¿Don't you think that the Development Module in LR5 it's slower?
Hi;
Before state my question; I'm running on Intel i7 QUAD CORE @ 2.80 GHz (8 logical CPUs) and 16GB of memory,
I feel that the Development Module in LR5 it is performing a lot slower that LR4. And the new CLONE TOOL sometimes freezes when you select a large area.

I'm having trouble with the develop module in LR5.4. Any adjustments are taking effect, but only viewable in the filmstrip, not on the main photo. The navigator will go grey, as does the main area too. This applies to all edits done in develop module. I have posted several times on the forum with no responses to address this, and have seen others with the same issue. I have even gone as far as to do a complete re-install of LR5, with no success. I'm at a loss, and I depend on it for so much editing. Please help.

Can anyone help me understand why the Develop module on my 2nd laptop is disabled and asking me to renew membership to reactive. I have a standalone LR5 which I purchased in December 2014 on the Windows platform. My 2nd laptop is in a different location to my home laptop and is in my holiday home where I would like to work on my photos when I am away from home.
thanks for replying. I purchased online from Adobe and they sent a confirmation email with order number and serial no along with the instructions for downloading. There was no indication at purchase that renewing membership was needed at any time and it's only 3 months since purchase. I have just returned home from my holiday home and checked my home laptop (primary and first installation) and all modules still enabled !! As far as I understand I am able to install twice as long as not operating both at once. This would be impossible as holiday home with laptop no 2 is 60 miles away. When I installed on no 2, i opened the order email and was able to use the serial no again. Now however it is greyed out. I don't want the cloud version and hope this is not what I have.
UPDATE 1 April 2015- I have checked the system info in Lightroom on my first laptop installation (home) and it is definitely a perpetual licence. I downloaded what I thought was my 2nd allowed download on my holiday home laptop using the original email instructions and serial number. I checked the system info on this download and it was it is a cloud version!!!! This doesn't make sense - anyone out there - can I download to 2 laptops in 2 different locations with a perpetual licence?? -
Lost all changes made in the develop module in lr5
I have lost all changes that I made in the develop module. Most of these photos where stacked with the raw copy on top of the jpeg. Then I had picked the ones I liked and make changes to them in the develop module.Then I and changed them to DNG. This was over two weeks ago and I think I was trying to put them in to a collection. Now all I see is the originals as they appeared on the day they where imported.
Yes, it seems like you have two catalogs and imported into both.
I suggest strongly you view some video tutorials on AdobeTV before you get into a tangle.

Don"t you think that the enhanced for-loop was meant
to be used with Collections and Enumerations?
For arrays, use the standard for-loop as of old:

MigsThe obvious or not so obvious first. Depending on your knowledge. When you open a tiff, jpg, or camera' raw format they can be opened in Adobe Camera raw first which has identicle controls to lightroom's develop module.
Starting with I beleive CS5 maybe 4, some of the tools made their way into photoshop it self. Take a look at the camera lens filter, the Image>Adjustment menu or the adjustment layers which now support vibrance for example. -

-3I received two email replies (BriPhoto & Rob Cole) to my above post, which are now missing here. I only mentioned Auto WB because of this statement in your PDF posted here Shared Cat:
"Apply auto WB and Auto tone to an unmodified photo and note the changes.
Apply auto WB and tone to another photo with very different exposure and tone and note changes to confirm that changes are different and do depend on the content of the photo being operated on (assumption)."
You are now saying:
"However, in this case we are talking about the SAME raw file, imported from the camera's CF card twice. One is imported with no preset, then the Auto Tone preset applied, the other is imported with the Auto Tone preset set in the import module. Both files have the SAME WB setting (As Shot) and the same Temp and Tint, as you would expect. The only differences (in LR) are in the tonal values."
I repeated Import of the two copies of your 14BD3913 CR2 file (14BD3913.CR2, 14BD3913-2.CR2) following the above procedure. The Tone values are identical for both using LR5.7 on my Windows 7 SP1 system. I cannot duplicate your issue as outlined above.
Is this the Auto Tone preset you are using on Import?
Two other things you can try:
1) Reset your LR Preferences file:

2) If that doesn't correct the issue I would try uninstalling LR5.7.1, delete the LR Preferences file, and then reinstall LR5.7.1 using a fresh download. -

i have lightroom 5 bought the download version on the adobe site. month ago did the trial version of cc it has expired. now on lightroom it says that my develop module is disabled. can't locate the one i bought on the site to redownload because they have changed the adobe site drastically.

My IPod no longer shuffles songs within playlists that are clearly set to shuffle. It is about 3/4 full so I thought of maybe compressing the files to get more space. Do you think that is the problem and if that might help?
Storage space on the iPod would not affect shuffled playlists or playlist shuffling, though substantially full iPods may wind up skipping songs on larger playlists after a while, and require a restart. As for compressing the files themselves, you can automatically re-encode files to a lower bitrate by checking the box on the summary page when your iPod is connected to your PC/Mac.
As for the shuffle problem, after restarting your iPod (hold the center button and Menu for a few seconds, until the Apple logo appears), make sure you're telling the iPod to shuffle the songs in a playlist by repeatedly clicking the center button until the Suffle Menu comes up, then scroll to the right to turn it on. From that song forward, the playlists' contents should be shuffled every time the playlist ends, or is accessed from a new song.
Shuffle does sometimes turn itself off, I've found, so double-check the setting is still on. Also, iPods shuffle by randomly assigning a playlist order for your songs, which is different from traditional shuffle (on, say, iTunes or Windows Media Player, where the new song is determined at random upon the current track ending. The iPod only chooses a random order of songs when you shuffle, to conserve battery life and queue up songs coming up on the playlist in the event of a shock). -
I have used lightroom for ~2 years and have lightroom 5.5 installed on a PC. Yesterday evening I uploaded a new set of photos which I cataloged and rated as usual. After that when I switched to the develop module trouble began. First thing was when using the crop tool the picture would disappear and only reappear once I closed the tool. Then exposure and White balance changes would change the histogram but not the appearance of the photo. Finally clipping was also not appearing on the picture. I first reuploaded the photos. No effect. Then I reinstalled lightroom. No effect. Help please!

What do you think of the new creative cloud cc that was just released? I'm using it now and I think it's great. It's cs6 on stereroids lol More new features that people who fully paid for cs6 should of had.
I do wish the cloud standard price changes to 29.99 a month for all users so everyone gets a chance to enjoy the cloud.I just downloaded CC, and still have all my CS6 apps as backup. Bridge CC (64-bit) is showing the same unacceptable performance I had with CS6 version. Can't believe that Adobe is so inept. I did fix the CS6 version but I forget how I did it. CS6 version of Bridge is near instantaneous. And it's not a matter of building the cache. It takes the program forever just to respond to a simple mouse click in the menu bar.
Photoshop CC crashed my machine, whereas CS6 version runs perfectly. Afraid to download any further apps.
Adobe 11 failed to install because it think's prior version of the that program is still on the computer. I never installed Acrobat 11 on this machine. Just Acrobat 10, which also got the stupid 30-day "refuse to start" bug, so I'm using Acrobat 9.5 which works flawlessly. Funny how the newer the code from Adobe, the worse it gets for its customers.

I have OSX 10.7.5 on my imac, my idvd is not working correctly. Should I re-download this version again , do you think that it will help to improve the idvd operation?
First, iDVD is not and never has been part of OS X. If iDVD is not working correctly, then you should investigate possible problems with that application, support files, preferences, or cache.
Of course you can always reinstall OS X if you wish:

Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless. -
