Don't want split screen on Internet

WHen I open up tje Internet through safari, a split screen comes up. The screen on the left says "shared links" . The message in the screen says "no shared links". The top of the screen has 3 icons: a book, glasses and @ sign icons.
The bottom lower right is 'Subscriptioms"
THe right side is my internet page.e
how do I get rid of the split screen when I open the Internet?

Tap the solid blue book at the very top to toggle the side bookmark column off. Tap it again to show the side column. It will change from solid blue to clear depending on if the side column is open or closed.

I am thinking about getting an iPhone, and am just fine with not being able to use the internet every where. I would rather look for a wi-fi hotspot than pay $20 for edge. Is there any way I can keep the iPhone from using edge and not have to pay?

Other features of the phone also use Edge (mail, stocks, weather, but more importantly, visual voice mail) Because of that, it is not just internet usage, but other services going over Edge. So you have to pay for it.
Now after 1 month you can opt to take it off though you will be resonsible for any usage of it (thus every voice mail you get).
Get an iPod Touch if you don't want a service fee.

Firefox 5.0 on windows 7 freezes frequently. Please fix soon this problem because i don't want to migrate to internet explorer.

I have firefox on my desktop together with Internet Explorer and Chrome. My favourite browser is (of course) Firefox. Today i upgraded from firefox 4.0 to 5.0. Since then Firefox has frozen a lot. I think I'd better return to 4.0 unless you fix the problem soon.

I have the same problem. It freezes often and it takes something like 30 seconds or more to start working again (stops being frozen and in most cases works fine without a restart but it's extremely irritating!)

Call Display Picture Always Full Screen (I don't want that)

There are a few discussions about this, but they all seem to be over 4 years old, and I still have the problem. (Please read the whole explanation, as I've tried several fixes already)
I am extremelly picky with my computer and phone "stuff". Ever since I've owned my iPhone I've made it a point to add a picture to every contact I have.
Early in my iPhone ownership I realized that if you add a picture directly from your iPhone (wether is taking it directly from the iPhone cam while adding the contact or choosing from the library) such picture shows FULL screen when I call that person or when that person calls me. If I simply open Address Book in my Mac and "drag" a picture (say for instance from Facebook) into the picture section of that contact and then synch, then when I make or receive a call from that person it shows small and I still see my wallpaper on the background.
Well THAT's what I want (just like in the Appple commercials), I DON'T want the full screen picture.
Now here's THE PROBLEM;
For some reason NOW, I STILL add pictures the SAME WAY (I go into Facebook, and drag the picture into Address Book) but when I make or receive a call from that person the display picture ALWAYS shows full screen!! It's annoying the heck out of me!!
The ONLY thing different is that now my contact are synched thru iCloud as opposed to synching using a USB cable in iTunes, HOWEVER, SOME contacts show how they are supposed to show (even adding them thru iCloud), but MOST others don't! I feel I should add that ALL contacts I had BEFORE I strated synching with iCloud still show fine, the ones that have a problem are MOST (but not all) of the ones I added AFTER I started synching thru iCloud. And the fact that a few worked fine leads me to believe there's got to be a way of making them all show small.
Anyone has any idea of how to keep them ALL the same?

OK, that's interesting. Now, how do I get all of my contact photos into iPhoto? And do I have to do this one contact at a time, or is there a setting where I can "import all". Furthermore, once all photos are in iPhoto and I select "Import Face from iPhoto" can I do such actions for all contacts at once or do I have to do them one at a time?

All you can do is to restore and thus erase the iPod unless you can get a data recovery company to preserve the data.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

A good read. Have you done anything at all to resolve your problem. Reset? Restore?

I made my apple id today on my ipad 2 ios 6 update and i went straight to logging in on iMessage, i logged in, after reading i clicked next, i got the email to verify on my ipod so i verified but as it was still verifying on the ipad it went right back to the log in box. this repeated itself over and over, help?

My iPod's screen says "Connect to iTunes" and when I connect it to iTunes it's telling me to restore, but I don't want to restore/lose everything on it. The "Connect to iTunes" message won't go away.

When I plugged my iPod into my macbook, a window for an iPod Touch software update popped up, so I clicked update, then it said that my iPod was over capacity or something similar to that, so basically I didn't have enough room for the update, which I thought was fine. So then once I unplugged my iPod, I was unable to use it. The screen was telling me to connect to iTunes (how it does when you first purchase an iPod, and turn it on for the first time.) So, I then connected it to iTunes and it told me I had to restore my iPod, it gave me no option other than to click "restore" But I don't want to lose everything that's on my iPod...but now I can't use it because the screen is still telling me to connect to itunes. How do I get out of restoring it?

If you have a graphic of iTunes and a cable displayed on your iDevice then it is in Recovery mode.

-Your device needs both the CR and LF. To accomplish this:
option 1: Concatenate the "end of line" string constant (this is a combination of CR and LF, located in the string pallete) to all your outgoing commands. Make sure in the "Visa configure serial port" the "Termination character enable" flag is false.
option 2: Concatenate only a CR to your command's strings. Make sure in the "Visa configure serial port" the "Termination character enable" flag is TRUE AND that the termination character is set to 10 (meaning LF) which I think is the default.

Interesting would be to configure the serial port to accept not one but two termination characters. The above links refers to the document "Developer Zone Tutorial: Termination Characters in NI-VISA.", where this is supposed to be possible. The document however is 404'ed.

Thanks for the help. Now I can feel comfortable in not having to sign up for cellular when I buy, esp. Since I'll be using my new IPad mostly at home on my Cox wi fi. Then I can see, in using the i pad, how often I'd actually use the cellular, and where. This can help decide which type of cell plan I get. Small problem it may seem, but a very helpful answer. Thanks.
