Don`t work Start menu and Modern UI application
Hello, I updated my system to windows 10 and i run into a problem with all Modern UI application. Start menu button don`t respond to pressing, Modern UI application hand at sturtup. Can i somehow fix it?
Mine just died too. I was uninstalled a program, it stalled at the end, I rebooted, tried to finish uninstalling it, it stalled, I rebooted, multiple attempts to boot into windows 10 (blank screen with mouse), reboot, repair startup: failed, revert to previous
restore point from this morning: failed, reboot, booted into Windows 10 just fine. Now my start menu doesn't ever launch and the modern apps are broken. It's hard to get around without a start menu to launch programs or things.
I also have KB3034229 installed---it automatically installed on 1/24.

Howdy,
I installed Windows 10 Technical Preview with original language settings for the US region.
No that I need my Windows localized to Espanol - Spanish.
I type "language' in Cortana, select Add language to this device and click Add a language on the Region & language.
Then I select added language and click Set as primary.
After the restart I see that while Windows Explorer is displayed in Spanish, Start menu is displayed in English (including app sections such as Explore Windows), as well as Modern apps that have retained their English names (such as Mail).
I even set the location to Spain in regional settings (although I didn't like the idea, as I want to browse the US market). To no avail.
How do I change the language of the Start menu and modern apps?

What I did:
1. Downloaded and attached Espanol edition of Windows Setup ISO.
2. Started setup.exe from that ISO.
TIP: If need be, you can downgrade your installation of Windows 10 Enterprise Technical Preview to Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview by changing two registry values, EditionID and ProductName. You may use the following registry file on Windows 10 Enterprise

Sometimes I cannot bring up iTunes when I click on the icon. Have even gone to the START Menu and clicked on that icon but it still wont work. The only way I can fix it.....sometimes.....is if I reboot. Please help me 8-) Thanks

I keep getting the start menu and various programmes opening when I use a series of keys when working in my accounting programme, I am not using the command key and is very frustrating, can anyone help me? I am working on a Mac OS X Version 10.6.8, just need to know if I can reprogram the keys to stop this happening?

after downloading the latest version of firefox, when trying to open it I recieved the message, "Firefox is in offline mode. cannot browse web. Uncheck the work offline menu and try again". Have tried several times to open with same results. Have even uninstalled firefox and reinstalled latest version and still get meassage after trying to open.
thank you - that does make sense except i have another computer that connects to the internet in the same way but it doesnt happen on that one. i didnt change anything - it just started a couple of weeks ago after i updated firefox to 11.0. cant find any settings in firefox to alter either - thanks for the help

Thanks for any help.Those are instructions for Windows. The equivalent action is to go to the Apple menu (left end of Menu Bar at the top of the screen) and select System Preferences.
However, that may not help with your problem, because the steps after "1" will be different on a Mac (for whatever it's telling you do to for Windows). It may help if you explained the actual problem "with the software on Canon digital camera." -

Ho comprato un adattatore originale Apple "lighitning to 30 pin adapter" per poter usare i mei vecchi cavi dell'iPhone4 con il nuovo iPhone5.
Se collego l'adattatore (con il vecchio cavo delliPhone4) direttamente all'iPhone5 , tutto funziona.
Ma se collego l'adattatore (con il vecchio cavo delliPhone4) all'iPhone5 tramite la "base dock" , l'adattatore non viene riconosciuto e non funziona.
Pensando che l'adattatore fosse rotto, ho riprovato con altri identici adattatori originali, ma il risultatato è lo stesso.
Quindi penso che potrebbe essere un errore di progettazione della base dock che supporta unicamente la connessione diretta tramite un cavo lighning e non supporta la connessione se in mezzo c'è l'adattatore !! -
QuickTime appends itself to start menu and shows recent files
Everytime I play a movie Quicktime adds itself to my start menu, and shows recent movies when the mouse is dragged over the icon (despite that I have chosen not to save recent movies in my preferences). Any suggestions to stop this? Thank you.

This issue is related to the programs package we installed.
• An installation package contains all of the information that the Windows Installer requires to install or uninstall an application or product and to run the setup user interface.
• The developer can specify installation context, and based on these properties, Windows Installer automatically redirects the values of folder properties and registrations to locations.
• The shortcut is added to the profile by these context
We could right click these file and could find out they are the shortcut mentioned above.

I get lots of spinning wheels on start up and when changing applications. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long. -
[SOLVED] Spacing between start menu and tray icons lost
Hi,
I am using KDEmod + Arch
After todays upgrade, spacing between start menu at the left and tray icons at the right lost making the tray icons align to the left side of the tray. An X mark in a red box appeared in between on mouse hover, shows the message that : Unable to load the widget, could not find the requested component: stasks.

You're using the stasks plasma widget, which likely just needs to be recompiled for kde 4.3.3, as it was just upgraded from 4.3.2 in Arch's Extra repository and I imagine the same applies to KDEMod.
pacman -Q | grep stask will likely show you what the stasks plasma widget is called.
If it's a kdemod package or returns nothing (meaning stasks is in some other plasma applet package, perhaps kdemod-plasma-applets or something.. pacman -Q | grep plasm would show all such packages with 'plasma' in the name), you'll need to recompile it with ABS or just post on the KDEMod forum and wait for them to update it. If you haven't rebooted since upgrading, there's sometimes something out of my ability to explain which causes KDE stuff not to show up / work properly even after running 'kbuildsycoca4' or 'kbuildsycoca' or killing and restarting kdm until said reboot.
The two stasks plasmoids I see in the arch user repository are "stasks-manager-plasmoid" (which you're likely using) and "plasma-stasks-patched-plasmoid-hg". If pacman -Q | grep stask shows one of those, simply recompile it via yaourt -S name_of_the_widget, and you should be good to go on logout/in or reboot or what have you.
Short:
Run in konsole: pacman -Q | grep stask
If it shows something with "kdemod" in the name or returns nothing, you should probably post a bug report with the KDEMod/Chakra guys at chakra-project.org (bug tracker is currently down, use the forums). If it shows "stasks-manager-plasmoid" or "plasma-stasks-patched-plasmoid-hg", recompile it via yaourt -S name_of_the_package and log out/in (or reboot if necessary.. it shouldn't be though).

I can't use the search function in both the Start Menu and Windows Explorer.
This problem occurred yesterday when I uninstalled a program on my computer. Once the program was uninstalled, everything was fine until I tried to search for a file in my start menu search bar. When I attempt to search for something, nothing comes up. Not
even a single document or piece of text. Nothing.
In other posts I've seen addressing the same issue that I'm having, people try to search something and a selection of files come up, like "Programs", "Documents", etc., except for me, it's all blank.
In other threads people have suggested to delete certain subdirectories in regedit, but when I go into regedit, and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
folder, there is no FolderTypes folder for me to delete. It's simply not there.
I've pretty much tried every possible resolution under the sun, apart from completely re-installing Windows 7. Please help me fix this issue, because at this point I'm
lost.Yes, sometimes, we can solve this issue by editing the registry entry you mentioned above, I have a suggestion, do you have a similar system or PC which is working fine? You can export this registry entry from that PC (which i sworking fine), then
import it to your problematic PC, please remember that incorrect change in registry will cause serious damage, so backup the registry first before editing.
After finishing editing the registry, restart PC. If doesn't work, open control panel\Indexing Options\Advanced, rebuild the index.

ITunes 10.4 Command Controls Don't Work, File Menu Greyed Out
The "improvements" in 10.4 version of iTunes are, uh, not. Among many other challenges iTunes now randomly decides that its file functions and the attendant command + (key) don't work. You get the "error" noise and the commands are actually greyed out under the "File" dropdown. FAIL. This, in addition to the "upgrade" that makes it necessary to hit "option" to see the nested playlist icon make this one of the worst iTunes updates in a long, long time. Don't think us out of what we're doing, please. I know it's free, but it's also not free (my Apple bills are staggering).
Formerly reliable commands like Command + L (go to current song) or Command N (new playlist) and even Command I (track info) are now hit and miss. If anybody has a solution (other than "you don't really want those features") I'd love to hear it. Or an explanation for how/why an entire series of commands becomes unavailable for no apparent reason. In the meantime I'm investigating alternatives (and I'm a long-term iTunes stalwart). Lame.
In the above screenshot, prior to writing this email (and part of the inspiration for it was that) "go to current song" was also greyed out. Of course I was writing this email and not changing anything but a few seconds ago Control "L" didn't do anything & that item was greyed out. So what happened? What changed? What's wrong? Your guess will hopefully be better than mine...While I'm at it, the new/improved iTunes also periodically and for no apparent reason will not allow me to edit smart playlists (or create new ones). I hit Command "I" on a smart playlist and I get the "be-donk" that says "no love." Also greyed out in File menu along with almost everything else (see above). The feature returns after the passage of time but no noticeable conditions have changed - unless I'm missing something really obvious which is why I'm crying out for help...

Had a problem yesterday and Google chrome replaced Firefox as my default browser without my knowledge. I removed Chrome from my system and can use Firefox. I have two icons for Firefox on my quick launch toolbar one says Beta6 the other Beta9 but both launch Beta 9 but my Add/Remove programs shows only Beta6 and will not remove it. It seems Beta9 is the only version on my system but was not updated in my Start menu.
If you updated from the beta 6 version to the beta 9 version then the beta 9 version has replaced the previous beta version. It can happen that the uninstall registry key of older versions isn't updated or removed and that seems to have happened in your case. So you have only the beta 9 version installed and an orphaned entry to uninstall the beta 6 version.
If you are comfortable in editing the registry then you can remove that entry.Otherwise it is better to leave it.<br />

Firefox 21 does not show start menu and taskbar sub-links of new tab,private window
Firefox does not show start menu icon 's submenu containing links to new tab,new window and new private window.Same happens with taskbar pinned shortcut. It does not show the above three options when I right click on it. I have installed Firefox stable,beta,aurora and nightly at the same time.All the four use different profiles.I have this setup since Firefox 12.There was no problem before v21.I tried reinstalling all the four.Resetting the stable version profile.The options do appear in othe ruser accounts.I want this option for stable version only.I think these are not available for testing versions.I tried all the suggestions in this thread:
