Dopacity registry key deletes itself when closing acrobat 9.5.1

Hello,
Everytime the user closes out of acrobat, the registry key (dopacity) deletes itself. When you relaunch it, it creates a new dopacity key with the value of 0.0005, then the typewriter tool does not work. We manually change that key to 1.0 and it is fine until closing out of acrobat. We ran a repair, same issue, updated and repaired also did not fix the issue. Apart from the user running the registry key everytime, and completely uninstalling the program and re-installing (Not positive that uninstalling and re-installing will work), is there any way to fix this issue.

I've faced some problem with my MBP (mid2012). It starts by itself when closed and in sleep mode.
System is not booting, just black screen, loudly spinning fans and very hot macbook. It has no reaction on opening, touching keys or trackpad, so I used power button to shut it down.
It happened two times and both times the laptop was in my backpack in sleep mode. Before closed, there were some heavy apps running (Photoshop, Illustrator).
I'm afraid it can repeat when i won't be able to shut him down quickly and it will heat more

USB key ejecting itself when transferring large files

I have a LG 16G USB key formatted in MacOS extended (journaled), I've been encountering a particular issue when I try to transfer files taken on another computer and copying them from the key to my Macbook pro ( OSX 10.6.2). after it start transferring it ejects itself with the "the disk was not ejected properly" message, then reappears right away in the finder...
the problem doesn't present itself when I copy a file from my macbook pro to the key, and then try transferring it back to my computer. and I've tried this with both small files (under 200mb) and large files (over 4G).
I've also noticed the transfer rate is very slow when this happens.
so far the problem only presents itself when I transfer files from one of the MacPro's in my university's studios, but since I work a lot on these machine, this is becoming quite a problem. I don't have the complete specs of these machines, they all run on Leopard, probably 10.5.something. not SL... perhaps that's the problem?
I've seen similar post on the forum concerning this issue with TimeMachine backup drives, suggesting it had something to do with the sleep preferences, however I've tried all the potential solutions from these post and the problem persists.
So far the only solution I've found has been to transfer the files to my girlfriend's macbook (running on tiger), and then transferring the files in target mode from her computer to mine... quite inconvenient...
I have a feeling this might be due to the formatting of my key, I have a 2G USB key formatted in MS-DOS (FAT32) and have had no problems with it so far. The reason I formatted in Mac OS extended is simple, I work in the video field and with HD I find myself often moving around single files larger then 4GB, which I've come to understand isn't possible in FAT 32.
I'd like to know how to resolve this, and especially like to know if it is indeed a format issue, since I'm soon going to acquire a new external hard drive for the sole purpose of storing my increasing large media files and would like to know how to format it.

Automatically delete text when clicking (Acrobat Pro)

I've been struggling with a problem for 3 hours now and I can't find any solution in this forum, youtube, google or where ever.
I'm busy making a fillable form in Adobe Pro X and I'm trying to add text in an object which disappears the moment you click/tab in it. Something like the "search bars" on most of the regular websites (see top right of Adobe page).
As a second demand, the prefilled text should be vissible but not be printed, as for the text which is typed by the customer (in the same field) should be vissible and be printed.
I don't have any knowledge about Javascript or HTML, so if it can only be done with one of these options, can someone please add the code aswell?
I hope i'm not asking to much of Acrobat.

There are several ways of doing it. Here's my favourite:
- Create a text field and set its default value to the text you want to display when no value is entered into it.
- Apply the following code as the field's On Focus script:
if (event.target.value==event.target.defaultValue) {
    event.target.value = "";
    event.target.display = display.visible;
- Apply the following code as the field's On Blur script:
if (event.target.value=="") {
    event.target.value = event.target.defaultValue;
    event.target.display = display.noPrint;
- That's it, pretty much. Reset the form and you should see it working.

I am trying to download apps on i phone 4s, the download gets soo far then waits, then deletes itself, when i go back into app store the app has a cloud with an arrow through it whats happenining, i cannot download anything.

I phone 4s, i have problems downloading apps since updating the phone. The app starts to download then goes into waiting, then it dissapears from screen? i go back into app store and the app has a cloud with an arrow through it icon at the side, what is this? i have quite a few apps with this icon now. is this stopping the downloads?

Activate Updater with registry key

i have got a problem. I will make it quick. I look for a way to set the updater to status "download all updates and install them automatically".
I want to do this with a registry key which i will send to all clients in our organisation for installation.
Can someone tell me which registry key is changed when i set the status to "download all updates and install them automatically"?

but have had no luck with Win2008 Server.

First upgrade to CR XI R2 ( version 11.5 ) for free and use your XI keycode, make sure you have it, we can't give you a new one.
And install both patches before running crystal reports.

Unable to write to registry key for Acrobat XI - error 1406

Hi all,
I have a problem regarding the installation of Adobe Acrobat XI 11.0.07 on an ASUS laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium OS.
In short, I am unable to complete the installation of Adobe Acrobat XI on this machine because Acrobat is not able to write the value to the registry key situated here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> SOFTWARE --> Microsoft --> Internet Explorer --> Toolbar.
I tried to find solutions on the internet, and have found one webpage at the Adobe Forums, which is this one: Error 1406.Could not write value Adobe ARM - and it was not very helpful, since the person asking solved his problem, but did not tell how he did. So, I found this page at Acrobat Help, called Error 1402 | Error 1406 | Acrobat, Reader where I tried the different solutions, but so far none of these have worked. What I did was to remove all previous versions of Adobe Acrobat, Reader, Air and so on. In fact, I deleted all software from Adobe in case one of these softwares were to blame, but it has not worked. But before I deleted all this software, I deleted Acrobat and Reader several times, but as you probably already have found out, it did not work. As this did not work, I tried the next solution at Acrobat Help, which was to "Set permissions to their defaults in the registry". I followed the solution completely and did everything it said, but it has not worked. As a note, I have to say that the registry key type I have problems with is called "Locked", the type is REG_DWORD and the data value is (0). Does this have anything to do with it? I am not too familiar with editing the registry. Though, I did try to change the value to (1) and updating the registry, but it did not work...
More information: nevertheless if I install the complete version of Adobe Acrobat XI or the typical installation, the same error comes up: error 1406. And I did scan my system with my antivirus software, called Bullguard, to see if there were any viruses; there were none. I also closed my antivirus software and diabled the firewall of Bullguard, but that was not succesful either, and I did a scan of my system using cmd as an administrator (sfc /scannow), and the program found some errors it could not fix. As far as I can see, it found three .dll files with errors. I have the document called sfcdetails.txt if that would be any helpful to you.
Besides that, I am not sure what to do. I did pay for Adobe Acrobat the 23rd of January, 2015, and I have not managed to make it work properly yet, and I cannot update the software, since I have this problem with the registry. I am able to use the software for what I had to use it for until now, but I would like to be able to use it for everything it stands for and update it to prevent any lapse in security.

Thank you for your answer. Though, it did not solve my problem! I did what you said: I tried using the Adobe Acrobat cleaner tool, and afterwards, I restarted my computer. After this, I downloaded the program from your link and I tried to install the program, but I did not succeed, because the same error came up, which is this:
Error 1406. Could not write value {47833539-D0C5-4125-9FA8-0819E2EAAC93} to key \SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar.
With this error, the only options are to abort, retry or ignore the install, but none of these solves the issue, I am afraid.
But what I think it is all about is how to gain access to the registry. I followed the tutorial, I mentioned above, but I were not able to solve it... I gained administrator access to the registry, I made the current administrator account the owner of the key (the current administrator is not the original administrator of the computer, since I changed this long time ago), and I made the permissions correctly, I guess. I followed the tutorial, anyhow. Though, what confuses me, is that when pressing the button, called "Advanced", and entering the menu called "Advanced security settings for Toolbar" (I have the Danish version of Windows, excuse me if I did not translate it correctly), I see many persmission posts, two of which have the name of the current administrator account. One of these have full control, the persmissions from this are not inherited and they are used on "this key and underkeys". The second only has a special permission, it is inherited from "MACHINE\SOFTWARE\..." and it is used only on this key. How to change this, I am not sure. But I do not suspect that there should be two permissions for the same administrator account? Do you know if this is right?

Has anyone ran into this issue and has another solution other than the ‘Do not forcefully unload the registry at user logoff’ registry edit?

VBScript to Delete Registry Keys

I have a VBscript that I use to delete some keys and change some keys in the registry. We use it in our environment because we have SCCM which ties Windows Update to the SCCM server. Sometimes that server doesn't have the latest updates, so I normally run
this script and it deletes the keys that tie the computer to the SCCM server, and re-enables Windows Update.
The script was working fine for quite some time, and still does work on Windows 7, however since I've upgraded to Windows 8 or 8.1, it no longer actually deletes the keys, it seems to run, but then when I open Windows Update, it's still disabled, and if
I look under the appropriate keys in the registry, none of them are deleted. I think it must be some kind of security change in Windows 8 or something. Can anyone help me get this working under Windows 8?

Please take a try to edit this registry key: EnableLinkedConnections, follow the steps below:
1. Click Start, type regedit in the
Start programs and files box, and then press ENTER.
2. Locate and then right-click the registry subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System.
3. Point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type EnableLinkedConnections, and then press ENTER.
5. Right-click EnableLinkedConnections, and then click
Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click
OK.
7. Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.

I can not re-install/ update apple iTunes on my HP PC running Win7-64. I get a registry key error when installing and am asked to make sure I have access. IT is a home PC with one user and I have admin priveledges.

When the updater notified me of an iTunes update, I selected the update option. The update failed and killed the version I was running. I have tried for a year to fix the problem without sucess. I can't completely remove all Apple products. I can not install any apple products especially iTunes which is the only one I am interested in.
When I install iTunes now I get a registry key error similar to this:
I am using a machine where I am the only user and am the Admin. I have looked at the security settings on this key and see nothing wrond with it or the parent keys. I tried removing all apple products but ran into similar problems. At this time I still have Bonjour. Mobile Device Support, Software Update, and Application Support installed.

These ones are tricky. But the following instructions are worth a try.
First do a complete uninstall of iTunes and related components (but don't reinstall just yet), as per the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
a. Launch regedit (Start >> Search Programs and Files >> type Regedit and open the regedit that comes up.)
b. Access the following Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData \S-1-5-18\Components
c. Perform the following actions
i. Right Click on Components Folder
ii. Select Permissions
iii. Select Full Control and Read Permissions options
iv. Select Advanced Button
v. Select Owner Tab
vi. Select to Change Owner to the Administrators
vii. Check the option “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects”
viii. Select OK when prompted that it may not change all.
ix. Select Apply
x. Select Apply again
xi. Exit the Registry Editor
Now try reinstalling iTunes again. Does it go in properly this time?

When Installing iTunes I get an Error Message About A Registry Key

It gives me this error message:
Could not open key:
HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes\QuickTimePlayerLib.QuickTimePlayerApp\CLSID. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
I can't find that error listed anywhere on the iTunes support site. How can I fix this?

some folks have been having some success with pgfpdwife's technique in the following post:

note carefully that the technique involves a registry edit. be sure to make a backup of any keys you edit. if you're unfamiliar with your registry or registry editing, head to your XP help and support, do a search on registry, and read through the articles that come up.

There is no key because that is an important dialog. Why would you want it to go away?

Acrobat registry keys to create file name and path

Hi,
I need to find a way to get my Acrobat to create a pdf with the same name as the drawing file it's created from and in the same folder as the drawing file. The folder path will vary from drawing to drawing.
I need this to happen automatically, without prompting for the file name or the destination.
I see there is a way to set a pre-defined path using registry keys but is there a way to use registry keys to set the filename and path of the drawing, please?
I would rather not use scripting as I don't really know how to do it.

I think it will use the path and name of the original file if you do not prompt for a file name. I always ask, so I am not sure.

How to disable 'Remove Hidden Information' popup when closing PDF in Acrobat X on Mac?

How do I disable the function that causes the 'Remove Hidden Information' popup when closing PDFs in Acrobat X? I'm using OS X 10.9.4 on a Mac?
I've searched online and was directed to Preferences>>Security (enhanced) to uncheck 'Unable Enhanced Security', but it wasn't checked.
This box (see screen shot) opens each time I close a PDF. I'm forced to select an option before closing.
Please help.

Go to the menu Acrobat>Preferences
In the Preferences window's "Categories" pane, select "Document"
In the "Hidden Information" section deselect both check boxes
Click the OK button
You should be good now.
