Dont work dimms 2- on K8N Diamond

Hi, i have problem with DIMM 2-4, if i put any memrory ram in the DIMMs 2 or 4, the BIOS give this error (using the led):
Quote
Testing onboard memory size. The D-LED will hang if the memory module is damaged or not insalled properly
But if i put ram in the DIMMs 1-3, work without any problem, also work if i put memory in the dimms 1-2-3-4, but only recognize the ram who is in the dimms 1-3.
I try to reset de bios and upgrade it to the last version, but dont work. Please anyone help me
pd:sry for my english :(

I try to install 2x256mb(at the moment i have 2x512 kingston value ram, in the dimm 1 and 3), i use a signle mode, but the problem is the dimms 2-4, if i put only 1 memory ran (kinsgton value ram) in the dimm 2 o 4, dont work
that is normal, when using 2 memory sticks always put them into 1st DIMM slots(close to CPU socket.) about 4 sticks usage and 2 of them are not detected, can be due your mixing memory (ranks & banks, and CPU mem.controller cannot handle it) what CPU core you got btw? im still not conviced its DIMM slots failure. also before installing all 4 memory sticks setup from BIOS command rate to 2T, and apply memory index 166. also you have insterting all 4 stick in wrong direction. put in DIMM1 & DIMM2 Kingston sticks(instead DIMM1 & DIMM3) and 2 other once 2x256 into DIMM3 & DIMM4 (instead DIMM2 & DIMM4)
re-test.

  • K8N Diamond - SLI woes - I am almost ready to scrap it ALL! DESPERATE!!

OK - story, brothers pc that I built for him almost a year ago, couple of months after the build, purchased another 6600GT to fill the second slot (both MSI 6600GTs) worked a treat, SLI, boom boom, no dramas. The card was removed from the system (borrowed) a couple of months later to fit to another system as a test card, and he was without it for a couple of months and just running the one 6600GT again. Since then the card has been returned to his system, but I can't for the life of me get the freaking SLI to work again
    System-
    MSI K8N Diamond
    Athlon 3200
    MSI 6600GT x 2
    2 x 512mb PC3200 PQI
    1 x WD SATA II 250GB
    1 x LG 4167B DVDRW
TT Soprano + 400w TT PSU
This evening I have literally tried everything I could think of, started with driver cleaner and then reinstalled the 84.21 drivers I'd had working with it originally but no go.
Then installed the 91.31 drivers in vain knowing full well the result would be no different.
Removed both the cards, flipped the SLI config card and tried each card seperately thinking maybe one of them was dicky, nope.
Put them back with card two in card one's position and vice versa.
    Cleared CMOS
Format C: reinstalled XP, thinking maybe coolbits had dicked something up or there was something yuk in the registry from when I originally removed the second card but HADN'T DISABLED the SLI multi GPU feature in the Nvidia control panel before I shut down and pulled it out.
SP first boot installed all drivers Nforce, sound, network between reboots and then 84.21 again, no joy.
    Desperation sets in
So I'm looking at the piddly TT 400W psu wondering if maybe the couple of months 'work' it had done between the card being removed and then refitted could have been enough to wear it down to a point where it wasn't going to play the 'SLI game' anymore, yep, really clutching at straws by now.
Unplugged it all and fitted up an Antec 480W TruePower 2.0 I had sitting brand new in box for a rainy day, but alas.
So now I sit here typing this rant, staring across at the system to my right which is idling away and smiling at me while it displays the NVidia SLI config box with Nvidias little speel about adding a second graphics card for significant improvements in rendering technology with no option to enable SLI and I'm left thinking, what the hell do I do now  arrrghhhhhhh

Yeah I'm 100% sure this is hardware as opposed to Windows, though it would be nice to know what the PCIE VGA Link Width should be reported as for both a single card and SLI... I've never flashed the BIOS on this, irrelevant considering the SLI WAS working all peachy.
Yeah the SLI switching card has definitely been reversed and re-reversed... I know because I take my time doing it cause I've seen people bend pins in teh slot by putting it in at the wrong angle. I've also had it out and back in a couple of times since to make sure that it wasn't a seating issue.
So my SLI switch is in the right way and my bridge is sitting on top of my two cards but it still won't play ball. Although I've turned the bridge around as was suggested I can't see that would make a difference because I reckon it's the same both ways, the bridge, not the switch that is.
I really don't want to have to RMA the damned thing, bahhhhhhhhhh this will be the second (seperate) Diamond I've had to send back to my wholesaler for RMA !!!

i think my  purple slots have died..
inserting ram into both slots 1 & 2 cause beeping on start up... resetting cmos didnt help and adding voltage didnt either
i have tried moving to slots 3 & 4 with still no luck
1 stick works fine in slots 1 & 3 ...... Rams together in both 1 & 3 seem dont boot up but no beeps on inital start up
My rams have LED's so i can see if they start up properly....unfortunately [ for me ] anything with a slot 3 or 4 combination is out of the question
the Problem occurred when i added an external card reader into the usb slot..... i was thinking its a power problem but any help would be much appreciated
i am currently using 1.6 BIOS due to the fact that i am able to run 1T timing as i have tried a couple of different bios and tried to run 1T
i am thinking of a power inadequacy [ <---- lol not sure on spelling]   as i have water cooling and many fans on a 500w power supply

Could it be a  BIOS issue?

  • K8N Diamond Plus microphone not working

    Hello All...
Thanks to everybody who helped me with my cpu power problem - the computer is up and running wonderfully now.  The only issue that I'm experiencing, and I'm fully prepared to accept user error, is the fact that my mic is not working, or the levels are EXTREMELY low.  I have an antec case, and I used the pin header on the motherboard for front panel audio which contains a mic input and a line out (For me, it's for headset convenience without having to remove my speaker wire).  Since both the pin header and the connector conform to Intel standards, I think that's not the problem.  I've used the drivers on the CD as well as the drivers on the Creative site for Soundblaster Live 24 bit.  Both the front and rear connectors (and either version of the driver, for that matter) yield very low volume from the microphone.  I *could* suspect the headset, but it's fairly new and worked yesterday, and also, the earphone portion seems to work correctly.
    Since you'll want my specs:
    K8N Diamond Plus
Antec "Piano" case with 450 watt antec smart power supply
    Geforce 7800GTX
    dual pata drives (striping)
    dual dvd rw drives
    dlink wireless lan
Let me know if I can provide any other info, and thanks in advance for any assistance
    Steve

Didn't seem to make any difference.  I jumpered the pin header so that it was back to the way I got it out of the box. I even used a microphone for our camcorder, and that didn't seem to get any better result either.  Very strange...........

  • Can't get k8n diamond plus working with 4x1Gb

I managed to get the DDR memory frequency running at 333MHz using only 2x1Gb in the Green slots of the motherboard (as listed in page 2-7 of the K8N Diamond Plus Manual).
However, when I add the other 2x1Gb modules to the Purple slots, the system does not even come up.
I've then went back to 2x1Gb in the Green slots so that I can get the system to fire up, gone into the BIOS and adjusted the settings according to the configurations below and restarted.
I've then shut-down and re-inserted the other 2x1Gb into the Purple slots so that 4Gb is present, then rebooted but the system still does not come up.
    Adjust CPU FSB Frequency: 200.0
Current DDR Memory Frequency (this is Read Only) DDR 333
Adjust DDR Memory Frequency: set to Manual
Memory Clock: Tried all of the following for DRAM/FSB 1/2,2/3,5/6,1/1,5/4
Does anyone know of any person who has got a K8N Diamond Plus working with 4x1Gb ?

Tried removing one of the video cards and disabling the sound card (as suggested by http://www.asktheramguy.com/v3/showthread.php?t=65436), but the system still didn't fire up with 4Gb RAM.

  • Decent PSU for K8N DIAMOND

Recently i made the following system for a custumor:
    AMD 64 4000
    K8N Diamond
    2 x 512DDR 400 Elixir
    128mb Geforce 6600GT (Sparkle)
    2 x 250GB Maxtor 8mb on ide
    DVD-rom Lite-on
    DVD-RW NEC 3250
    MSI TV@nywhere
    12in1 Card reader
    Floppy
    Qtec 650W  Tripple Fan PSU
In this configuration the system works perfectly but my custumor found the power supply to noisy. So I chanched it to an ENERMAX EG425AX-VE but then it got too quiet. It got so quiet that there even didn't come any sound anymore out of the speakers. I thought it came from the power supply so I chanced it with an antec true power 550W EPS12V. But still there wasn’t any audio working. Then I tried an AOPEN 300W AO300-12APNFthen there was sound but after 2min there came I serious distortion on the sound…
I also tried a new win xp installation, Unplugging or removing devices but still no result the only PS that works is a cheap qtec 650W Triple Fan. Could you advice me on which PSU I could use in this configuration? Or would a bios update be a solution?

they used -5v in running the boards sound chip
and the very newest psu dont give -5v as it was dropped from latest atx specs
as bar the diamond its been an unused voltage for years
they say you can rma it and they will fix this on the diamond forum
or find a good psu gives 24a or more and has 0.5a on the -5v rail

  • ATTN K8N Diamond Plus Users - SLI problem

i need help diagnosing a problem:
i installed this board last night, transplanted my a64 4000+ along with 2 7800gt's and a brand new antec 550w psu. i did the live update bios flash (dont recall what version i am running now) got my e/n and audio drivers in place etc.
when i enable sli, the machine freezes when i fire up a game. both cards are plugged in properly, i tried swapping the slots they were sitting in, i tested both cards individually and they are good, i reversed the sli bridge just in case, reverted to fail safes in the bios,
i cannot play games in sli mode, in single card mode i can (I THINK... i am afraid this might be a heat issue, but i put plenty of fresh arctic silver on my proc, FEAR seems to freeze regardless if i am running sli or not..i will have to double check when i get home from work)
has anyone experienced anything similar? i am running fresh drivers and this is my first sli build so maybe i am missing something... i have been racking my brain for the last 12 hours, i dont think its the ram, could it be the northbridge chipset driver?  i installed the one off the disc, but i didnt check the site for a newer one...
thank you so much for your time.

Do not used liveupdate to flash the bios. Used from the program files itself. Refer from my sig on the flashing the bios. BTW create your own sig and gives more details about your peripherals and psu in details. What my concern is your PSU problems. Could you gives more details your PSU? Have you tried to install new drivers from NVIDIA??
the psu is a brand new antec 'true power 2.0' unit that i bought from newegg...in bios the 12v rail is showing 12.3 which might be a little bit high...but it is stable for what its worth...
here is my setup, i will create a sig shortly:
2gb PQI ram DDR400 running at stock speeds, not sure of the latency but i am thinking cas2
A64 4000+ Clawhammer proc running at stock 2.4ghz speed, 1mb cache
    MSI K8N diamond+
    dual 120gb maxtors
    sony dual layer 16x dvd
    stock cpu fan.
    shitloads of AS7
    another curious fact:
since the upgrade FEAR doesnt want to work at all... DOOM and COD2 both work in single card mode...but FEAR will freeze on me mere seconds after the first map loads...
i dont know what the culprit is...but i bet im gonna kick myself when i find out...
im gonna go re flash my bios now...
thanks for the input, its always greatly appreciated.

  • K8N Diamond Silicon Image SATA problem

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem with my Silicon Image controller,
when I installed WinXP and tried to install drivers for the
Silicon Image controller (in SATA mode) it don't exept
Silicon Image SiI 3132 SATALink Driver 1.0.0.9.
The only drivers Win exept is RAID drivers. But then I can't use them because
    I dont use RAID array.
I have tried to update the BIOS without any luck.
Is it the MB thats is broken or is it Win that has f***ed up?
    My specs:
    AMD Athlon 64 3700+
    MSI K8N Diamond
    4x Kingston HyperX 512MB DDR PC4000 CL3 (3-4-4-8-1)
HIS Radeon X850XT PE 256MB VIVO
    1x WD Raptor 36GB 10000RPM
    1x Maxtor DiaMax Plus9 120GB
    1x Maxtor DiaMax Plus10 300GB
    1x WD Caviar SE 250GB
3x Maxtor MaXLine Plus II 250GB
    (all SATA HDD)
Creative Labs SoundBlaster Audigy 4 Pro
    Plextor PX-716A DVD-R/RW/DL
    Windows XP SP2
    Zalman Reserator 1

On K8N Diamond the Sil3132 is a Raid5 controller. You can only install Raid5 driver (SataLink and SataRaid drivers don't work, only SataRaid5).
Use the latest driver version 1.2.3.1. You can download it from MSI.
If you don't use Raid, then you must go into the Silicon Image bios setup utility (CTRL+S or F4, when displayed) and set for each drive a JBOD array (Create Array -> JBOD).
(On newer bios JBOD has changed to CONCATENATION.)

  • K8N Diamond - dual channel DDR in 4slots

    Hi everybody.
That`s my first post here and It would be great if you guys could help me. I recently have searched the forum for an answer but i couldn`t found any.
I have MSI K8N Diamond main board and i recently added
    Kingston ValueRAM 2x512MB 184Pin DIMM PC3200 DDRRAM Non-Parity CL3.
How can I make it work in dual channel mode with other two DIMMs. All four slots are full now - Before i put two DIMMs in first and third slot second and fourth slot was empty and it works fine.
All 4 DIMMs are the same.
Should I increase voltage somewhere in BIOS?
That`s the direct link to dabs.com where i bought this memory
    http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx?Quicklinx=2NDK
    I`ve got ATHLON 64 3700+
    I would appreciate any help.

    Thanks qyx.
Timing was set up at 2T. I increase voltage to 2.7V and restarted computer. It was still Single Channel Mode...maybe because i didn`t switch it off. Then  I switched off the computer and swap the modules in slots. 1st and 2nd ban kwith old ones and 3rd, 4th bank with new ones. Now it`s in dual channel mode. I`m confused because i don`t know what changes made them work in dual channel mode-my fault.....but it works fine....thanks a lot.
Bas, memory works at 200Mhz...befoure i bought other two dimms  i didn`t know that it will affects the speed
Need to learn more about all that "complicated equipment"
    Thanks again.

  • I need help DDR voltage and latencies (K8N Diamond Plus)

I noticed my DDR voltage was incorrect in the bios and I don't know what "Auto" is doing with my timings. I have 2GB of Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2 DDR400 Memory installed on DIMM1 and DIMM2 of my K8N Diamond Plus board.
So far I've made the following changes (as my RAM's specs indicate) in the BIOS but I'm new to this (first build).
    DDR Voltage 2.75V
    CAS  2.0
    tRCD 3
    tRP   3
    tRAS 6
I left everything else at it's default setting. Are there any other changes I should make?

I'm having an issue with the 1.10 BIOS that is preventing me from manualy setting the timings...The problem I'm having right now is deciding what BIOS to install and where to download it. Perhaps you could help me with that?
With pleasure!  I had the same problem with the v1.10 BIOS, as did another member here.  I flashed BACK to the v1.0 BIOS (make sure to use the command line switched (just run the batch file)) and was able to set timings, and then I flashed directly to the 3.0A BIOS and was able to adjust timings still.  See my old thread here.
For my success (I don't know if any or all of these influenced it, but I'm just happy it works) in flashing I did the following:
Download the 1.0 (original) and 3.0A (latest "official") BIOS images from MSI's support site.
Downloaded the DrDos BIOS flash bootable ISO CD image from bootdisk.com
Used my ISO software to add the BIOS image files onto the ISO image.
    Burned the ISO to CD.
    Booted from the CD
    Flashed to 1.0
Cut Power (flipped PSU switch in back), held down the CMOS reset switch button on the mobo and the power button for 45 seconds.
Powered up, set "Optimized Defaults" and set memory voltage to 2.75v and rebooted.
Set all "normal" BIOS parameters (boot devices, et al).
Windows (x64) loaded with no issues, Everest reported timings appropriately
Did the same procedure for the 3.0A BIOS, with similar success.
You can see my post or click on the link in my sig for detailed memory reports.

Are you running just one set of TWINX2048-3200C2's?
Just one pair.  I fiddled with the CR and the only result was with the single known good DIMM my latency got slightly slower (like a 5ns drop), but still no love with 2 DIMMS.  I think it is just dead.  But this is not my story (at least not in this thread)...this is memticvirus's story.

  • MSI K8N Diamond Plus - Guide to my first week

OK, not a newb here, but been around the block quite a bit.   MSI K8N Diamond Plus is my 5th A64 mobo (ECS K8M800, my daily undestroyed computer, K8T800, my 12 year olds gamer, Asus A8V Deluxe, first 939 system, Abit AN8 SLI, first SLI gamer, and now the MSI Diamond Plus).   Had the KDP (K8N Diamond Plus) for more than a week now, and here's what I've learned.
This is state of the art again, and we have no one to blame but ourselves for the pain this causes us when we upgrade like lunatics
And as usual, the drivers and BIOS are al Dente (i.e. not cooked enought yet, a little raw)
MSI is also oddly silent on this system, which is wierd, as they are a large company, and specifically cater to enthusiasts.  But their BIOS guys are MIA.  Hopefully this will not be forever.  Asus, ABIT, DFI, Epox are always fast with fixes
The board is a nice design, with everything basically accessible, as much as any other board.   Lots of purposeful components, not too many dumb frills.  No tooty fruity colors, but rather practical parts.
The new 2 piece NForce chipset is fine, and the MSI guys gave us a decent, but funky cooler.  It gets a little warm to the touch when you pound on it with Prime95, or Quake4, but other than that it is fine
The manual has a zillion typos, and fortunately for us in this forum, we have shared what we've learned.  The translation from Chinese to English leaves quite a bit to be desired, and hopefully, MSI will learn from Asus and Abit and get a better translation service.  In 2006 this is just plain stupid, especially with a $225 board
As usual, the mobo supplied tweaker utilities are just aweful.  They look like a hallucination from a Hunter S Thompson book, and they work about as well.  Core center is a sad state of affairs, and the rest of them just burrow their way into your otherwise stable system and cause it to have poor behavior.  And therefore as usual, the BIOS is the best way, if slowest, to tweak this bundle of parts
Which brings us to the BIOS.  IMHO, the worst one I've seen on a high end board.  ZERO explanation for half the settings (this is not strange in and of itself, BIOS is still a black art, but in a tweakers board, we should have some basic explanation  )
There seem to be adequate settings in the BIOS for all sorts of doodads and gizmos, but who the heck knows what half of them are.  Roger points out rightfully, that we now need to "Tune" across all these different intermediary bus structures and test.  But with the lack of info from either NVidia, MSI or anyone else for that matter, its kinda hard to know where to start.
The board is clearly sensitive, which is a result of it being high strung.  This is no different than any "first out" product I've ever bought.  Most take 2 or 3 turns of the crank to get totally stable and forgiving.  This one hated my OCZ platinum EL 2Gb kit memory, and it brought out the worst in one of the SLI based EVGA 7800 GT COs.   These components worked in the Abit AN8 SLI (although not always great), but the MSI has ZERO tolerance for even the slightest pertubation from the memory.  It was BSOD city until I removed both of these components by process of elimination that took probably 100 hours
Once I removed the bad components, and replaced the memory with Geil Ultra X 2x512 2-2-2-5, it worked great, ran Prime95 for 10 hours with no errors, and seems reasonably stable.  I've RMA-d the bad 7800GT CO back to EVGA, and will report back on how SLI behaves when I get the new one (cross shipped of course, I haveno patience )
I also now need to replace the 2Gb RAM kit with something that the board will tolerate.  I may RMA the 2Gb kit back to OCZ and try another one, but I dunno.   I love OCZ but I have a bad feeling about this, even though they have great!!! support.  I may try OCZ PC4000 or the RAM that Roger successfully used.
I did upgrade to the 1.16 BIOS, and found that some new things were added, as well as voltage control in Cell was a little better, but registration of changes in voltage is still a disaster.   I adjusted a bunch of times, it didn't register, and I ended up smoking a new A64 3700+ Diego with 1.95 volts, even though the BIOS claimed it was 1.53.  I had to rebot to see what was going on.   The Thermalright XP-90 kept the proc from melting down through the earth
Finally, I hope this board attracts more people, and therefore more tweakers that can figure out all these gadgets and settings.  Everyone flocked to the Asus X16 SLI product, which is too bad, as this one needs lots o' folks to hack it up for us to figure out what is going on.
The on board Creative audio sounds lousy to my ears, and I will replace it with an Audigy 2ZS gamer that I had in the Abit.  It just sounds better, but hopefully the drivers will not trash my newly stable system.   Creative scares me, they scare me alot.
I've been able to get the CPU up to 2.4Ghz, with a .5 volt bump to the CPU and 2.9 volts into the Geil memory.  So far, so stable, no smoke coming out yet
I hope this info is somewhat valuable to someone on this board.  I will post details of all changes that I make, as others are doing, so we can at least take care of ourselves with this thing.

first of all, i do think that all the settings in the BIOS have an explanation in the manual, even if it's a basic one. if that explanation doesn't tell you everything in detail, is because if you do need a detailed explanation of the settings, you probably shouldn't be messing around with those settings.

The Thermalright XP-90 kept the proc from melting down through the earth.
wanna tell me how did you get 1.95V on that mobo?

I've been able to get the CPU up to 2.4Ghz, with a .5 volt bump to the CPU and 2.9 volts into the Geil memory.  So far, so stable, no smoke coming out yet
a 0.5V  bump? again, you must be joking. maybe 0.05V.

  • K8N diamond - memory upgrade advice?

    Hi all,
I would like to ask local experts for quick advise on memory upgrade. Originally I though that this is easy task but via reading some of discussions here it doesn't seems so easy anymore....
    What I have:
    Board: K8N Diamond
    BIOS version: 1.A0
CPU Type: Athlon 3700+ San Diego
    Memory: 2x KVR400X64C25/512 Kingston (DDR400 512Mb CL2.5)
    Operating System: XP (32)
    What help do i need:
I would like to upgrade now memory either to 2 (or 3 Gb) At the same moment I would like to keep dual channel setup on 400Mhz. Which of folowing options you recommend ?
    1. adding 2x KVR400X64C25/512
    2. adding 2x ddr 400 CL 2.5 1gb module (e.g. KHX3200/1G)
    (3. adding 2x 1gb and taking out 512MB but my strongly preferred option is not to sell current 512mg modules and replace them with 1gb .. loosing money on it...)
    a) are these options possible/feasible at all? will both work as dual channel?
    b) will system exploit dual channel on 400Mhz frequency in all options? My understanding from some discussions is that with all 4 banks full frequency goes down to 333 -> 1) can I boost it with my CPU/board to 400MHz (sustainably?) 2) if not can someone tell me +- what is performance difference 400Mhz vs 333Mhz?
    I hope question is clear....
Thanks upfront, I know that this is discussed topic here but as IT amateur I would preffer to get answer customized to my computer:)
    Paul

Hello, option 3 for me 2 gigs is more than enough but for the most demanding programs, and your going to spend money anyway you do it.
yes you can force 4 banks to ddr400 but at 2t command rate, window 32bit will only see and use 3gig or so
anytime you upgrade you loose money sell the 2x512 and recover some money, and if you OC two sticks will go much further than four
    Good luck Henry9

  • K8N DIamond Plus- 4 sticks of memory problem

I have a new Opteron 180 with a K8N Diamond plus mb. I am thinking about getting another 2g of memory to run with my current 2g of 3200 memory to speed up Vista even more.  I thought the new chips could run 4 sticks of memory at 400 with a command rate of 2t.  I wanted to try to see if it would work so I pulled two 512 pc3200 sticks from my wifes computer and installed it. At boot up it clocked the memory to 333 (which I expected it to actually) and I got into the bios and set it to 400 with 2t command rate and everything else at default settings.  All the memory is Kingston value ram.  The computer randomly booted and I had lockups at 400, but at 333 it ran fine, but I still couldn't run the memory at 1t with 333.  I am using bios 1.33 as the other bios's always set the HT bus wrong for me. Is this just a function of the motherboard or is the memory not compatable with each other? I thought the motherboard is irrevelant since the memory controller is on the cpu?
    Thanks for your help,
    Scott

The memorycontroller IS inside the CPU.
And some are lucky to get it stable booting at DDR400 with 4 sticks, some get crashes.
However, most have drop-backs to DDR333.
It's a CPU limitation when using unbuffered memory.
Buffered memory should be able to do it, however, I'm not quite sure as this is an S939 type CPU.
You could try something if you know somebody that has buffered memory.
Sometimes it helps if you lower the other timings.

  • 2 'problems' with the K8N Diamond Plus

    Hi there.
I just bought a K8N Diamond Plus and I'm having some troubles installing my system in conjunction to my Decklink Extreme PCI-E ( http://www.decklink.com/products/sd/ ).
    Here's my configuration:
    MSI K8N Diamond Plus
    AMD64 X2 4400+
    ROSEWILL 6600GT PCI-E VGA
    Decklink Extreme PCI-E
    2GB  RAM ( 2 x 1gb) Kingston
    OCZ-520 12U Modstream Power Supply
    plus 6 HD's (7200rpm) and 1 DVD-+RW
The problem is, when I try to initialize the system with the Decklink, which it's a PCI-E 1x, it just don't boot. Neither putting the Decklink on the 1x, nor in the 4x slot and nor in the 16x.
The Decklink is working just fine in another system and doesn't seem to be a problem with this card.
I wondered if there's any limitation in the K8N Diamond Plus with working with the ROSEWILL 6600GT PCI-E VGA plus the Decklink.
    =======================
The other thig is that when I take off the Decklink, the system boots normaly but a message appears while booting: "Not enough space to copy PCI option ROM 00:13:00".
And I don't have a clue about what's going on.
    =======================
Please enlighten me with this questions if possible.
    Thank you very much.
    Greets.
    Igor Bineli

Remove the battery away for 10 minutes, clear CMOS, start the system to load setup/optimized defauts in bios setup. After that, disable all onboard items in bios setup that you won't to use.  Save and exit.
Plug ROSEWILL 6600GT PCI-E VGA card,  and start your system to check if there is the error message. If there is, borrow another brand VGA card to do a test.
Besides, update your MB bios and driver version to the latest one.

  • K8N Diamond SLI...no more than 2070MHz?

Can anyone here shed light on why my new K8N Diamond will only run with a BUS Speed of 230 MHZ with my Venice (0517) 3000+?
    230x9=2070Mhz...pretty poor.
    I have 2.75v VDIMM
    1.45v +3.3% Vcore
    3x HT (16 up 16 down)
    Spread spectrum is off
    Cool & quiet is off
    Dynamic O/c is off
The 1GB Corasir PC4400 Dual channel TwinX memory is at 1T 1:1 (200MHz) at 2.5-4-4-8 (230 Mhz is well below it's 275Mhz rating)...all auto configured.
I am running BIOS 3.4/1.4 (Both do the the same thing)
CPU Temp is 28 to 31°C, System Temp 26 to 29°C after running for an hour or so.
Anything more than 230 MHz HTT and the machine will not even post.
I have even changed the memory for a new set from the supplier...still behaves the same!
My machine specs are in my Sig at the bottom.
All I can think of is that the BIOS revision is holding the system back.
I was hoping to run the HTT BUS at 275 to get the max bandwidth for my RAM at 1T.
Anything between 2.4 and 2.7 Ghz would have been sweet!
I was careful to buy the best components for this new machine...even waited for Venice.
    Any suggestions would be welcomed.
Oh, and when cold booted, the machine can take 3 or 4 attempts to post, but it's fine when warm booted/reset....hence my suspicions of the BIOS.
    K6dude

Not got round to re-flashing the BIOS, but used ClockGen yesterday and got a stable 9x280=2520MHz at 1T with a 3x HTT multi for 6 hours, no crashes or hang-ups....all on stock voltages for RAM CPU and NB.
CPU TEMP Max got to 33°C, case TEMP to 30°C.
The BIOS is definitely not stable in itself.
I know it's  a dodgy thing to do unless you have a BIOS Savior (not available in my country), but has anyone ever tried using the DFI Lanparty BIOS in an MSI Mobo?
Mostly same accessories apart from Creative sound, just maybe? After all an Nvidia "Award" based system should be uniform in most respects shouldn't it?
I once used a Toshiba BIOS in a Compaq to get extra settings on a laptop and it worked a treat. All I lost was the ability to "see" the LAN socket, but a small price to pay I think.
