    help

I believe it is due to copyright issues, but regardless, Apple does not make uploading from the ipod to your computer possible out of the box. There are freeware applications out there, like on Version Tracker, that will do this. The easiest solution to the question you posed is to simply import the desired CDs into your itunes library, then sync.
Secondly, this question is better suited to the ipod forum.
    Hope this helps,

help i tried to update my itunes last night and it wouldnt update now my itunes wont open it says theres an error so i have tried to download the new itunes and it still says error i dont want to lose what music i already have on my itunes

    You're using a Mac computer?
You are always at risk of losing your music.  If you are worried about it now too it means you don't have a backup.  Get one. Soon.

  • Need help bad. Installed new HD and I dont want to lose my music on ipod

Can someone please help I had a HD crash and had to install a new HD. but when I plug my ipod into my computer it is telling me I have to reformat. I have allot of songs I purchsed and I dont want to lose them.
Is there a way to transfer playlists and songs with out formatting?
    Please help
    Thank you

    Check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • I need to update my software but i dont want to lose all of my content. This is a new computer i am updating from and it doesnt have any of my content on it.

I went to the apple store and they told me that my version of Itunes on my Ipod touch is like 20 versions behind. My mom just bought a mac and I want to update my software but I dont want to lose all of my music, movies, shows, and pictures. I no longer have the computer that I used to put all of the content on my ipod so I am scared that if I do the update I will forever lose my content. Please tell me if I can update my software without it deleting my ipod. Thank you so much

    - If you have a 1G ipod you can't update past 3.1.3.  To identify yourd see:
    Identifying iPod models
    - Be aware that if you can/do update the iOS to the latest (4.2.1 for a 2G and 4.3.4 for a 3G) you may not be able to sync to the old computer since that computer will need the latest iTunes to see/sync with the update iPod.  Yo need an Max with at least OSX 10.5.8.
You can transfer iTunes purchases from the iPod to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
You can use on of the third-party programs dicussed here to transfer other stuff:
    new PC: Apple Support Communities
Unless you can move/copy the iPod backup file to the new computer you will loose all app data and restore from that backup. That file is located:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

  • Help?? new computer and new itunes. dont want to lose information

We have 2 iphones with Sprint service - which means no SIM card.  We just purchased a new computer.  I downloaded itunes to the new computer since it was not pre-installed.  I transfered the info from our old computer to the new one using an easy transfer cable.  Our music is now in the new itunes, though not all of the playlists transfered, which is no problem.  When I plug the iphone into the new computer, a message appears that all data will be erased from the phone if I continue.  I dont want to lose the contacts, apps, etc by going forward.  The music can be reselected so that is not an issue but the contacts and other info would be a nightmare if lost.  Sprint doesn't have SIM cards, so that isn't an option to save contacts.
It was also a nightmare having 2 iphones connecting to the same itunes, so I would like to have 1 iphone to the new computer and the other iphone to our laptop.  When I connect the iphone to the laptop, I get the same message.
Also, there were purchased music on both iphones - will I lose those purchases?
    Thanks for any help!!

Did you not copy your contacts from the old comtuer to the new one?  You should copy everything from the old computer.
BTW iphone stores nothing at all on the SIM card, so that would not matter anyway.

My Ipod Touch still contains all the original music. HELP!!  How can I download music from my IPod Touch and somehow get it into my computer (ITunes Lirbary)...... Can I down load my content to a computer that does not have ITunes installed?

  • My ipod touch is disabled for 22 million minutes and I want to fix it but I dont want to lose my pictures and everything else. Help please

my ipod touch is disabled for 22 million minutes and I want to fix it but I dont want to lose my pictures and everything else. Help please I dont remember the last time I updated it. Idk I think its been a year in an half since I known about it being disabled. What do I do? Im scared to restore it because I dont want to lose my stuff.

You have to restore and thus erase your iPod. that is how it works.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    Photos
    - If they are in an iPod backup then restore from that backup. See the restore topic of:
    iOS: How to back up
    - If they are in the iTunes backup then get them from the backup by:
Recover iPhone, iPad or iPod photos from backups with Picturescue
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer

i tunes will not update it says before i open itunes it wasent installed correctly but i dont want to lose everything i have how do i fix this?

It looks like you may have to reinstall itunes.
There are multiple things you should uninstall (and in a certain order) according to apple.
Also, even thought your music and itunes library information should not be affected in the uninstall, I would strongly recomend backing it up. Go to where you keep your music files and make sure you back up everything in the folders "itunes" and "itunes music".
The directions for the reinstall are here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925 They include what to uninstall and in what order. This is for itunes 9 and earlier, but I think it is the same for itunes 10.

  • I have a new computer and want to sync my phone to the new but dont want to lose the information. how do i transfer

i have a new computer and want to sync my phone to the new but dont want to lose the information. how do i transfer. i was told there was a way but not sure how

for the purchased items from the iTunes Store, you could use transfer of purchases
for the photos, other music/movie not from itunes, you'll be needing a third party application
for contacts, calendars , photos from camera roll : you could just directly transfer it from your phone to the computer.

  • My old computer is spoilt. so i bought a new one. now when i try to sync my iPodtouch with my new computer it says "do u wanna erase" the things on my iPod. i clicked NO. but i really wanna update my iPod to io5 but i can't as i dont want to lose my stuff

Before you restore the iPod from the backup that Dave had you make yu have to transfer stuff from the iPod to the computer since the backup does not contain the apps themselfes, music, synced phots and some other stuff.  To see what a backup contains see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946
    To transfer iTunes purchases:

    - For other stuff you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

  • I'm trying to buy an album but when I press buy now, it says this album is only purchasable in england, but I cant change region because I dont want to lose all my money? help

I'm trying to buy an album but when I press buy now, it says this album is only purchasable in england, but I cant change region because I dont want to lose all my money? help

You can only purchase content from your own country's store - if your account is not based in the UK (and you are not in the UK) then you won't be able to buy content from there. Is the album available on other music download purchase sites in your country ? You could try contacting Apple to say that you want it adding to your store, but ultimately it's the distributor/record company that will have to grant Apple a license to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • How can I sync my iPad to a computer after syncing it to the iCloud? I have the option of setting it up new, or restoring to a sync from many months ago. I dont want to lose any apps but I would like to back up on computer. No auto sync like other devices

How can I sync my iPad to a computer after syncing it to the iCloud? I have the option of setting it up new, or restoring to a sync from many months ago. I dont want to lose any apps but I would like to back up on computer. No auto sync like other devices.

Plug it into your computer. Tell it to sync with "this computer" instead of iCloud. You shouldn't have to remove any apps. Otherwise, you can save the app data by using i-FunBox ( http://www.i-funbox.com/ ) just go to the "devices" tab and select 'user applications' and select all of your apps and tell iFunBox to "copy to pc" you're done! You have them all backed up.

  • I was downloading the update on my iphone4 and then it turned off and told me to connect to itunes and now it wants me to recover it but i dont want to lose my stuff

I was in school earlier today and noticed that my iphone 4 needed an update, so  started the update then after like 2 mintues my phone turns off and when i tried to turn it back on it told me to connect to itunes. Now im connected and it tells me i must restore my phone...And i really dont want to lose my pictures and stuff like that so someone please tell me what i can do...

Sorry, you have no choice but to restore your phone now. If your data was not backed up before you attempted to update, it is gone.
Next time, backup before you attempt to update.

  • How do I load new songs when my ipod was loaded by somone else itune acct. I have my own account and dont want to lose what I have loaded on it

I have an ipod, 4 g, my girlfriend loaded it with 700 songs but she is no longer a girlfriend and I signed up to my own itune account and want to load new songs, how can i save whats on there and also create my own data base of songs,  i dont want to lose anything on the ipod

It sounds like you definitely want to turn off the  auto-sync before you hook your iPod up to the computer
         To turn off Auto-sync:
        1) open iTunes
        2) Preferences -> Devices -> check the box that says "Prevent iPods from syncing automatically
That way you can manually add songs to your iPod (using iTunes) without your iPod removing the songs on it
