  • Airport Extreme not reconnecting to the Internet

    Hello,
    I have a problem with my brand-new Airport Extreme 802.11n Base-Station.
In my network there are 3 Windows-PC's with a wired connection, 1 MacBook Pro with 802.11n (also brand-new), 3 Windows-Laptops with 802.11g, an AppleTV with 802.11n (again, brand-new) and last but not least my iPhone 3G.
I set up the Airport Extreme basestation to connect to the Internet via my DSL-modem with PPPoE (the modem is a 25mbit-modem from Devolo and works flawlessly).
This works fine at first and all devices can access the Internet, the HDD connected to the basestation and so on... I was a happy user.
My Provider requires me to reconnect to the internet at least once every 24 hours.
Now when the connection reaches its 24 hour limit, it is disconnected by the provider.
This worked fine with my previous basestation, every morning at 3am it reconnected for 5 seconds and I had no problems.
But my Airport Extreme wont re-establish the connection automatically.
It doesnt reconnect right after the connection is cancelled and it doesnt reconnect when a computer wants to access the internet.
The only way to reconnect to the internet is via the Airport Utility and clicking on the "update"-button to cause a reboot of the basestation.
After it has rebooted the connection will work for 24 hours and then the basestation needs another reboot.
How can I get my basestation to reconnect to the internet without rebooting it every time.
I would prefer a reconnect right after the connection is dropped but I'd settle with an automatic reconnect once a device requests a connection.
However, since most users are not very experienced, all of this would need to be automatic once i set it all up.
Thanks for your help in advance...
    Jochen

I have asked my ISP but they said it was an unknown issue to them and that they are not responsible if my things dont work the way I want them to...
And they are absolutely right in saying its my device that acts strange since the previous router (with integrated modem) didnt have this issue.
I will try to use QuickKey and contact the Apple-Support directly.
A friend of mine works in an Apple-Store and will need to look at this later, but he is on holidays...

  • TS1398 After leaving a wi-fi connection my iphone will not automatically connect to the internet via the 3G network unless I turn it off and then on again. Is there a setting that can be changed to overcome this issue?

After leaving a wi-fi connection my iphone will not automatically connect to the internet using a mobile 3G network unless I turn my phone off and then back on again. Is there a setting that can be changed to overcome this?

Then I'm at a loss. Mine has switched automatically from the start, favoring Wi-Fi, any of its registered networks, whenever available. Only thing I can think of is trying a Force Restart and see if that clears things up: hold down Home and Sleep till the screen goes black and a white Apple logo pops up. Release and allow it to restart.
May be similar, when I got the i5 about 16 months ago, the local carrier was starting to roll out 4G service. The phone would regularly lose all carrier connection, voice and data. Haphazardly would reconnect when it felt like it afterwards. Initially did the Off/On dance to speed things up, but discovered that using Airplane Mode would do the same without the lengthier power cycle. After awhile, the carrier 'fessed they were having capacity issues and later the problem went away. So yours too may also be a carrier issue.

  • N8 Automatically Connects to the internet.

    Hi,
My new Nokia N8 automatically connects to the internet. When I open applications that need internet connection it connects without asking. For example if I open Ovi Maps, SW update, or games that use the internet it automatically connects without asking me.
I am using PR 1.2 with the following settings:
Data Use in home Network: Always Ask
Data use when abroad: Always Ask
It never asks me it just connects. This is using my data.
    Thanks

When you first set up N8 did you sign in to Nokia account or did it time out and you chose "Later"
    I chose later
Presumably if you go to Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Settings > Destinations > Internet - network access point = Priority1?
My wireless network is number 1. When im not near my wirless network other applications (such as games) automaticly use data.
Try opening your browser > Options > Settings > General > Access point - change to "Ask when needed" and see if makes any difference.
That is the option that I selected. It asks me when I open the browser only. Not other apps.
In OVI Maps top right of screen does it say "Accounts" or "Hello username" tap on this > Nokia account - does it say "sign in" or "sign out"?
    "Accounts", "Sign in"
I found an example of this:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOro3mowj1Q
At 11 Seconds "Network Connection" pops up. On my phone it does not. It just connects. Its not just ovi maps its everything.

  • Windows 8.1/IE 11 Does Not Automatically Connect to the Internet

Windows 8.1/IE 11 Does Not Automatically Connect to the Internet
I can't find the dial and redial options anywhere.
I' m connecting through PPPOE but only manual.
I know that in windows 7/8 a program like IE9 or IE10 could connect to the internet, but now it just says that I am not connected to the internet.
How to connect automacally to the internet and how to let IE to connect automatically to the internet, and why I don't have the options for dialing and redialing like in Windows 8?
    Thank You

    Hi,
Sorry for my dilatory reply, what does your mean that IE dialing to connect to internet?  Did your system can connect to Internet? or just IE 11 couldn't connect to internet. you can
check your IE poxy setting in Connections of Internet options.
If you encountered any IE problem, you can try to reset IE for test to resolve this problem.
If you need further assistance on this particular issue or any other Windows related issue, let us know and we will be glad to assist you.

  • Stop Iphone 2.0 from automatically conecting to the internet

    Hello,
Yesterday I up-dated my classic Iphone 1.1.4 to the new OS 2.0.2. It has worked really fine, but I discovered that it automatically connects to the internet via gprs increasing charges on my phone bill. I´ve changed some settings like:
*settings> fetch new data > push off > fetch manually*
*settings> general > network > data roaming off*
Though my Iphone isn't automatically updating data it is still able to conect to the internet if I press any of the web applications.
    How can I disable this?

Hmmm.. I can think of anything that will shut off the connection to the web. It will likely be maybe a wireless carrier issue? If you have no data plan the wireless carrier may still feed you data per GPRS. In phones like the Blackberry it lets you know this to either accept it or not per charges. I dont see any option like that on the iphone.

  • [E7] Automatic connections to the internet

My E7 is connecting to the internet in regular intervals, although there should be no appearent reason. I am trying to keep all outgoing data connections to a necessary minimum, mainly to maximize the device's standby time. However, I cannot get rid of some automatic connections, thus I have no idea what processes or applications actually trigger them.
My device is set with the following configuration:
    - RSS reader widgets are all removed
    - RSS feeds seem to stay offline according to the update timestamp shown with each feed
    - Widgets are set to offline
    - Social 1.3b is installed, but does not seem to update status since only older status messages are shown
    - mail synchronization is set to manual for all accounts
    - Nokia situation beta was installed, but removed
    - Skype, Nimbuzz and IM+ are installed, but not running
    - WLAN monitoring is off
I have a couple of third-party applications installed as well of which none should be running. Is there any way to monitor the outgoing data connections? I.e. which applications are responsible?
    Any hints are appreciated.
    Robert

Here is the full official FAQ about this, it seems that there are some things in it which have not already been tested here:
Your Symbian^3 device establishes a WLAN connection automatically if there is an application requesting access to the network and you are under the coverage of a WLAN network which is defined in the destination settings of the device.
Usually the applications are connecting through the default Internet destination group. To see what access points you have in this group, select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Settings > Destinations > Internet (or some other group, if it has been selected as the default destination).
If the destination group contains both WLAN and cellular access points, the switching between the access points can be controlled with the Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Settings > Switch to WLAN setting:
Select Known WLANs only to switch from cellular connection to WLAN connection immediately when the WLAN access point in the destination group is found. You can in this way save in the data costs that may be associated with the cellular data connection.
Select Manual to disable the automatic switching of currently active connection. WLAN access is established only if the user manually takes a WLAN connection in use or after the active cellular network connection is disconnected. Note that the WLAN connection is established automatically in this situation if a new connection is requested and the WLAN access point is the highest priority access point in the destination group.
If you don't want the WLAN connection to be automatically established, you can remove the WLAN access points from the default destination group:
    Select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Settings > Destinations > Internet.
Long press the WLAN access point in the list and select Delete or Move to other dest. (if the access point is in use and cannot be edited, switch the device first to Offline profile).
After removing the WLAN access points from the default destination group, the network connection will be established via the cellular connection (if defined in the destination group).
To prevent the automatic data connections to both cellular and WLAN networks, you can disable the automatic connections in the application settings. Depending on the application, this can be done e.g. in the following way:
Home screen widgets: Select Options > Widgets to offline mode.
Email: Select Menu > Applications > Mail > Settings and select Manual or a suitably long retrieval frequency in Retrieval frequency or Sync frequency settings.
Note that any applications running in the background may trigger the network connections to be established. Long press the Menu button to see the currently active applications.

  • Keeps reconnecting to the internet

hi, can anyone help me? My phone want disconnect from the internet, other phones that i have had have disconnected automatically from the internet whenever i have closed the web browser down, but this one doesn't; it is a major problem as i have a pay-as-you-go phone and its costing me credit.
Also my phone keeps beeping at me like i have got an email but i have no email address programmed into my phone so why is it doing this? Someone said it could be like a reminder telling me that it is still logged into emaill and is searching could this be it? Because it does it like every 30mins and is costing me 5p each time it beeps. Any way to turn email off?
I have looked everywhere on the internet for the answers and have rang orange 4 times with no help from them!
I've been into menu - settings - connectivity - connection mgr. - (it is connected to orange internet) options - disconnect and select yes. It disconnects for like 2mins before connecting automatically any reason why its doing this? Any way to stop it doing this?
I've also changed packet data to "when needed" so shouldnt it only connect when i want it to? Also i have checked if anything is open like widgets of windows messenger and i dont think they are, any way to tell if they are? Please help

its the nokia N97 mini sorry forgot to put that
I thought i figured it out, my phone magically had set up an email account using my hotmail account that i never typed in! I closed that down and have stopped getting the beeps.
However all is not well as i am still constantly connected to the internet. However when goin on connectivity and connectivity mgr. and clicking on details it says status: conn (inactive) but when im on the internet it says: conn (active) does this make a difference?
Also when i go in and disconnect from the internet that is when it charges me! Its all very confusing

  • My macbook air does not always automatically connect to the internet

My macbook air only connects to my home internet automatically occasionally, even though it is set to connect to the network automatically. I have to either manually type in my internet and password almost every time or I have to turn off and on the AirPort. This does not happen at other places where my computer is set to connect automatically. My mom has the same computer as me and lives in the same house and she has no problems connecting to the internet. How do I fix this?

    Hi ...
I have to either manually type in my internet and password almost every time or I have to turn off and on the AirPort
Open Airport Utility located in /Applications/Utilities
    Select Passwords on the left.
Type  base station    in the search field top right corner of that window.
Now right or control click the base station keychain, then click Delete.
Now open Airport Utility located in /Applications/Utilties
Select the base station config on the left then click Manual Setup.
Select AirPort from the menu then select the Wireless tab.
Type in your Wireless Password then again in Verify Password.
Select:  Remember this password in my keychain
You shoud not have to re enter your base station password repeatedly now and you may be prompted to save the password to a new keychain. Click Yes.

  • HT4628 My macbook pro will not automatically reconnect to the wifi after a sleep. This has started after having upgraded to mountain Lion (10.8).

    Hi
After I have installed Mountain Lion (10.8) - my macbook pro will not connect automatically to my preferred wifi network. It used to do that on the previous versions. It seems that the mac does not recognize the preferred network, as it asks me to choose a network after evey sleep/restart. I have modified the network preference to have my preferred netwrok at the top of the list. I have tried with/without checking the "ask me before joining a new network". It still behaved the same.
    Thanks

Try making a new network connection and renewing the DCHP lease as detailed here:
