Doos the non server OS X support SNMP queries?

I'd like to query my mac's interface's bandwidth as well as cpu load/temp etc. via SNMP. Is there any built in SNMP in os X that I can enable somewhere?

snmpd(8) - daemon to respond to SNMP request packets.
snmpd is an SNMP agent which binds to a port and awaits requests from
SNMP management software. Upon receiving a request, it processes the
request(s), collects the requested information and/or performs the
requested operation(s) and returns the information to the sender.
In /etc/hostconfig set SNMPSERVER to '-YES-'
see the manpage for snmpd(8) and snmp.conf(5) for details.

Setting up the Mac Mini (non server) with RAID 1

I have a regular Mac Mini (Mid 2011) with Lion OS. I would like to change the hard disk to 2 1TB drives and use RAID1 to add some reliability to my data. Is this possible in the non-server Mac mini? Do I need to remove all my data to convert the system to RAID1 (assuming I can)?

Yes- Colin Jeukens posted step by step instructions back a couple of months ago. Here it is again...
Out of the box the mini comes without Raid. You have two identical HDs of 500Gb.
I have just set it up as Raid1. You can't do this when you use the startup disk from the mini. And as you don't have a Superdrive ... you need to be creative. You need another Mac with Firewire.
Step 1: Start the Mini in Target Mode. Press the T during start. In a few seconds the firewire logo will appear on your screen.
Step 2: Go to your second Mac. Connect the firewire cable between second Mac and Mini.
Step 3: On the second Mac start the disc utility. The two identical drives on your mini will show. Create a new Raid set (mirrored = Raid 1). Include both drives. Confirm the warning that all data on the mini will be lost.
Step 4: Make sure your second Mac has CD/ DVD sharing option installed. This is tou use the superdrive to install OS X Server on the mini.
Step 5: Shutdown both Macs
Step 6: Start your second Mac in target mode. Make sure the firewire cable is still connected.
Step 7: Start the Mini with the option key pressed.
Step 8: Insert the OS X Server install disc in your second Mac.
Step 9: wait till the drive logo apears om the Mini. Continue the install. Will take about an hour.

Multiple oracle database instances with different characterset on the same server

Hello,
Is it possible to have 2 database instances running with different charactersets,one with AL32UTF8 and the other with WE8MSWIN1252.?
Are there any setup requirements to be performed prior to setting up the database instances?
The 3rd party utility that we want to use does not support AL32UTF8 and insists on using a database with character set WE8MSWIN1252.

I guess I posted my question in a wrong forum. I tried my best to find a suitable forum and thought this was the best and closest I found. Apparently not. Can you please let me know the right forum for my question?
The below is the breif of what we are currently facing:
We are in the process of finalizing plans to install Automic for our Retail applications to schedule jobs. In the process came to know that Automic does not support AL32UTF8.
Right now we have RMS and UC4 (now called Automic) run on the database server as UC4 supports AL32UTF8 and schema for UC4 is inside the RMS database.
Going forward it is recommended to have a separate database instance on the same server as that of RMS database and with a different characterset which is WE8MSWIN1252.
Please let me know what forum to post in, I will repost the question.

Snow Leopard Server to Lion Non-Server?

I have Snow Leopard Server on a MacMini. I cannot install the non-server version of Lion and must pay extra for Lion-Server upgrade. Is there a way to install Lion on my MacMini that has Snow Leopard Server installed?

You can't install Lion Server (which is simply the Server App) without installing Lion anyway. What this means is you can install 'ordinary' Lion on your existing Snow Leopard Server and provided you don't download and launch the Server App your Snow Leopard Server won't really be a Server anymore. Leastways not with any usuable 10.6 Server Administration applications (Server Admin, WorkGroup Manager etc) that you can use as these are all deleted/removed when Lion is installed.

Cant connect at BAM console from the second server

I have BAM 11.1.1.3.3, running with 2 managed servers (cluster). I created a user on WLS console with DefaultAuthenticator method.
I associated this user as Report architect at BAM Grid Control.
I can connect at OracleBAM apps from one server, but from the second server I get error:
BAM-00223: service oracle.bam.adc.common.core.IDataStore
What could it be??

Did you configure the BAM cluster in active-passive mode. Since the BAM server does not support active active configuration.
By looking at the error it looks like the BAM server is trying to start on the other node. Please follow the SOA HA documentation to configure BAM active passive.

POP MAIL STOPPED WORKING - server doesn't support X-APOP?

All of a sudden I am getting an error for my POP mail that says the POP server does not support "X-APOP authentication". I didn't change any settings and I haven't been able to receive any of my POP mail since Sunday. Any ideas?

This error is likely due to a change in the authentication settings in the affected email account. Try this:
Click Settings
Click Mail
Click the affected account
Click Advanced
Look at Authentication - it should be PASSWORD. If it's MD5, change it to PASSWORD.
Use the dark blue icon at the top to go back twice after you changed it back to PASSWORD.
Hit home and check your mail - should work fine now.

Pull out Optical Drive and add 2nd drive to non server 2010 Mini

Is the internal set up the same on the server and non server 2010 mac mini?
I have a 120GB SSD drive that I would love to install as my boot drive and then take out the optical drive and move the 500GB HDD to that spot. I can put the optical drive in an external case and connect as needed via USB. Is this possible with the NON server Mini?

Non-Server Hard drive speed ?

I'm looking at one of the new Mac-Minis, and the server version is listed as having dual 500GB 7200 RPM drives.
However, the non-server version only lists 320GB or 500GB SATA drives, with no speed listed. I've looked at a display model and have seen that the 320GB drive is 5400 RPM. Is the 500GB drive 5400 RPM as well, or 7200 RPM?

The standard Mac Mini comes with 5400 RPM drives, while the Server edition comes with 7200 RPM drives.
As long as you're not needing a built-in Superdrive, the server edition sounds like a better deal, factoring in the increased rotational speed and drive capacity.

Anyone know if having RAC and RAC One Node on the same server is possible, supported, and recommended? Our architecture group is moving towards this configuration as a standard, and I need solid direction about feasability.

Yes you can have the RAC and RAC one on the same cluster. For support and recommendations raise a service request with oracle support

Test 1 succeeds, returning expected results, and Test 2 fails returning the error mentioned above.
Other articles I've found so far don't seem to apply to my case. I am not creating any explicit transactions in my code. When I use OPENQUERY, I am able to do the insert just fine, but not when I use EXEC @MDX at LinkedServer.
Unfortunately in some variations of the query, I run into the 8800 character limit on OPENQUERY, so I need to use this other approach.
Any ideas?

You're ignoring context. On the old Apple Discussion Groups I never posted replies like that, instead giving people relatively detailed answers.
