Doomed to "crazy horse" on repeat forever ? "Menu" button not responding

Control button "menu" will not recognize. Ipod mini stuck on song repeat.
This is the first time ipod was set to song repeat, now after two days, menu button will not engage...every button works, volume, start, pause, etc., except the "menu." Am I doomed to listen to "crazy Horse" in repeat forever????? Help! How do I get the "menu" button to work?

Try plugging the iPod into the computer. That usually seems to work.
Also, try a Reset by toggling Hold on and off, then holding Menu and Select for 6-10 seconds, until the Apple logo shows up.

Well, you can't do a reset if your menu button doesn't work because you need to press and hold both the MENU and CENTER buttons at the same time. Are your MENU and PLAY buttons pushed in?? If I were you I'd send it back to Apple or I'd take it back to wherever I bought it from; you really can't do anything with buttons that don't work.

Menu button not responding - iPod first generation

I just noticed it today that my old iPod's menu button is not working anymore. Although I can still reboot by pressing the Play and Menu button at the same time.
Does anyone have any idea?

Have you tried restoring the iPod via iTunes? If not, that would be your next step. Otherwise, if no luck with that process, your iPod may need to be serviced in order to gain full functionality again.

Apple (Finder) menu do not respond

I make a search but could find anything related to this specific trouble.
It has happen already few time (3) after download or update a soft (QT) Apple/Finder Menu does not respond anymore to function SLEEP, RESTART and SHUT DOWN.
I have repair permission (no result), run ONYX 1.5.3 (no result), Disk Warrior 4.0 (no result), eDrive -TTP 4.1.2- (no result)...
The Mac (almost) never stop or put in sleep to let utilities like Onyx and TTP check/repair automatically on night.
Since I thought it should be a corrupted preference file, I moved on desktop com.apple.finder.plist, com.apple.systemuiserver.plist and restart.
The two first time I did that, Finder was working again normally. But this time not !
I also try disable Application Enhancer 2.0.2 for testing and also kill the finder from Activity Monitor (an advise), through away again com.apple.finder.plist and com.apple.systemuiserver.plist.
At restart, still no response at menu Sleep, start etc...
Any idea what could I try now to solve that ? It's so boring !

Which of your Macs are you having a problem with? The iMac or the iBook?
What size is the Hard Drive, and how much space is available?
How much RAM is installed, and is it original or added?
By all means, run Repair Permissions, as Dimaxum suggested, which should be run from Disk Utility, located in the Utilities folder, while booted from the Startup Volume, not from the system disc. Instructions posted below.
In addition, if you are able to startup from the system disc, run Repair Disk. Instructions posted below.
If neither of those corrects the problem, reinstalling the 10.3.9 Combo Update, may correct the problem.
When completed, run Repair Permissions once again.
TO REPAIR PERMISSIONS ON THE STARTUP DISK
1.Open Disk Utility, located in Applications/Utilities, and select the startup disk in the left column.
2.Click First Aid.
3.Click Verify Disk Permissions to test permissions or Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions. (I never "Verify". Just run "Repair".)
Rerun RP until the only messages reported, are listed here Spurious Permissions Errors Using: 10.3.x
When "Repair Permissions" is complete. Quit "Disk Utility".
THESE ARE THE STEPS FOR USING DISK UTILITY TO REPAIR YOUR HD
1.Insert the System Install disk, Mac OS X CD-ROM disk, or Restore DVD disk, then restart the computer while holding the C key. Use the System disk, of the OS, that is currently installed.
2.Once started up from CD or DVD, on the Menubar at the top of the screen, choose Disk Utility from the Installer contextual menu for Panther, or Utilities for Tiger.
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from disc to access Disk Utility.
3.Click the First Aid tab.
4.Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5.Select your Mac OS X volume, if necessary.
6.Click Repair. If DU reports errors it has fixed, re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported.
7.Repeat steps 5 & 6, but select the Hard Drive this time. It's usually the first listed with the manufacturer's model number. Make note of the S.M.A.R.T. status.
8.When finished, select Quit Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
9.Select Quit Installer from the Installer menu.
10.In the resulting pop-up window, choose restart.
11.After the computer has restarted, you can eject the CD.

Title & Menu Buttons not working correctly on remote control/ set top player but work in preview.

Title & Menu Buttons not working correctly on remote control/ set top player but work in encore preview. This only happens for a Blu ray project. When a user presses the menu button it should go to the previous menu they were on but it goes to the main menu. When they press the title button they should go to the main menu but it doesn't do anything. My DVD projects work as expected.I've tried creating a new "test" project with different footage and still get the same undesirable results.
Overrides grayed out and set to "not set" for timelines and menus.Project settings and build are set to blu ray. Also I've noticed when I preview a Bluray project the preview window shows a red colored disc next to the Title button when viewing the timelines and green when playing the menus but not so for a DVD project it displays red if motion menus and or timelines are not rendered/encoded. I'm not using motion menus and all the media is encoded according to the project specs.
I've searched this forum but couldn't find the answer. Any help or redirects to a solution would be appreciated. Working with CS5. Thanks.

I found out on my Samsung Blu ray player the remote has a tools button on it that brings up audio, angle, chapter selection etc.and also title selection which is actually the menus and the timelines unfortunately. It's not as easy or direct as last menu selected but it's a workaround at least. I also plan on using a pop up menu. I'll let you know.

You are using a Spry menubar widget. Spry was created pre-touch-screen systems and hence not designed for touch screens.
There are a number of solutions available to you
1. Don't have an active link on the main menu item
2. Place submenus in the page that is opened by the main menu item, e.g. as a vertical menu
3. Use Spry Menu Bar ver 2.0
3. Use a different menu system that is geared to accommodate touch screens

There are a number of free-of-charge jQuery menubars, you could also opt for one of the commercial menubars such as PVII, WebAssist or DMXZone

Menu Buttons not working

I have produced a DVD from movies made in imovie HD 6.0.3 using iDVD version 6.0.4 and find that the buttons cannot all be selected by the DVD player remote control and also the buttons do not appear to be navigated in the correct order. I would appreciate some advive, please.

Different themes seem to work differently, but in general I have found that the buttons in iDVD created DVDs don't always behave like commercial DVDs in respect to what happens when I hit buttons on my DVD player remote. It been that way as long as I remember.
iDVD includes MANY simplifying assumptions that make things easier for home users. If you want full control of what the menu buttons do, you need something like DVD Studio Pro. Most of us just live with the 'quirks'.

S110 menu button not working

Hi,
We're on our honeymoon and been taking good pictures without any problems with Canon S110 until yesterday. The camera suddenly has the following problems:
1. turn on normally but then immediately taking one photo no matter what mode it's on.
2. once the single photo was taken, the camera completely freeze except the display button working and the delete button (working but not be able to select delete)
3. shutter button and zoom in or out is completely useless
3. MENU button is NOT working at all
We have been trying the following:
- new fully charged batterry
- new SD card
- turn off and remove both battery and SD card overnight
It's very frustrated and we only have this camera on this trip. Please help!!!

Just registered to report my solution.
I have a similar problem with the PowerShot S110 of my wife's sister.
At some time a menu button and all joystick buttons stop working.
The problem was because of sticking zoom control (yeah it's very stupid).
At the normal state zoom control must return to central position!
When zoom control is on the left or right position - some buttons don't work.
I hope this info will be usefull to someone.

Menu button not working on iphone4

The lower menu button has stopped working on the iphone 4. Anyway to fix it or do we have to buy a new phone?

Are you sure? Have to actually tried holding the MENU and SELECT buttons to reset it? Sometimes this works even though the menu button doesn't appear to work otherwise.
If it's not working though, you might try restoring it.

Iphone menu button not working takes several clicks to change menu

I can push on off button, and keep pushing menu button and will finally change, but doesn't just click to change anymore. Just started this today, I just got the phone when verizon came out with it in Feb. so is still new. What can I do?

Just happened or ? I found this in iphone manual :
If something isn’t working right, try restarting iPhone, force quitting an app, or resetting iPhone.
Restart iPhone:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

E63 menu button not working

When I press the menu button the bluetooth symbol disappears, the provider name (vodafone AU) flashes but nothing else happens, I can fix the problem by resetting the phone. Any ideas?

Sounds like hardware issue. If only 2 months old you can make appt at Apple Store to have it replaced or you can call 1-800-MY-IPHONE and arrange shipping it to them (free).

N8 menu button not woking correctly

If i press the menu button when the device is locked it works fine and brings up the clock. However when i press the menu button on the home scrren the menu does not appear. How should i go about solving this problem?

did u try turning your phone on and off, did you install any new apps that might be doing something funny to your phone? do you have the latest firmware? if the answer is yes and you have tried all these things then a nokia care visit might be in order

Menu button not functioning properly

Hi everyone. After I upgraded my iPod Software to Version 1.2.3 I noticed that my menu button starting working improperly. Here is what it is doing, while listening to music I press the menu button to go back and it pauses the music that I am listening to. I press it again and it restarts the music, sometimes from the pause point and other times from the beginning. After I press the button a bunch more times, it goes back a menu but the music will pause, restart, and play a few seconds afterwards. Has anyone heard about this happening or does anyone got a suggestion? F.Y.I. I have completed the 5 R's twice with no luck.

As this issue seems to be software (firmware) related, you might want to give a try to CopyTrans Doctor http://www.copytrans.net/doctor.php before sending your iPod for repair.
CopyTrans Doctor is said to be a "software iPod repair solution".
That may help.

Menu button not available

I cannot get to the menu button on my samsung galaxy 2 10.1 tablet. There is not a menu on the botton of the screen as many keep referring to either. Am I correct that customizing the app is just going to not be possible? Am about ready to give up and uninstall again.

Next steps: if the device does not have a 3 dot menu we need to file a bug and have qa repro.

5-Gen Nano Menu Button Not Working

My first post - Cannot get the Menu button to function on my 5th generaton Nano, always has functioned before. So I cannot get it to perform a reset! When I toggle the Hold switch & then hold the Center & Menu buttons down simultaneously, the Ipod turns off but I never see the Apple logo! Tried this while connected to different USB ports, while connected to external power, and while unconnected.
Also been through all the Apple Website directed-actions including uninstalling all Itunes, Quick-time, and related programs and folders (except was unable to delete Temp folder).
I have reinstalled Itunes, and restored the Ipod to no avail!
Anyone have a clue for me?
