhoto to quit opening when I have a camera attached to the computer. I don't use this program for editing photos, not do I download photos to it and so don't want it to take five minutes to open every time I connect my camera or iPhone.

    Open iPhoto.
Go to iPhoto > Preferences > General > "Connecting camera opens:" and choose "No application".
If you don't see that option then perhaps you are not using iPhoto '09. Go the the iPhoto menu > About iPhoto and check the version. Should be 8.1.2.

  • Don't want iPhoto to Open and other questions

Whenever I connect my camera to the usb cable iPhoto opens up and I don't want it to... it takes forever as I have over 5000 pictures and I get the spinning rainbow wheel..
So, any suggestions as to how to have iPhoto ONLY open when I want to open it?
any suggestions as to how to speed it up short of deleting pictures?
Can iPhoto 5.0.4 be upgraded to a newer version by a quick download or do I have to purchase all the upgrades?

    1. Go to Image Capture in your Applications Folder. Use the Preferences to that app to decide what happens when you connect a camera.
    2. Some possibilities: More RAM, you don't say how much you have.
Try Rebuild the library: Hold down the Command and Option keys, and open iPhoto
Also, how big is your HD, and how much free space on it?
iPhoto 6 saw a big improvement in speed over v5. Though, again, this will depend on your Hardware.
    3. Updates (i.e. bug fixes etc) such as from 5.0 to 5.0.1 are free but Upgrades (new features) such as from v5 to v6 require that your purchase the iLife Package. They cannot be downloaded.

  • I don't want links to open in a new tab or window.

On any website with links (especially reddit), EVERY time I click a link, it opens in a new tab or window.
    I do not wan't this.
I just want the link to open in the same tab I'm using.

    Hello,
    Please see the articles:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.link.open_newwindow
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction
You can check your '''about:config''' page to see if maybe an extension or something modified those preferences.
In order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps:
    # In the [[Location bar autocomplete|Location bar]], type '''about:config''' and press '''Enter'''. The about:config "''This might void your warranty!''" warning page may appear.
    # Click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''' to continue to the about:config page.

  • Don't want DW6 to open new documents in Full Screen? How can I do this?

I have read a few posts and there doesn't seem to be an answer yet. Thought I'd bring this to the forefront and see if anything new has been discovered.
When I open my first html document it always opens in Full Screen, which is huge (wide), covering everything else on my desktop (which I use in conjuction with DW). I have to find the tiny little bottom lower right corner (usually close to and almost hidden by the Dock) and drag the window to a workable size. Obviously a new html page is never the width of the full wide screen, so why does DW assume this is a workable size? We all use the Abode products because they work together with each other, which are usually open and working on your desktop as well. Someone at Adobe didn't think this out!

No Nancy, everything opens just fine, the issue is the document window opens up full-screen behind everything (all my panels are there on top). The window is obviously upworkable until I scale it to fit in the rest of my viewable space. An html page is centered in this wide-screen upon opening, effectively being partially covered with tabs and panels. The outside space that the full screen window takes up is nothing but a solid color, covering useful space where I want to see my panels, some desktop for other apps if I wish etc. So effectively I have to resize the full screen window down, to the edges of the "workable" html designated space, which is all I need to see. Not 8" of a blank, useless window on each side, covering everything else.  I would assume most of us web designers are using and viewing other apps, windows etc. on their desktop at the same time. If nothing else you can't even work on the html page until you resize it i order to see the panels which cover it. In PS for instance once you size a document window the program remembers the size on your screen and position where it opened last.

  • I don't want PDF files openning in Firefox, I want them to open in Adobe Reader

Both old PDF files that I have saved and new PDF files I have made and downloaded are openning in Firefox. Some people my like that but I don't, please tell me how to shut this off.

    Hello Osprey,
If you are using Windows, you have to right-click a .pdf file, then click on "open with", here you can choose with which program the PDF files will be automatically opened.
Another solution is to go in your control panel, then in "Default Programs", you'll be able to do the same. You can refer to [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-default-programs#1TC=windows-7 this article] .

  • Don't want QuickTime to open .tif files in IE

How do I stop QuickTime from trying to open .tif files for me in Internet Explorer? My company has a web site where I can look at engineering drawings in .tif format. I used to be able to left-click on a link and have a window open that gave options to open the file, download it, etc. But after installing QuickTime on my computer, when I left-click on a link, QuickTime automatically jumps in and opens the drawing in the IE window. That wouldn't be so bad, except that I can only view the first page! Can anyone help me?

  • Don't want IPhoto to open when I plug in camera

Where can I set Iphoto to NOT auto launch when I plug in USB camera? I would rather just preview first and then import the few I want to save. Yes, I can just quit Iphoto but that's dumb.

Open the Image Capture application in the Applications folder and turn off the option to have iPhoto open when a camera is connected in Image Capture's preferences.

  • Don't want downloaded photos opening at all

I know how to change the default app to open downloaded files.
How do I NOT have them open at all?  I'm trying to download a whole gallery of photos and it keeps interrupting to open the files in preview.  I just want them saved to my downloads folder.
    thanks

This is from Safari, I guess? Safari -> Preferences -> General. Uncheck the "Open safe files" option at the bottom of the list.

  • I don't want "Mail" to open when I respond to website, instead I want Earthlink mail to send the response

Hi, newbie here.  I do not use Apple "Mail" (nor do I want to).  Problem: in websites I respond/click to respond and "Mail" automatically opens up.  How do I configure the MacBook Pro 10.7 to not go to the default of "Mail?"  I have looked at mail preferences and it gives me the option of "mail" in the general section or choose; when I hit choose I get my apps etc and do not see how I would indicate to use my earthlink email or charter email as defaults.  Any suggestions?

You can't select Web Based email for this purpose. You have to chose a email prgram on your computer.
What you would need to do is copy the email address and then go to youe Web Based email and send from that.

You can. Go to System Preferences / Users and Groups.

    There select Automatic login: yourself.
Close this pane, and restart to test.
