Which version of OSX are you running?
You need to have OSX Snow Leopard, Lion or Mountain Lion to access the Mac App Store.

  • No app store on my mac

I am using a Mac Book Pro. My version is 10.7.5, and I use Mac OS X, I have app store on my Mac Book but the image is not the real app store image, it is a pencil on a piece of paper. If I try to open App Store the screen just flashes then goes back to what ever I was on. This app is in my applications folder. Can I re- download App Store for Mac on the Apple store.

Open a Finder window and go to the Applications folder in the ROOT of the Macintosh HD. Look in there for App Store.App. The icon looks like this.
Do you see it in the Applications folder.

    Can I download it online?

    Nope.

Only upgrade to 10.7 or later if you are prepared:

hi i have problem with my mac os x10.5.8 i cant't download new upload ?and the problem is that i can't found my app store on my mac .any help plz

If you can... you need to Upgrade your OS X to 10.6.8
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
Snow Leopard Tech Specs  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard and iTunes.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...

  • If i have an app on my iphone that i got on iTunes using my same apple ID, will I be able to get it off of the App store from my Mac?

If i have an app on my iphone that i got on iTunes using my same apple ID, will I be able to get it off of the App store from my Mac?

Some developers have created both an  iOS and a Mac OS X version of their app, but you will need to buy each one separately from their respective app stores. Buying one version does not give you the other version for free, unless they are free apps.

If you do indeed have OS X 10.6.8 = Snow leopard then you should have the App Store.
    If not...
Go here  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1399 and Download and Install the Copmbo Update.
After the successful Install... Restart your Computer.

  • I'm not able to download the App Store with a software update. How can I get the App Store on my Mac?

I have some problems to get the App Store on my mac. Every time when I do a Software Update, there is no App Store to download.
How can I get the App Store on my Mac?
It's because I want to set OSX Lion on my MacbookPro.
    Thanks!

As you have 10.5.8 you need to upgrade to at least 10.6.6 to get the App Store as this was the 1st version it came with.
A workaround is to get a friend who has 10.6.6 or better to download Lion for you without installing it. You can create an App Store account on the friend's computer I think to do this. Copy the Lion installer from that computer to a USB stick or burn it to DVD and you should be able to install it on your own computer, I think. You might have to create an empty partition on your own computer first for Lion installation as I'm not sure that it will install over Leopard.

  • Message: "Waiting for App Store to download Mac OS X Server Add on"

Trying to install 10.7 (from 10.6.8) on Mac Mini server 4,1. I don't use it as a server, and don't know anything about that.I get a message "Waiting for App Store to download Mac OS X Server Add on" check download at App store. There is none. Help?
Mac Mini Server 4.1/2.66 GHz/Intel Core 2 Duo/8 GB Memory

Ran into this myself on a new MacMini Server. I renamed the ServerVersion.plist file in /System/Library/CoreServices/. That allowed the install to start. Unfortunately it seems the installer is setup to install that at the same time. I renamed the file back before the restart and it complained on restart that the server install wasn't found.
So I thought I would try downloading it on another computer with Lion. That didn't work either. As soon as it finished download it installed and deleted the installer.
    What a pain.
If you can start from scratch, you should be able to rename the file, do the Lion install then after the Lion install rename it back. Then do the server install. I'm not sure what that will do to existing server configs though. There must be some reason Apple set up the Lion installer this way.
Oh, now I can't reboot into my existing OS. It keeps rebooting into the installer. Tried the option key and both options are named something like base os. Neither boots my existing Snow Leopard. Gonna have to get an external DVD drive and install from scratch I think. Luckily this is a new server not in production, so not a big deal. I hope people with production machines read the boards and tread carefully.

  • How do I get an App store icon for Mac on my dashboard

how do I get an App store icon for Mac on my dashboard

Are you on 10.6.8 or Lion? It should have been placed there automatically during the install; otherwise, simply go to your Applications folder and drag the icon to the dock.
If you're not on one of those OS versions, post back with your version.

    Thank you for your advice.
Actually, I am aware that the upgrade is implemented in 10.6.7. However, up until now I haven't been able to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6.7, as I have software that is not yet compatible. So I wondered how to do it within 10.6.6? May be it is not possible? Anyway, this gave me a push to track the software I use for compatibility, and I found that an update for 10.6.7 now is ready for download, so then I will probably solve two issues at the same time. Takes a little work though. Thank you again for your advice.

  • What is meant by  waiting for app store to download mac os x server add on.

Can't get past that step to upgrade xserver from 10.6.8 to 10.7.  I am trying to upgrade my xserver 10.6.8 to 10.7.  I have purchased the os x lion and the lion server, and they are both downloaded on the machine, but it will not let me get past the step of waiting for app store to download mac os x server add on.  Anyone know what that is or where I can get it?  App store never starts a download. tia

  • Why isn't my app store on my mac working?

Every time I try and go into my app store on my mac to update my apps, it sits there loading before a box pops up and say "App store cannot verify a secure connection with the App store. Would you like to connect anyway?" I press continue and it just sits on a black screen and I can't do anything.
What can i do to fix it?

This procedure is complicated, but you probably won't have to do all of it.
Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried until the issue is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Check the status of the service. If it's down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
    Step 2
Check that the date (including the year) and time shown by your system clock are correct.
    Step 3
Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate.
    Step 4
If you connect to the Internet through an HTTPS or SOCKS proxy server, follow the instructions in this support article, or deselect the proxy entirely.
    Step 5
Boot in safe mode and test.
    Step 6
Make sure Parental Controls aren't active for your account.
    Step 7
Follow the instructions in this support article to change your DNS settings. If there's no change, revert the settings.
    Step 8
If possible, test on a different network, such as a public Wi-Fi hotspot or the cellular network of your phone.
    Step 9
Launch the Keychain Access application. In the Keychains list, there should be items named System and System Roots. If not, select
    File ▹ Add Keychain
from the menu bar and add the following items:
    /Library/Keychains/System.keychain
    /System/Library/Keychains/SystemRootCertificates.keychain
From the Category list in the lower left corner of the window, select Certificates. Look carefully at the list of certificates in the right side of the window. If any of them has a a blue-and-white plus sign or a red "X" in the icon, double-click it. An inspection window will open. Click the disclosure triangle labeled Trust to disclose the trust settings for the certificate. From the menu at the top, select
When using this certificate: Use System Defaults
Close the inspection window. You'll be prompted for your administrator password to update the settings. Revert all the certificates with non-default trust settings. Never again change any of those settings.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences... ▹ Certificates
There are three menus in the window. Change the selection in the top two to Best attempt, and in the bottom one to CRL.
Next, select the login keychain. Delete any expired or otherwise invalid certificates.
Log out, log back in, and test.
    Step 10
Launch the Activity Monitor application. Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar of the Activity Monitor window, if not already selected. Enter "ocspd" (without the quotes) in the "Filter" text field. Is a process with that name listed?
If not, back up all data, then triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    /var/db/crls
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
Move all the files in the folder that opens to the Trash. You’ll be prompted for your administrator password. Reboot, empty the Trash, and test.
    Step 11
If you've moved to a different country, select
    Store ▹ View My Account
from the App Store menu bar, then click
    Change Country or Region
    and update your billing information.
